It’s a great game, don’t let any comments or rage topics make you think otherwise. There are few issues here and there like in any MMO, you can’t make everyone happy, but overall is one of the best games out there.
And it’s B2P, I don’t know where you got the F2P idea.

I think the current implementation of the whole megaserver system has a major flaw that can be easily fixed programming wise.
Say you are in a map fighting Tequatl or doing the VW meta or whatever and you get disconnected for some reason (being server’s fault, bad connection or the cat chewing the internet cable), and you log back in 5 seconds later and you’re automagically put in a new instance and so you wasted 30-60mins getting ready for that event and got screwed.
Why isn’t there a queue timer, like 1-2mins, for the server to wait for the player to reconnect before kicking him out of the map instance? Because programming wise is stupidly easy to implement.

Why?
Because it’s a huge undertaking to change something as basic like this programming wise.
As a side note on the looting system, does anyone else thinks that getting 1000x green/blue items is a very bad design idea? I mean, they could’ve easily just give some mats or gold rather than a bunch of crap that players will salvage anyway, I don’t think any level 80 is like “Oh look at all this green gear, it’s so awesome!”.
It’s just is what it is. An Intel i5 will outperform an AMD FX in GW2.
I had an FX-6350 and had around 15-20fps in zergs, with a 4790k I have ~50fps with everything maxed including Supersample on at 1080p.
Yet again, the game has a poorly optimized engine, you need to have top-end hardware to play the game at constant 60fps+ with everything maxed, even now, 2 years after its release.
Elementalist is one of the most fun professions to play, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a newcomer unless you really want to invest time to learn it and not ragequit before level 30, it has a really steep learning curve. The rewards are worth it tho.
When was the last time you know when Anet actually listened to what the players want? Topics like these are useless imo.

Same here, farmed the stupid item for 4 days now. My girlfriend casually logs in and AFKs near the VW meta and gets the beta access. And she has no intention of joining the beta. FML.
Some of those traits have been made baseline. For example, the larger AoEs for staff ele trait is now the default.
Any source on that? Or was it on livestream?
Also I noticed they removed the damage boost for weapons in the traits or stuff like larger AoEs for staff eles and there’s no replacement for that. That kinda removes the uniqueness of certain builds in my opinion.
Can someone explain why ANET said the new trait system will improve build diversity? Because from what I can tell, instead of having 5×6 traits to choose from you’ll only have 3×6 at one given time, which from a mathematical point of view means less possible combinations.
What am I missing?
I use WP’s build and tips and pretty much works all around, just need to learn how to dodge a lot and stay alive.

Same here, squishy zerk ele and had no issues with it, just stay at the entrance, kill the ads quickly then pew pew the statue from max distance. Tbh I think it’s the most easiest ‘boss’ fight from all the episodes.
I’m complaining about trees not having to many leaves ingame. No other reason than complaining. #plsfix

Tried to take screenshots at the lowest FPS possible, also I always have Supersample enabled so depending on the zone I might get between 10-30 FPS gain if I switch to native. Settings and FPS are visible in every picture.

So 50-60 FPS is about as much as you can get in the cities with my settings. If you have a better GPU or turn down Supersampling then you’ll get more in some areas. But in SW zergs for example at vinewrath, when is all about the CPU , the FPS is around 40-50 with a 4790K.
So if you hear people saying “pff I have 90-100FPS in zergs” they are lying, or they are playing at the lowest settings at 640×480. The game is not that good optimized for modern hardware.

1. Hosting is different than a domain name, they may come/sold in bundles but usually they are sepparate. The free domains/hosting are crappy as hell, you get limited space, limited features, limited bandwith, etc. so your website will run really slow and depending on the free host you’ll get spammed with adverts.
You can get cheap hosting solutions around 5$ per month while the domain name would be around 30$ per year (varies by the domain extension).
Ofc this all means you need to be or know someone who is tech savvy and can configure the host, domain and your forum.

TLDR: If you want fancy stuff and a cool website you need to invest a little in it. Can’t offer you advice on the free ones since they are all crappy imo.
Why buy the K version? Are you really gonna OC? You need a solid PSU and cooling to get any benefits from a decent OC. And most of time the FPS gain from an OC is around 5% or lower while it also lowers the lifespan of the CPU considerably. OCing your CPU is only good if your CPU is bottlenecking the GPU, which in this case not a chance.
You can also save money and buy a 1600MHz memory kit instead of 1866, the difference will be like 1FPS at most.
And with the money saved get a decent PSU not some cheap garbage.
Check your temperatures for CPU and GPU while the game is running, they might be throttling down to not burn out.

Might be true, but everytime someone used AoE at red we failed miserable with boss at 50%+ HP, and when everyone was using single target condition skills we finished him off with 1-2mins left to spare. That’s my experience.
You need to take in calculations the fact that most of the guides are for smart organized groups, not random pugs.
You do a meteor shower on boss and I’ll guarantee you will kill some ads and a bubble eventually. The ads keep spawning and they change the target constantly, no matter how good you are at kiting them away from the boss, if the ads zerg changes their target right in your meteor shower, it will not end good.
And that’s just one AoE, imagine everyone spamming them.
It’s not the AoEs themselves that are forbidden, it’s the risk associated with them in a pug.

Well, if you’re going to give incorrect advice, you’ve got to be prepared for people not to follow it.
What incorrect advice? If you kill the ads near the boss they will heal it.

Let me make an analogy. You go in a dugeon that you did a thousand times before. At one boss ,4 of you stack on a point while the 5th doesn’t, and because of him you all wipe instead of getting an easy kill. Who’s fault was it?

People usually tell the basics, like “build the honeycomb” or “protect the carries”, you can’t expect someone to write in chat in the middle of the fight the story of their lives regarding tactics.

Kind of goes both ways. If you want or expect people to be informed while playing olen world content with you it seems like common sense to contribute to informing them.
Well usually people do, like they say “build the honeycomb” or “kill pustules”, but if you do 10+ events every day you get bored of spamming the same stuff over and over again. You expect people to know what to do.
But that’s not the issues of this topic, it’s about the players complaining “you should’ve told us what to do!” instead of looking it up for themselves beforehand.
Ok so first a little story that happened yesterday and I’ve seen it multiple times already.
We are doing the meta event in Silverwastes and for some reason the bottom lane fails, then the middle one fails at the same boss and ofc someone rages in chat “omfg we lost cause no one was killing the ads and we all got pushed!”, which he was right.
At that time, another player, followed quickly by others, said smth like “why didn’t you explain us what to do! oh you’re so pro! this is a bad community!”, and things degenerated from there.
I tried to explain them that the fights are on a short timer and there’s so much stuff going on that you can’t actually explain in chat what to do in the middle of the encounter.
Which leads me to my gripe with this: why can’t players take 5 minutes to read the wiki or ask other players before an event starts about the tactics involved? Did this game turn that casual and brainless that everyone is expecting to be carried for free loot?

Uhm… I suggest you uninstall the game, delete the folder it was installed in, and reinstall the game. GW2 size on my PC is less than 20GB, and that’s after over an year of updates.
Finally got my achievs after 2 days of grinding. And speaking of megaservers, there’s a huge issue with it, was starting the breach, suddenly got disconnected cause gremlins or god knows what, logged back 5 secs later and was in a different instance with 0/4. FML. I don’t know why they don’t implement a time-out period before removing a player from a megaserver, like 30-60 secs, it’s very easy to do that programming wise.
Ok so I took a break right before the finale so I didn’t catch all the rush in SW so now I’ve been trying to get the achievements and the collections but it seems just a few people actually give a crap about the events there anymore.
I mean yeah they all zerg at the final event to get the loot, but most of the time 90% of the players are clueless about what to do and fail. Been trying to get the Silver&Gold and everytime failed because we didn’t have enough players, were like 6-7 at most. Not to mention getting any legendary champs since the forts are lost at every mordrem attack most of the time, again due to lack of players.
Been looking through LFG all the time and seems no one has any interest in SW anymore.
My question is, are there any communities or guilds there that are still having any interest in doing SW the proper way and not just farming chests? EU btw.

Where are you getting that info from? And what model is your GPU exactly? My R9 280X is around 70 degrees on full load, 45 degrees is way too low.
I had an FX-6350 and can tell you it’s not gonna make wonders. You will get around 20fps in zergs, and around 30-40fps in Divinity’s Reach near bank for example. Open world areas are better with around 50-60 fps in some zones, but the average with all settings maxed out at 1080p gonna be around 40fps (that is if you have a decent GPU that won’t bottleneck the CPU). The game seems to hate AMD processors. I switched to a 4790K and the difference is miles ahead, getting almost triple the performance. So my advice is wait until you get more money and get an i5 at least.

Unless you master dodging, reflecting, absorbing, etc then it’s ruthless. An ele is all about avoiding the damage rather than soaking it. You pretty much can take just one hit, the second one will kill you for sure. And you only have just one condi clear spell aswell so you can’t afford to make mistakes. This is for standard high DPS full zerk glass cannon staff build btw. It will make you a better player overall tho.

And yet people yell “omg no content!”….
I’m casual also, don’t even have a guild cause would end up being kicked, but I had no trouble stepping into the new content. Was on my way to continue the Season 2 story, saw an event in Silverwastes, last thing you know I spent 2h trying to breach through the vines, was a ftw experience even if I didn’t quite know what was going on, just went with the flow.
The community is a big part of this game, even if you fail they are eager to help you and explain wtf you should do if you ask, it’s not the toxic community you see in WoW for example.
If you have the latest drivers, latest Windows updates and the card is properly powered and seated, then the only reason that might cause the issues is a faulty card, so just RMA it since you said it’s kinda new.
How are your CPU and GPU temperatures? The fact that the freezes/crashes happen quicker and quicker makes me think something is overheating. Get a tool like HWInfo and let it run while you play GW for 5-10 minutes (choose sensors only at startup for HWInfo). If core or gpu temperatures pass 90 degrees Celsius then you might have a cooling problem.

Same here, getting massive lagspikes and disconnects lately, especially during the personal/living story episodes and during the evenings, didn’t have any issues until about 2 weeks ago. EU Desolation.

I say remove all the waypoints, and if your character dies then he can’t resurect anymore and you’ll have to make a new character from scratch. Maybe get your new characater and bury your old one. And get a hidden achiev for doing that.
