You don’t need HoT for those, go farm SW and you’ll get flooded in them, literally. I deleted over 10000 of them because I had no more space left in the bank and got 50 stars already crafted. You can get 500 in 2 days there, take a break from HoT cause it’s bad at fragments.

Can confirm this on my ele, issue appeared with HoT. Any ground targeted spell it’s affected by this, even tho the overlay shows green you get target is not in line of sight error message.
From what I noticed, if the center of the overlay is a little behind than the very top of the target you get this message, so have to put all the ground targeted spells a little towards the front of the target.
Did Tequatl as tempest without any issue. o.O

I got one t4 yesterday with random people, just takes 2-3 people to organize the whole map.
The problem with this is the community, people are afraid to talk in the chat or take the lead in this game, but this deserves a whole topic on its own.
No framerate issues here, seems the same as the 32bit client. Noticed client using up to 4.9GB of RAM in Tarir. Also seems a good chunk of RAM gets cleared on map change, so it seems good.
Posting the system specs to help you exclude and narrow down the problem.
i7 4790k
GTX 980
16GB DDR3
Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2
850 EVO SSD
Win 10 x64
Latest BIOS, non-beta drivers and updates.
KIS 2016 running in the background.
Keep the good work from a fellow dev
Did a Tarir event and noticed the client using up to 4.9GB of RAM with no issues, so guess it’s a step in the right direction. Didn’t play enough to asess (no kitten censorship -.-) the crash chances yet.

This miniature is extremely slow, you can barely see it behind you, it’s that far away when you walk around, take like 10 seconds for it to catch up after you stop.
Everyone who is defending the precursor crafting is missing the point.
You have 2 choices atm:
1) farm gold and buy precursor from TP (there’s no RNG involved there)
2) farm gold, farm mats, farm trophies, level masteries, invest kittenloads of time in it and get a precursor
The final price is more or less the same with small variations.
What would you choose?

I had no issues to get them on my first characters last week, but I noticed lately a lot of people in the map are something like “Please come for HP at blue tag!”…“Anyone?”…“No one?”… etc…
And this is a week after release, it will get worse as the time passes imo.
“We added Supersample, High-Res Character textures, Dynamic Reflections, Ambient Occlusion, SMAA and other fancy stuff that will make your game look gorgeous!
Oh but if you want to have a good experience with the game you should turn those off and play at minimum settings. CYA #YOLO!"
That’s pretty much Anet’s answer atm. A little of exageration maybe, but not too much.
The point of collections is to give you an actual non rng sourced way to acquire a precursor, whether or not its cheap is irrelevant.
Except that you have a lot of RNG for the collections aswell.
To those saying they wont admit to it, the admitted to it a year ago.

That post just confirms my suspicion. How many players still use a x86 CPU nowadays?
A 32bit client on a x64 OS doesn’t make any difference. I’m talking about a 64bit client, not just running it on a x64 operating system.
A 64bit client would allow the process to use up to 65,000x the amount of RAM a 32bit process can use (which is 3-4GB) before running into heap size issues.
(edited by VaLee.5102)
Just got a crash, again. Looked at some stats before sending the report to ArenaNet:
1.4 / 4 GB VRAM used
3.5 / 16 GB RAM used
For a 32bit process that’s a lot. Can you please make a 64bit client already instead of still offering support for those 1% that still run WinXP x86?
Music played during the Tarir fight, couldn’t find it anywhere so I recorded it ingame: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0Kp9XK-f7A
If it violates any copyright or anything like that let me know.
You get some of the achievements on the first play in HoT, you had them on the daredevil aswell, maybe you didn’t pay attention.
I
Maybe anet could introduce a “buy an overflow” system, where you could reserve a map for your guild members, then after 15 minutes it becomes an open map once again.
That would probably put a huge load on the servers since everyone will want to get a new map. It’s ideal, but don’t see Anet doing anything like that.
They can barely cope with the server loads as it is now.
Auric Basin
Doing the meta pre for about 30 minutes with about 20 people…“This map will close soon, please volunteer…etc”
I volunteer ofc, start looking at the map to see how the new one is, close the map…“This map will close soon, please volunteer…etc”
I join again a new map, this time gathered 4 comms with about 10-20 players at each and we do the meta pre. Finished 12/12, began taxying people while waiting for the challenges to start, challenges started…“This map will now close, please volunteer…” SAY WUT?
5-10 minutes later I had a client crash and went to bed.
That was my evening yesterday.
^What he said. That person who complains payed the same money as you did, so he can say whatever he wants about the product he bought. If he doesn’t like it then it’s his right.
But you don’t have to pay for something in order to express your opinion. It’s something called freedom of speech, and you know, it’s free.
I assume you are talking about Inner Chamber poi and vista?
I can see where you are coming from, a guy asked me to show him how to get there just to realize he couldn’t enter because he didn’t reach that story chapter yet.
Each character has its own story progression, so not possible.
More and more people are having the suspicion that it might be a memory leak, so in the end, no matter how much memory you have you will crash if you play for longer time.
Not sure if it’s RAM or VRAM issue, gonna do some tests today.
and btw, you’re using a GTX 980 card and you have memory issues? Or you’re just here to talk nonsense about something you don’t have yourself? Cus it seems like it.
Yes i do have memory issues and crashes since HoT got live, wouldn’t reply on this topic if I wouldn’t.
I don’t know why you get so hostile, I’m just trying to let the less tech savvy people know.
I have a GTX 980 fyi, but I won’t try this. What are you suggesting might repair issues you might have in all games, e.g. the card doesn’t have enough power or bad drivers or bad chips on your GPU, etc.
Changing the offset to 150-200Mhz on one card, might set another card in flames, those values are purely arbitratry chosen by you for your specific GPU. So unless everyone has a GTX 660 from the same manufacturer and the same production batch as you, then your advice is worse than no advice.
(edited by VaLee.5102)
I haven’t crashed yet (knock on wood) but I also have not been playing in the new maps or the new content (except my Revenant).
Are these crashes just happening in the new zones?
For me yes, 15-20 or so crashes so far, 10 of them at least in the Auric Basin, some in Dragon’s Stand and Verdant Brink. My friends tho crashed at Tequatl, in Lion’s Arch and at Shatterer.
So it seems it has a higher chance in the new maps but can happen everywhere.
And to clueless people, we are talking about the client crashing, e.g. you get the “Send error report to ArenaNet” window, not disconnects.
(edited by VaLee.5102)
You get random recipes for around 7-8k karma, there are 6 vendors in the world, you can buy one recipe per day from each, that’s 6 random recipes for about 50k per day. The recipes can go from 20s to 300-400g on the TP, depending how lucky you are.
(edited by VaLee.5102)
You are giving an advice that might potentially fry people’s GPUs, I won’t test anything unless you’re willing to give me 800$ to replace my GPU if it burns.
Basically was doing the fight, all was good for 5 minutes or so, then everytime I looked at the boss the textures/model got seriously distorted and flickering all over the place with the framerate dipping below 5fps.
When I turned my back to the boss all was good, framerate in the 60s, no graphical distortions. Turned back towards the boss, same glitches and low fps again.
About 20 seconds later the client crashed. Managed to get back in the fight after the crash and every issue dissapeared.
It’s not my GPU, played Witcher 3 and Battlefield 4 for hours with no issue, also tested 15mins with Furmark, all good.
Latest updates and drivers.
Win10 x64, 4790k, GTX 980, 16GB DDR3 1600. No overclocks.
Attaching screenshots with the boss perfectly fine and with the glitches.
So you want us to mess with the frequencies of our perfectly working GPUs because of a buggy client? Say what?
It might help you maybe with your card, but from a logical pov it does not make sense to generalize.
Not sure about unfinished, but you can clearly tell it was rushed at the end to meet the deadline. There are plenty of hints to suggest that.
Having 0 problems since launch, no crashes.
Have you checked your internet connection? Are you US or EU server?
How would someone’s internet connection crash the client? o.O
Their god kitten servers….
This. Crashes, skill delay, disconnects, login issues.
Pact Supply Network mastery. It’s RNG but still, chance to make a lot of gold.
Please let all the balancing and all the other stuff aside for now and fix the kitten crashes….
I know the expansion is new and all, but I had over 20 crashes in a week now and always during the worst moments. I’ve sent countless reports so far I don’t know if anyone inspects them tbh. And I’m not alone, all my friends and guildies are constantly crashing every day.
Just now was doing Tarir, got a crash, client patched up because “Fixed a server crashed”, joined back in to try a quick salvage of a new Tarir meta, 5 minutes later the server crashed…like seriously.
Please focus on the stability above all.
If there’s anything that’s flawless in this expansion, it’s the music. Good job!
Are those bugs still there? I thought they fixed them…sigh.
I have no idea how that fight passed the internal testing, the bugs are not a rare occurence, I experienced them in 4 out of 5 tries.
There are more masteries like that, half of them feel like filler content, to me atleast.
If you were content (as many of us are), to slowly build towards your legendary, you would be spending much less.
The total cost is the same, just because you spend mats and not gold doesn’t mean the value is less.
What the title says. Except for an achievement and maybe some adventure I didn’t find, is there any actual use for it or it’s just filler content?
4790k and a GTX 980 here, and it’s not an overkill. It’s the lowest you can go if you want supersample on and steady 60fps, that is with character models and numbers set to Medium and reflections to middle value.
But even with this you get dips even as low as 30fps in some areas. The game is poorly optimized and runs on an ancient engine.
Same here, always crashing at the end of a successful Tarir event, either right after the reward or right before the last octovine is killed.
Had another crash on the final fight of Dragon’s Stand yesterday aswell accompanied by some really bad graphical glitches, textures flickering all over the place.
No problems whatsoever before HoT. Did a client repair but to no avail.
Win10 x64
i7 4790k, GTX 980,16GB DDR3 1600MHz, 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD
Latest drivers and updates.
Guys please stop derailing the topic…
This is not a topic about whether you like the content or not or whether you are a pro or a noob.
It doesn’t matter how bad a player is, if he won’t buy the expansion or any of the future expansions then that’s an opportunity lost for ANet.
The point of this whole topic is that an expansion should have a balance in order to catter for all kind of players to maximize profits and population, and HoT currently doesn’t. And this impacts all of us on the long run.
At least that’s my opinion.
(edited by VaLee.5102)
They pulled a GoT or TWD card, spend time to rescue someone and then have them die one minute later. I liked it, and was surprised tbh, wasn’t expecting it from ANet.
I hope for more unexpected plot twists in the future.
If you want less challenge tyria has about 25 maps already for ya.
Keep in mind that all this new content is a payed expansion, wouldn’t be an issue if it was added in the core game like SW was for example.
Everyone payed the money for the expansion, not just a certain group of people. And you can’t blame them for that, the expansion was never advertised to be challenging in it’s entirety, just that it will have challenging content.
To put it in a different way, now that the general consensus is that HoT is a little challenging, do you think casual players will buy it? And if not, are there enough casual players around to hurt ANet income on the long run, or at least not reaping the full monetary benefits of what they could have?
Because ANet’s profits affects all the players and all the game.
(edited by VaLee.5102)
There’s a difference between having hard end content in an MMO, and having all content hard.
And to make it clear again, this is not about me or you as individuals and what we like or don’t, it’s about the game and the population as a whole.
Please think on a big scale and in the long run. HoT will not always be end content.
You can run past mobs in Orr too, you’re missing the point.
To begin with, this is not a discussion about masteries or hero points, but the expansion as a whole.
We all know there was a large group of people who were asking for challenging content in GW2, and I was one of them. But I think the way they implemented in HoT was something like “They want hard content? We will give them hard content! YOLO!”.
You don’t make a whole expansion cattered just for the a certain group of people, there needs to be a balance. There were other MMOs that went full hardcore and we all know how they ended.
Now you got the situation where the more casual of the players (which are quite a lot) are uttermost frustrated and are not enjoying the content.
They could’ve left the meta events in the maps and raids as challeging content, while leaving the general maps accessible for those who are just interested in exploring, gathering, doing little events, etc. That way you would please both groups of players.
Adventures are a good example of content done right, you have the Bronze tier pretty much accessible to anyone, while the Gold tiers will probably be done by those who want a challenge.
I don’t think any of the hardcore players really enjoy random packs of elite mobs placed everywhere for no reason either.
The new maps feel like Orr on release, with more leaves. And we all know how Orr ended up, even now after the nerf, the only people who go there are the ones doing the Cursed Shore train and the ones going for map completion.
And please think about this in general, do not mindlessy reply, do you think releasing an expansion designed to a single target audience is good for the game in the long run?
Do you think the casual players will quit the expansion maps after the hype is gone? And if yes, how will that affect the game in those areas?
Keep in mind that a lot of the casual players cannot afford to improve, they have limited gameplay time, real life responsabilities, etc and they just want to relax a couple of hours a week for example.
Getting one shot isn’t challenging. Especially if there aren’t any dodge queues to avoid said hit, like on Legendary Wyvern in VB. When it does the fly by attacks that leave the acid on the ground, if you get hit by the fly by, you instantly go down, then die from the acid. No chance to even recover. The fly by has no tell, no marker, nothing. It just happens, and you have to be lucky it doesn’t target you, otherwise to bad, so sad, dead.
Anet just thought the game needs more RNG, didn’t have enough.
Heart of Thorns is the best expansion ever, and the players love it.
Said no one ever.
