I agree with most things, but you are splitting the effect into two parts: when channeling, and after channeling. I don’t feel comfortable having to channel around to get the maximum out of the overloads, you can get interrupted a hell lot of times!
“Elite specializations keep the base profession core skills and traits in addition to the new ones provided by that elite specialization, while offering new profession mechanics or changing existing ones.”

First, your quote is wrong (I remember when I first wrote that quoting from an early interview, and I stand correct to this moment). Second, you can’t change the attunements! They are the core of this profession and will always exist! Elite specs will work on top of attunements, and this is expected.
So, please, avoid quoting false information and understand the underlying approach for elite specs.

Next time read the material on the wiki too before accusing of false quotes.
And to the guy above, no your idea certainly involved a lot of consumption of heavy stuff… but I guess that is what you need if you think that Elementalist can not group buff and group heal today, always needing to watch their positioning so the effects they get from swapping attunement, making and blasting fields, etc produce the most tide turning effect in battle.
I mean, it is not like elementalists today:
have a trait that let’s you give AoE boons on a very short cooldown; or
are able to heal 2 times for a sizeable amount and cure up to 3 conditions of himself and allies by simply dodge rolling while swapping to water (or 3 times and 4 conditions if they also use Dagger OH 5); or
share their auras (which they have good access to); or
provide up to 9 AoE might stacks by using a standard might generation rotation just once, which depends on a positioning to get the best effect. They definitely did not have any of that in melee / close range so the new elite spec comes to fill in this HUGE void in group support that the elementalist had.
The wiki can be edited by anyone, and I don’t police everything (nor do I have to), but that text doesn’t have sources so it’s not as accurate as the specialization article itself. Your quote, therefore, stands inaccurate.
Plus, overloading attunements DO change the way eles play.

I wanted something more flashy, but oh well.
The usefulness will depend on the elites cool-down and duration.
Mist Form and Armor of Earth will see a significant boost from the elite, IMO.
Depending on the overload you use, you must use AoE, they’re kinda forcing us back into cantrips once more. I don’t even…
This elite is ridiculous. For Jesus Christ’s sake, you had ONE JOB, ArenaNet! I’m so kittening disappointed I just can’t even see this crap anymore. 0/10

It has always worked nicely when they simply locked our skill bars when they intended for us not to use swiftness.
It was supposed to be normalized across SKILLS, not ordinary jumps. Can any dev give an input on this? I thank you in advance.
All this “balancing” announcements strike me as a major marketing move. So many things completely buffed as high as possible, it seems they released revenants in betas already screwed to the ground to come at us later claiming they’ve fixed/balanced it, and they simply buff the hell out of the skills. So much convenient to believe these damage coefficients weren’t meant to be like this since the beginning. IMO balancing will happen AFTER release, before that I’ll just sit and wait.
People have been abusing a lot, it’s good it’s only a test though.
Maybe you should use a file format that isn’t from the stone age, this PS4 tier 10 FPS cinematic experience really doesn’t do the animations justice.
What format would that be? I only know of gif for animated pictures.
They should stablish a pattern. It’s weird when they reveal 3 specs then shut down all of a sudden, no matter what they show in the meantime. People want to see specializations.
Meanwhile, butterfly wings incoming! xD
Please, show some tempest stuff!
No need to remove it, but increase number of usages to something.. I don’t know… 9-10? Mostly is crap.
World vs. World Borderlands Stress Test [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Valento.9852
It’s a little bitter, though, to have pre-purchased and be out of this “stress test” (a.k.a beta thingie with another name).
How many players can enter borderland? How the limits work? Is it 500 players per server? What about Eternal Battlegrounds?
Precursor crafting only for who buy the expansion. Not a big deal. Not. At. All. ;.;
@skowcia, you didn’t understand. Take Mordrem Thrasher for example, he starts spinning towards a direction and you taunt it, it won’t stop spinning towards that direction but by the time it finishes that movement the short time taunt will be already over.
Well, then it’s broken. If durations are very short (1s-2s), then what use would it have if target uses a 4sec channeled skill and finishes it before being lured to the caster?
I’m curious, does taunt interrupt the target if it’s casting/channeling/charging a skill?
It is only available if you have pre-purchased and activated HoT. I have, and I had it available, just bought the deluxe edition and upgraded my account.
I have finished my personal story LONG ago, why am I in chapter 7? And why there ain’t a green arrow to show me next step?
I would love if we could use them in LA! This is the best idea ever.
Why won’t they release any new info? I’m dying to know about tempests. ;_;
OP doesn’t know how balancing works. It’s not just about formulas, coefficients, munching numbers, etc. (Un)fortunately some balancing reaches other systems than combat.

Not supposed to replace, but to give more in-depth look and be used as a possible tool to fix/address lore problems.
Why would a new warhorn skin indicate that ele’s are getting warhorns? I don’t see how that follows.
As people already mentioned there’s a pattern with the datamined skins and revealed specs so far, plus the look.
Well, from that link the ascended LB is for sure the Dragonhunter LB, the ascended greatsword is the Reaper GS, so the chances of the war horn be the weapon of an elite specialization is high, specially one called Tempest.
BTW, I also wish to use sword with my ele, and Tempest was one of my favorite D&D 3.5 prestige class.
Ikr and it’s because everything fits that I’m afraid we might get this. I’m not a Weather Forecaster!!
Could be the skin for new legendary warhorn precursor, or some higher phase on it’s way towards legendary weapon. Of course it could also be elementalist ‘tempest’ warhorn skin, yes.
I bet the second yeah, but I’m terrified to think about a warhorn as tempest weapon. x.x
That_shaman datamined some upcoming items which highly suggests we’ll be getting a warhorn, just look at the design (currently labelled as “ascended warhorn”). I would be very disappointed, to say the least. ;_;
Any player can experience LS Season Two at no cost by simply joining the party of someone that has unlocked it, and plays through.
If one is interested in only the story, and none of the rewards/achievements, they could post in the LFG and seek another willing to open the instance. Or just ask friends/guildies, of course.
Good luck.
Excellent idea.
Simply put: I loved short stories. It opened up the possibility to get together many unexplained pieces of lore, and such continuity prevented lore discrepancies or redundancies.
Thumbs up if you also miss them! \o/
There really shouldn’t be any downscaling only up.
Disagree. Downscaling is great feature. When level 80s can waltz around one shotting everything like in WoW it’s not good for anybody.
But it was balanced. Now they’re just made it ridiculous.
There must be something horribly wrong with downscaling. It’s kitten wrong.
If they intend GW2 to be mostly story-driven PvE-wise, they need to grab profit out of it in some way. If they start handing out LS2 for free they’ll lose the opportunity to profit, it’s very different from giving a character slot for people who supported them over almost three years. They even have a discounted LS2 package in Gem Store…
Take this toilet paper from my back, all the help is appreciated. Thanks.
I wonder how necros feel about this change since they were supposed to be the greatest condi class in the game.
I don’t know who is that Consortium but I want to punch him in the face. hahah
I think tempests will get physical or survival skills, which are lame depending on weapon skills, AND if it’s main-hand.
Eles can burn down oponents quite hard now. Yes the glyphs are strong there. Also arcane helps.
I am not a heavy burning ele but i can also stack up a lot. I like cleansing flame and flamewall.
Use arcane healing, arcane blast, arcane traits that trigger burning and the glyphs. Lay down a fire field and blow your arcane skills (blast finishers) and the storm …. Of course you have burnign precision for +20% duration and an extra burn.
With dagger you can also breath fire.
No condi cleanse = ashOh wohoo i have Stop, Dodge and Roll ^^.
Would you mind sharing your build, sir?
Guys, yesterday I ran AC and got a little disappointed… felt like my damage was very low. I chose 11010 with S/F, cele armor and zerker trinkets, with Ice Bow and Glyph of Storms. :|
I wanted to leap into the unknown and get GoeP attuned to fire to cause a lot of burning with Glyph of Storms, but I’d like opinions on this. I tested and could easily reach 10+ stacks of burning for a brief time. I’m very confused about this meta.
