Valkyrie.2678:They should come up with a magical endgame content within 10 days or mop won’t show mercy.
How many WoW expansions released during GW1’s life cycle, and how quickly did GW1 die?
I’m sorry, what’s that? It didn’t? Ya don’t say!
MoP is no threat. Hell, it’ll be a boon; every uninformed consumer who bought GW2 thinking it would be another WoW clone will go back to the game this one was made to break away from instead of coming to the forums trying to turn this game into, well, the game it was made to break away from.
I’m no wow fanboy, I don’t even like the game but when I just think in a realistic way, that’s what I see. When you reach 80 in Guild Wars 2, there is absolutely nothing to do. WvWvW and dungeons have the potential to be massive endgame events, and they are supposed to be, however things just gone wrong if you ask me.
As I said before-I actually have a suggestion topic about this-, with small modifications applied to WvWvW and dungeons, endgame will turn out to be just awesome and that will be the time GW2 crushes many games out there.
Saving is easy. Tell me how to make some.
It’s hoddiction.
They should come up with a magical endgame content within 10 days or mop won’t show mercy.
kitten hell, the game’s been out less than three weeks.
Also, there is a kitten-ton of stuff to do in the game to keep you busy.
Well, keep saying that. There are ten days until MoP gets released and if ANet can’t come up with a massive content update before September 25th, this game will be forgotten. I’m no wow fan, I’ve never played it because I actually hate it.
There isn’t a ton of things to do in Guild Wars 2 currently. It is 1. get level 80 2. get exotics 3. get bored 4. quit
Because WvWvW is pointless, dungeons are boring and nobody really cares legendary items or world completion.
“But you can explore!!” Yeah, nobody cares. Gotta be realistic sometimes.
I really love this game but I can keep saying “but you can explore!!!” while I’m out of things to do.
You don’t have the right to be afk for too long, sorry.
Indeed. I’ve already posted it as a suggestion: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Detailed-World-Map-Completion-Table/first#post83038
I’m afraid GW2 will be destroyed by MoP if ANet doesn’t act quickly and release a ‘big’ content update with a couple new features, not only new items and such.
No, I’m not a wow fanboy. I hate wow -and most of its players-
And yes, I have full exotic items, 2 level 400 crafting professions, 95% of Tyria explored and instances completed. At this state, there is nothing fun to do in the game. Dungeons are boring and pointless, so is WvWvW.
You can read my suggestion about this issue here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/better-WvWvW-and-Dungeons/first#post114859
1. Ranking Points
WvWvW will never be a real PvP area until it has personal rankings and guild rankings. So it should give players some kind of ranking points that can even be used to buy new gear. (New gear, specially and newly designed)
You earn ranking points by killing invaders, helping capture a territory, helping other warriors of your server by reviving them etc. Pretty much the same idea that you earn experience points in PvE.
Also, personal ranking points could be similar to influence points and used to rank guilds. There could be different guild upgrades purchased with (only) ranking points as well. That would encourage guilds to join WvWvW.
Ranking points would be another way of getting progress. Right now, WvWvW has no feature for personal progress so adding a new feature that would allow personal progress would encourage people to join WvWvW.
2. Real Reward
WvWvW should also give karma and gold for each invader killed, each territory captured, each warrior of your server helped -same idea as #1-
Currently, WvWvW is pointless for most of the players. You can win boons for your server but those boons are not really necessary. Winning boons is not the actual reason people participate in WvWvW. There are also badges, but what if I don’t like invader armor set or I don’t want to craft legendaries? Would I need badges? No.
You can buy a full set of cultural armors by farming crafting materials and selling them for a month, if you’re playing at least 5 hours a day. Let us earn that gold by participating WvWvW, killing invaders, capturing territories and such. It would be much more fun.
Same thing could also be applied to dungeons. Right now, dungeons mean nothing but crafting materials for legendaries and endless wipes. However, if every action you do in a dungeon gave you karma and gold, people would feel more like they are actually having progress.
Most of these are posted before but I wanted to organize them with my ideas and write in a single post.
If I must farm gold for months to achieve something I want, that’s fine but at least let me do that in an enjoyable way rather than just farming crafting materials.
(edited by Valkyrie.2678)
If dungeons and WvWvW gave some nice karma and gold, we would have fun farming for gold and karma. I’m sick and tired of farming crafting materials which is the only way to farm gold in Guild Wars 2.
Two fundamental events of end-game are currently useless and boring in Guild Wars 2, WvWvW and dungeons. I’ll explain how come they are useless.
WvWvW:
Provides no personal progression and the boons you can win for your server are not really necessary. Gives badges, yeah, but that’s the only thing it provides.
It should’ve let you earn karma, gold and some sort of ranking points so WvWvW would be far more profitable and competitive. Simply, more fun.
Let’s be realistic now. Even if you participate DE’s for whole day, you won’t really make that much of gold. Currently, farming crafting materials is the only way to farm gold. Think about you give people another option: WvWvW. Would be awesome.
Dungeons:
Dungeons currently are for dedicated players only. Since it gives nothing but only crafting materials to craft legendaries and only a minority of players -hardcores- aim to craft legendaries in a near future, most of the players find dungeons unnecessary challanges.
However, it wouldn’t be the same if dungeons would give you karma and gold.
And bad news,
If ANet doesn’t rearrange WvWvW and Dungeon structure, Guild Wars 2 will lose most of its players very soon because yeah, end-game starts from level 1 but unfortunately, it ends at level 80. Things didn’t go as ANet has expected.
Finally,
It is okay that it’d take a month to get cultural armor set, it is okay that crafting a legendary would take months. However, if you give players only one way of doing it, you can’t maintain your online count. You should give them A TON of different ways -profitable dungeons, profitable WvWvW, profitable crafting, profitable farming- then they won’t get bored and complain about how long it takes to craft a single legendary item. They complain about it because they get bored doing the same thing -farming crafting mats- over and over again.
(edited by Valkyrie.2678)
you can turn off this option if you hate that you see damages that other people do. anyways i must see damages other people do. it is more funnier.
It’s not about personally getting disturbed or distracted by it. It’s about “nah just kick him he’s a noob” situations and this is why they will never ever add a feature like this.
1. Nice idea.
2. Not a nice idea. There are no “actual killers” in WvWvW just as in PvE because it is always a teamwork. And if you want that only you should get badges from an invader that you were the one who drained his/her 80% of total HP, you’re being selfish.
3. Awesome idea.
4. Nice idea.
It is clear that WvWvW should mean more than just winning boons for your server.
Do whatever you do, don’t form a group without a guardian.
Q: Why not?
A: Because guardian has a lot of skills for “omg we’re so screwed now” situations.
Well, the issue is the gaming community, I mean players.
The game gives you a goal which would take months to achieve, yet people are complaining about it. I don’t understand that.
And you should keep in mind that nobody guaranteed you that you’ll have a legendary item. Legendary items are not for everyone but only the dedicated players. Diablo 3’s first inferno level difficulty was the same thing, but Blizzard nerfed it to a funny level and then I’m sure you all know what happened.
There should be some special things in a game, something that will not be achieved by anyone, something that will take a lot effort to achieve.
And there are two of those goals in Guild Wars 2:
1. Cultural armors
2. Legendary Weapons
- is a lot easier than #2 and that’s why it will be my primary end-game goal. The whole set costs 119g and I currently have only 10g.
TL;DR There are/should be things in a game that not everyone can achieve and Legendary Weapons in Guild Wars 2, are not for eveyone.
Awesome idea, I’d definitely buy a new pack. I’m playing a female norn.
I think Guild Wars 2 is not the right design for hardcore players, yet. Casuals are happy with the game, also, some hardcores too -including me-
ANet should be aware of those hardcore players and their expectations from Guild Wars 2, so I believe, the first expansion pack will be good news for hardcores.
I’d like to say two things:
1. It is stated by ANet that expansions won’t be charged. So nobody’s milking nobody.
2. Grinding is only an option. Without grinding, you can still get good gear. There are lots of articles out there about how to do this.
Now that ANet is aware of hardcore GW2 players, hardcores should not ragequit but wait for the next content update which is I believe, soon.
Supporting in Guild Wars 2, well…
First of all, you should know that “you can’t achieve anything even if you can heal people”. Even if you can. Have 2k -if even possible- healing power and try to heal people with any class, you won’t be able to do that because ‘there are no healer class in Guild Wars 2’. Boss fights won’t give you anything more than just a bronze medal if you just sit back there and heal people.
So, how do you support in Guild Wars 2? By playing it, by your presence there, you will support people;
1. You can apply boons. But again, I don’t mean sitting in the backseat and throwing out boons.
2. You can hit the foe. Yes, helping other people taking down the foe is an awesome way to support.
Q here: What if I don’t have enough power/stack power&attack?
If so:
3. You can apply Crowd Control(also Condition). With a nice CC build, you can help more than you think. If my foe is dazed, blinded, stunned etc, it can’t hit me. If it can’t hit me, why would I need healing?
Also, you’ll revive downed players. Another awesome feature that allows everyone to support even if they play with a glasscannon build. Think about it, you’re a glasscannon, you stack up power and crit rather than defence and vitality, your skills are all about offense; yet you can support the group you’re playing with.
I know, sounds different because it is different. Will take a little while to get used to but, you will.
(edited by Valkyrie.2678)
That’s where people are getting screwed up. They genuinely have no idea what to do when they have options. Without being directly told what to do, they can’t find anything to do.
’Nuff said. Bravo!
Aaaand…here comes your answer: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-endgame-reimagined/
Last paragraph. Oh and it will be free.
I’m having fun right now, but the play gets a bit monotonous in dungeons. The rule seems to be kill, die, kill, die, kill, die, kill, die and ultimately win by attrition.
Strange. When you’re a healer it is “heal, heal, heal, heal, heal” or a DPS “hit, hit, hit, hit, hit” or a tank “omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, heal mekittenit, omg going down”
Nothing much different I believe.
If it is kill die kill die for you, you’re doing something wrong. For example, as a guardian I am, it is “hit, hit, run, run omg it comes, check boons, check allies, alright tome of courage we’re so screwed, dazedazedaze oh yeah here it goes now, light of deliverance do not fail me!” and so on for me.
(edited by Valkyrie.2678)
Well looks like it will take them weeks to fix again
Nah. No need to be so pessimistic.
It’s based on previous experience such as the straits skill challenge so i’m being a realist
You can still be optimistic, there are lots of other maps in the game.
Awesomeness for totally free = Guild Wars 2
I randomly yell “Excelsior!” in my room.
I have armorsmithing and weaponsmithing leveled to 400. I too have full exotic gear. What I’m currently doing is continue exploring because as far as I know I will need it when crafting legendaries. That’s not the only reason though, I love Tyria and I love exploring.
So I’m pretty much working hard to craft a legendary. I think it will take about a month. When I acquire my first legendary, there will be dungeons I haven’t even looked at, so yeah, there’s a lot to do for me.
“Standart” is not the correct word. Correct one would be “primitive” or “old”.
However, that doesn’t mean you “can’t” like a primitive game. You can like the idea “nothing without farming”, you can like the idea “oh no sleep for tonight too”, you can like the fact that there will be a rich guy who doesn’t have to work so he can play all day long and call you a noob in the game, because he has very, very OP gear because of obvious reasons.
(edited by Valkyrie.2678)
Rule one: never buy a game when it first comes out. Never clearer than here
Not really. Those types of difficulties occur just because you weren’t lucky enough. There are other people sharing this too, I know, but there are also people who don’t have this issue.
I’d suggest you to continue playing but take a break from crafting, so that your progress won’t stop.
I believe ping meter and inspect will arrive soon. But I’m quite sure that we will never, ever see 1v1 duels. Maybe 2v2 or 3v3, but no 1v1 because that will cause endless, eternal " blah class is OP!" talk which is boring and irritating.
Lost in interest for nolifers maybe, yeah. But definitely a thumbs-up for casuals, semi-hardcore players and others.
Being a semi-hardcore -sometimes hardcore- player myself, it is good to see that casual players don’t feel like they are useless, noobs in the game so this keeps them playing.
Also, you can craft legendaries to feed your ego if you’re nolifer as well. Nice feature Guild Wars 2 has.
Alrighty, now let’s take a look at PRO/CON table for this topic;
Cosmetic-wise-only progression;
PROs:
1. You’ll know that none of nolifers will have a character that is four times stronger than yours.
2. Due to #1, nobody will crush you in WvWvW.
3. People in town will know that you’ve achieved something hard by crafting a legendary because crafting a legendary is not an easy process. They’ll notice your legendary item from miles away.
CONs:
1. You won’t be able to sell your soul to the devil and achieve OP items while others have lower level items. So, you won’t be able to play the god in WvWvW. -not much of a CON eh?-
I think this is an awesome system.
Awesome topic and advices. I’ve been level 80 for like 10 days now and I was lucky enough to fill my Hero Tab with level 80 exotic gear
So now, I’m concentrated on crafting legendaries! More spesificially, my first legendary greatsword, which would be Sunrise!
My world completion is at 83% and I have two necessary crafting professions for Sunrise leveled up to 400, armorsmithing and weaponsmithing. I also have 200 skill points, you know for what haha
I’ll take this month exploring Tyria up to 100% and then…FARMING! I’ll farm for 150-200 golds and it will take a month I think, I must finish farming before my exams start
Such a great game. WvWvW should mean more than just badges and is currently a weak part of endgame but, I know ANet will sort this out soon.
I haven’t played Guild Wars and I don’t know too much about ArenaNet but as far as I hear from forums and Guild Wars players, we shouldn’t mind this because ANet does that it right.
Well deserved success by ArenaNet. Even this is just the first, launch pack, game is awesome in many ways. I wonder what it will be like with the first expansion pack.
Congratulations ArenaNet!
There are two problems;
1. They, most of the time, are not worth the effort.
2. Yes, they require strategy and a good teamwork, but in reality you don’t find these often. ANet shouldn’t forget there are casual players and it is really difficult to build up a strategy with them -no offence-
Therefore, I think dungeons need to be revised because most of the players are discouraged by getting wiped over and over again.
Dungeons need to be rearranged a little bit because obviously, most of the players are discouraged by known reasons.
As for WvWvW, it should mean something more than just badges and winning bonuses for your server.
Confirmation Window yes!
Refund system NO!
In addition;
Right click – preview option YES!
I’d like to use spear instead of greatsword. I don’t mean like underwater spear though.
As far as I know, ANet doesn’t like people repeating quests for their rewards. Fair enough, they can arrange it in the way that gives reward only for the first time, but repeatable.
It could be like, a window -or something else. guys at ANet are way better at designing UI than me- that will show how much you’ve explored so far for each map.
Why would this be needed?
Because, say you explored a map by 98%, one POI or Vista left and you tried for an hour but still couldn’t get there. So you might wanna take a break, go and keep getting progress on other maps and then turn back sometime to try again. But when you want to turn back, currently, you have to memorize which map you left at 98% completion. Trying to find it by teleporting several maps would cost … a lot … you know.
So, I thought there could be a table or a list that will tell me which maps are completed, which are not. Actually, I’d like it to be detailed so you can say “oh I left a Vista here” rather than just “oh I haven’t finished this map”.
All, good news. Regina has already confirmed that Anet are working on implementing this.
Awesome news, thanks for letting know.
So, waypoint costs also should be downed to the level you’re downed. This would be awesome and is needed I think.
Oh my, 118 hours and still being confused is unfortunate
I, on the other hand, was fortunately lucky enough to pick my first, second and third favorite classes in beta. I’m currently playing a guardian, level 80, and I really like guardian in all places, all acts in this game. It is like specially designed for me
Also, I have a currently level 8 engineer as my second character. After this reaches like, level 40-50, I’ll start a mesmer as my third because mesmer is a class that I’ve seen never before in any other games.
I should be able to preview the item before I buy it since looks matter a lot in Guild Wars 2.
And I’m tired of hitting Alt+Tab and going on gw2db, searching the item I’m checking out to see how it looks because currently, it is the only place where you can see how items look like.
