The blurriness and graphic-related issues seem to have suddenly fixed themselves. I was just sitting in wvw staring in disappointment at a blurry keep in the distance when suddenly it rendered into it’s glorious clear state that I’m used to. I’m guessing this was related to the lag that the server is experiencing.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I get this sometimes as a bug on cloth armor. Usually it takes a few rounds of travelling to make it go away (way pointing/zoning) or I restart the client.

But if it’s not going away, this could be a bug, however, I just tested it and I cannot get it to occur.

I’m on the Mac client, all medium settings except animation & post-processing are high, fxaa is on, terrain & sky is on, render sampling native. I have best texture filtering, depth blur, & effect LOD enabled. I’ve just played with all settings and I could not get this effect to happen at all. This might be a bug.

I did try to fix this by deleting the local.dat file. No luck. I just went into wvw, which is what I play the most, and I could not believe how blurry that keeps and towers are appearing to me in the distance now. I have tried changing several options. Here is more screenshots and one includes my current graphics options.

They used to appear much clearer and I could even clearly see what was going on with players on top of the walls and on the ground outside, etc. Now if I a player is in any of those positions, they look like a blur.

Oh wow, I just found that someone else posted a similar screenshot showing the change in game appearances. I loved the crisp, rather “mirrored-like” (as he described it) appearance of characters and environments, but it seems to be covered by the white cell-shading which is shown again this shot.

I just really want to know- besides the fact that some people’s graphics options were reset after the patch, was there actually a minor change in the graphics of the game itself? If not on purpose, then accidental?

Have you double checked your in-game settings? I know mine were knocked right down to nothing when I logged in. Maybe your shades or shadows are lower or if you typically use best texture filtering, that may be disabled too.

Thanks for posting the reply. My issues were way worse than this before, but then I realized all my graphics settings were changed just like you said. This thread and even the screenshot I took are actually after setting everything back to their right settings, sadly.

I’m also having an issue with longer loading screens, along with many other people in this forum and game.

I have just always had an eye for the finer details of GW2. It wasn’t until just after the patch when I started wondering if anything was changed about the graphics/looks. It seems some things appear a bit more “splotchy,” if I can use that word for it. Some things have a bit of a blur and I’ve noticed what seems to be a sort of white…overlay(?) across the game screen. Am I imagining things? I know these are not major differences or anything- I just happen to be a little obsessed over how the game looks.

Edit: If you wonder what I meant about splotchy, try to look at the bandits on the bridge or the planks laying horizontal on the bridge. There’s just something that isn’t so defined.

ANet, what’s your say on the matter? Is this how the game is supposed to be? There’s also been a lot of people complaining about a drop in FPS and even some graphics changes after the maintenance/patch.

Check ur CPU usuage during the loading screens, u will note after your ‘usual’ loading period(what ever it is for ur rig) your CPU will idle more or less. this points to waiting on the servers or having a deliberate delay coded into the game.

With this many people complaining in-game in map chats, and here on the forums, I highly doubt that the issue is everyone’s computers messing up. lol

I’m having an issue with objects appearing a little more blurry in the distance than they were even just 15 minutes before the patch. I am playing on a brand new computer and have absolutely no doubt that this is not a problem with my computer, because as I said, I was playing this game right as it went down for maintenance. I am aware that the graphics option “Depth Blur” is associated with this, but that option is not active.

I also have longer load screens than just prior to the patch. I went into sPvP, and when I click to respawn after dying, the loading screen takes 10 or more seconds when it used to be nearly instant. This same thing can be said all over the map of Tyria.

I have to admit that this is not appealing to me and I wish to be able to play the game as I always have. Even before I got my new computer, things were better than what I just described. There is multiple people in-game who have agreed to having the same issues as me, and even here in these forums there are people complaining of the same thing.

None of this was an issue what-so-ever as I was playing right before the 6 hour maintenance began.

I want to say that this is INDEED TRUE. I have a brand new computer and I have been playing GW2 on it for the past 2 weeks. Everything has always been quick, etc. Now it seems that loading screens are so much longer, but I don’t actually have lag once the loading is done. I noticed this in sPvP as well. When I click to respawn after dying, the load is normally instant, but now it takes 10 seconds or more.

SONG plays as a separate group and flanks with portal bombs. Even ND would know that. Getting crashed from 2/3 groups will certainly get you wiped, and is very different from simply joining as one into a megablob. You gotta learn some tactics man.

I don’t think you can judge anyone’s knowledge of tactics over the forum. I know SONG runs their own guild, but they run it alongside SAHP or NYS. This is an okay thing. I’m only stating this again because you deny it. Either way, you saying that forming one megablob is untactful is out of proportion with the server that you are on.

Not all servers are interested in fighting the BG blobs all the time.

JQ got sick of it, TC is sick of it. Honestly, SoR would probably be sick of it if they weren’t used to it from T2 and is mostly full of stubborn diehard people.

But BG finally got what they’ve always wanted, un-competitive wins.

People on SoR are sick of it too… don’t think we aren’t.

It’s only uncompetitive if you don’t turn up

Or if a server overstacks their competition in the coverage war.

But that is just details, it’s easier to say the enemy isn’t showing up, instead of admitting that you outnumber your enemy during certain timezones.

Sorry to interrupt buuuuuut SoR were fine 2 weeks ago. Then we were told it was a training week (on forums etc) and I dunno about last week. Point being is as soon as SoR wins everyone cries numbers….. as soon as BG wins same thing. I think it’s safe to say that any server who wins is labled stacked and it is rare for the “fun matchup” to occur.

Yes, magically BG went from very high to full, and obviously those people transferred there to pve since guesting doesn’t cut it. And of course magically during the same time BG starts queuing 4 maps during SEA.

BG out coveraging their opposition can’t be changed, but at least be honest about it.

BG does not queue 4 maps during SEA and Tarnished Coast is also full. So, what was your point there? SoR has got 2 new NA transfers since BG and SoR were ending the match-up week with hardly any point gap between eachother at all. I’m not saying that BG does not have great coverage, but I am saying that your points were not valid the other week when no one knew who was going to win the match on the night before it ended.

It’s a picture of a TC Zerg…what’s your point? Mine was that SoR and BG have near 24hour coverage and mega blob. We zerg too, but most the time not nearly with as many numbers as you guys do.

But no where in the chat log does it show them complaining about our numbers/coverage so that picture really doesn’t say much.

And I gotta disagree with you. TC is a full server for sure, but there are only a few dedicated WvW’ers, and we don’t have the Oceanic coverage. Not complaining about it, in fact I’m hoping this helps us jump back down to tier 2.

If the people complaining about SoR and BG showed up to fight instead of cowering in PvE and on the forums, TC would have enough numbers to make it a close game.

Why would he bother posting it if it was not a complaint? Anyway, I don’t plan on continuing the conversation, but if you think TC does not have a big wvw population then you’re in denial. TC has always had a large wvw population. They played as the gateway to tier 1 for a long time. People not showing up when the going gets tough makes them fairweather.

The only thing showing what happened last night was 1 screenshot of 20-30 BT in a stack and a video posted by a BT commander. Untill there is a video showing them getting farmed there is no proof. It’s common sense that your enemy will appear as if they had more numbers than you. So it’s not surprising that BT and TW each think their opponent is fielding 50+.

It’s common sense that your enemy will appear as if they had more numbers than you. So it’s not surprising that BT and TW each think their opponent is fielding 50+.

Instead of pointing fingers, why doesn’t BT just GvG TW with equal numbers? Until then, any claim that BT is better than TW is just a laughing stock.

I haven’t seen any claims that BT is “better” than TW. What I’ve seen is chest thumping from TW forum members pretty much enticing a response from BT, which they got. Don’t try to revive this conversation. :P

Fear actually wipes the GvG’s when they try. BT only wipes themselves when attempting to wipe a GvG. This could probably explain.

It’s interesting how BT calls their running away from fights and building ballistas and AC’s at every engagement “trolling”.

BT wiped so hard last night it’s not even funny, the only funny thing is how delusional their members are that after they tried to wipe a gvg they instead got farmed.

The editted video is hilarious also, you should put the whole video up. You should put up the fight at the windmill, the 2 fights at the ruins. Out of the entire night of 60 minutes of BT running/dying, all they got was 3 minutes of them killing some TW and RE, but they don’t even finish the fight where they ended up dying.

The fact that basically all the forum TW members have come to defend themselves proves how you got trolled. You wiped multiple times in the south and I was there to see the huge zerg you called in to “wipe BT hard.” Nothing to be proud of, we see that map zerg led by TW every day.

You keep saying you only had 15, but your other members who weren’t in the 15 for the GvG (they were standing by) joined you in the fight. All someone has to do is open the video to see how many numbers you had on the bridge. Numbers that BT so nicely dealt with.

I’m not in TW and was there watching the fight, the bottom line is aside from the 3 min video BT got ran off or rolled out every single fight. Literally every single fight they either ran into a tower, or were crushed so bad the rest had to run.

Good on them though, that 3 min video is probably the biggest accomplishment in their existence, so here’s to BT!!!

Now if they were only as good at fighting as they are at talking and running they might have something… unfortunately though…

Yeah, I was there for the later fights and yes, it is pretty hard to fight the huge numbers that TW pulls off with their commander tags. This is known. I follow BT quite a bit, and your insult towards them is pretty much not warranted. I know sometimes BT can pull off quite a bit of numbers themselves, but they just weren’t there to fight the carnage train TW formed after the bridge fight.

Na, I just run with my guild. Rallians however tend to levitate towards the easy bags BG delivers, and our guild is quite good at farming them. Can’t really blame them for attaching themselves to us for the quick bags.

I’m very confused by the call out of IRON on this, as the picture is obviously of a TW zerg.

It was IRON working with another guild. The “Squire” is from [IRON], however, because every one of the multiple engagements we had with them today involved emote spam that you literally had to scroll through.
