That’s the real deal guys. After viewing the pvp live stream of “ready up” with the dev character at spvp rank 203 and applying gw2 dragon logic, it all adds up.

It takes 5 person or lesser to kill Zhaitan, a fierce looking ELDER dragon.
It takes more than 30 person to kill sunless, a sausage looking peon dragon.
Thus gw2 dragon logic dictates that the sillier the dragon looks,the tougher it is.

I’m pretty sure the silly dragon in that rank finisher is a spvp rank 200 legendary dragon! Gratz bro! I wanna be just like u when i grow old, my hero!

I disagree about the compensation for us PvP players, we used to play for a 200 rank point chest/win, not 1000. We knew when it was unannounced that our rewards would be this low, and we decided to still play team arena. I don’t see a reason why Anet should use their PvP development time for something like this. We were aware of our low rewards, and yet we still played. It is not Anet’s fault for our decisions. Getting 1k rank points a win in the future should be taken as a gift.

We’re asking for it mainly due to skyhammer exploiters who are not penalised for their actions. If they were punished and their exploited rank/glory gains were removed, I would not care for the retroactive rank points instead.

Went through fractal 48 up to last boss at 4th fractal, after a couple of wipes party leader decided to kick another player and me without notice,not sure who his friend was that click the kick button for other guy and me. I screenshot all party leader names before starting any dungeon/fractal so I whispered him. He quickly blocked me after i whispered him.

The other player and I,who was kicked didn’t bring the team down as all of us have played well up to last boss. Swamp,CLiff,Dredge,Mai trin. It was more of a rage kick since he wasn’t patient enough to try again.But now we are losing out on the last chest for 48 and the progression due to this unfair kick.Any dev can help bring justice?

Reason for 1, glory soon be obsolete.

wvw season 1 achievement chest would probably be pathetic.

Fractured meta achievement rewards is 1 bloodstone brick/1 emp star/1 dragonite and it takes less than 1 day to clear.

season 1 meta achievement chest would most probably be 3 bloodstone brick/3 emp star/3 dragonite since it takes less than 3 days to clear and the deadline is 49 days after season 1 started.

Pvp rank progression was ruined by hotjoins and skyhammer exploits.
Penalising the exploiters might be a huge undertaking as it will involve alot of investigation and effort.
Removing pvp rank progression entirely will just make all the efforts of the legit players go to waste.

I suggest we need to boost up the rank points of legit TPVP players effort so that whatever rank that was gained in hotjoin or the skyhammer,will seem trivial to TPVP players. How this is to be executed is via retroactive reward,similar in a sense to how achievement points reward was first implemented.

Since Data for our matches is already recorded,this would be easy to be executed with accuracy.

For every TPVP match played from 2012 up to 10 dec 2013 patch, a player will earn X Rank points per match. That player will earn a bonus Y Rank points per match won in TPVP. X and Y should be a huge number so as to render the hotjoin and skyhammer farming to be insignificant, for example 2000 rank points for X and 4000 rank points for Y. Taking my data for example,

I’ve played 1656 tournament matches and won 843 tournament matches as of today. Assuming i stop playing until 10 dec 2013 when the retroactive reward starts, base on the data above,i would gain 6684000 rank points on 10 Dec 2013.

These would render all the efforts of the skyhammer exploiter and the hotjoin farmers to be meaningless. This can also serve as an incentive for top tpvp players who have since quit gw2,to return,as the amount of games they have played and won,would have catapulted them high into the ranks.

After which, spvp rank would really separate the hotjoin heroes/skyhammer exploiters from the legit tpvp players.

From here onwards, the rank points for tpvp should remain significantly higher so as to render any form of hotjoin farming to be futile.

I would like to comment on the idea that was mentioned by smiley , “The bigger the difference, the more points for the winners and less for the losers”

Due to low population of spvp players,its hard to get a team arena match at certain times, thus you have a higher chance of facing the same team over and over again.
Thus the idea above can easily be abused by 10 gold farmers. Take turns maxing out on rewards.

Why I say so? Soloqueue is more popular than Team queue,but even when playing solo queue,i keep seeing the same players over and over again in a few hours of playing. Some might say due to MMR,but its more likely due to low numbers of players as well.

My idea for a solution to this type of abuse? The reward should be based on the opponents you have played with for the day(24hours).

In 1st match,you beaten player A,B,C,D,E. Your reward is 5 bonus reward for beating new opponents of the day, a fixed reward for winning the match and “end of match participation gold reward which varies based on performance"

In your 2nd match, if you beaten player A,C,D,E,F. Your reward is 1 bonus reward for 1 new opponent for the day and a fixed reward for winning the match and “end of match participation gold reward which varies based on performance"

The bonus reward should be very high in its amount so that a player feel rewarded but at the same time,he cannot farm that reward in a controllable manner.

The fixed reward for winning should be high so that the incentive to win as a team is there. The fixed reward will have diminishing returns if you win against the same opponents.

The participation/performance reward should be medium so that a player can still get rewarded for his effort,yet at the same time,the reward should not be big enough to make the player compromise the teamwork for the sake of farming the participation/performance reward

The losing team should only receive participation/performance reward. So that whoever afk or sabotages the match, does not get rewarded. Only those in the losing team who continue to fight and rack up some scores will get the participation/performance reward.

What about 499 score losing to 500 score? well too bad,try again.

This idea however, does not solve the problem of AFK players.

I have a question regarding the old/new MMR. How long will it take the new MMR to stabilise?
In the old MMR,i was ranging in the 600+ rank on NA solo queue leaderboards.

After the MMR resets,I’ve gradually increased my rank from 900+ to 500+ to 200+ and now I’m in the 180+.

Also,what happened to the 400 players who had better ratings than me in the past?Did decay remove them or was the old MMR not consistent enough to give accurate ratings?

actually, i came up with an excellent method to determine the “end of match participation gold reward” formula.

use team points. really. it is that simple.

for example,
if end of match participation gold reward for team arena is 1 gold
winning team scores 500
losing team scores 300
winning team gets 500 / 500 × 1.00 gold = 1.00 gold
losing team gets 300 / 500 × 1.00 gold = 0.60 gold
winning team then gets additional 2 gold for winning the match
losing team gets 0.60 gold for their effort of 300 team points

then we look at another scenario where one team destroys the other team
winning team scores 649
losing team scores 100

winning team gets 649 / 500 × 1.00 gold = 1.298 gold
losing team gets 100 / 500 × 1.00 gold = 0.20 gold

in this system, if people wanna farm in team arena, they need to put in some effort to score some team points or else they do not get much at all.

My 2 cents would be, keep the rank acquisition as it is. If you are a rank 71 and working towards your dragon finisher,that would render all your effort meaningless if the dragon rank is removed.

How to improve rank acquisition? Make a separate one that is only progressed through winning in Solo/Team arenas. New skin/finishers unlocked after certain amount of wins in arenas. Also, unique finishers/skins for class specific wins.

E.G 500 TPVP wins using a Necro will unlock a unique finisher in which the earth around the downed person becomes a grave and zombified hands will break out from the grounds,grabbing the downed person and pulling it into the grave.

1000 TPVP wins using a Necro will unlock a unique finisher which continues further upon the 500 TPVP win version, in which after the body is pulled into the grave,Grenth himself appears and extracts the soul from the grave of the downed enemy and completely destroy the soul in a beautiful yet tragic way.

Since there is a spawn timer after death,might as well let the dead enemies enjoy the sweet and long animation of the awesome finisher!

Well I’m glad that my topic has generated so much brainstorming and debate

but the major concern that I’m seeing from most players is:
will gold or any amount of money from losses make people want to afk and bot?

I think it will, simply because as it has been show in almost all mmo’s if you give players an inch they will take a mile.

personally I don’t think you should gain any amount of gold from a loss in any mode only wins (that could be a big incentive for people to want to play competitively, in it to win it i say) and if you do have to earn something from a loss make it something like a consolation such as mystic forge materials to make pvp gear slivers dust etc.

If losing in tpvp rewards gold, then the gold farmers will make the tpvp scene unhealthy.

It only takes 1 gold farmer to ruin the entire team because the remaining 4 will lose morale to play. The moment one person from the remaining four gives up,its 3v5. Then the entire team gives up. Their MMR suffers and they get matched with ppl with lower MMR. Gold farmers who afk farm tpvp matches will have low MMR also.

A new breed of goldfarmers will evolve. They will let the enemy capture 3 points so that the match ends faster. Thus a new match can start and more gold can be farmed.

Please do not reward gold for losing!

HOTJOIN is getting gold? Lol this will be good.

I’m not at the office so I can’t look it up, but if I remember correctly, you get more gold for LOSING Team Arena than you’d get for WINNING a CA/hotjoin match.

Please reconsider. This will ruin what is left of the competitive TPVP in GW2.
We already have problems with AFK in tpvp. If gold is rewarded for losing, why bother winning or even playing in the match? This will make AFK in tpvp more rampant.
Strongly recommend that this gold reward for losing is totally scrapped.

They could keep the changes to the reward system, but just not remove ranks and their finishers. Just have it as this little side progression thing, but not have it display anywhere except on your PvP menu and maybe keep the progress bar on the bottom. This way, you still get the cool new rewards, and yes glory is now gone, but rank points and the rank finishers will remain.

The finishers are not going away. You will likely have until the first ladder season to earn them. After that they can’t be earned, but you will continue to have them. If all you want is additional finishers to work toward, be sure to mention that in the rewards discussion.

Hi Justin. Instead of completely removing the rank finishers that we have yet to unlock when the ladder is in place, can we be given a reservation of just the next rank finisher instead? What i mean is, if someone who is rank 64 when the ladder is in place. he will have the rank 70 finisher reserved for him, so he can play at his own pace and use it once he gets to rank 70. But the rank 80 will not be available to him. Basically its to avoid making our progress redundant. Imagine the pain of being rank 69 and having the rank 70 finisher robbed from you because you couldn’t get to 70 before the ladder is in place.

On another note, please leave the current daily achievement for PVP as it is. Adding 4 new dailies in TPVP will not help the TPVP scene, it will only attract people who wants to clear their dailies and not actually contribute to team play or aiming to win. It will be like hotjoin heroes,having more than 1 person capping an uncontested capture point.
The TPVP players are already little in number,do not fix something that is not broken,you’ll just lose more TPVP players.

I do not speak for everyone,but if you need credibility of how passionate and serious i am about GW2, I’ve played 3614 hours in the past 456 days,rank 81 on NA Achievement Points official leaderboards,rank 239 on NA Solo queue official leaderboards as off this very hour.

You make inaccurate assumptions to suggest that because I disliked your rude and uninformed comments, that I am not successful there. Because winning in WVW is not a measure of skills nor tactics. It just means you have more players,more player coverage throughout the 1 week and more players who are not upscaled to lvl 80. Nothing glorious beating opponents with superior numbers/equipment/level. I rather beat my opponents with superior playing skills and tactics.

It is better to be silent and let other think you a fool, then to open it and prove them right. Of coarse, I didn’t know you or think you a fool before you made this post. Now I still do not know you, but I cannot say much on your behalf on the other aspect.

A 1v1 or 1v2 in WvW is no less skillful a battle then in PvP. Coordinating 100+ players in TS or havok group clashes, both have a very solid level of skill.

Based on your level of bitterness though, you must have lost many more 1v1 and 1v2 battles in WvW then you do in PvP.

Leaderboards has it benefits.

I’m rank 82 in the NA official leaderboards for PVE.
Why I farm AP?
Because I’ve already completed the game 1 year ago and have no goals left. So I want to unlock equipment skins,get free gems,gold,mega achievement chest with lots of goodies inside. And I’ve been in the top 100 ever since the leaderboard was first implemented, so I hope to stay on it for as long as I can until PS4 Deep Down and Dark Souls 2 is out.

I’m rank 236 in the NA official leaderboards for Solo queue TPVP.
Why I improve my MMR.
Because I want to play against stronger opponent who have skills on a level playing field. Players in the higher rank of the leaderboard care for their placement and will not AFK or sabotage their game since it will affect their MMR. So you get better and more challenging matches at higher ranks.

Why I don’t bother with WVW.

If scarlet was successfully caught during the Queen’s Jubilee, i think people would have liked Scarlet better.
Then maybe 6~10months later, another villain could aid in her escape from the prison and players would likely be less kitten ed off at seeing her again.

NA hero, here is the updated screen shot

Rank 8 on the leaderboard has 10 wins and 3 loses.
Rank 10 on the leaderboard has 11 wins and 3 loses.
Rank 15 on the leaderboard has 11 wins and 9 loses.

Goes to show how unstablised the TPVP SoloQ leader-board is at this point in time if players with less than 20 matches can be in the top 15.

it explodes on 20 stack and does massive dmg,so max stack before exploding is 19.
Just type in the internal LFG system for the specific achievement so you can get people with the same interest,but u need to have at least 1 person who can open story mode

How to check personal reward level?

If you are in the fractal,the top right of your screen will display fractal level as well as personal reward level.

If you are outside the fractal,you can go to the portal at lion arch and it will show you your level.

1)Best way to clear this achievement is on story mode so that you don’t have to waste time trying to be lucky to get this fractal.

2)Need 4 cooperative person and 1 person who never completed story mode since you cannot start story mode once you’ve completed it.

3) Max stacks before exploding is 19 stacks

4) Switch off auto attack so that you do not hit 20 stacks by mistake.

5) Only way to increase the stack is during the shield(invulnerable) phase.

6) Assign 1 person to carefully bring the stack to 19,others stop at 10 stack or 15 stacks depending on how well their control of dps is.

7) Bleed counts as stacks so do not use an attack that bleeds

8) Control or deactivate your pets so you do not attack accidentally

9)Practice the 19 stacks throughout the battle so you get the hang of it at the end.

10) Bring down the Champ Ooze HP to around 3~5% and stop dps,wait for shield stage.

11) Kill smaller ooze to stop them from healing the Champ Ooze

12) Once the champ ooze is at 3~5% hp, and has 19 stack,wait for it to start attacking, once it does,you can finish it off.

13) The 19 stack will start to decrease but you can still get the achievement when u kill it as the stacks is decreasing. Confirmed by my team when we kill it as the 19 stack was decreasing to 17 stack.
