Defending is a freaking joke now. Just lost a fully upgraded Hills when a blob melted the gates within a minute with golems and standing on siege is suicide thanks to golems and elementalists hitting everything up there. Thanks for encouraging pvdooring and blobbing, Anet. I logged off GW2.
The line of sight problem with the bow is indeed terrible, it made the longbow extremely clunky and unpractical and I really hope it was unintended by them and will be fixed. Hope.
When they did the changes, they did consider giving Shelter a category. The other heals got theirs and the shorter cooldowns, but they decided Shelter is strong as it is and would become too strong with shorter cooldown as it is, so they would have to change its functionality. And tbh I agree with them, it’s a strong skill
Hahaha Baruch Bay being classy again, just ignore it
Still waiting, Rob.
Continue waiting then, he posted only like 2 hours ago lol
Shield #4 – Allies that are hit gain Protection, enemies that are hit gain Weakness. Now it has strong incoming damage reduction and it will require good positioning to get the benefits from it for your allies
Shield #5 – Add protection, Resistance, Blind, Cripple, Chill or something at least
Yeah, I ran this Celestial Hybrid before the patch when it lacked the important Absolute Resolution, did less damage and it was more about keeping reapplying that 1 tick of burning on them constantly, timing blocks so they would spam bursts on Shelter for the non-icd Amplified Wrath and burn them slowly down with ~700-900 burn ticks added with ~250 iirc poison from Doom sigils (they are there simply for reducing healing and getting an additional condition on their bars). It was easily countered by the normal Mediguard and Condiemesmers. 1vX were nearly impossible. But you could take out d/d Eles.
I expected this build to die out when the burn changes would come, didn’t bother to change a single peace of gear, but after the patch and changes you do significantly more powerbased damage, your critchanges went through the roof thanks to Radiance & new Monk’s Focus and can burst together with burning, since the duration of the burns is much less now but the damage is higher. The style of play changed from keeping a conrolled fight and having burn stack on them, to now applying heavy pressure constantly with burn and power, duration of burns is now too low if you let them breath. Actually hitting torch #4 also became vital for decent burnstacks after the icd on blocks, and it misses a lot strafing/moving enemies (it can miss on even completely flat ground) or hits ambient creatures/pets/clones, so adjust to that.
Preferred for solo roaming simply because of the 1h weapons that lack any way of helping downed allies and a build with 2h ones are imo better for groups. Weapon combo can be changed if you prefer sword and torch together for more ranged on sword, I use the sc/t & sw/f combo to start off with light baiting from Scepter and move to Sword and blocks immediately when they close gap. Never open with Judges Intervention, make sure save it for later in fight for either escape/breathing time or pressure It will get wasted in the beginning. Sword #3 is good for opening against powerrangers before blinking in for melee, or to precast it before JI next to the enemy to quickly hit all 8 projectiles immediately
Postpatch it gets completely wrecked by Eles and Condiemesmers. Mediguards burn down now, you might sweat a little though. 1vX also possible now (I know, not against good players of course).
It also relies more heavily on the condition duration food now.
You can change around some gear for more optimized performance, I haven’t bothered to change anything myself. I’m again pessimistic as always and assume with future burn changes this won’t work anymore. :P
Fix bow and the “no line of sight”-issue when trying to use skills, that was terrible
Firstly, I’m not complaining. Just pointing out what rangers can achieve in terms of stealth. I don’t see why stating facts is taken as complaining these days.
Secondly, I’ve seen plenty of longbow rangers using traps and runes of the trapper in WvWvW and PvP. Besides, longbow rangers using runes of the trapper aren’t necessarily aiming to do damage with their traps in the first place (because that would reveal them out of stealth). It would be used more for utility. Just because a stat on a rune might not be useful to a particular build, that doesn’t mean that the rune won’t be used, especially if it offers a utility that’s more valuable than the stat increase itself.
Well I can’t deny there might be people out there who want to make a build with longbow and a stunbreak, fury and condition removal from survival skills (and of course cooldowns on a healing skill too) for a limited amount of stealth and reduced amount of power or other stat combo available, but normally people would want their gear, weapon and runes to have a symbiosis. Let’s agree to that they exist
With runes of the trapper, a ranger using traps and hunter’s shot would easily be able to achieve stealth every 4 to 5 seconds, if traited, and if they cycle through their skills properly. That’s about as often as a thief would be able to achieve stealth in an ideal situation, given the revealed debuff lasts 4 seconds as well.
So, here we have a class with 1500 range, whose rapid fire can do as much damage as a backstab, and that can stealth just as often as a thief. So, tell me, what is the downside to thieves having 1050 range and stealth, when another class can already achieve the same situation, only with vastly superior range, and other advantages on top of it (for example, ranger pets can continue attacking even while they are stealthed).
The problem I have with the point you are trying to make, is that all you say is that the result will be bad without actually giving proper reasons as to why, aside from trying to dictate that thieves should be close combat classes (which you also don’t give proper reasoning for). Then when someone refutes your point you act as if they are simply not thinking things through, when it actually seems as though I am the one thinking this through much more than you are.
If I can’t see your point, perhaps it’s because you are failing to make one properly. O_o
Trapper runes and traps are condition damage, the Longbow is a power weapon… No Ranger going for trapper runes and traps will be doing any damage with longbow. You lack information about the subject you are complaining about.
I hope not. Bunch of farmers and PvErs looking for achievements and skins will show up. Rather keep WvW unrewarding than seeing the new maps as EoTM 2.
I personally love ground target consecrations being baseline.
Tbh the whole weapon screams of Anets gullible Guardian ideology of being first in, last out where you bravely leap in the middle of your enemies with #3 blinding them, pull them next you with #5, whirl around damaging them all with #2 and finally put down #4 and punish them with Retaliation. Just like Sanctuary and Shield #5, they were done with good intentions but the gameplay turned to be completely something else but were never reworked
+1 gimme :d
What happened was that earlier the spirit weapon traits were scattered all around different trait lines and after the patch they merged them (think they removed the +damage one though) to the Zeal line, giving you more options to trait for some survivability or damage yourself. Spirit weapons still suffer from low health, bad AI, short duration with semilong cooldown and having you give up important utilities for them. But they can be decent in holding points in PvP, so if you enjoy them give them a try (don’t have any builds, sorry)
Shield #4 Enemies hit by it get Weakness, so improved incoming damage reduction combined with the protection (increase duration btw)
Or allies get Aegis
Or enemy gets blind
just something :/
You are that charr and asura running those broken builds? You saw yourself what happened at NC, and don’t tell me it was about skill :P
Small group roaming wise they just seem almost unkillable unless you outnumber them =/ Mesmers aren’t fun at all to meet after patch but eles just seemed insane compared to them, dat sustain, burning, damage, cc and mobility. Oh well, at least burning is getting toned down, it’s way off on my own build too
Who used illusions to hide the Tower of Nightmares still keep bugging me
Guardian support may just feel old since one is so used to it and the new class is fresh and cool, I tried the Ventari tablet out and I don’t know, felt clunky compared to how strong the AOE stunbreak, stab & condition cleanse from Virtue-line itself is, not to mention doubling it with Renewed Focus.
Some raw healing skills like Merciful Intervention and Sanctuary could be updated with the Resistance boon (no blind on you for example when blinking next to focused ally and your bubble from trait or shield #5 wouldn’t miss), or Protection (-33% damage while standing inside that Sanctuary, makes sense right) even but that will probably never happen
Please don’t take this away from the people who are actually thankful for it. Just learn to quick-cast like the rest of us and you will be fine.
+1
No need for +25 movement speed when just moving around solo, equip Greatsword & Sword as weapons, Retreat, Save Yourselves and Judges Intervention (swap for Merciful Intervention in cities without hostile targets), use the blinks and leaps to move around (and the additional F2 leap from Dragonhunter in the future)
What goes for the gear.. Well full berserker, dungeon build works perfectly outside of it too in PvE. Staff is good for tagging mobs in old maps, but it’s pointless in the newer maps since the rewarding system is different
So another niche weapon. Am I right?
Pretty much, yeah… I still want to give it a chance. Having less boon duration with the #4 now after patch annoys me a great deal though
If the new WvW borderland maps are as vertical as I think they will be, I’ll give it a new chance there
‘Fixed’ for now:
Due to its current unintended behavior, the Symbolic Avenger trait has been temporarily disabled until the next scheduled release. If you were using this trait, we suggest you select a different one until the trait is re-enabled.
Signet of Courage gives that, personally I don’t use the signet or like the aura that much
How can this even be a discussion, this update was horrible…for everyone. Not just warriors, also eles, especially necros, guards, …
Didn’t even notice a change with Guardian…
Perhaps you should get off your staff and actually use a useful weapon from time to time.
Got 5 Guardians, I use all weapons, and I don’t use Staff in PvE as you seem to be implying since you are calling it useless.
How can this even be a discussion, this update was horrible…for everyone. Not just warriors, also eles, especially necros, guards, …

Don’t derail videothreads to this comparison of enemy skill level, happened in Guardian subforums and nobody has posted a video there since then.. People don’t want to post them anymore
The bursting is so insane atm it’s pointless to invest in toughness, got 3,1k toughness on yesterday and it was squishy like using zerker
If I roam alone I do it with a Celehybrid as prepatch, In groups I feel it’s better to go power or support (though the support and toughness is pointless atm when everyone can just melt you in seconds) but now I’m waiting for them to fix the burning before I go out there again, felt too easy :S and I know I’m not a good player
burning guard as much as i loved to play it before this patch become so worng
30-40 burning stacks can down any zerk class in 1 sec
Yeah it will be nerfed, don’t worry, I just hope they don’t overnerf it so it becomes too weak again, I really loved burn guard being a thing and his burns be feared instead of only having a few people running burnbuilds and people blatantly ignoring stuff like Purging Flames or Guardian burns on them in general
I would pay, grind or do whatever for an armour set (note: no outfit) matching the Gallant weapon skins
Maybe Mesmers have a bigger group of players capable of looking at things objectively and rationally?
Regardless of your gear Radiance can give you +25% crit chance when wielding 1-handed weapons, it ain’t bad at all from this perspective
Why not add 3 seconds of Resistance on activation?
Thank you. I’ve read Obal’s guide, that’s where the Radiant Fire doubt came from.
Well I know you can doubt my posts anytime, but I think that guy should know what he is talking about
If you are thinking about DPS, then you should read https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Guide-DPS-Guardian-for-PVE/first
it was updated after patch, and looks like sword has lost its position in terms of damage, if that is what you are looking for
Hmm, equip vitality gear and a mace, block 10 attacks, dodge twice :D
It was not a Guardian specific bug, some AoEs attacked unlimited targets etc, but anyhow, it says it has been fixed
Bug Fixes:
General
Fixed server crashes.
Fixed a crash involving the WvW Spring 2014 Tournament ticket mail.
Fixed a bug that caused bonus chests awarded from some events to display incorrect descriptions.
Fixed a bug in PvP in which profession, level, and health information for some party members displayed incorrectly.
Fixed a bug that caused some skills to affect more targets than intended.
Warden: Removed a conversation option that referenced profession trainers that no longer exist."
I love the great sword and axe. Not had time to look at the others. They are already quite pricey. Got the GS skin for 119g. Cheep I know. But now I don’t know if I want to use it, or hold on to it to sell it later.
You want to send it to me and ask nothing in return
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/HELP-We-don-t-want-guild-mission/first
HoT will include a solution for this for both guilds that are WvW, and PvP oriented that want to build and expand their Guild Halls and need the favor generated by guild missions. Same goes for guilds that have a mix of players interested in all three. More info down the road a bit on how this will work once we’ve got it a little more solid on our end.
Edited to add: Everyone will have to do the actual mission to capture the guild hall once per hall though no matter what. If your group online is too small, you’ll need to invite friends (or pay/beg/sing-songs-to-woo peeps in Lion’s Arch!) to come with you and help you claim the guild hall to own one. Or you could always grow your guild
We’re still debating minimum size, you can see a lot of discussion down in the guild CDI thread that’s helping us inform some of those decisions.
And no – you don’t need people to be in your guild to help you capture it. Bring friendly guilds to help you out, ask nicely in Lion’s Arch, etc.
Stop liking them so I can buy them with a smaller price! I have been waiting for skins like these. Now only if you could get the person who designed them to make some armour parts too
Everyone is still getting a bit adjusted here, and since conditions and stuff are completely out of hands (ignoring all of your tankiness, tried my dps-supportguard myself and some dd ele or whatever melted it in seconds) I don’t think many have found a suitable new bunkerbuild yet
It’s a bug, some skills/utilities lost their target limits, so instead of buffing 5 allies you are buffing… quite a lot of persons around you
Here’s another question: how does it feel getting hit by a missile (you are trying to reflect) while still trying to position your wall? Just like Storm, I absolutely agree that , in most cases, where you want the wall is right in front of you. Very few situation that a ranged WoR being very useful ( for example, when zergs are about to clash), otherwise it’s just clunky at best. I would go with statistics.
It feels just as good when getting hit by a missile when you are obviously running towards the place you are trying to place your consecration on, which imo feels 10x clunkier. Gapclosing towards that other small group ain’t fun without teleports and wasting SyG there ain’t good either.
Line of warding is good training so you don’t waste time looking for your mouse around the map or place it in the wrong direction, after some time you notice a way of placing it directly in the right way after a small cameraturn
The “everything is burning” and also the “lol double torch throw”. I can’t decide which one I find more humorous.
I really hope they keep the ability to double throw the torch even if the nerfs are on their way, it’s a good buff for torch and can be used for the strong crit if not for burning
Anyways, pretty much autoattacked a Necro and a Warrior underwater to death with Trident (Light of Judgement), those bounces + permeathing wrath + radiant fire
Playing in my head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owWRPfieJxo
So…. Spirit Weapons with Fury and Quickness? :D
