Will not activate if the traget is standing on your side or behind you, and will instead give a “no line of sight”. The red bar under the skill icon will appear. Your character will not turn around to face the target like it would normally (btw I remember DH bow having this exact same issue).

Leaving Eternal Oasis as your last rotation on F2 for a 33% stronger Empower combined with the quickness you get from stowing the Tome is quite nice in WvW
And the animations look really sexy! Survivability is my problem…
- Tomes and Mantras work well in WvW zerg, but hitting allies outside of that with Mantras can be really hard
- Burn spam in melee is easy even in full Marauder, I’m guessing it will be nerfed
- Tome skills bring an interesting change and are really powerful support tools, lack of defense and movement ability just forces you to quit using them if someone attacks you
- Axe skill #3 felt bugged, it seemed my char didn’t turn around and it gave the “no line of sight bug” if I tried using it on an enemy on my side or behind
Overall Tomes can be really fun but I can’t help but feel really vulnerable when running Mantras and Tomes. I have to run Shelter as my only “oh kitten” button. And it feels like if there is any focus on me I will instantly go down, the Tomes don’t help here.
The amount of support and boons that it can spit out is insane, and I expect nerfs, but it is relatively helpless and you need someone else to take all the hits for you

They are weaker now, they were a real pain when they dominated the roaming scene for 3 years b4 hot, they suffer a lot more from the current power- & condiecreep HoT introduced (they were even unplayable shortly after HoT b4 some buffs)
I am all for giving skills cast-times while giving them some other buffs to compensate and make them stronger. This for Meditations too.
Daze on traps however is one of the lamest and unskilled things ingame. I remember it added to traps only as a band-aid during beta with the reasoning to help us actually get people to get hit by traps. We got the pull then too. Now it is instead used as a spammable interrupt and it makes going melee against DH very lame.
Some build diversity opened up and people are simply testing it out.
Also it’s been 10 months now and lower tier still haven’t adjusted to trap mechanics. I doubt you can take that QQ seriously, while higher tiers most likely will still stick to completely other classes
About the Healway build, Purification might be a better choice simply because receive the light is a bit clumsy to use (allies can dodge it) and you will go down if you get focused
Also since you are using Shield you might want to consider going Heavy Light since you get stability from Shield #5 and possibly stability from Protective Reviver (haven’t tested) when you knock enemies back. You also get stability if your Sanctuary knocks anyone back.
It is only 1 stack with 10s icd however
Is Scepter #2 working as intended? It barely does any damage/hits an enemy standing inside it.
Did those human remains beneath Rata Novus have any story behind them?

They lie on the bottom of that underground pond, I just thought it was strange they put remains and armour of 7 humanoids (skeleton size varies) there while not leaving a single Asuran body anywhere

Yea those boons man, not like condis that can be spammed constantly, stacked high, do ridiculous amounts of damage, and cant be cleansed enough to deal with the sheer spam.
Why care about them when you are running practically unlimited Resistance?
I play a rev sometimes in wvw, and I would sure like to know how I can spam unlimited boons. Must be some super secret special button that I haven’t seen, yet.

Guild groups running around with practically unlimited boons, spammed by Revs and shared by Mesmers. There is not enough corruption or boon removal to compete with the phase they are applied.

And the defensive guardian is very easy to be defeated, since most traits are vannilla and outdated.

The Pure of Voice nerf should definitely be reversed. After its nerf they have slowly buffed conditions severely; made vulnerability strengthen condi damage (why doesn’t protection reduce it?), made condition spam way easier for all classes, made burns stack, made poison stack, made confusion and torment braindead and damage you even if you stand still.
All this ever without buffing Guardian vitality or undoing nerfs to condition removal or buffing condition removal skills, oh sorry they reduced cooldown on CoP and buffed Smite Condition now, that should do the trick

Hammer/Sc+Shield is a very good combination… (it was used as Sc+Focus before HoT…)
Gotta say I’ve been trying it out lately and can agree, I’m starting to like the Shield more than the Focus

What really happened was that the Dev listened to the players fears that DH would be a complete failure (the supposed condie-orientated trap DH freaked everyone out) that nobody would use and did as they demanded (I admit I was there, ashamed now), and buffed everything over the top. Bleeds on traps were replaced with more power, daze was added, boons added to traps, longbow damage buffed 12,5%, healing increased, F3 made to block all attacks instead of only projectiles, everything buffed until we ended up in a situation were basically everything DH has is simply superior to core Guardian, instead of being an alternative traitline.
I’d really blame the playerbase for the situation we are now in

I still use the base guardian builds but changed out Virtues with Dragon hunter because of the overwhelming strength of the DH virtues (and the option to use trap now and then).
I switched back from DH recently since all that CC-spam makes the DH virtues unreliable in big fights that seem to negate all the stability you can toss out
Nothing dumb about realising the fact that this elite spec too made its core class obsolete.
What reason is there to not go DH? Burn-hybrid and AH-shout build?
They could start with reversing the nerf they did on Pure of Voice (shouts removing 2 condies instead of one) back when there was less condiespam in game
Very close to what I run right now; I still use Judge’s Intervention to close gaps but will definitely consider switching it out depending on the situation.
Also, I assume you run with the trap trait (Piercing Light) with two traps spec’d? I keep switching between that and soaring devestation. Again, I suppose it depends on if I’m roaming or running with others.
I dropped JI when I’m running Longbow since when running it I’d usually want to keep the gap open, but if I switch to melee the 600 unit gap close on Sword and 800 on F2 feel enough with added pull from F1, and I prefer Piercing Light which can indirectly mitigate incoming damage with the interrupts while Soaring Devastation is an awesome crit when it lands the target, I felt it was too easy to miss and not worth to take over cooldowns on the traps
Hmm I got rid of smite conditions in favor of a trap on my medi-DH and kept contemplation of purity. If the bug is gone, should I be switching these out for more damage (WvW)?
Personally I’d go with:
Purification – Interrupt, Blind, Regen, +8k heal on trigger
Smite Condition – Fury, Damage, Heal, condie removal
CoP – Condie removal (not used for the fury)
Test of Faith – Damage, Protection, Interrupt
RF – Simply too god for your survival to be switched out
this has nothing to do with ppk being turned on, stealth has always attracted the worst kind of playerbase in WvW roaming since forever, they only left thief momentarily and bandwagoned to new overperforming elite specs and now return when the elite specs are getting toned down and thief buffed.
pre-hot stealth gank groups plagued the roaming scene as usual, there was even a short duration when they moved to mesmer when they were able to burst down +3k armoured builds within a sec from stealth until it got toned down
Honest question, what do you use Sanctuary for?
Stomp-preventions/interruptions and closing of narrow points mostly, combined with available Wards, sometimes it functions as a ranged interruption of opponents healing.

20 sec cooldown reduction ain’t bad at all
