I’m levelling my guardian as we speak. Legit answers should I jump ship or will we be fine? Only other class I have is engi. Only other class I’d enjoy is probably mesmer or elementalist. Should I stay guard?
Guardian will still be the best class around, other classes just needed compensation for how awesome Guardian is

I liked the way Mediguard seems to be stronger in future, but yesterday after paying a closer look (I admit, I have been veeery lazy on this since there has been no news on how the new armor attributes will look like and the shown traits/numbers will likely still change) on the traits I noticed retributive armor no longer exist in its current form and will instead be competing with AH and Monks Focus as a ferocity and toughness boost instead. Superior Aria combined with Pure of Voice (good?) and having a 20% boon duration while wielding a staff instead of the 20% on all weapons while just speccing 4 into Virtues in current game, and the Virtuespec seems like a must since it will bring a) stability b) stunbreak c) condition cleanse to allies, so what support Guard would not spec into these lines? I had hoped the support Guard could somehow make up for their lack of DPS with the promising +30% damage from combo of burning & symbols but it seems unlikely now, I liked the idea of people actually avoiding carefully Guardian symbols instead of seeing them as a minor annoyance as it is now (atm standing inside your own symbol will get even squishy specs just walk inside symbol and DPS you while you Empower/whatever since the risk is too small compered with the gain [damage/interrupt]).
So, you, who have put more thoughts into this subject, what do you think?
It was a bad build it was dependant on the buffs, you are supposed to have them only as a bonus for your build and be ready to lose them most of the times.
Might was nerfed, stability was changed, now there will be less condition power, power and vitality. Next should be the +40 condition duration food nerf and perplex runes removed completely and I would be happy
I doubt the weapon skins stay unlocked
Good to see them gone. Never had any of those stacks when defending anyways, maybe briefly after capturing a camp back but then losing them again immediately when trying to 1vX that enemy zerg or roaming group

Nah. It’s a relatively low cost skill that gives a good bulk of mobility. It provides swiftness instead of a 25% boost, with all the pros and cons of that. But it costs no trait points or rune slots, and doesn’t require a specific weapon either.
I find it a plausible contribution as to why Guardians don’t have access to an always-on 25% movement speed ability.
Not even shoutbuilds use Retreat, it has an extremely high cost since it takes a whole utility slot and removes your own survivability when competing with consecrations, meditations and other actually powerful shouts. It needs to be traited for shorter cooldowns and an Aegis heal to make up for that. It is one of those skills that look good on paper but when you go out there and get in combat with other players, you notice it doesn’t work.
Outside of mapping in PvE or blocking some telegraphed attack by an AI-mob it has not much uses, unlike a permanent, uncorruptable +25 minor trait. With Lemongrass, Melandru Runes that is a permanent -90% cripple, chilled and immobilized. With Guardian you can reach a 6 second window of 98% if you have traited Purging Flames.
I’m happy the Mesmers get it, but stating freaking Retreat is a good reason to keep movement speed from Guards is a joke.

This specialization will be the DH with traps. I can still armour and dye him up to look like a shiny knight and the weapon skills got all the light blue effects, so I’m satisfied.

I fear we will get eaten alive. Condi cleanse will be a Problem on trap guard. If there ever will be such a Thing. (Full traps) .Heal Trap should get a condi cleanse. None of our weapons have a reliable form of condi cleanse so we have to cover this by Utilities or virtues (Long CD). And at the end of the Day we still have a swiftness issue that either Forces us into the Same Old rune sets or locks another utility.

The longbow brings projectile finishers so in theory you can cleanse a few condies with them (I know, won’t work that fine in midcombat but you know, it’s something at least)

ANET just stated that they want to make Mesmer unplayable, except to supper gamer kids with maxed out computers and no life to speak of. The real joke is “Skill Based Play.” That’s ANET’S code for “requires multiple combos and perfect timing to be workable.”
What does player skill and knowledge of a class have to do with being “gamer kids with maxed out computers”?

This is so ridiculous. ALL classes should have high skill level required, nothing is more horrible than having builds that carry bad players, that then makes them think they are good.
You should be happy Chronomancer will be one that when mastered you know the player is actually good.
P.S. I really hope the Chronomancer will be considered “unplayable” by the seemingly ‘average gamer’ so I can learn it and get even more buffs from all the “unplayable”-qq

Why are people so obsessed about getting to do a few events in a PvE map?
Hmm all the arrowskills will count as physical projectiles (AA has 20% chance, both else seems to be 100%), so that’s some personal condie removal right there when shot through any of your light fields, like bow #4
Less rooting when using them! It is very dangerous to be a sitting duck in GW2 combat where you want to be moving around

The closer it gets the more hyped I’m getting, what interests me most is what sort of combo fields, if any, the traps will be, their cast-times (combined with activation time), cooldowns and of course the damage/conditions they will apply, new possible combo finishers from F1 and F2, and the Wings of Resolve just looks phenomenal (imagine male Norns and Charrs

The new F3 should also make proccing blocks less random and makes it possible to combine stuff like Rune of Defender with the healing trap
Moreover MANY of you have always wrote that ranger is strong and without problems or limits.

Yeah I’m just addicted to the unremovable/corruptable +25 movement speed when it comes to WvW roaming, one of the problems they now bring for hybrid mediguard is the loss of 30% condition duration from Zeal, currently I’m running a celestial version of it and part of me is sad that it won’t probably work anymore after burnchanges, but the other part is happy with theories of new and possibly better builds
