I’m confused – why do you need more than one? I get it if you made a sylvari (cough) and re-rolled to the true guardian race – Asuran … but, yeah….
WHY?
Well I started off with having only a Norn as my main, but after a few times jumping between PvE and WvW and forgetting to change correct accessories, weapons and traits before it was too late (“here, admire my toughness and healing stupid dungeon boss” or “why aren’t my meditations healing me halp” etc) I decided it was enough and made separate characters with separate gear and traits, and then it took a bit off. 2 for PvE, 1 for Zerg, 1 Mediguard and the Charr is basically my testdummy I try out builds on and he gets rekt 99% of the time.
And basically everything Keksmuffin said above me…
But that’s just me, I’m not trying convince anyone should do more than 1 character
That sounds like the fix to minimum price to guarantee that what you get selling it on the TP is not less than what you get from selling to a NPC vendor.
Assume the vendor price is 1s98c (one less than what the minimum use to be), once you deduct the 15% by selling on the TP, you only picked up 1s69c, some 29c less than if you simply sold it to any vendor. At 2s33c, when you deduct the 15% from the TP, you end up with 1s98c.
So before, you lost coin selling at the +1c over vendor on the TP Vs a vendor and now you break even.
It seems you are fully correct, thank you. This was not a fix I needed but guess I’ll just suck it up and accept it, luckily I managed to purchase a fair amount of my items earlier
http://www.gw2crafts.net/ this site will help you save both time and money when crafting.
Just in case you haven’t been told since nobody has mentioned to you about the Ascended accessories demanding a defensive and offensive utility slot, – you should be able to submit a ticket about it, I think Anet is able to help you get your correct Asc accessory – typing in chat /wiki item will direct you to anything on the GW2Wiki which should be used at any time you are unsure of anything, especially before buying expensive items
There was an item I used to offer and buy for 1s 99c, but now I can’t offer anything below 2s33c – tried both typing and scrolling down but it just stays at 2s33c
So a new guy comes and tells us how fascinated he is with the game and then arrive to bash the whole game for him and now you’re discussing gems and hours of gameplay? Wtf man

?
Why longbow over rifle? Why mace off-hand skills, even with axe main hand?
Well Purple Miku answered those already in his post, basically the Rifle does nothing while the longbow brings team support (might) and the offhand mace brings most damage compared to other offhands
Nice !
Next time tell him to learn to evade the easiest dodgable skill in game
In the Mesmers defence, he was hit by Hilt Bash before Maul according to that combat log
Welp, looks like those videos will really be needed to convince people even a little bit. Mind throwing the build out at the same time? Always interested in this subject
They’re not really viable in most settings. Seems like they were only made for lesser skilled players to annoy others.
Just like that account name of yours?
Without any buffs I’d recommend a minimum power of 2k, crit chance 40% and crit damage 200% for a Mediguard and I’d drop the shield completely.
Metabattles Meditation DPS Variant works well

If you really want to casual ppl to get into metas and listen to you, you guys really need to learn how to say it – this thread is pretty much the opposite lol, and atm half of this boards “elitists” seem to be banned or infracted all the time, for a reason i guess
Nike! does it pretty well in his videos imo, could take example from him
That’s the spirit!
Look, I know the image of a Guardian casting out a lot of heals while banishing and pushing away foes from your allies is a tempting one, but unfortunately in this game (in PvE) instead of trying to outheal the sick amount of incoming damage you have access to tools that can prevent and mitigate incoming damage instead, through blocks, reflects, condition cleanse and blinds instead.
Even if you how try to heal your partymembers the enemy mobs will just outdamage the heals you are able to cast out, so it’s better to kill them quickly. I know in the beginning she will feel she will die a lot because with the recommended builds you will end up with a very little healthpool and a source of little toughness and you will feel a little tricked by the image a Guardian has, but you will eventually get hooked on the big numbers you are dealing while supporting your partymembers even though they don’t realise it or thank for it.
So my suggestion would be that you and her would read the link Harbinger posted to Obals guide, it has everything covered, and then she could pick the ‘Max Utility’ build, which would be 4/5/0/0/5 with full berserker gear and scholar runes – however, as Obal has written, we can start off by mixing in some gear that gives a bit more survivability and some cheaper training runes and sigils. You can choose between soldier, celestial and knights to mix in with the berserker gear, I would recommend choosing soldier for the sake of time consument crafting celestial does just for training and knight is not that much more beginner-friendly than berserker
So I’ll post two builds: the training build, and the build she should try to slowly progress towards by replacing a soldier trinket with a berserker one when she feels ready
Yes, I know, the first reaction will be “this is not how I imagined playing Guardian at all would be, I don’t like this”, but it’s a bit like when you as kid hated the salad mom forced you to eat, but then later one day woke up as an adult and realised you actually like salad and know it’s good for you
Since you are using both GS and Mace you could pick Writ of Exaltation, but that’s just a personal choice of mine, makes hitting with the symbols much easier and forces the enemy to either stand in them or use more time to move out of them. I’d also second Amins suggestions of Intelligence sigils, they work wonders on builds with low crit chance (I noticed there is also no weapon stats picked in the build you linked)
P.S. Respect Mace and Focus, ppl – sick burst potential
There are mobs in the game that don’t count as kills, thus don’t activate things like stacks from sigils or Renewed Justice when killing them. Mostly just found during dungeons or events. What sort of mob was it that you killed?
One thought that just started bothering me was that… Why was Master of Peace down there, in middle of all Mordrem minions instead of running in the opposite direction?
This is gold. The guy saying miku should l2P and then linking his own video. Thanks for the fair laugh.
That was supposed to be the whole joke
Maybe all these pro players could link up some vids of them speed clearing the content. Help us poor noobies out.
Fine, here you go, it’s actually pretty easy when you know what to do
Well if you want even less people to run dungeons, then sure
That sounds really awesome! The current Living Story system already tracks all your achievements in the instance, should not be that hard to implement in dungeons – if it would be too time consuming they could just make each boss/challenge trigger their own chest with x-amount of gold/bags inside – would not need to wait for the end to receive 1 chest/award for 100% of your reward, instead you could get like 20% for each boss/challenge. That way the disconnects and getting kicked would feel less punishing since you would get at least something (the greens in a champ bag you get don’t comfort you so much after being kicked at last boss)
I think it’s a good idea, would help new players to get into dungeons and slowly work themselves to play without any buffs.
This way the Devs could even make really (really) difficult dungeons for the hardcore players who would receive a really huge reward for playing without buffs and the average players could receive some decent one. I think it’s wrong that some person who dedicates a huge amount of effort atm to solo/play with less players (without exploits, note that) to go through a path but get the same reward kitten players would (unless he sells which is totally ruining the game and he is evil and should be permabanned like forever and stuff)
Try equipping full berserker gear for more DPS
I still don’t understand what else you are doing with Barrage against a zerg other than tagging enemy players for yourself. Barrages get ignored by big groups completely
[quote=4568395;Sandrox.9524:]
Wait what why does my post get the thread removed from stickies? Sorry guys, my bad
Pugging equals masochism.
Yeah that is exactly what I have been thinking, I have been playing around with the build editor and the new Sinister stats (add Rabid gear to editor, add amount of toughness gained by it to power and remove it from the calculated amount of toughness itself), with berserker gear I could push up the basic burning tic to be 704/s while keeping power at 2162, crit at 45% and ferocity at 201% which should be OK, but, you’d lose so much own survivability again that I am not sure if it would be a good idea to invest in burning if you would not be able to stay up yourself for so long that it would start burning through them. With 10 stacks of might which should be doable to keep up with blocks, and 25 corruption stacks it would be up to 903/s however
Please teach me how to see behind me aswell as infront of me or above me.please.
The funny part here is that this is written by a guy who plays the two classes in game who have access to stealth and can walk up to people undetected
Yup that is one reason I can not simply go to other games, the character customization in them always feels weak compared to the rich variety of options here
Btw just if you are not aware there are more face- and hairstyles, eye- and hair-colours exclusively available in total makeover-kits, which are available in the gem store (sounds like I’m working for Anet haha)
Question to all of you guys, how much should the basic burning tic (without any might or stacks) be to be considered effective and not just be ignored by players? Would 800 be sufficient enough or is it still too weak?
People would QQ even harder about QZ + RF ranger.
Again.
Don’t tell anyone but I’d totally exploit this bug called dodge even easier then, would only need to do it once
I can only assume one of the following:
1. You did not watch the video (or if you did watch the video, you did not bother to LISTEN to what he is saying)
2. You linked the wrong video for us to watch
3. You are referring to additional videos that are not linked
4. This is some personal vendetta to troll WoodenPotatoes
Well this happens everywhere on the internet, when someone creates a topic about a hot potatoe, ppl usually with a strong (easily confused with biased) opinion of said subject storm into the thread without further reading what is going on and post something without further thinking lol
Another video by same person, or “kid”
thing is wooden potatoes keeps his stuff objective, while the “adults” here… well
Wait, what, was it not a few weeks ago that longbow rangers were on all teams running around being OP? Lol
This board.
(edited by Vikkela.7261)
the “it’s a slap in my face mi-mi-mi-mi”-guys have no idea how a big company works…
Why am I supposed to care about what that kid says?
you need to be over 15 to call other ppl kids, top kek
Hahaha that is a funny, yet a more sad one
What viable Guardian build are you running to keep your burning tic at 900??
Hey, I remember reading quickly a calculation of ranger DPS compared to other classes after patch and iirc it was pretty decent now? I have been looking for said thread/calculation, even googling but couldn’t find it, so at what position was Ranger now?
last thread also got deleted and that was rewarded with 2 permabans for the griefers.
think before you speak.
2 fish in the ocean, good work
gg supporting griefing, devs
yawn
thank you for your reply
only hits 3 targets + the basis of the build has enough regn from boons (if you have some) to obsorb those 3 hits.
let alone troll ugent isn’t overpowered by retal for main hand axe.
Yeah I was just joking, I’m just trying to point out that it’s only a problem if you go full DPS on someone with retaliation while you are squishy yourself. I find confusion and torment much worse
Managed to avoid an infraction again, thread got deleted before I was able to post
gg supporting griefing, devs
[&AgFICQEAAA==] Hmm this looks like it is meant for Guardians, 30 second cooldown on the block heal, wonder if it will add the Aegis after shelter is used? No cooldown on the regen, however
Still won’t be a rune I would choose over Travelers outside a group/zerg, I value the +25 movement too much
Take your time man, don’t need to stress it – takes the fun out of the game in such an early stage. What level are you now btw?
Hmm weird I never noticed any retaliation on my Axe-condi ranger :/
It does not disappear if you have simply logged in to the game during the time it was “active”, it will stay unlockable for your account later
try to put your siege outside of throwing range once and have 2-3 players with brains to stand between the siege and the disabler-guy for once
yeah, instead of deploying that catapult 1 meter from the wall deploy it further away
requires too much thinking? you can’t simply waltz inside a t3 tower now with your flame rams, you actually have to think a little? how horrible
Well, 5 atm. Was thinking of giving a burning or spirit build a try next, might level up a new toon for that
