A silenced player can’t talk in either map or team chat, and cannot use /say, but can still talk in private channels. The goal is to provide a ‘nuclear option’ for players, for when a player is persistently disruptive to everyone else, and reasoning with them, or ignoring them, has failed.
So, just to get my head around this, a silenced ‘troll’ cannot talk in either team or map chat but can still grief you in a whisper?
Sorry but what’s the point in that?…and what if you’re the troll doing the silencing?
‘Dominion of Winds’ somehow makes me think of beans.
mmo.
It’s ‘Massively Multiplayer Online’ not ‘Me, Me Only’.
/sigh
They’re punting the game out on Amazon for 40 bucks – shop around…you’ll probably get it cheaper.
Tengu are too much of a ‘beige’ race, a bit like Quaggans, only not quite so annoying.
Skritt, on the other hand, already show a reasonable integration with the current races, their own city which, unlike the Tengu, is mostly accessible and some degree of pre-established class system; thieves, bottle lobbers (engies) etc.
Skritt please – at the end of the day it’s all about the ‘shinies’.
Non RP – You play a character
RP – You are your character
Actual game-play, questing, gathering, crafting et al, remains the same.
Jeez! People whining about an April Fools prank?
Get over yourselves – the joke’s on you!
If you just want to play around with builds, without levelling or unlocking skills/traits then…
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
…is as good a place as any to start from
Personally, i always thought it was more about the journey…not so much the destination.
Nobody begins at rank S – it’s a learning curve and, just because a player may perceive themselves to be at a given rank now, it just gives the whole ‘categorising’ thing an elitist ‘twang’.
Just taking from the examples provided, it’s like telling someone that they’ve no reason attending the Jungle worm fight because, as far as you’re concerned, they’re nothing more than Fire Elemental ‘button mashers’ when, once, you were that masher yourself.
So? – there’s no ‘guild wars’ in guild wars 2 either.
There’s already an ingame system…it’s called ‘chat’.
When a boss appears, someone usually posts a waypoint and, thanks to an external event timer, even tells you how long you’ve got to get there – which totally negates the need for an annoying ‘hey listen’ navi, fairy-like thing popping up on your screen every 2 secs.
GW2stuff has an event timer (with overlay) and there are also apps available on both itunes and play store…what more do you need?
You could easily say the same for karma gear vendors…
Anet thanks you for the heads-up…lol
I’ve never seen, or received mail from, a gold seller…ever.
‘Never look a gift horse in the mouth’.
Just for fun, what new weapons would you like to see on your engi in the future – things that may not exist in the game currently or possibly changes to our existing weapon skills.
I’d like to see something akin to a cattle prod – a 2-handed melee style weapon which could build up charges, when auto attacking on 1, to ‘unlock’ further skills in the chain.
The weapon itself would apply conditions on enemies but also have the ability, when targeting friendlies, to apply boons or healing depending on how many charges had been amassed.
Currently, kits aside, we’re a bit shy on actual weapons so what others can you come up with (whilst we wait for the update to drop)?
Mobile turrets anyone?…
Necros have a scythe animation which (i think) works on all staffs.
If that doesn’t float your boat, there’s always Final Rest (got it on my necro) and that’s quite scythe-ish or if you’re really feeling flush, there’s a scythe skin but it’s very pricey.
I don’t understand.
I have 4 chat panels – map, combat, party & guild (all set up with different channels) – and none of those get deleted on re-log.
The true test of the bored MMO player…is to delete your character(s).
I get bored…but not THAT much
It kinda beggars the question though that if you knew, through right-click previewing, that weapons/armours appear differently on an asura…why spend any time at all gearing up if you didn’t think the race was right for you?
You’d have to be pretty blinkered in any city not to have seen armour sets on other races, so why wait so long?
https://www.g2a.com/guild-wars-2-heroic-edition-cd-key-eu.html
That’s 24.79 euro
Hardly a king’s ransom.
I don’t care tbh.
Just let ‘em get on and do their thing – there’ll be plenty of time for moaning, after the update drops, without the need of ‘theorycraft whining’ beforehand.
Whether (or not) the game moves in the direction any player wishes is neither here nor there – there’s bugger all anyone can do about it anyway.
They (kind of) have #4 already, in the form of the daily ‘[X] killer’ – but it’s 40 not 100.
#9: Don’t really see the point as you’re never THAT far from a waypoint anyhow, a couple of seconds running or dropping some real cash just to go ‘door to door’? – i’m a shanks’ pony kinda guy.
Didn’t fancy posting in ‘world recruitment’ then?
Get your graphics perfect before you loot our hard earned cash
You can preview before finalising, you know?
I play asura characters…and they clip all over the place (staff through the ears!) – but you get used to it.
Still, submit a ticket…you might get a refund.
I have the same problem with one of the new hairstyles from the total makeover kit.
If you apply a base accessory colour, say ‘antique gold’, then try to colour match the same base colour on regular armour, it doesn’t match at all – i tried with several colours but got the same result.
In the end i opted for a ‘close as’ but surely you’d expect some kind of uniformity?
Well, you know the old expression: ‘Nope.’
I’m wondering why people take time to post on forums.
Everyone loves a good rant.
Look everyone, a ‘gimme expansion’ thread.
How original.
Pointless.
To avoid any ‘buy to win’ scenarios, store bought skills couldn’t be game breaking – and if there’s no ‘advantage’ to players spending real money on such skills…then it would defeat the purpose to sell them in the first place.
I want a new expansion because i’m bored – plain and simple.
Lateral progression isn’t ‘progression’ at all…it’s gameplay limbo.
LS? – puh-leez! – it’s like buying a book and reading the same, boring chapter over and over.
Listen to the masses Anet – give us what we want.
maybe next year.
Here’s a link to a guy making a simple quest using Neverwinter’s Foundry tools:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz_NnP4u3jQ
Take a look then ask yourself again, whether or not (if similar tools were available in GW2) you would have the inclination to attempt to put out something of ‘near game’ quality yourself…or just leave it in the hands of the professionals.
It’s all very well to say ‘Gimme the tools…and i’ll do this, and this, and this’ etc. but could you actually do it?
Player made content is generally a mixed bag – for every good mod there’s a hundred bad ones.
Personally, i think GW2 doesn’t need player-made content to make it any more than it is at the moment – given the choice of quantity over quality, i’d take quality hands down…even if it does take longer to produce.
Sweet Jeebus! – I was, like, 15 seconds into that video…and wanted to harm myself.
If that’s your idea of fun…no wonder you’re bumping your own topic.
No, no…and a resounding NO.
its a needed thing even back in the midevil times mounts is needed for long distant journeys.
Ya, i mean yes – literally everyone (and i’m talking EVERYONE) had a horse back in ‘ye olde’ medieval times.
Alright…maybe not everyone…and maybe not horses as such…but they did have a pony – shanks’s pony – and that, my friend, is what you’ve got in GW2.
Be grateful.
/sheesh
That pic’s marginally better than the films…combined! – nice work
Whiny posts – i don’t wanna see them…but they exist, so i ignore them (for the most part).
Somehow, i doubt (don’t quote me) that something as fundamentally game-breaking as too many commander tags on-screen is THAT high on the devs fix list.
Personally, i like seeing them – they’re usually an indication where the fighting’s at.
I stared 10 minutes at it and almost cried one night
You might wanna dial back on the weed, son, if that’s seriously the only problem you have
Rata Sum has the absolute best layout for doing just about anything. I have all the races and they all call RS home.
This. I’ve always hated Lion’s Arch, so I’m not sad to see it go. I’ll just do all of my stuff in RS like I always do.
Same.
You never know – when it comes to rebuilding, they might look to the Asura for inspiration (wishful thinking).
I agree (to a degree) but i think the change could’ve been a bit more gradual as opposed the the ‘log out in ’picture postcard’ LA, one moment, then relog into GW2’s version of the blitz the next.
Given that no LS update has dynamically changed the world to date – I foresee the same thing happening, just in reverse, once the event finishes – from ‘Aaargh! the miasma, we’re all gong to die’ to ‘What does a Sylvari think about?’, all in the space of a couple of seconds.
New LS ideas are fine and all but they’re just as random as the current ones.
I’d much more prefer some kind of story continuity as, at present, LS is like trying to read a book with every other page or chapter missing.
they will never consider it.
Just look at the difference in dates between your post and the last one.
They haven’t.
What is known of Mantle currently is only from a few slides of a PowerPoint
Hmm, added support for what’s basically a drawing board idea?
Kinda jumping the gun a little, aren’t we?
None of my friends has any interest in returning
You’ve gotta love threads like these, they sound so dramatic.
Right up to the point where the problematic ‘thousands of non returning players’ they seem to suggest turns into one dude…and a couple of his mates.
I view most LS with the same disdainful eye as JPs – most of it isn’t relevant to me, I’m no AP ‘must have’ seeker by a long shot, but I’m not about to chuck it all in ‘just because’.
Please provide an onscreen indicator showing which weapon set you have equipped – like gw1 – or representation of which ‘on weapon swap’ buff is currently available.
Would be handy for players using the same weapons for both sets.
1) Race changes
2) Weapon swapping for Elementailst/Engineers
3) Player to Player trading
4) Account bound dye
5) Stat change for Ascended weapons
6) Healing class (Holy Trinity)
7) Stealth
8) Mounts
9) Free items (for no logical reason, other then op thinks they should be entitled to them)
10) Suggestions that try to turn GW2 int WoW
Yes I realize the search feature is not that great. If it ever worked. But honestly DO we need keep getting spammed with the same post over and over in this forum. Honestly I understand why Anet never peaks in here. Half the suggestions are the same the other half make no sense or would be extremely difficult to implement.
BTW feel free to add your own to the list.
So, just to get this straight, your BIG suggestion is to stop making suggestions…in the suggestions forum?
Could’ve saved yourself a lengthy post and just asked them to fix the search engine.
Anyhoo, didn’t you realize, people don’t actually ‘read’ forums – i’ve seen topics like this before…
There should be a set rules for the type of weapons for each class
…and in one comment you’ve just borked your own thread.
Why shouldn’t a ranger carry a rifle? – makes a lot more sense than roaming the wilds with a bloody sword.
You criticized GW2
I played the game more than most others, I am allowed to
I’ve (probably) breathed more air than you have…but it doesn’t make me any better at it.
To answer your question, however, i don’t think the skill system is ‘boring’ as such – just limited but can be tweaked by altering traits, armor, weapon, sigil & runes – much to the same degree as skill swapping, for better builds, in GW.
This probably isn’t a bug as such (don’t know where else to put it) but when casting GoE, the timer ticks down from 120 seconds but resets back to 120 seconds when the elemental dies – making the total CD 180 seconds and not 120 as stated in the tool-tip.
