If they ever made a subscription model for GW2, they’d either have to give subscribers loads of extras, to warrant paying for something that’s been free since release, or severely kitten the existing game making the subscription model seem worth it.
Scenario 1 only creates a 2 tiered system with subscribers having an unfair advantage over non-subscribers (something A-net appear vehemently against given the game’s horizontal progression and omission of addons) whilst the 2nd scenario alienates current f2p players by taking away (or limiting access to) everything that they’ve grown accustomed to since release – ultimately only serving to reduce the player-base not increase it.

From your first post, the words ‘ranged’ and ‘pet’ certainly narrowed down the field enough for you to make an educated guess on which class to choose.
But, as has been already stated, roll ’em all and see which one fits.

Would probably be quite easy to do if all the hairstyles were similar – short, straight etc. – across all races but once you start throwing in bunches, pig-tails or dreds, you’re asking for trouble as hats wouldn’t be able to ‘sit’ uniformly on every character’s head.
It may seem lie a bit of a cop out but if everyone appears bald…then everyone’s the same meaning no headaches for the designers.
I could be wrong…but it makes sense.

An inability to take 2 seconds, out of combat, to name your pet ‘bob’ (or whatever) says absolutely nothing about the quality of the game…but speaks volumes about the player themselves.

Depends.
Most players aren’t THAT fickle that they have to change their socks every 15 seconds…for the sake of fashion – but, that being said, there is a percentage of the player base with that kind of disposable income to drop a large amount of money on the game…even for vanity items.

It’s not possible.
When you’re wearing an outfit, if you disable the headpiece you’re basically turning off your original clothing as well – so re-enabling, even with another head item, puts you back at square one…fully outfitted again.

If they were to give rangers a 200% boost…then they’d have to give something similar to the other classes (for balance).
There are already enough ways to increase your speed in-game without going OTT.
By the way, that’s one moose of a game…no wonder people want to play through it fast lol.

I think people are hoping to see a brand new LA, as opposed to the nautical themed ‘shanty town’ that existed before, so remaking the city from the bits of the old (that weren’t burnt or blasted to bits) would be the equivalent of tearing down a porta-cabin…and replacing it with a shed.

As far as i can remember, having been a while since i used texmod, you could only change the texture applied to particular models NOT the models themselves, so a spider would still look spider-like – just localised (to your game client only) with an altered spider skin.
That aside, texmod doesn’t appear to work with GW2.

The idea’s pretty simple – having the ability to lock your current wardrobe style as an outfit…so you can equip other armours and still keep the ‘look’ that you like.
This would benefit lower level players immensely, as they’re constantly changing their armour as they level, and continually using charges could work out pretty expensive.
The new locked style could be unlocked – for costume tweaking – meaning you’d still need to acquire transmutation charges if you wanted to change things around.
I’ve seen this working in another game (DCUO) and reckon it would compliment GW2’s wardrobe system just as well.

Wouldn’t it be better if they just removed the ‘zero chance of anything’ from the equation?
It would certainly be a huge step to reducing the monotony of farming as you’d at least get a guaranteed ‘something’ for your efforts.

It appears that they were intended to be in the game because the back-slot icon on the character menu is a cloak.

Not really…the icon just depicts a typical back item – it doesn’t necessarily mean there are cloaks in the pipeline.

I don’t know about the whole ‘sellout’ take on this but Anet is a business – they’re in it for the money.
It’s not a great stretch of the imagination to think that they don’t realise there’s money to be made in some kind of mount system – so why are they ‘cutting their own throats’, so to speak?
Could it be that they have never seen a place for mounts in the GW universe?
If that’s the case then no amount of ‘gimme the pretty horsie’ posts is ever going to sway them from their grand design…and it’s a shame that more people don’t cop themselves onto this – it’d certainly stop the boards from filling up with these threads every couple of days.

People were up in arms about this suggestion a while back – seems they’d get confused at a, previously light armour wearing, mesmer wearing heavy armour.
Personally, i don’t see what all the fuss is about.
If you honestly can’t tell what class a player is, from the skills they use, and are solely relying on looks alone…well, there are no words really.

Perhaps Anet should consider putting a sticker on the box…

Sounds more like you just want to be ‘king of the heap’ in low level areas rather than ‘helping’ anyone, besides, most players don’t want you to hold their hand – they’d rather figure things out for themselves…then move on.

It’s going to happen whether you agree with it or not.

I don’t know why your account name (Vitus Dance.4509) can’t be used like a ‘hidden’ surname – which would only show up when, say, mailing.
That way you could have any name you’d like…even if it was already taken as your surname would be specific to your account only.
