I agree. The reporting tools in this game suck donkey. You have zero opportunity to add a comment, like “hey, this bot is teleporting around and is obviously grossly abusing the game such that a 2 year old can see something is wrong, so why can’t you people DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?!”
You also can’t just report something – only via right click on a portrait or email. It’s like they DON’T want stuff reported.
It’s also difficult to report the bots that camp resource nodes since they just log in, tap, logout, and if you’re not able to report them within 5 seconds they’re gone.
One of my biggest disappointments with this game is just how badly both players and 3rd parties have been able to abuse the heck out of the game. ANet aren’t rookies and overlooking and/or failing to anticipate this stuff is very negligent.
Its to Anet’s advantage to ban them. Free $60. They’ll get to it eventually.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that a lot of players do not take steps to secure their computers or accounts, many bots are just hacked characters tasked to botting.
Warrior.
Fun to play. Excellent dps and survivability.
Lots of excellent weapons (weapon skill sets).
Excellent spread and selection of slot skills – too many to choose from.
Excellent trait line bonuses and selection of chooseable bonuses.
Excellent non-racial elites.
I’ve tried every class to some extent and find many of them are somewhat lacking for slot skills and/or traits and/or weapon sets. Or have wacko design (my main is an ele and I hate most of the fixed trait perks and elites, for ex).
Warrior feels well thought out and complete. I wish every profession was as fully loaded and complete feeling as the warrior.
Everyone I know who tries a warrior after playing other professions is floored by how much stronger it feels.
They didn’t shut down GW1 did they? So just play that… Why do people feel the need to post stuff like this?
I no longer keep map chat active. It insults my brain to endure the nonstop idiocy that occurs in most zones. Lion’s Arch is intolerable.
It’s unfortunate because I like to answer decent questions for people and like to report idiots.
IMO, this game needs something like the chat limits En Masse put in Tera, where they specifically said they don’t want to duplicate barrens chat. I know I don’t want to endure barrens/trade chat in other games no more than I wanted to suffer thru it in WoW. Basically they just put a timer in so that people couldn’t spam or yap incessantly.
I’m an experienced MMORPG player and I’m having fun. To me, if something isn’t fun, I just don’t do it. I don’t feel the need to write a thesis about it.
I do have concerns about longevity because I don’t think the dungeons or what exists of endgame content is all that compelling, and it was WAY too fast and easy to get to 80 and to gear up.
I expected more out of Orr (like I didn’t expect 2/3 of the zones to be for cheesey super fast leveling). I thought the dungeons would be bit more interesting and maybe, just maybe, have some loot in them that isn’t garbage.
This was my least favorite jumping puzzle but I like them all so it’s just picking the worst of a lot of really good content.
I almost never get anything worth a crap out of chests…be it from puzzles or the beefiest of champs. Most of the time I get blues out of chests and that’s like saying, here, have a few coppers, since that garbage is going directly to vendor.
So, I wouldn’t get all that excited about losing out on chest trash.
I couldn’t read that wall of text. More paragraph breaks. It doesn’t matter what you’re saying though since I would disagree 100%.
The “questing” leveling/xp system in GW2 is the best I’ve ever played. It’s so vastly superior to the refined quest hub system that exists in formula MMORPGs that there’s no contest.
Hub questing beats camp and grind from ancient times but that’s about it. It’s an incredibly boring and blatantly repetitive grind…it’s just a quest grind instead of a camp and grind.
I have mixed feelings about it.
It galls me that there’s only one truly level 80 map in the game, Cursed Shore.
When first arriving in Orr, you will not be prepared for what you face. Enemy placement in Orr is far more dense than anywhere else in the game, and they hit a lot harder, especially underwater.
While you may be fighting numerous different types of Risen, they are all Risen, and you’ll not have much luck getting your daily kill variety in Orrian areas.
Travel costs while travelling in Orr are extortionate, but there are already numerous threads about waypoint costs at 80.
Lots of outposts are continually contested, making travel even harder.
However, now I’m going back there to kill things and harvest, not complete the map, even with the dull, depressing atmosphere, I enjoy tooling around there. As you gradually build up your exotic gear, things become easier, even fun.
But we could really, really use another dedicated level 80 area.
And ArenaNet REALLY need to fix the scripting for the various broken skill points and dynamic events.
I agree with this. The swarms of highly aggro undead that repop instantly are annoying but fit the feel of the zone. It is a bit less annoying once you gear up, and gearing up is comically fast and easy in this game (leveling up is even more comically fast and easy).
I would also agree that we need a LOT more purely lvl 80 content. I was shocked when I found out that 2 of the orr zones were 70-75 and 75-80. I figured all 3 would be 80.
My main problem with all of the zones is the events. They don’t often scale that well (the whole zerg thing in Devastation is a joke – rolling so-called champs that don’t even knock 1 person into downed state is just dumb). They aften aren’t all that interesting to do. I’m not quite sure what I want or expect, but when the whole zone is centered around events, it just doesn’t seem to work.
For ex, I like when servers bounce and you have to storm arah. I never see that event unless servers bounce (12am is not the most convenient time for one of the better event chains). There should be way more events like that, that are multi-stage, epic in scale.
When they first discussed arah/orr they said the whole zone centered on a massive fight to unlock the dungeon with huge event chains and that’s really not the case. The arah storming is a sliver of the zone and almost never occurs.
Other more interesting events (grenth, for ex) are such a pain in the butt to get to due to the swarms of meaningless trash, contested waypoints, and/or waypoint costs, that hardly anybody ever does them.
The only thing that seems to go on in cursed is the endless cheese of shard farming and people running gathering circuits. I keep map chat off due to the fact that most people attempting to communicate in it are morons and/or I’m sick of seeing garbage like "shard farming, " which is basically people shortcutting/cheesing the system anyways.
Some of these abilities are brutal.
If the game was comically easy, like most MMORPGs, it would be boring, like most MMORPGs have become. Ez-mode is out there if you want it, and will be updated here soon.
The marginal sense of danger and potential to deal with these kinds of things effectively are one of the things that makes the game interesting.
It is basically free. You kill some mobs and/or otherwise play the game, get some coin, buy the respec. Done.
Why do people cry about playing the game? /boggle
I don’t feel pressure.
1g isn’t that much. If you’re that strapped for coin and coin means that much to you, play more…get more loot, sell more garbage, done. Coin isn’t really an issue if you actually play, and luxury items aren’t NEEDED – if they’re wanted, take steps to acquire them, don’t cry about them.
Why endgame PVE feels like a boring standstill (and what can be done to fix it)
Posted by: Voqar.2349
I’m not finding the endgame all that amazing.
The dungeons aren’t nearly as interesting as I expected them to be.
The endgame zones are wall to wall highly aggro trash that respawns every 20 seconds with not nearly enough challenging or interesting events going on.
I’ll be in all exotics (only missing off hand and water weapon) without exerting much effort at all.
Leveling and gearing up are way to fast and easy in addition to endgame content being boring compared to leveling content.
Finally decide to do some WvW for the first time since launch…and get booted when I finally get thru the queue. Good times!
I would imagine that SOME of the botting scum use sophistication, but I mean, kittypoo, most of the bots I see are so utterly blatantly obvious that a child should be able to notice them.
So how is it that you, ArenaNet, are not doing something about them, even when theyr’e reported to DEATH. You tell us to report, we report, nothing changes.
Here’s an example.
I often blast thru the skale under the bridge near shaemor village – great place to do weapon skilling and get blood on alts. Or used to be. I think y’all crushed the drop rate of blood there since you’re incapable of really dealing with problems and screw real players instead. But I digress.
I was there a few days ago passing thru on one alt, I saw a character with a distinctive name with erratic behavior.
I’m passing thru there now, I see the exact same character. I have an incredible memory and would not fail to notice such a distinctive name. Today the character is killing skales and seemingly teleporting around the map. Every few seconds he moves 20 yards, like he’s blinking every few seconds.
I have friends with horrific connections (living in the boonies) and crap latency and disconnects and none of them ever appear to be popping around like this, so it’s not a latency/lag issue. I have no clue what it is, but it probably has something to do with..
..this character being a blatantly obvious bot.
BTW – I’m sure some people fall asleep while playing and manage to die/rez enough to get naked, but most of the naked toons you see, especially those without guild tags in a game where it’s almost unheard of to be guildless, are usually bots. I’ve taken to reporting ALL naked toons I see on general principal.
Not that it helps, since NOTHING….NOTHING is being done about even the most blatant of botting.
I’m against a lot of the stuff PLAYERS are abusing – the exploits, the zerg groups, the dungeon farming, etc, but, IMO, none of that is nearly as severe as stuff like botting by pros or players.
I don’t get the priorities here. You seem to go out of your way to put the smack down on players but totally ignore the gold spammers and botters when it’s comically easy to detect (um, they’re spamming chat with gold sales) spammers and almost as comically easy to identify bots (takes maybe 20 seconds of observation by anyone with a functional brain.)
I agree with the dungeon changes and any changes that fix EASY ways to gain. The whole shard run instance shortcutting thing is cheese. Nobody needs armor skins or legendaries – they should be earned, and not in the first week the game is out.
But, screwing over people who are actually spending TIME playing is lame. There’s a difference between trying to screw over and shortcut the game and actually playing the game. A person out gathering or slaughtering mobs to try to get mats isn’t shortcutting anything. People running events in zones that ONLY HAVE EVENTS … how can they be shortcutting?
Plus, there are bots everywhere that aren’t getting dealt with, so adding lame ways to deal with some types of bots that screw over players isn’t a great solution.
It seems really whacked to reduce rewards in the orr zones for people repeating events. Events are the only thing going on in those zones. This is the dumbest thing I’ve heard of.
I do think the whole zerg thing is cheesey and lame but reducing the rewards isn’t the answer, properly scaling encounters so that zergs can’t obliterate champs in 30 seconds without anyone getting downed is the answer. Make those champs something more than tank and spanks. The reason people do a circuit of 5 events is because they’re stupid easy.
Crafting in this game can take stupid amounts of blue poo (as I call it, the rare stuff) and if players want to obtain that stuff themselves they shouldn’t be punished for spending time doing that.
There’s a difference between a player doing that type of farming manually, actually playing the game, for a few hours here and there, and a bot that’s doing it 24/7 for days on end via scripting. Surely you have data logs and metrics whereby bot behavior is insanely obvious. I’m sure I could write code that could isolate bots based on data and behavior. No players go login every x minutes (when nodes repop) 24/7 every day. No players stay logged in at the same spot 24/7 killing the same mob nonstop. C’mon.
You expect players to try to take the easy way out of everything. I expect ANet to put a little more effort into bot control and handling the economy without sucking ALL fun out of the game.
I run around cursed shore chasing events and/or randomly slaughtering mobs and/or gathering stuff.
Without fail, I inevitably see bots harvesting nodes. I see naked toons login on a node, tap it, log out, and then another, and another. You can sit and watch several pop in and out on top of nodes.
Pretty sure I’ve seen players doing this too since anybody can cheat with a script when not actively playing, and ANet is doing nothing to this type of behavior, but I digress.
But what’s truly amazing is, I’ve seen bots doing this right next to mobs and not aggro.
For ex, last night the risen vet spider event was up and the spider wasn’t engaged. There was a berry node literally 6 ft from it. I’m watching the spider and about to engage, and I see several bots pop in, harvest the berry, pop out, and the spider never moved.
Earlier that night, I was cruising the ocean looking for ori and found a rich mithril node – it’s a particular spot that’s always guarded by a veteran and 2 regulars. I can clear it, so I head to it, and see there’s a broken bot just sitting there on the node. Literally 3 ft from the mobs. And they aren’t attacking it. I watch for a while, I aggro the mobs, they engage the bot, and I think it logged then because I never saw it downed/dead on the map.
Side note, in both cases these are bot toons I’ve seen all over the map as the servers reset. Same names. Reported repeatedly. For days. Zero action taken. Blatant bot behaviors.
So, mobs in orr are generally so aggro that you can barely move without fighting. I’m pretty sure if I log in on top of a mob I’ll finally load in to a battle.
So how do bots manage to log in right on top of mobs, tap nodes, and log out, without even causing aggro?
In the past I’ve seen them log in, take hits while harvesting (which is utterly stupid design), and log out (shouldn’t be able to log out in combat but they do, more stupid design).
But now I’m seeing bots log in/out without even aggroing.
How is this happening?
Moreso, I know I’m not the only one who reports these bots. Why is nothing being done about them? You shouldn’t even need player reports to catch this kind of systematic botting – the data trail should be blatantly obvious. I’m a programmer and deal with data every day. I KNOW this kind of crap can be detected and dealt with.
I’ve seen this type of behavior too.
There are a couple of bots working the bats in the orchards of gendaran and it looks like they teleport around.
I’ve leveled two alts to 30, both passing by that area to do the heart there, and/or to pass thru while actually playing (shocking concept apparently) and I’ve seen the same bots there every time over several days.
It’s annoying to report these blatantly obvious bots and see nothing is ever done about them.
ANet isn’t banning blatant bots that get reported repeatedly, they surely aren’t going to ban legit players just for killing mobs.
The point of all the crying is that most people playing this game are full of it.
They say they want challenge and to earn stuff, but they really don’t. They want everything now, instant gratification or something close to it.
They want to get tokens as fast as possible for as little effort as possible, IE, ez-mode.
The crying is about reducing the ability to quickly farm instances for either easy money or easy tokens, thus requiring the earning of gear/skins instead of the ability to pound it out in a few hours of cheesey farming.
The crying is about not being able to get everything in a tiny amount of time.
And like I said, people are full of it. When this game was in development it was all about “I want challenges, not ez-mode” and now that the game is out all you see is “LFG for shard farming” (ie, give me my stuff now as fast and easy as possible).
“So you want to exert minimal effort for extreme rewards? Sorry. GW2 is not for you.
Dungeon gear was not meant to be gained easily. Please return to a game that allows instant gratification and stop trying to petition for GW2 to become another WoW/Tera/Aeon.”
What are you talking abut? Wanting people to run complete dungeons isn’t asking for easy mode.
The cheeseballs doing farming runs and only doing 2 bosses to in a few minutes to maxmimize tokens are the ones shortcutting the game and doing easy mode.
Why don’t you ask Anet to reduce the ridiculous cost of items so the only way to get a set from Arah isn’t to farm for 5 hours a day doing speed runs for 2 weeks straight or without speed runs, for 12 hours a day for 6 months straight?
This is supposed to be a casual friendly game where people with jobs, families, and normal lives can have a good time but as of right now it’s looking like just as much, if not more, of a grind fest than every other MMO on the market.
So you’re saying the ONLY way you can have a good time is by having the skins from Arah. BS. They are a luxury item that nobody NEEDs, and they’re supposed to be earned, not cheesed.
This is players leveraging cheese to try to get something faster than intended and to me, it’s a broken thing that should be fixed. There is no defense for cheese.
What’s going to happen is that it will get fixed and all the players that abused it will have sets of gear to brag about while most players will have to earn it if they want it.
It is comical to see player reactions to fixes in the game. Oh me, oh my, I’ve been nerfed, they’ve ruined my fun…because abusing broken game to get ahead easily is FUN.
What in the world are you talking about?
Farming the bejesus out of dungeons isn’t “learning” them or getting exposed to them.
(I can only guess this is a horribly worded cry about dungeon changes to make them less farmable)
Disagree.
Farming anything is lame, so discouraging farming dungeons, especially for easy wealth (which is one reason they made changes), is lame.
There are also ways players are cheesing dungeons to get other stuff easily and/or using shortcuts and stuff, and are crying as those get cleaned up.
CM was a stupidly fast and easy loot pinata compared to other dungeons.
For the love of all that is good in the land, plz shut up vendors!

Agreed.
Love the lively feel of towns, but when you stand in one place for a while the frequent repetition is brutal.
I was gonna say, just hit a few other starter areas and gather as you go. It’s better than purely farming since you wanna do zone completions anyways. More xp, karma, and loot to fuel your early endeavors on top of all the mats you gather.
This needs to be addressed(Mystic forge and Legendary Pre-cursors)

Yes another fun ruining nerf. First dungeons now this. I was collecting mats for 400 weaponsmithing and a lot of rare lvl 80 greatswords, but shortly before I start with it, I hear of this horrible nerf.
Are you insane? Fun ruining nerf?
Nobody should be making tons of gold doing nothing.
Not only should this be fixed but people who exploited it should get banned just like the karma exploiters got banned. No difference between them to me.
People need to wake up and realize that shortcutting the game or otherwise gaining from huge exploits has to be fixed or the game suffers. Cry me a river that you can’t get all exotic gear in a few hours.
This is why I said just go ahead and ban or at least investigate anyone that had the commander title early on, because there was no way anyone could have 100g in the first week without leveraging something that was broken.
Overall, I have to say, that I’m tremendously disappointed with how many ways there have been to exploit or otherwise cheat at this game so far.
I bust my tail to play and make a tiny bit of gold, and really get sick of seeing people essentially cheat and exploit to get piles of gold, and to often get away with it.
This game felt really solid in the BWEs and such, but we never got to test a lot of this, and a lot of this never would’ve come up in 3 day burst testing anyways. The number of gross flaws in this game are actuall pretty appalling and screw over the average player.
What’s incredibly irritating to me is that a lot of players who rushed to 80 and leveraged a lot of the cheese knowledge have profited a ton off of it. They got exotics incredibly fast, got black dye, piled up gold, got all the expensive stuff they wanted. The don’t get punished for it at all. The game gets changed/balanced, and everyone else has to work for what those types of players got for nothing.
THAT is something that sucks, not babies having their candy taken away and crying nerf.
Fun ruining to ME is knowing that I play by the rules and have to see a bunch of cheaters enjoying tons of perks with nothing being done about it.

Got dropped, bro got dropped at the same time. Can’t get back in. Per twitter, because god forbid they update THIS site, the maint isn’t done. :/
Is it REALLY asking too much for the official site to be the official source for info?
Finished final arah story quest with 2 guildies.
We were underwhelmed by the lameness of the instance, especially the zhaitan 1 button fight, the crap loot in the goodie bag (lvl 20-26 green + 4 mid level vendor blues) was a comically horrific ending to 80 levels worth of story questing, and all of us THOUGHT we got a book that gave the guild 1000 influence.
We all used the book, but our guild didn’t gain influence and there’s nothing in the log. The other book for 500 we got earlier in the storyline worked fine for all (and showed up in the log).
So, either all 3 of us misread what the book was (possible since that ending was so unsettling that my mind was truly boggled), or as with the rest of the final sequence, it’s just more utter suck and a waste of a double click.
PS – Seriously, the Zhaitan fight has to be one of the lamest things I’ve seen in MMORPGs playing them since EQLive at release. You work for 80 levels in a supposedly “player skill based” game to develop a character, then you beat the main boss of the entire game using 1 button in a turret that can’t even be aimed worth akitten There was some weak fighting over the course of the last “battle” but way too much lame turret crap. I play MMORPGs to develop and play a character, not to control turrets or vehicles.
I guess a 1 button fight against a mob that doesn’t fight back ensures that even the dumbest and most pitiful of players can finish their story quest (no idea how they’d get that far in the story if they were that bad though) but it kind of goes against the idea of challenging content by about 100%.
Anyways.
It’s not like we expected loot we could actually use or that didn’t suck in SOME way since the RNG on rewards is generally mediocre – it’s rare to get anything useful and selling crap to vendors gets old. But, we thought, hey, at least we got some influence books. Or not.
As a side note, you should always get 1 ecto min when you break an exotic, like the level 70 garbage you get when you’re level 80 and do zone completion in SoD.
I thought the same but it turned out that I was in lion’s arch and for whatever reason the guild panel was WAY off reporting info, along with not allowing me (the GM) guild stash access.
I’d queued up arch 3 then it just wasn’t in the queue anymore, was on the availalbe list, and our 5000 influence was gone and in the log – but no project.
I put a post in here, changed zones, and doh, there’s my project still in progress.
Yours could be a different issue but the real bug, IMO, is that guilds are about as unstable as a bipolar chick on meth as far as data and features go.
Whether you look into it or not doesn’t do squat for those of us who got the insult box.
I got 1 lvl 26 green and 4 crap blues (all blues are crap, so that’s redundant).
I did the quest with guildies with 3 of us being on the quest. We also got influence books that we all used and NONE of those have appeared in the guild log or upped our influence total. Changed zones and waited a day since the guild screen is sometimes WAY off for reporting…everything.
I’m all for hard dungeons, the problem I see so far is that the difficulty is wildly inconsistent between instances and trash is often harder than bosses since multiples of hit like a truck trash are brutal vs one boss with easily avoided mechanics.
same, stuck on loading screen for cursed shore, maguuma
Just finished and I have to agree, that was terrible. 80 levels of working on being “skilled” so you can beat Zhaitan with a 1 button cannon that can’t even be aimed.
Then, you get a loot bag with a level 26 green and 4 utterly useless blues? LMFAO. So pathetic it’s hard to describe. Oh yes…those WvW blueprints are a heck of a reward for capping your pve personal story. Letter for influence is ok but still…we already got one of those ages ago in the line so that’s nothing special.
I really want to write the biggest rant I’ve ever written over this pitiful joke but my mind is so blown by how much of a letdown this is, that I can’t even be bothered.
Really, really lame ANet. Really lame.
I enjoyed most of the personal story but once you get to Orr everything goes downhill, capped by being forced to do a 5 man instance that utterly sucks.
I guess that instance had to be so weak so that everyone could finish their story? Oy.
Very disappointed.
Love the game but hated this as much as I love everything else.
4-manned with 3 friends and one hasn’t finished the last step before Arah, so now we have to do it again, which is a dreadful thought. I can’t believe people farm this instance…that is an utterly horrible thought.
Still glitched on maguuma, as was the one in straights. Only got that one due to someone bringing a guardian.
Can’t finished zone completion on cursed shore due to this…very annoying…fix it already.
I’m not doing server transfers to try to do a skill point challenge – that’s ridiculous.
Thank you, ArenaNet. I appreciate your sensible approach to this. I visit forums like this for information, not fan art, and in fact, I always disable viewing avatar images and signature images since they’re generally obnoxious and useless.
Why is it that in orr zones, like cursed coast, that you sometimes find two metal nodes right next to each other, unguarded by mobs, and/or there are so many static nodes (never move, timer seems regular)?
It kind of makes me want to vomit when I go to tap on of those types of nodes and see either a naked toon materialize, gather, then disappear or worse, while I’m tapping those 2 stupidly placed and timed metal nodes, I see a procession of characters log in/out at that spot to mine the nodes.
Here’s a hint for ya, ANet. If a toon is naked in a lvl 70+ zone, they are either someone who fell asleep while playing and died repeatedly after being rezzed repeatedly, or it’s a bot. Either way, something is not right, and that toon should get a free teleport to a safe location well away from mobs AND gathering nodes. Like somewhere out in the middle of the ocean.
It’s pathetic design to setup valuable crafting nodes in such a way that they can easily be botted or exploited. Dealing with bots is problem enough, but when you create content that all but caters to them, you’re just begging for bots to be an issue.
Whether it’s bots or players exploiting the crappy setup, you should do something about this.
Two things are odd to me about this.
For one, in lower level zones, nodes don’t always spawn at the same locs or on the same timers, there’s some element of random to it that would make this type of botting/camping inefficient.
For two, the orr zones are ridiculously thick with highly aggro mobs that repop nearly instantly…except for at some of these gathering locs. When you have to slay 20 risen to move 40 yards most of the time, why make the valuable nodes free and clear?
Now, I realize you ANet folks have been busy but let’s be real. It’s very easy to identify bot types. Look at the data. Character never leaves zone. Character is active 24/7 every X minutes. Character has gathered 5 million mithril but amazingly only has 10 in the bank. Account has mailed piles of gold to cheaters. Delete acct. Done.
Will there ever be any compensation for those of us who got bit by the guild creator/leader issue early, where we couldn’t represent, or see guild, and were basically orphaned? All that influence down the drain? No biggie for huge guilds but my guild is 10-15 friends and losing out influence sucks.
Had to edit…my architecture 3 didn’t show on my character in Lion’s Arch, but on an alt in a different zone it IS actually queued and running. Sigh. The character in LA also couldn’t access the guild bank there. For whatever reason, certain zones affect guild which is really odd.
(edited by Voqar.2349)
Several members have intermittent guild stash access issues – seems to occur most with specific zones – like they can’t access from grove or lion’s arch but can access from other cities when this happens.
Remap strafe to A/D. I bind turn to shift + A/D but rarely use them.
1-5 = weapons, Q, E, R = slots, T = elite, G = heal. (shift + G remapped for guild, V remapped for take target, middle mouse used for dodging, double tap to dodge disabled.)
Scoreboard remapped to shift + B, B added for inventory, X added for map, C added for hero/char – I want all common stuff setup for left hand.
Stuff like that.
Gathering tools and salvage kits? Rarely for gear. The prices for gear are stupidly high to the point that it’s hard to justify the purchases.
I suppose save up for cool skins but the prices still seem stupidly high and would turn the game into a grind. I’m all for earning stuff and of course it should take time to get the cool stuff, but how to make that happen without it being a grind?
Zerging events in Orr for karma is not only a grind but it’s ungodly boring.
I agree, especially if you’re human since I don’t like the human elites either.
It’s ridiculous to have to endure 2-4 spammers per zone going at it nonstop.
1. Give us a report feature that also puts the spammers on ignore for 24 hours without us having to take the 2nd action AND clutter our block list.
2. Perma ban all gold buying cheaters and post numbers on the launcher daily so people understand that cheating = gone. The only way to truly stop gold spam and sales is to kill demand. You kill demand by making it clear that cheating isn’t tolerated. No sub = no reason to allow players to cheat. As long as there is demand, there will be sellers.
For the mentally challenged out there, you can’t buy gold from ArenaNet.
You can buy gems and sell them to other players such that gold doesn’t magically enter the market, it just changes hands between players. That’s considerably different than buying gold directly for cash from 3rd parties that aren’t players who obtain gold by hacking and stripping accounts and/or bot farming.
The currency exchange is a nice tweak to player economy – it gives players something else to dink with on the market. Gold for cash 3rd party sales not only facilitate cheating but undermine the built-in currency market as well.
3. Deal with spammers quicker. Why are spammers not getting zapped immediately when it takes all of 2 seconds to see review their spam and see they are gold sellers?
4. Force a password reset for everyone and force the use of strong passwords. On the password reset page make it clear that hacked accounts are almost always the player’s fault for poor internet habits and that a strong unique password makes you infinitely less likely to get hacked. Also make it clear that hacked accounts aren’t just stripped of everything you’ve earned, but are also used to advertise gold sales.
5. Look into how addons for WoW, other games, or even how other companies do a better job of filtering out gold spam in chat, because whatever you’re doing now (nothing?) isn’t working at all.
6. Do more to deal with bots. I surely don’t know all the spots that bots hang out but the most blatantly obvious one is the bridge in kessex. No clue why. No clue why the spot hasn’t been changed. No clue why the bot convention there continues to go on, and on, and on.
The current situation is utterly ridiculous and worse than I’ve seen in any MMORPG since EQLive.

The prices are high but they’re reasonable.
It should take some effort to have the very best bags, it shouldn’t be a given.
Nobody needs 20 slot bags (or even 18) – they’re luxuries. Luxuries are expensive.
I’m doing jumping puzzles in noob zones with 2 friends. 2 of us are 70+, one is 69. We 70’s are getting all crap loot – low level 5 stuff. The 69 is getting stuff closer to his level, with rares and good gems.
We just like doing the puzzles, so the loot is gravy, but if there’s going to be loot, it should be fair for all, not screwing higher level players.
