Black Lion Chest Odds of Getting a Rare Skin

That’s 2% for a skin, any skin? Most of them are the shoulder pads, which are pretty cheap on the broker.. What’s the chance of getting a weapon skin? Or a specific weapon skin? Looks like 0.3% or so?

FOV (Field of View) Changes Beta Test - Feedback Thread

This is a great start, now finish the job!

- point the camera at the HEAD instead of the center of the back
(so we’re not staring at the ground when zoomed out, and our backs when zoomed in)

- allow people to zoom to first person.
(so we can enjoy the game without breaking the eula)

Would love to see these two changes, also.

As for the FOV fix, I like it, but it’s pretty subtle. I wasn’t one of those people who got headaches or anything, though. I just like being able to see more of the gameworld (In terms of immersion, not strategically)

I love the way everyone is bumped up to 80 in the labyrinth. It’s too bad they can’t make all event content like that.

Or hey, how about making the whole game like that? You level up to add skills and traits, maybe even leave equipment gated, so as you get higher level, you get better equipment.. but get rid of the raw to-hit modifiers, naked armor class, the health modifiers, all the stuff that just makes higher level content flatout impossible.

Ohhh ok. So you people are whining that you want things for cheaper. I could have sworn this was a thread about not being able to use RMT to buy in game things. Oh wait, it is.

Yeah, I think there’s an assumption here that if they did sell them outright, they wouldn’t be trying to charge $40-50 apiece for them. More like $10 or so?

edit: bit silly calling it a free market, when anet has total control over it. It’s just simulated to seem free, but anet already does set the price. They’re just doing it with random percentages, instead of setting it outright, and that is the problem. If you take those percentages into account, you realize they are severely overcharging, hiding that behind terrible drop rates and such. That’s what makes it feel like a scam.

Vzur- I recommend you go to my Halloween Act 1 thread and read about the PToT locations. That’s 85 PToTs a day you could be opening to increase your amount of nougat centers. =)

I’ve gotten a lot of them, maybe upwards of that many. Even bought a few on the TP. What’s the drop rate on specific ingredients like that? Seems to be about 10-20% for one of them, but if you need a specific one, that’s what, 20% of 20%? So, 4%? 85*0.04=3-4 nougats per 85 bags? Am I calculating this wrong, or is that about 2000 bags for 100 nougats?

That’s exactly what I’d like to ask the devs. The way people are reacting is entirely because of the way this event has been developed. People are playing as the devs seem to be encouraging them to play..

You create reward system, you have to expect people to attempt to do what’s required for said reward.. don’t be surprised when they aren’t simply enjoying it, if what’s required is excessive.

Prices depend ENTIRELY on what ANet does for the rest of the event. They could easily drive the price up or down, depending on whether they add more ways to get it, or more alternatives to it. Makes speculation kinda pointless. It’s all just guessing, and could go either way, unless a dev comes here and gives us a clue

Me, I can’t bothered hunting down more than the first few I found, so I don’t feel screwed, personally. I can just understand others feeling cheated, if they’re trying to collect as much of this stuff as they can, but find out the amount they can get has been cut in half. Not only that, but the ones in Lions Arch were probably a lot easier to get.

It’s basically a world nerf, and that frustrates players, especially when its not even for balance, but because the devs made a mistake.

My issue with the temporary weapons is that there appears to be no stats on them which makes them useless in combat…I guess they work if you want them while in town?

I bought a temporary staff, it seems to scale with level.

My problem with is just that it isn’t much fun, not being able to keep it. Almost completely pointless, so not really much consolation.

Its silly to blame other players. According to that video, all they had to do was log out and log back in. Many people were probably doing it, without even realizing it was an issue. Just logging out, coming back later, not realizing it wasn’t supposed to work that way. That’s not an exploit, just an oversight by the devs, and they overreact by punishing everyone.

This does seem to be a trend with them. I wonder, do they intend to punish the playerbase, or is that just the only way they know how to fix problems, and they just don’t care if honest players are screwed by it? Some people didn’t even know about the ToT locations, yet..

Its an event, who says you have to get something out of it. Imagine going on a concert IRL. You spend money, get wasted, you might even not like the music but you do something different than every other day and it passes and you get nothing material out of it except memories (or maybe not even those).

People like stuff, that’s why there’s so much of it in these games. People like collecting, memorabilia, and new customization options.

Making an event that’s just pure fun, like going to a concert, sounds great in theory.. but I don’t know if its very realistic. I think they’d actually have to work a lot harder to make an event that much fun, and it wouldn’t really be practical to put put that much game-changing resources into it, just for a weeks worth of temporary content.

Maybe they should do an event, where no one gets any items, though. Maybe I’m wrong. Focus entirely on costume brawls and trick-or-treat doors, but don’t give any rewards at all. How would that go?

I know. It’s not “I gotta have this awesome stuff, why did they make it so hard?!” It’s more like.. you want us to farm our kitten off for this? If the issue were that these items were worth all that effort, it would be worse in a way.. but it’s not. It makes even more of a case for asking why any of this is so rare or difficult, when its just impractical fun stuff that most people wouldn’t want to use past halloween, anyhow.

Some people really like cosmetic items, and playing with the look of their character.

I never understood the argument that cosmetic items don’t matter. If they didn’t matter, they wouldn’t be in the game at all. It’d just be a huge waste of development time and resources, making different looking armor, weapons, and all that.

This. A few rares might be cool, but in a holiday event, of course people will be angry, if they feel left out. Holiday events are usually more about everyone, not rare exclusive stuff. That seems just the opposite of holiday spirit.

It’s weird that they expected the time-limited items to serve this purpose.. I don’t know about anyone else, but the time limit makes it feel like no reward at all. Intermediate reward seems to be sorely lacking, here. As a holiday event, it shouldn’t be so exclusive, IMHO.

Arenanet has stated that since they do not require a sub fee, they are not bound to provide and endless amount of content. At some point, like all MMOs, you hit a wall and theres nothing to do. It will happen. Expect it.

I have actually read ArenaNet saying that they intend to provide more than a subscription MMO does.

So far for me personally they are living up to that since there is so much more content I am looking forward too after 500+ hours since headstart. And we are getting new content on October 22nd, a mere 2 months after launch.

Yeah, I don’t think ANet ever said they don’t need longevity. That’s just something some fans like to say. Funny thing is, some haters like to say it too.. but it’s just wrong, no matter how you spin it.

ANet wants their game to have longevity, as much as any other MMO dev does. It’s just good for the game, no matter what payment model it uses.

Welcome to the world of subjectivity and independent opinion.

Also, I’m assuming that by “Sexy” you really mean “Revealing”.
Medium armour being so would probably invalidate its status as armour, but I can assure you, there are medium sets out there that are ridiculously revealing.
Take the Order of Whispers set for example:
Click to reveal

Yep, nothing says sexy like wearing a burlap sack on your head.

On a more serious note, sure the top is ok, but what’s with the three layers of total coverage on the lower body? I’m not saying we need chainmail thongs, but that’s pretty excessive, for being an example of one of the sexiest most revealing medium armors in the game.

This horrible camera is, in my opinion, a good reason to leave Guild Wars 2 for good. The camera just ruins the game, why did Arena Net put all that work and effort into a super-awesome world if we can’t see it?

Maybe this is why they added vistas? :/

Really? So all we are suppose to do is stare at the floor while we play, then occasionally look up at the beautiful world that Arena Net put years into making?

Didn’t mean to suggest that I approved of the idea, but that does seem to me like what they were going for. They must have realized there’s so much scenery people wouldn’t see, while playing. And why don’t we see it? Because of the lousy camera angle and FOV.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Agreed. Map completions really take away from this game for me. I would think completing all the hearts should of been enough for map completion. The thought of doing all the vistas again and poi’s really discourage me from playing alts.
Not everyone wants to be an explorer, and even I who somewhat feels like I enjoy exploring don’t want to do that again. Kinda the downside of making 80% of the vistas a jumping puzzle of sorts.
Also, map completion should be cumulative among your various characters as well as dye’s imo.

I am an explorer, but after doing it once, it’s not really exploring, anymore… At the very least, yeah, I agree, map completion should be account-wide. Which would really be an xp penalty for alts, not an advantage, but I’d be fine with that.

The business model for this game suits itself very well to filling a niche. A devoted base of fans that like the game enough to spend money in the gem shop and buy expansions will keep the game successful.

The reasons that the average MMO players don’t like this game are the same reasons that I love this game and continue to spend money on it. The average MMO player already has games that cater to the lowest common denominator. Me and my gaming dollars are quite happy in this niche.

That makes sense, if that’s what they were going for. Guess I just thought they were “in it to win it this time” and all that.
