People have sunk thousands of gold into the mystic forge, but that’s apparently ok with you. If you’re so much for parental control and worrying about gambling habits, why are you not concerned about people throwing away their fortune at Zommorros?
Zommorros doesnt accept gold coins, you must be mistaken.

Mystic coins are gold right?
Their name indicates that they are mystic, not gold.

As for concerned parents. Really? If you have issues with lessons or methods of thought a form of entertainment is instilling in your child, stop allowing them to access that entertainment. That’s your responsibility as a parent, not Arenanet’s responsibility as a video game developer.
And that is where you are wrong concerning gambling. There are actually age limits and laws governing who can be exposed to gambling. Let me guess, you’ve not had children of your own yet?
There are also definitions of gambling, which dont apply here. If your kid starts gambling in real life, that on you as the parent.

Looks like you didnt read the entire post.
I specificaly mention that the mystic forge isnt used so much now that there is an alternative for precursors and is used as a secondary method.
Gambling in general is a trade for expectation for something better, when people are promised riches if they put 250globs or 50globs or 10 globs and gold in a vendor that “promises” riches, they go mental and sell everything just to play that particilar mechanic.
Works as intended imo, keeps the gambling addics hooked and creates new ones as well.Edit:Gambling habits and addictions carry over to real life behaviour, thats why i believe its important.
Really no concerned parents out there? Shame on you people. So bashing rabbits with a hammer or launching cows with a catapult doesnt carry over to real life but gambling does?
I just sprayed soda out of my nose. Thanks.
You even get rewarded (in gold) for launching cows, if you bet right where it lands.

You will need 250 of those tokens btw, to craft the new legendary shortbow, which will shoot farting cows.
I have a reliable source.

I am still awaiting for that recipe you promised us… last year. Where is it? I know you are have been busy with working on new content, and I am well aware that you are attempting to remove gold from those that got a lot.
Reality is however that you are ruining it for the average Joe. The flax prices will go down, the market will stabilize. However, the supply of Endless Batwing brew will go up up and upwards until you need a ladder to reach the top, simply to place a bid.
Adding the recipe you spoke of, will hurt the flippers and make a lot of people very very happy.
I fear you have taken a shower with gasoline and is now playing with a match. Please, stop playing with matches and do what you were supposed to do last year.
I am not mad at this point, just numb to see that you have mistaken goldsinks for hard work. I am just very very disappointed with you Anet.
Imagine there is a recipe live for 2 years and nobody found it yet…..
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Are any of these recipes ascended or only exotic?
There are also ascended recipes on the tp.
However, they dont include the stat name in their description but the name of the Person it was named after (like Zojja for asc berserker stats). For minstrel stats its would be Maklain for example.
Your best bet would be to search the tp for “recipe” and set rarity filter to ascended. It will be a long list but you should find which name is for which new stat.
Keep in mind that not every recipe for every armor piece of every new stat has been listed though. Just uncheck “only show available” to also the the ones that havent been listed and put in a buy order.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Viper, Minstrel, commander, trailblazer abd vigilant are being obtained via recipe books, for example Minstrel Armor recipe Book, which lets you choose which armor recipe you want. They are random drops or rewards for events in the new maps, i think.
They are all tradeable on the tp but not all recipes have been listed yet.
Wanderer I am not so sure about, there are none on the tp, might be that nobody listed one yet or that they are obtained from one of the new vendors from the new races, so they would be locked behind a mastery.

Flax is probably one of the most common nodes in maguuma, i dont know why people have problem with just harvesting it for flax seeds (30s) and fibre (10s).

I have seen some complaints about the hard access to guild halls and its upgrades for smaller guilds, especially 1 or 2 man guilds that cant really complete guild missions.
So i was wondering, if it would be a solution to make favor tradeable.
It was a quick idea, so I havent really thougth it through yet but wanted to get some initial feedback and pros and cons from the player base.
The idea came to me when i talked to the Resonance Broker and Technician in the guild hall, where you can pay silver to send out a request to other guilds but i dont really know what its for.
The easiest way would be of course, to make it tradeable on the tp for gold.
Another option I thought about was setting it up like the gem exchange, so it not only works as a gold sink but also as a favor sink (destroying 15% favor everytime gold is bought with it).
Any thoughts?

This item will still be craft-able AFTER Halloween, tattered bat wings are used for scribing so I’m sure it will still drop somewhere.
http://guildwarshub.com/tattered-bat-wings-to-craft-nightfury/
I am not saying that wont be available after Halloween ends but just because its used for a lvl 300 scribe recipe its also not certain that it WILL be available year round.
Scribes mostly craft decorations for the guild hall, so i would guess its used to craft some kind of halloween/bat themed deco.

So now that Marauder stats have been added,
where/how can I get Exotic Armor with this Stats?
You craft it like berserker or valkyrie gear.
You get the recipes from the master crafters for the insignias/inscriptions, then use discovery in the crafting panel to craft the gear.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
I’ve heard that Marauder gear can be obtained in HoT, and it’s a selectable option for the elite specialization weapon, but I can’t find recipes for Marauder armor. Is it obtainable, and if so, how?
Just talk to the master crafters at the crafting stations!
They sell the recipes for the inscriptions/insignias for karma, just like the other vanilla recipes.
Crusader stats are also available.
where did you find the crusader merchant?
The master craftsmen at the crafting stations, that sell crafting supplies and recipes.
Exotic recipes for marauder and crusader are listed individially, if you want to craft ascended gear, buy the generic recipe, both stats will be an option to choose, if you double click it.
I added a screenshot

I would expect a mild spurt of deflation from the change to dungeon rewards. This would occur slowly, as the change in the gold inputs has to work its way through trading post fees and grinding price shifts before it moves to gold supply. This is probably already happening.
This effect is certainly being drowned out by the upheaval of the expansion, the new goods that it introduced, and the big velocity effects that come with it (idle savings get tapped to buy new items from the expansion). At least in the short run this would drown out the deflationary effect of the dungeon gold nerf. We wouldn’t expect to see the deflation from that until this rush has passed.
What you’re seeing with the dip in legacy prices is people dumping those items to raise cash to buy new items, which is exactly what you would expect to see. Outside of shifts due to changes in production (stuff related to precursors with the new materials, armor crafting patches, etc), those should be transitory and those markets would be expected to recover after the rush.
I see a temporary spurt of deflation in game as healthy. Without capital markets, debt, or contracts, you don’t have any of the real stickiness problems of a real economy, and increasing the real value of gold rewards, and people’s savings, is probably a good thing.
While i agree with most of your post, i dont know really know what you mean by the highlighted paragraph.
If you mean Legendary Weapons, their prices have been pretty stable and you cant really see a significant price drop before or after HoT.Precursors went down a bit in the last weeks before launch but already recovered over the weekend. Today, the cheapest dusk on the tp was listed at 1500g, i sold one for 1300g today. And that is despite forging costs (mithril/elder wood/t5 fine mats or rare weapons) losing over 50% of value in the last few weeks.
I believe he’s referring to the things I was talking about- very rare items that can sell for upwards of 100 gold, like farming nodes, ascended recipes, etc. And if I’m right in thinking that that is what he’s referring to, than it makes sense.
farming nodes and asc recipes got new a rush of supply from opened chests after launch last week and the recipes got new faucets from the karma vendors. Their price didnt drop because there is less gold in the economy, its added supply.
While that may be true, you can also say the price fell even further due to people who have been holding onto these items selling in order to afford new shinies as well.
Most people knew before that they will need gold for new stuff in hot, so if they had expensive items, they would list it before hot releases, not wait until its live, risk the chance of new supply coming in and then sell to a buy order.
While some people certainly sold their shinies after HoT to raise funds, i dont see how this would be an indication of a crashing economy as a whole.
Most items go up and down in price over the period of a year, depending on supply and demand and seasonal changes to it.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
While i agree with most of your post, i dont know really know what you mean by the highlighted paragraph.
It’s akin to the velocity of other commodities. During normal times people hold on to ectos, T6, etc – and when the xpack hit, people are likely to sell down some of those reserves to buy other things (like buying into the flax boom). This introduces extra supply to the market and pushes prices down. This extra supply is due to an inventory reduction not due to differences in drops / production, so it is temporary.
Basically, ‘sell the old stuff the buy the new stuff’ is something you’d expect to happen in the short run, which makes prices on old stuff lower and prices on new stuff higher than it would be in the long run.
Precursors went down a bit in the last weeks before launch but already recovered over the weekend. Today, the cheapest dusk on the tp was listed at 1500g, i sold one for 1300g today. Precursor markets are insane right now. The rate of return on crafting rares to throw into the forge is pushing 100% right now – you are expected to nearly double your money from throwing rare swords, staves, greatswords, etc into the forge. All the players who usually provide that service are clearly preoccupied with new content because the returns are simply nuts.
Yeah, I was pretty confident that t5 mats would fall even more than what we seen in the last month before HoT, so in the last couple of weeks, i already crafted 20k mithril plated dowels on 2 acccounts, as well as greatsword hilts and blades and staff components. During the weekend, i was trading heavily on new items and actually played alot of content, but last night i started putting in buy orders for t5 fine mats, crafted greatswords and forged 3 dusk and 1 dawn. I was quite pleased with my personal prediction of crafting costs but i assumed that precursor prices would go down a couple of hundred gold, not back up again. As i got more dusks than dawns and was able to sell 2 of them for 1300g, i actually had an ROI of over 150%.
During last halloween and wintersday, i didnt prepare for mass forging, so it basically had me occupied the whole day for 1 or 2 pres, while i already got 4 today and probably will forge 2 more now. Not having to refine takes off alot of labour time.
But yeah, I also think its healthy for the economy, that prices tank sometimes, as it releases old gold from old buy orders, that most of the time, is from inactive accounts.
And those accounts get used as material dump for unwanted goods.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Can someone clarify something for me?
Will this ONLY be craftable during Halloween? Meaning, even if I have all the necessary items AFTER Halloween, I won’t be able to make it in the Mystic Forge?
I keep hearing people say that, but that sound ludicrous!
There is no indication that this is the case. The limited items are the tattered wings which will no longer be available as drops after Halloween ends. Everything else is still obtainable and the recipe should still work fine.
While from past experience, I would also assume that the tattered wings wont be available anymore, as the halloween dungeon closes, I dont think Anet ever confirmed that. I wouldnt be surprised, if they add it as a drop after it ends, just to stick it to investors.

If you take a closer at our economy, the only thing that effected the pricing of items in TP are items associated with upgrading guild halls. So the removal of liquid gold from dungeons did not effect the prices of high priced skins.
What you are viewing as a problem of removing gold from dungeons is merely people allocating their funds from shiny personal purchasing to contribution in purchasing items for the guild hall nothing more nothing less. You have a valid point on guild hall items price, but regarding high ticket items and even medium ones is that the amount of gold a person can make on a game session is a fraction of it was thefore it does impact said items. Actually impact all items which is good in many ways but bad for veterans who will loose a big chunck of their personal gains stuck in the tp.
We got our 4th or fifth upgrade done this morning in our guild hall and the only gold we had to pay was the 100g for the claiming expedition, i wouldnt call that a huge gold sink.
The mats used to upgrade to GH dont cost any gold to create (unless they are untradeable vendor items), they get created by investing time. The only gold sink for this is the 15% fees and taxes, if you decide to buy it from there rather than farming it yourself.
False.
How’d your guild get those runes of holding for 18 slot leather bags? Or the 200 small runes of holding that are required on one of the upgrades? You have to spend gold to get them, there is no other way. Elonian wine? There are definitely more material sinks to the upgrades than there are gold sinks, but the gold sinks are there, too.
Already mentioned.

I was talking about specific odd items that are not readily kept on hand in the guild bank, for instance the 18 Slot Thick Leather Pack used for the Mine which normal sells for 2g 50s spiked to 4g on Friday.
yeah the greater and superior runes of holding that are used to craft those bags and are also needed directly for later upgrades are the only direct gold sinks i could think about from items needed for GH upgrades

There is some variation there, but it is FAR from the liquid gold infusion we were promised to offset the balance of the decline of dungeon income.
That! But we know the why. Buy Gems and convert to gold.
You obviously dont know how the gem exchange works, so its pointless arguing with you.

Thats what we got the new legendaries (needs maguuma map completion) and the legendary backpack for (fractals).
yes, it´s a step in the right direction. However there is only three new legendary weapons so far.
And of course, if their precursor collections will follow the same pattern as those for old precursors, the silverwastes farming till you drop part will still be there.
I highly doubt that silverwastes is more lucrative than farming the jungle atm.
how?
In the jungle doing events I make roughly 50 silver/hour at most while Silverwastes gives atleast 8g+/hour now after they have nerfed the chests.
Maybe you should check the prices of the new mats, that you keep depositing in your material storage to clear out your inventory and sell them before you got a stack of them. Flax fibres and seeds sold for 20-30s over the weekend and there are nodes everywhere, upgrade components that you get from mining sell for 50s+ to a couple of gold. Events dont give too much loot or gold but if you have a gathering booster and decent magic find while killing lots of mobs, you can make loads of gold.
I sold freshwater pearls for over 8g and some account bound mats can be crafted into high demand and profitable items.
And the stuff from the containers you need keys for is also good.
Some new mats drop primarily in fractals, so if you do those, check prices before depositing mats

I haven’t read everything in this topic yet but I’m going to share my opinion on legendaries. They should be expensive they should be very bloody expensive. They should be extremely hard and long to get. That is what makes them legendary. Legendaries should have the wow factor. If I see someone with a legendary weapon I want to be amazed, I want to know that the player has spent a tonne of effort earning that weapon. No one should even be 1% of the journey to getting a legendary 5 days in. Are they really “legendary” if they can be produced without legendary amounts of effort?
Legendaries should be hard to aquire, but they should be gated behind hard content that requires skill.
As of now the only thing I assume when I see a player with legendaries is that he has no skill because he´s spending all his waking hours running in circles in the Silverwastes or used his mommys credit card.
Thats what we got the new legendaries (needs maguuma map completion) and the legendary backpack for (fractals).

I am pretty sure, you have to purchase an guild armorer upgrade in the guild hall and once the upgrade is completed, you can buy it from him with guild commendations.
But since guilds didnt produce enough aetherium yet in order t ounlock this upgrade, the npc isnt in game yet.

The reality is that ANet wants you buying gems and anyone that argues the gems come from people converting gold to gems is deluded because that would imply a limited amount of gems and I guarantee that if someone came along and wanted to spend an obscene amount of money on gems, they would be available. The conversion rate will only drop so far before people will start refusing to buy gems, so of course ANet will control this threshold to keep the sales flowing. There is an infinite amount of gems hence an infinite amount of potential gold in the economy. I know people who buy gems monthly, like a subscription fee. Conversely, I know very people people who willing convert gold to gems to buy something in the gem store. Certainly some people do it, but in no way as many people who buy gems.
In game vendors, coin loot drops such as dungeons and gold farms compound the problem because the gold comes out of thin air adding more gold to the economy and there simply aren’t enough sinks to control the amount of gold. So, in that vein, I think a contraction of the gold available in game will generally be good from most players, with the exception of those who have piles of gold tied up in the TP.
Nobody is arguing that gems are creating by converting gold to gems.
Gems get created only by real cash (or the occasional giveaway) and gold only gets created by players playing the game.
Gems can go 2 ways, the gem exchange or the gem store. Gems going into the gem exchange stay in the economy (minus 15% tax), gem going into the gemstore, will be destroyed.
Gold also only goes 2 ways, into a gold sink, like vendors, tp fees, wp costs, or into the gem exchange.
Buying gems doesnt greate gold, playing the game does.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
And that’s my point. Most rare things I’ve seen are crashing, most notably crafting materials.
The point some ppl in this thread seem to ignore is that dungeons were the absolute highest liquid gold generated in game. The sw farm excuse falls on its face since the farm does not generate gold only mats and items. So with less ways to get gold = lower prices on everything which is good but screws over ppl who earned their items for sale at the tp that will now cost them to relist and at a much lower price. My main gripe here is that, soon ppl who spend real money for gems to gold conversion, will have more gold than players who dont. That creates pay to win scenario which in gw2 would be pay to skin.
What you keep ignoring is that overall gold faucets havent been nerfed, they have been shifted to content that anet will focus its development ressources on in the future, for example fractals and raids.
They expect a higher percentage of the player base to participate in that content compared to the players that used to run dungeons.
So even though individual gold rewards for people that used to run dungeons might get nerfed, the overall gold supply will stay the same because many more players will earn more gold rewards from playing their favourite content.
Lol shifted? A dungeon tour yielded 50g a frac daily run is 5g your math is wrong bud.
Not if 10 more players run fractals for every player running dungeons in the past.
Look, John SMith made a Q&A on reddit after he put the blogpost about economical changes, where he explained this.

I am working on my airplane outfit.
You also make the airplane sounds, while gliding btw.

check your achievements and collections, some you might not have done or unlocked, which award old tyria mastery points

They’re definitely not a glitch. I’ve been asking for a visibility toggle for the foot slot for a while, but to no avail. I think people finally got tired of my pestering and created this item for me to equip on all my characters so that they can be barefoot like me. :-)

Yah, I’ve read that thread. Still, there isn’t any actual hint for it other than that it’s supposedly in game somewhere.
I just wanted to make a new thread to see if we could get a hint response. The other thread is bogged down with a lot of nobody knows and is already painted red (has a developer response).
I just thought it was worth a shot asking for a hint in a new thread.
making duplicate threads is not allowed.
And neither is impersonating a moderator. I can grasp at straws too.
If you have nothing constructive to add, should you really be posting?
where did i impersonate a moderator?

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

Ok i just wanted to know, straight up no more smoke and mirrors. No more arguments no more conjecture, please save me some time and sanity.
Will Elite Specs (to be clear to staw manners, ONLY elite specs, not asking for anything else but ELITE SPECS) Will elite specs be made more easily attainable in a PVE way? I dont care if its removing mastery grind from getting to hero points removing champ mobs, making , giving more points per challenge, nerfing the number of points needed to progress, changing the lines to the standard seperate trait and ability lines.
Is there ANY plan to implement ANY of this? Please, just let me know so i can either move on for good or just take a break and come back when its fixed.
Right now, I have no plans on changing anything on that matter or implementing any of your suggestions.
Good bye.

I’m having a hard time understanding how some of you guys made money off the mass economy change since the release of HoT. All I’ve seen is a major crash in all my items of value. Charged lodestones have dropped by almost a gold a piece (which I had been farming for a long time), my light of Dwayna recipe went from 150 gold to 110, and my lotus farming node went from 80 to 48 gold. All of my rare items are tanking HARD.
Charged lodestones got available through map rewards, the new karma vendors for pact supply management mastery sell limited recipes for karma, if you have the mastery and since hot launch, a huge amount of bl chests got opened (hot story also rewards a key at chapter 10), so new node supply is coming in.
