when the season ends and I get the chest for my server what happens if I don’t get the key by the then. I returned to gw2 like a few days ago and am trying to do these achievements like a madman. But if i don’t get the key by december 6th is it game over for me?
I’m not sure, but some of them shouldn’t be too difficult to finish. You don’t need to complete ALL of them, just enough to get the key. GL on your quest for the key!
Love the idea. It’s also not a greatsword skin, so any complains people would have about it being similar to the chainsword or greatsaw would be pointless. It wouldn’t be getting it for free because it would be neither a sword, nor a greatsword, so those classes that can use a greatsword or sword would still have their special unique weapons.

When ascended weapons released it was nice because all the kits had ascended stats, but they patched that quick =/ exotic stats for kits forever….
I would like legendary skin for my kits. 1 legendary, and it allows me to pick stats, and they will affect my kits damage, as well as the skin the pack and held weapon have.
I would also like to see other ways of setting skins for kits other than a legendary.
I like to to see myself as a backline destroyer. I rocket boot towards all those eles and necros, use big bomb to knock em all down because they typically don’t have perma-stability. Keeping these guys occupied/dead can be a huge help.
^ This, if you play tanky builds, you can REALLY disrupt the back ends of zergs. That’s where most of the squishies are going to be, the support classes, and the noobs. Even if you don’t do much damage, you can prevent these people from helping their zerg, and you most likely won’t die if you spec right, so they waste their time and cooldowns on you.
To kill thieves, I run either condi bombs, or Static Discharge. Killing thieves with a tanky condi bomb build is pretty easy, but Static Discharge can be difficult if you don’t burst them fast enough.
I am tired of spamming my loot button and developing carpal tunnel. Things need to change with the loot system. I would prefer if it really did AUTO loot for me. Or if there was a system to just retrieve loot loot when you are finished and exiting a zone.
A radius increase on AoE loot would make me happier for the time being, but it wouldn’t solve the problem I have with it.
I have believed for a long time that you should get credit for the kills of the teammates you helped (via heals, buffs, cleanses, revives, etc)
Now is that possible in the current system? Is that an easy thing to do? I have no idea. But I agree that some support builds really don’t get enough rewards for the important jobs they do.

Escorting dolyaks, building siege, repairing walls, repairing doors, scouting, running supply. These are all “useless” activities to perform in town clothes?
Many of us WvWers don’t play much PvE, some not at all. The only time we spend in PvE is to get an item quickly, or to que for WvW. We have bought content that we now cannot use. Town clothes and toys were disabled from WvW without warning, and without explanation. This is also going to result in a decent loss in gem sales now and in the future. Half the items in the gemstore are toys, costumes, and other goofy stuff. I have no need to buy any of that now if it won’t work. I’ll just keep my money in my pocket. It’s also shown many players that investing in the gem shop might be a bad idea, as any content they purchase could be disabled and/or removed without compensation!
We would like to use content that we bought. If there is an issue with a few gimmicky toys and tonics, fix them! The #2 skill on executioners axe doesn’t even work well in costume brawl, which is what it was designed for. So if it doesn’t work in costume brawl, and it’s an exploit in WvW, then FIX THE SKILL PLEASE. It’s an exploit in PvE as well, so town clothes should just be disabled everywhere and removed from the game if we’re not going to fix a little problem like 1 or 2 skills and tonics.
Many of us took to goofing off during the duller moments of WvW, like escorting yaks, transporting supply, building siege, scouting, repairing walls and doors. Now it’s just another boring task. Tarnished coast is notorious for having fun dolyak parades and battles in costume!
WvW players often comment about how they believe Anet cares less about them than PvE players. I don’t always believe that to be true, but lets examine another recent situation, the flamekissed armor. People complained, and got it changed. It was announced to players, and it was stated that if players didn’t like the new look when it comes out, they can get a refund.
Now lets look at the disabling of town clothes for WvW. No announcement, no explanation. Turned off completely, no refunds, not even an Anet response. Why? I’d hate to say it’s because it’s “just WvW, so who cares”, but that’s what it looks like!
What if when Magic Find changed, you had just told all the PvE players that they would get nothing for their gear they had?…. That would have been a disaster! Well this IS a disaster for many of us. I only play video games to have fun, don’t take it away!
Please let us have fun again in a game mode that is full of drama and long periods of tedious play.
If you loved, and now miss your town clothes shenanigans, post up your support and some screenshots of goofin off in WvW. I sure wish I had taken more to remember some of the great moments I had with them and other players.

They don’t want WvWers spending money on the game. That’s why they disabled town clothes completely, because they hate selling things to WvW players.
Ranger hate has a few reasons in GW2.
1. Most people know nothing about ranger.
2. A LOT of people play ranger, cuz it’s cool. This means there are a lot of bad ranger players, because a lot of players also means a lot of bad players.
3. It’s fun to make jokes about ranger, and some people don’t realize they are mostly jokes.
With that said, I believe ranger pets are where the main issues reside. All balancing for ranger seems to be based on the assumption that a rangers pet will be alive, and will hit every attack. As we all know, rangers pets are notorious for missing attacks, dying quickly, and generally just being kitten y, since we don’t have a precise degree of control over them. We can’t even choose when to use 3 of their 4 skills!
So until some pet changes happen, or they give us back that amazing shortbow speed at launch… and 1200 range again…. ranger will still be the point of every joke, and the last invited to parties and dungeons.
GS is fine just needs f1 and rush fixed. /thread
Exactly and HB is suppose to be a high risk/high reward skill, its working as intended.
But with target collision turned off, I just walk through warriors who 100b… it’s so easy to counter. Even when the one tricks come along and try to BC me, I just dodge, or stun break/stability out, then dodge again to evade the whirl. It’s definitely a more PvE focused skill.
What if it were changed so that you can move while using 100b, but you move very very slowly, like rp walk? Still high risk/reward, and not so easily counterable.
Debuffs, CC’s, aoe heals, aoe cleanses, tanky, disruptive. I love playing engi.
Was in WvW on my tanky boon busting build the other night when JQ had 16 arrow carts set up in SMC lords room. They were doing so much insane damage that our zerg couldn’t even get in. But Milky did! With a double dodge roll and a gear shield, I made it past all the damage, got to the arrow carts, and started knocking people off them with Big Ol Bomb, shield, magnet, throw mine, etc. Those who don’t know me were laughing when they saw me charge in by myself, and were amazed that I was still alive in there solo for a good 30 seconds. Maybe some of them will roll an engi now
This let my zerg enter SMC and destroy the rest of the carts, eventually leading to our capture of the castle. All because of 1 little asura engi.
That’s an offensive support / disrupt tank build. I also play apothecary bomb heals when I feel like being defensive support, and I like static discharge for roaming, and occasionally zerging (but SD in a zerg can be difficult sometimes, you might want rocketboots)
I don’t like the OP idea of the GS 4, it’s a copy of ranger GS 4. Except you’d get adrenaline from it, and your throw would be AoE and not single-target like rangers. I think we can come up with something better for that, but personally I like the current GS4.
I think the greatswords glaring pvp issues are it’s burst skill being lackluster, if I’m spec’d for adrenal health, sometime I never even use it. And 100b being a PvE or 1-trick-pony skill. If they added something to 100b like activating it to end your 100b early, and instead do something else like a knockdown, or weakness, or a thrusting attack that immobilizes…. it could work much better. You could still use it normally, but if you wanted/needed to, you could activate it for a different effect.
GS 5 just needs some polishing, and I wish the auto felt more… satisfying.
An engineer is tankier………… just sayin…..

It still needs work. You still get trolls that come in and mess stuff up. Also we could use a trait resetter, a repair merchant would also be nice. It would need to be in the arena so PvE players wouldn’t come in all the time just to use it.
I think they’re only 15 minutes actually. They’re good for about 1 engagement.

I just hope signet of fury won’t become mandatory to run LB. It’s already easy enough for people to move out of it… they one thing that made it good was that you could build some decent adrenaline off it again. Seems like it’s getting balanced for PvE or something….

I think the changes would have been fine if they didn’t change the radius of tier 1 and 2 combustive to be smaller.
Never thought of it. It’s probably isolated to burst skills, as they have a special mechanic system.

The unfortunate part for me is that although I mostly just main 2-3 characters now, with 1 as primary focus… that’s still 7 sets of gear….. If I was rich, I could make them all weapons, which thankfully IS an option, and it’s not purely timegated. But my other toons will most likely never get ascended weapons and armor.
As long as it doesn’t provide combat advantages but instead only interacts with WvW mechanics (i.e., very basic example, a thief being able to steal a supply). It would actually be pretty exciting if engineers were truly the best, well, siege engineers.
I agree, I don’t want any of the skills to translate over to PvE, and I don’t want them having an effect on builds. Your profession traits, build, weapons… none of that should benefit or be hindered by your WvW profession points. By keeping them their own thing, balancing them shouldn’t be nearly as difficult.
When I read the first descriptions of engineers before release, I expected something very very different. Engi is one of my mains now, but I would like to see them be more of a sapper in WvW.
Having played all classes, often, and with most builds, I can honestly say that the class balancing isn’t as bad as most people make it out to be. It’s actually pretty good. It’s a game of counters, and people who don’t know the mechanics of theirs opponents class will most likely get their butt kicked, as it should be.
Sure some are a bit weaker than others, but not enough to warrant a lot of the balancing hate.
Idea looks nice, however this might actually introduce a more heavy profession preference as there already is at the moment. Arena Net however was talking about adding more skill, what they actually already made a start with with the toxic alliance living story and this might be a very interesting way to actually do that for wvwvw.
few points on the things you say for elementalist:
elementalist:

- create a large healing spring, 10 second cast time, immobilized while casting. high cooldown10 sec cast time+immobilize? You want us poor elementalist to die??? While we are trying to save the team? there is not a single skill in the game with that cast time, so this field should be very op if it would be placed. Like full health every sec, see where I’m going? That would be massive imbalance. Beside this would be a skill for a support ele and supports ele’s are using staffs, and geuss what is on there, right. Healing rain and geyser.
It’s just an idea, I had the hardest time with ele and mesmer ideas. Everything just has to be balanced, if it’s very powerful, it should have a high cooldown and be hard to pull off (in my opinion) Come up with some ideas for ele
Account bound may be good for the player but in all likelihood would be bad for the economy .
Which can be adjusted. It would be bad if implemented into the CURRENT dye market. But if they lowered drop rates, or introduced new recipes etc to reduce the dye count, it would even out.
The main issue is that season 1 achievements were listed under the Living World tab. These achievements really weren’t designed for players like the OP. They should have just been listed under the WvW tab. As WvW players, the old achievements are nearly impossible to get (certain ones would take almost 20 years to complete) so these new ones are for WvW players to obtain. They’re not for PvE players, or sPvP players, they are WvW.
I personally don’t think you should expect rewards and achievement points for a game mode you don’t play seriously. I am wolf rank in sPvP and I only play it once in a while, I don’t think I’m entitled to those achievement points….
That would be fine in a game such as WoW, i.e. the best raiders have the top raid gear and the best pvp’ers have the gladiator mounts. This is GW2, where everyone should be capable of achieving everything. If ANET wants to make an achievement section solely for the hardcore WVW community, then they will need to make achievements for the hardcore PVE and SPVP community.
& When I play WvW I play it very seriously, that’s why I contribute myself to the zerg or havoc group that needs me and not trying to spike the guard/yak/lord that will give me achievement points.
For killing guards, right now, I would need to sit in a borderland and just farm guards outside an enemy tower. Granted a zerg doesn’t come by and pick me off, That’s still kitten ton of guards I need to kill because my build doesn’t allow me to get more than 1 hit on a guard before they drop when I run with a zerg.
As for yak’s, I rarely get to a yak before the zerg gets to it if I’m running with them. Therefore, its more beneficial for me to kill yak’s on my own and for many people they too prefer to yak hunt in groups or on their own. The number of people farming yak’s greatly exceeds the number of yak’s unless you are playing at the dead of night which won’t exist if you play on a server with oceanic as well.
That’s just the thing though, for a WvW player, these achievements were nothing. The ones that took the longest were dolyak, and sentry. I finished those in week 3, the rest I finished week 1. It seemed to me that you kind of want to get the achievements without playing WvW for them. That’s like me asking for dungeon achievements when I don’t play dungeons, or fractals, or world bosses. You’re not forced to get WvW achievements, they are there if you want them. If you really want them, then que up like everyone else and get them, they are not difficult to get.
We’ve had the same WvW achievements for over a year until seasons, know how many of them most people completed? TWO. One is for spending 10 supply, and the other for using 10 on siege. None of the others are even close to being finished. After more than a year of play! You should enjoy what you were able to get, and if you had cared enough you would have finished the rest without much effort. If you don’t get them, then tough luck, if you don’t WvW, no achievements!

I don’t see a problem there. With account bound WXP it would be easy to have a different trait line per character and and swap as the need changes.
I don’t know what server you are on, but once you get into WvW in tier 1, there’s pretty much no changing characters, unless you want to que again for hours.

Except all of these things are available on the maps that actually affect the matchup, but not on the one that doesn’t.

Didn’t think of that, a very good point. They could maybe put them IN the arena then, it would help a bit. No merchant would also keep a lot of PvE players away. Just repair/respec

I feel that with account wide you should never really have to reallocate points because you can earn so many very easily. However, sometimes people also misclick or just make a decision they regret so there should be some reallocation. I feel like 2 lifetime reallocations per character is quite generous and very reasonable.
Or once a month, there’s a way to balance it.
I made this thread a while back, and it really never saw any traffic from WvW players since it was in the suggestions section. I’d really like to bring this topic back up and see what WvW players think about it. I had some trouble with some classes, but lets brainstorm some more!

We have some very cool and interesting wvw traits now to choose from. But how about some that are unique to the class I am playing? Since Anet refuses to pool my 16 characters wvw ranks together into one account bound rank, EDIT: Account bound ranks soon!!! make it so there is a reason for me to play certain classes over other ones by giving them a specific wvw role!_
Some ideas:
(When I say things like “high cooldown” it means a number of minutes.)
engineer:
- commandeer and convert enemy siege when it hasn’t been operated by an enemy for 30 seconds. High cooldown.
- slowly repair siege, 1 piece of siege can only be repaired by 1 engineer at a time. High cooldown.
- higher tiers of the skill allow you to commandeer higher level pieces of siege, like trebuchets and eventually alphas and omegas.
- upgrade a piece of siege to superior (requires supply, but not as much as creating a new superior piece)
- ability to break down enemy siege into supply that can be picked up
Ranger:
- track enemy movements with your pets.
- additional points expand the range or effect of this
- detect traps, high cooldown
- pets, depending on type, do additional damage to walls, gates, npcs, siege. Example: Bears do more damage to gates, felines do more damage to npcs.
- special skills like sending a bird to blind an enemy siege operator for a short duration. player cannot be blinded again for a certain duration.
thief:
- spiking a player grants specific boons/buffs/effects to nearby allies. Changes depending on what class you spike. (similar to how steal takes unique skills from enemies depending on their class)
- drop a small supply trap when reviving an ally.
- steal has a change to steal (but not really steal, just create) siege blueprints or traps from enemies. (maybe from commanders!)
- require less supply to create traps.
- can have a supply, and stealth trap active at the same time.
elementalist:
- create temporary elemental siege weapons, high cooldown. Fiery rams that ignite gates, arrow carts raining lightning down, etc. Limited by area (example: only 1 ram can be placed on a gate at a time)
- create a large healing spring, 10 second cast time, immobilized while casting. high cooldown
necromancer:
- spike an enemy and create a temporary undead clone of them. Only able to have 1 undead clone at a time.
- temporarily “revive” and create undead npc’s to fight again for a brief moment. NPCs cannot be revived a second time with this skill. Tower/Keep lords and quartermasters/workers cannot be revived.
- while moving through the cloud of a trebuchet cow shot, become a poison “host” for a short duration, and spread it to more enemies in a small radius.
mesmer:
- create clones of allies, can only have 1 ally clone up at a time.
- create illusionary distractions, like a wall that makes the area appear to have no one in it. (think like a 2-way mirror) short duration, high cooldown.
guardian:
- Revive an ally faster, has an internal cooldown.
- Elite skill “Heal Area” heals downed players.
warrior:
- carry additional supply and grant it to teammates. Supply visible on warriors back so teammates know when a warrior has supply to share.
- deal additional damage to enemy siege with melee weapons
- ability to carry a banner buff on your back, either one from the warrior utilities, or something like magic find, hero’s, etc. SAMURAI!
Some of these may seem silly to you, so help me come up with some more ideas! I’m just coming up with these on the spot.
Going to re-visit this soon hopefully and add some more ideas. Glad to see anet is finally making ranks account bound!

Yup, dyes should be account bound as they were in testing. It really punishes altists.

Very curious to see any. I enjoy a challenge, but also interested in roam builds, even if its a one trick pony build, like bulls charge 100b
It had no cooldown for a long time. People exploited this trait with arrow carts to perma immobilize armies.
Internal cooldown was added.
Random patch accidentally de-activated the fix, so it had no cooldown again. Was fixed again swiftly. Only affects one target, even if it’s an AOE skill.
Furious:
As you can see in the notes above: June 25th, it was changed from 1 strike to three strikes because it was an underused trait, much like Desperate Power. I don’t understand why this trait is a Grandmaster, it honestly sucks pretty badly. I would like it changed back from 1 to 3.
This trait didn’t change at all. The wording just changed. It said before “Critical hits grant triple adrenaline” well critical hits already grant double adrenaline, so this trait only added one more strike of adrenaline.
Normal crit = 2 strikes adrenaline
Crit with furious pre-patch = 3 strikes of adrenaline
crit with furious post-patch = 3 strikes of adrenaline
No change. I’ve been using it for months of a rifle warrior, commander killing build, nothing is different. I’ve accidentally turned it off before and I REALLY notice the difference.
I’ll do some testing when I get the chance. It might be isolated to certain weapons?

All servers have bought guilds.
All servers have had guilds move off the server.
All servers have coverage holes (BG included).Nobody has any grounds to stand on.
However, Buygate buys entire servers!
