Battletorn, as an individual whose been playing WvW for the entire year, I’d like to test this too. Why family Guilds appear to be invalid, I do not know. Maybe they are relying on the guild leaders to aggregate and submit feedback?

Higher number of players competing on a higher level of coordination. It’s just better for testing. I’d be very surprised if they weren’t going to let in some VIP individuals though who run community sites.

It’s ridiculous that you have to play hard to win seasons. Why can’t we play casually and win? This is stupid! That stupid blackgate server is playing overtime, that’s so unfair!! They also killed tequatl by using teamspeak, the CHEATERS.

Here on JQ we were happy to see that RNG gave us easy matchups throughout most of Leagues, then you ruin it by forcing us to actually enter WvW!!! Where is our PPT for playing the forums?? Where is our PPT for playing PvE?!? Why don’t we get PPT while we play Battlefield 4 and do our homework??!?

This better change before next seasons or I won’t be renewing my subscription.

It is amazingly better than it was before. I hope it continues to improve, I also hope they will start optimizing data on client side so that nice rigs don’t have to run on low settings in large engagements.

I don’t think the signet rune will be an issue. Any build running those runes and enough signets to make the runes worthwhile… is sacrificing a WHOLE lot of something else. Thief is probably the one who could benefit from it most, but it’s hard to say.

The one I am worried about is the toughness one. We already have mega tank running tons of regen and super tanky armor, traits, weapons, and evasions. Do they sacrifice a lot to be a full blown tank? Yeah, but now it’s going to be even more difficult to kill them. Scary thought.

Change your AoE loot and interact buttons to different keys. I use X for interact, and F for AoE loot. It would be nice if they would have just allowed us to set looping AoE loot macros, but they said no despite community pleas.

I play WvW pretty regularly on my World and started playing a lot more WvW in the past 6 months or so. I don’t hop around; I’ve stayed on the same server since launch (not a top tier server BTW), and have no plans on leaving because I really like my guild and my server (which IMO is one of the friendliest around).

I don’t rep the ArenaNet guild when playing because I don’t want to be a distraction to others (or a target) and I also just want to play the game as a regular player. If people happen to see me repping the ArenaNet guild, it’s because I’m there on business. When I do that, though, I’m usually not in WvW, but attending a player-run community event.

Surely it couldn’t just be a poopy finisher and another chest with some dragonite ore and a green item in it. That would just be silliness!

Part of it is (or was, now that it it seemingly fixed, or a whole lot better anyway) skill lag. Passive regen + heavy armor + melee cleave #1 spam was the best counter to not being able to use skills.

I can play any of my characters fine in a zerg and contribute, right up until that 80v80v80 inside garrison makes it impossible to use any skill other then autoattack and dodge. At that point it becomes highly preferable to be on my warrior or guardian.

I think this is one of the main driving forces behind the prevalence of warriors. Hopefully it will change a bit now that skill lag seems less common.

Passive regen actually doesn’t give you anymore benefit in skill lag. Passive regens (stamina, health) are only an advantage when servers speed back up.

You have to realize that “skill lag” is not what you think it is. It’s not a que for your skills, and spamming them when they get off cooldown won’t help you. When “skill lag” happens, the server slows down and stretches out time. Your client think your skill is ready to use again after 10 seconds, but the server says its not ready for 20 seconds. If you wait the 20 seconds and press your skill once, it WILL activate on first attempt.

So to summarize, in skill lag:
1. Time slows down. When the engagement finishes, time speeds back up.
2. boons and conditions seem to last longer, but they are ticking at a slower rate.
3. Your auto attack is easy to use, as it has the shortest cooldown.
4. Don’t waste your big cooldown skills on nothing, as you will have to wait a long time for them to be back up.
5. There are 2 communications happening between server and client as far as cooldowns go. It first checks client to see if the skill is ready to use. If it passes client then it asks server, if server says no, it won’t let you use your skill. It also works the other way around, if server says yes it’s ready, and client says no, it won’t let you use it. Both server and client must agree that the cooldown is ready for use.

Number 5 is the reason why passive regens are amazing when servers speed back up. I can use my warrior healing signet and it will tick 2-3 times faster than normal. The guy I am attacking used his heal skill and it is now on a 20 second cooldown. He doesn’t benefit from the speed boost on his heal skill like I do, as his client will still restrict it’s use, even though the server knows the skill is ready.

All classes are viable, maybe not for what you want to do with them, but there are roles they can play very effectively.

That being said, as far as versatility, some classes can run very versatile builds. For example, I can play warrior with basically any set of armor I wish, swap to any weapons I want, change any utilities, and still be effective. Other classes get stuck into their role through trait or weapon limitations (like being forced to use certain traits to function in the build)

Of all the professions, the ones who have the hardest time in LARGE scale WvW combat are pretty much ranger and thief. There are some good build options, but often they are BORING to play. These classes have excellent builds for small combat and roaming.

I find myself playing warrior the most because I have so many options. I can play Condi bow, condi swords, zerk bow, zerk hammer, tanky dps hammer, full tank hammer, mace shield hammer pony, zerk rifle, hambow, regen tank, team buff support, axe assassin, etc. In addition to that, I can make any of them tanky by adding a warhorn, quick breathing, and cleansing ire. I can swap in traits like Death from Above on command and knock people off rams. I can also scout better than any other class in the game.

And about dynamics. I mean the current area is a strip of land next to a hill whereas this is a true arena that allows guilds to operate with more fluid movement akin to open field battles in wvw.

Not to mention less of a chance of “Obstructed.” Which the current area definitely has.

Oh it’s absolutely better than the current location. But unfortunately that “Obstructed” Will most likely still happen. There is also an out-of-range bug, which may be related, but I doubt this arena will fix that. I think the range bug is server-side lag related, or a server -> client miscommunication. (example: Fire basic rifle shot at retreating enemy “Out of Range”, I stop chasing, enemy continues to run away, fire basic shot again, shot hits. If he was out of range on the first shot, how did the second shot land when he was now even further away? )

Another example is with rifle killshot. Often I will channel a killshot (1500 range) and it will say “out of range” then with neither target moving and closer or further away, I fire a basic shot (1200 range) and it lands. How does that work?

Obstructed Example: I was chasing an enemy yesterday, I was running down a slope and he was running up one in front of me on the other side, I channeled a killshot…. obstructed. There was at least 20 feet of vertical space above the ground between us, nothing was even close to obstructing the shot. I’d be surprised if these 2 bugs were fixed with this new arena, as I think they are more deeply rooted than terrain.

I made the suggestion before that we create WvW servers. These would be servers that you could select in ADDITION to your pve server. But the difference with WvW servers would be that you need to be active on it, or you get removed after a time. This would create a more accurate population count. As for determining what time slot those players actually play… I dunno, didn’t come up with a solution for that one yet.

Awww I’m very disappointed. It has no dynamics, it’s just flat ground. That lowers the strategy level significantly. No terrain….. Oh well. Maybe they will add more areas eventually for the more hardcore GvG players.

This is a silly thread. Devs move around to different servers all the time. We have seen the same dev play only BG, then JQ, then SoR. Guess what? He probably played on some other ones too.

If winning was purely about coverage, we could just sit afk in our spawn and win. What the little forum warriors forget is that it’s a combination of strategy AND coverage. You can’t says its all coverage when blackgate ticks 350 in NA prime and JQ and SoR are both qued all maps.

Heck, I haven’t even been joining the EBG zerg this week, there’s been a bunch of us goofing around in umberglade defeating SoS armies while our zerg takes objectives (when map is qued for JQ). SoS really likes umberglade for some reason, even though they hardly ever take it when the fuzz is around. Last night we held it for hours until SoS paid JQ to finally come over and 2v1 our little camp! But at least SoS keeps trying, they are amazingly persistent.

Great, another chestbeating thread from BG. Not every server has 24 hour queues all week on all maps and when there is legitimately less people on other respective servers. Even though fighting bgs zone blobs on all maps the with the same 25 people on 3maps, at least we’re getting fights – it would’ve been horribly boring to stay on an overstacked server with no competition.

Hm, um, well…. I tried to think of a response to this. But I don’t have anything for you. I’ll let your thoughts simmer a bit longer.

I’ve been on Blackgate since day 1. I have seen the many ups and downs. I learned from them. Others have either not had as drastic of changes to their server, or they did not learn from them. Blackgate knows points. We know what is obtainable, we know what is reasonable. SoR and JQ stop playing after a 5k gap. If you play hard you can make up a 20k gap in a night.

I personally wish they would change stuff a bunch during seasons so we can get some nice bugs back like no dolyaks to SMC from Blue Side. That was fun! #Sarcasm

Delete some temp file somewhere, if I remember correctly… I only had that problem once, but relogging the next day showed the correct amount of gems for me.

i have 2 characters with 2 sets of harvesting tools.

We got them for commodity…..that is totally lost if you have to get to the bank to Exchange them.

It does change things for someone like me though. Since I get in character “moods” and I will play one character straight for a while, then switch to another one.

I finally got a response, and they confirmed the correct amount of gems I was to recieve. They also told me that I would find that amount in my gem balance. But it still says 0 gem balance after multiple relogs.

I feel like I had something similar happen before and they had me do something to then display my proper amount of gems. But I don’t remember what it was. Did anyone else have this issue?

Also, yeah the soulbound instructions were kinda confusing. Basically, I had already traded my soulbound unlimted tools for the account bound ones, deleted the extras I didn’t need, and that worked out fine.

Oh that’s good to hear. I was worried I might not get my gems back for having made them all account bound first. Still waiting to get my gems, but I guess I will go delete my other now as well.

Here is a short (translated) instruction:

1. You have to delete the additional items. Only Soulbound items are allowed (which is weird imo if you already traded them for Account Bound ones. Still waiting for an official reply here).

2. Reply to this ticket so an employee can verify the deletion and send the gems.

I had trouble understanding the Only soulbound items part as well. But now I understand (hopefully) it means that if you bought the 1000 gem version that exists now, they are not giving refunds for those ones

The jade weapons are not in the list of items anymore. It has everything from fused, to sclerite, to wintersday, to fortune scraps, etc. But the jades have gone missing!

Hoping to get my gems back soon, I deleted it as per their instructions and sent a reply back =/ it’s been many hours.

It’s buggy at the moment. Pulled by guard across panel, panel shatters, but I land on point. Then, instant death while body is on the point.

That’s not a new bug. It’s been happening forever. It’s a server/client communication issue. Your client knows you made it to safety, but due to lag and poor communication with the server, the server thinks you fell and died.

Happens a lot in wvw, sometimes we can’t even res people because the server thinks their body is actually in a different location than is displayed on screen.

I really dislike the changes to skyhammer. The only people you could reliably knock off skyhammer were either noobs, or people that you outplayed/outwitted. “put an emphasis on positioning and skillful play.” This does the exact opposite, it deludes play, and allows people with poor positioning to wander around like chickens with their heads cut off, and not get penalized as much for it. It makes it so that unskilled players with poor situational awareness can get away with it.

If people don’t get penalized for the mistakes they make, in a game that wants to be in the competitive scene, they never learn (get better) and the skill base never gets higher. These kinds of changes only serve to hurt sPvP in the long run, and it will have a very hard time becoming an e-sport if we continue to have things like this happen.

JQ has obviously the weakest EU force now. Staying another week in EU serv will greatly reduce the effects of the horrible schedule for JQ…
And moving to the weakest of the top three during their timezone would guarantee them fights… even after the season 1. Everyone is like forgeting that game will continue after season 1. And then, having only two servers competing during their timezone would be less more fun than having a good ol’ threeway.
But we all know that it will end with Bull joining SoR… we just need to get used to the idea^^

Come to JQ! So you can fight tier 2 servers all seasons! I’m sure those tier 2 servers have great coverage and good fights!
