Now that would actually be kinda cool. A little silly, but still cool!
Engineer by design is silly. We run around throwing random elixir buffs and knocking ourselves over.
The change they made to magnet, cone of use is now very small and seems to stop if they move to a side. I didn’t think the old way magnet worked was an issue… Magnet sometimes just drops a person to the floor, without pulling them at all. Magnet sometimes pulls someone all the way to you, then teleports them halfway back and you miss prybar. Magnet sometimes pulls someone halfway, but then they teleports them to you in a second or 2. Magnet won’t pull dolyaks in wvw.
Being feared towards a cliff, using a stunbreaker to keep safe. Then your character falls over dead, even though you didn’t fall off the cliff.
None of the pistol skills are finishers or fields. (Auto attack doesn’t count)
I feel like the rifle #3 blunderbuss skill should reward more aggressive players with more damage.
Randomness of tossed elixirs, and elixir X.
Mortar uselessness.
Ret damage extremely punishing to grenades and flamethrower. Rendering them more or less useless against an experienced force.
The low HP heal bug. Example: you have 100 hp, you heal for 10k. On your screen you see that you now have 10k health. Enemy hits you for 100 damage and you get downed.
Although overcharged shot is very cool, and looks really powerful when it knocks you back… we are CCing ourselves… which seems incredibly silly.
Static discharge having to be manually aimed with like 90% of the toolbelt skills.
Having to invest 30-40 points for a grenade spec that then gets penalized so heavily vs retaliation.
Having only 1 mainhand weapon choice. Want to use a shield but don’t want to use a pistol? TOO BAD.
No crossbows or hammers yet. ^Maybe a one handed mini crossbow!
So many awesome traits but so few effective wvw large scale combat builds. Mostly due to the retaliation issue.
As for the rocket boots discussion it’s an issue for all leaps. Swoop does it, ride the lighting, etc. I don’t have it happen with savage leap though for some reason.
@OP I just manually aim my FT #2. (generally where your characters head is, that is where the shot will fire, might be different for asura)
Yup something about ret needs to change. There is a big difference between…
- Penalizing someone for using multiple attacks quickly.
-Instakilling and engineer someone for hitting a group of perma retaliation players with 1 or 2 grenade tosses.
Some suggestions:
Reduce ret damage base
Some way of countering ret damage. Runes that reduce its damage? traits?
Introduce some sort of cooldown, either
1. Can only take 1 tick of ret damage per skill use, per person. Example: 1 grenade auto attacking hitting 5 people with retaliation = 5 procs of ret damage taken, instead of 15.
2. Can only receive ret damage once per target, on a short cooldown like .5 seconds. This would mean your aoe skills like grenades could be usable, but wouldn’t take off half your HP per throw. Ret would still serve its intended purpose, but wouldn’t be game breaking vs skills like grenades and flamethrower.
Anet claims to dislike zergs. Yet they incentivize it heavily with an AoE cap and perma retal blobs.
Place a range mod to retal making it so you only receive the full damage of retal at melee range (and less the farther out you are).
I’m sorry but I don’t agree with this idea. Melee players already have a harder time for the most part. They shouldn’t be penalized more for being closer while ranged get to easy mode in the back. (No I don’t play melee)
Problem with removing the RNG and breaking Elixir X into two elites, or allowing choice in what it does (which would essentially turn it into two elites): It’s a conglomerate of several Elite skills of other classes. Rampage is Warrior’s, Tornado (and probably Whirlpool, though I’m not certain) is Elementalist’s. Plague is Necromancer’s.
Dividing it into several separate skills that all mimic other class’s elites would just lead to us having reliable copies of what other people can do.
I’ve always disliked that they gave us an elite skill that is just other professions elite skills….. It makes me think they couldn’t come up with third elite for engi and just said “Oh whatever, lets give them some random chance at other professions elite skills”
Oh look another thread created by those who know little of the class they complain about. Thief would never be able to secure kills if they weren’t able to do this or one one of their other stomp types. Also stopping a stealth stomp is not complicated. You can even manually aim your interrupt skills if you are experienced enough to know where they are standing while stomping you. Did they blind you first? Well throw an auto attack THEN your interrupt.
If you think you can win vs a skilled thief while in down state you are silly, even if you are a ranger. If you are trying to delay the thief so your friend can come save you, then manually aim your interrupt. Some downed state skills don’t even need to see the target, like ranger aoe interrupt, or engineer bomb blast. Also, it’s your friends job to stop the stomp. If the ally is too inexperienced to know when a stealth stomp is happening, sorry, tough luck. If the ally IS experienced, then they can easily interrupt and stop the thief, then res you.
Stealth stomping isn’t broken. Elixir S stomping isn’t even broken, and neither is stability stomping, shadow step stomp, distortion stomp, blind field stomp, they all have a counter. (interrupts, and boon strips) Sometimes you must interrupt the beginning of the stomp rather than the end of it, but there is almost ALWAYS a window of opportunity to interrupt on these types.
The one and only stomp mechanic you should be complaining about is Mist Form stomp, as it literally has no counter and is unstoppable.
TLDR? Stealth stomp isn’t the issue. Either you or your allies are inexperienced. Maybe instead of complaining about how someone is spiking you, you should be analyzing why you got downed in the first place and adjust your playstyle.
I main engi now, but have played almost every type of build imaginable on all classes. I used to main thief as well, but it’s more or less retired due to boredom. I have no issues with people stealth stomping.

Oh yes, forgot to add:
Crossbow. Pin stuff to walls, exploding bolts, etc etc.
Rework to elixir X and Mortar. Elixir X should allow you to choose. I love the idea of changing mortar to a bazooka, would actually be useful and let’s face it… it would be awesome. Who doesn’t love rocket launchers?
Increase projectile speed of grenades. It takes about 3 seconds for a full range attack to land. Which is ridiculous. Heck, you can miss at 600 range because of how slow they are!
Rocket boots under water, similar to rangers lightning reflexes skill.
^and agree on the static discharge point. The toolbelt skills which fire a random lighting bolt where your camera is pointed should be changed to locking onto whatever you have targeted.

Engi wishlist:
Make it so that I can use FT and grenades in wvw without killing myself in 2 attacks due to retaliation. This means a major rework to the entire retaliation system. Unfortunately changing the engi skills won’t really do anything, the way ret works needs to change.
Give us hammer, and maybe another main hand weapon.
Yeah, I like to play dress up with my characters. Since I have 16 of them, buying gemstore skins is almost pointless. I’d be more than happy to buy all the armor skins, and MOST of the townclothes if they made them permanent unlocks.
The suggestion here is that gemstore skins function like HoM gear. Once you have it, you can get the skins over and over. Many of us run multiple builds on characters, so we have multiple sets of armor. It seems rather unfair that I must buy the entire set of armor again and again and again just so I can wear the same coat on my other set(s) of gear… I’d be more than happy to pay a bit more in gems just so my skinset would be unlocked forever, just like the new zenith, radiant, and hellfire skins.

I tried the one on the wiki about 5 or 6 times, yet it never gives me an encrusted pistol. Does anyone know if this recipe is accurate? Or if it just has a low chance?

New boots are way better. Don’t bring back old rocket boots.
Engi as a heavy armor class wouldn’t make sense. They are innovators and improvisers. You don’t tinker with gadgets, kits, turrets, and alchemy in plate armor. That would just be dumb.
-1 to the idea from me. You do have other options besides kits, you have elixirs, and gadgets. Both of which are very very good. Oh yeah and you have turrets, which I don’t use, but they can also be good. (I do like healing turret however)
I do think engi deserves another weapon though. Hammer has been mentioned often.
I would stop playing engi if it was changed to heavy armor. It would ruin the feel and play of the class. I’m already tankier than guardians and warriors, I don’t want them to nerf me. Which is what they would have to do if they gave engis heavy armor.
There is basically no reward for winning. You get far more reward for killing more champions and having fun.
It’s the ONE thing you get from this weeks living story, the events are bland, there is almost no content…. and then once you manage to get the one thing there is to be had… it has a 30 minute cooldown timer…. that’s super fun. Not.
The cooldown is 30 minutes if you unequip your infinite watch knight tonic. So watch out.

I’ve encountered a few events that are bugged out and you can’t open the balloon gates. I guest to the other servers and it’s the same thing, all bugged. It seems to be when it wants me to kill aetherblades and lower morale that it is bugged. The escort and duel ones seem to work fine.
Are there any solutions for this? Or am I just SoL and cannot get my balloon achievement?
So solo join arena would count as a tournament now?
I haven’t played since they changed this all around. How do you get the salvage materials free and paid tournament tokens now?
Yup. Many many many have wanted this forever, especially for wvw when there isn’t time to g back for bags. But they won’t do it, and they won’t allow us to use looping loot macros. If they would allow even a toggle setting that aoe lots every one second I would be happy. They don’t need to use complicated scripting, they can use the current system.
You play thief yet you seem to know little about it. Thief has many viable builds and variations, even large scale combat ones. Maybe you don’t enjoy those builds, but they ARE very viable. Its weapon sets actually are pretty different from each other.
But you’re forgetting that you are playing a class that was designed to be an assassin. If you want it to not be an assassin, and play more like one of the other classes…then go PLAY ONE OF THOSE CLASSES.
It takes about a day and a half of pve to make a new level 80, and you can run dungeons for levels/gear while you are doing it.
Thief doesn’t need buffing or nerfing.
Banner isn’t the only skill that can res a claimer. Many classes have one. Even healing fields like shadow refuge put its health up. Im not sure if Mesmer has a way to res claimer, I know every other can.
I can even rarely reflect projectiles.
I don’t think there are any masculine heavy armors for female characters. They all look pretty dainty and weak. I’m not sure what kind of armor you’re lookin for, seems to all be there already.
Would be hard to balance, nay… Impossible to balance with current system.
Plus I don’t like the idea.
I will say at least we get some info now via Devon. We used to get ignored by the old head of wvw.
I don’t like when anet puts pve stuff in wvw and then we get all these pve players who really don’t care about wvw coming in to qued maps. They don’t know what they are doing, they don’t care, they dont listen to commanders, they give bad information in map chat, or talk sbout useless junk, and they waste time, materials, and space.
I wouldn’t mind it so much if there were not ques, but I’m tier 1, there’s lots of ques.

Yup. Usually a have a friend around willing to party up. Sometimes I just stay in a party with an offline person just so I can mark my own targets.

Honestly people, even when I was in large 40v40 fights, I was NEVER getting more than 4-5 stacks of confusion.
All of these people saying warriors CAN get 25 stacks need to go out and see how often it ACTUALLY happens in WvW…I didn’t experience any of the doomsday scenarios people are talk about even when in very large fights…
In theory, mesmers can still stack 25 stacks of confusion. Heck, I used to be able to do that when I ran a full confusion build. But how often did it actually happen? Rarely. If the person did 1 dodge at the right time, it was back to 0, etc…
During the entire reset night, I didn’t hear anyone on my server saying they were insta-dying from 25 stacks of confusion that were continually on them, etc…I think this is just like the old glamour mesmer threads: all doomsday, very little evidence that the doomsday stuff happens on a semi-frequent basis, and even more doomsday. The runes need some tweaking, but they’re new, therefore people PANIC! But remember, DON’T PANIC, and ADJUST
I have 6 AOE interrupt skills on my engineer condition build + 1 single target, and if I roll rampage, I get even more. I don’t know what class you’re playing, but for certain builds and classes it is extremely broken, due purely to the fact that it has no cooldown.
It’s a place for war not PvE bunnies hopping around chasing butterflies.
Problem solveThen why are there mobs, bunnies, birds, moose, spawn hangouts, tp, vendors, boats, pve events with quaggans hylek skritt centaur boar worm jellyfish spider tree spirit grub and Mosquitos? There are even cats chasing mice!

Aoe loot (which they should allow us to loop macro)
The wvw abilities are OK…. But up until the build/repair mastery and catapult line, the abilities really didn’t change much of anything. Arrow carts were broken and OP for a while… But that’s kind of it….
In the meantime we still
can’t drop party members
Have a bad commander system
Have glitched keeps camps, upgrades
Skill lag
Boring bl maps that were designed to have orbs
Dolyaks with paper towel armor
Keeps that can be way pointed into after being attacked
Mega zergs map hopping
No actual rewards for playing wvw and trying to win
Towers that drop you through the floor
Doors that can be glitched through
Speed hackers in wvw
Certain skills or traits are completely useless in all of wvw/pve/spvp
Siege placement bugs (disappearing siege upon placement)
Invuln areas where there should be none
People getting stuck in walls
Ranger pets running up walls
Meteor shower has no red aoe circle
Dragon tooth exploit
Mesmer greatsword shooting lasers through closed doors
Soul bound wvw ranks
I’m sure I’ve forgotten many more.. It’s late
Oh and people who exploited to make thousands of siege and omega golems via a duplication bug…. Didn’t get banned.
Yeah it has happened for ages. Some nights it does it more than other nights. Can only confirm that it happens in wvw. It’s a hard sound to describe. It’s between a ‘click’ and a ‘chunk’ sound.

Very true. To start they could give us 2 running specs, one for land, 1 for water, just like our utility skills.
Make one borderland a swamp, make one a desert, make another a jungle.
Then heres a suggestion how about u t1/t2 servers stop stacking on top of eachother andgo to t3- – because the grass is green here with little to no lag except for fridays stop complaining about something uve done to urself and megablobing if ur a roamer only im sorry
Because there are people for us to kill all times of day. Tier 2 and below if you play at obscure hours its all pvdoor or its happening to your server and you have no one to run with. BORING.
I’ve been on Blackgate from the start. I helped make it tier 1 and #1. I’m not moving to some other server with casuals that once they start losing engagements, log off and go play pve or hello kitty adventures.
Capes are an awesome way to make your character look exactly like everyone else.

The stability/lag problems we run into are because we asked anet to raise the wvw player limit for each map and they did. Now what we have is a problem where if they lower the limit to stable numbers they are screwing our larger communities.
So are we being trolled? Yep we did a dam good job of it… especially milky.
but this is really just a guess.
But I love ques. When else can I just sit and enjoy the entertainment that is lions arch map chat?
