my thief is getting hit with projectiles whilst doing HS, it’s the same as usual, dont know what your whinning about???
It’s not 100% of the time. It’s situational. It depends on several factors:
1. Which direction the thief is using HS, misses more often when a HS is used laterally across your screen
2. Which part of the HS your projectile fires at.
3. Proximity to the thief using HS.Some examples:
1. Thief spamming HS on a teammate ahead and is moving laterally across my screen, my projectiles will almost all miss.
2. Projectiles fired during the start of HS seem to miss, while ones fired mid-animation or near the end have a higher chance to land.
3. Close range projectiles on a HS spammer can land sometimes due to the fact that they are so close. It’s not whining. It’s a mechanical bug and this is the bug report forum.
That isn’t a bug, it’s because your projectiles aren’t homing (in most cases) so they try to predict where the target will be. If someone moves out the way in time then the projectile will miss; or if they’re moving when you fire and then they stop, the shot will have been fired under the assumption that they maintained their velocity so it’ll be aimed too far ahead of them.
You are correct but incorrect. HS has a pre-determined end-point. It’s not the same as say, using strafe to avoid a projectile. The issue is with the mechanics of HS. Have you ever tried using HS twice down a hill? You’ll find that you heartseeker once forward, then once backwards, even though you are still aimed forwards with no targets selected. The skill is bugged in where it thinks your actual character is while the skill is in use. The projectiles SHOULD miss if timed correctly. But not by a football field length. I’ve had projectiles that fly up into the sky a full 60 degrees the wrong direction.
I’ve experienced this a lot in the last few days. I channel killshot on someone that is well within range, fire, then it says out of range…. but here’s the kicker. I can fire my auto attack immediately after and hit them, when they have moved no closer to me.
Auto attack has 1200 range, killshot has 1500. So my killshot was “out of range” but my auto attack… which has less range.. isn’t out of range.
I really wish I had some capture software to show this.

EDIT: Gonna put some of this in the main post
(edited by WhiteAndMilky.2514)
What?
Quite a few of use bought several units of each item in order to use them on several characters, due to the fact that they were soulbound on equip.
Suddenly making these items account-bound would more or less mean we have bought the extra versions of them for no reason and that would most likely annoy quite a few people.
It wouldn’t be for no reason, it would still be a convenience item, as it has been since its creation.
After a while you’d get tired of transferring them around and say to yourself “Gee I wish I had just bought a few of them back then so I didn’t have to move them around all the time…” oh but wait! you already did!
DARK nights please. I personally would like for them to be REALLY REALLY dark…. but I know that won’t happen.
I would like to see this enhanced because I think it would bring a new level of play to WvW, which is what I care about. Nighttime ambushes, more coordinated scouting, timing attacks for specific times of day strategically.
as long as this won’t happen^^
^ Nevermind, I want chairs now. Chair karma trains in wvw. Choo Choo!
As other people have pointed out, there shouldn’t be professions created and then left to find a role. Instead if there is a gap in the game roles then the dev’s should firstly see if a existing class can fit that role. That would empower all the existing players of that class to play the new role or in previous roles, as their choice. Only if the role cannot be added to existing classes would there need to be a new class for the role, with all the new traits, skills, equipment, class vendors, story lines, artwork, voice acting, game balancing, etc that goes with it.
It seems pretty rare that classes are added to games on a need basis. More often than not they are hybrids of existing classes. Which is nice because it allows players to enjoy parts of multiple classes.
They WILL add a class eventually, I am almost positive. I can also almost guarantee that it will not be because the game NEEDS one, but because players WANT one.. and arenanet will profit from its release.
I hope and pray that sitting in chairs is at the bottom of arenanets priority list. How about they spend their time fixing gamebreaking bugs that have existed for a year and make some QoL changes?
Go sit on a patch of grass.
Yes they should be account bound.
It’s hard to say. It could be intentional or accidental. But you’d be surprised how many maps have a giant ocean underneath them (I fell through CoF floor one time and found myself in a fiery sea!) The harpoon gun does require LoS. But if he had auto-targeting on, it can target people without needing to see them, and then he could fire the harpoon gun through the ground (as the bottom side of the ground-plane has no collision, since people aren’t supposed to be down there)
You can always disable your auto feature by [CTRL + R Click] on the 1 skill UI. This is how I used to play thief in order to avoid accidental skill use. I also used it on things like sword ranger to prevent myself from auto-locking onto and enemy and being unable to disengage.
Just wondering why there isn’t a 3rd heavy armor class but there is 3 medium and light armor classes. I have a idea for the last heavy armor class….A Pole-arms specialist….only uses spears, poleaxes, javelins, halberds and other poles arms that anyone else can think of. Its just a idea didn’t think too much into it.
I was just about to post this after reading your title. I’d love to see a class like this. I’d also really like to see a pike. I can imagine this type of class in many flavors, high mobility, support, tank, assassin, any of which I would be more than ok with. I just like polearms….
The idea here is to allow us to set more targeting settings.
For example, if I assign a key for nearest target… I would like to set it so that it DOES NOT select things like binding roots, engineer turrets, or pve mobs (I play wvw)
The targeting system at times can be incredibly frustrating and clunky. I think allowing us some settings like this could really refine it for individuals.
Other things I would like to see:
When cycling through targets, it shouldn’t be allowed to go back and forth between the same 2 targets many times when other targets are present… It’s so annoying when I’m engaging 3 people, and the targeting system will only toggle target between 2 of them….. Then I have to manually go click target.
A function to target “Last Target” If I lose targeting on something, would be nice to have a function to re-target what was last selected.
I really love this idea and I hope others appreciate how fluid the water combat base mechanics are. It has so much potential, let’s not waste it! Ideas like this will take water combat to a whole new level in this game.
I’ve spent 0 hours on lore this game, and I play WvW, not PvE. Now I’m finding myself a bit curious about it and would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. I also didn’t play GW1, so my lore knowledge is little-to-none.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
One thing should be mentioned though, it’s not always a bug. Sometimes the keep lord runs out, and pugs repair the wall/door…. trapping their own lord outside.
That would be ok if there were actually holes in the walls/open doors. This case is keep lords and NPCs being pulled out of keeps when there are no walls down or doors opened
Yup, I know. I’ll post again.
One thing should be mentioned though, it’s not always a bug.
it’s not always a bug.
not always
It’s just addition, not subtraction. Don’t misread.
I thought this was going to be a post about losing stacks when downed. Personally we should lose 10 when downed, not the whole stack -.-
I think it’s fair that you should lose them all. The downed and rally mechanics already promote sloppy play. Stacks make people try harder. (Sometimes it does make them run from battle too… which is unfortunate) but in the end I believe it promotes higher levels of thinking and forces people to try harder and pay attention.
One thing should be mentioned though, it’s not always a bug. Sometimes the keep lord runs out, and pugs repair the wall/door…. trapping their own lord outside.
You SHOULD lose your stacks when you change to a new map. It would be unfair if you moved a large force into a new map and everyone had 25 stacks….
If you are so worried about your stacks, get a secondary set of weapons (mainhand and offhand) with your stacking sigil in both, equip them, kill stuff fast, then go back to your main weapons. This is what dedicated players do.
When an enemy casts meteor shower, there is no red AoE circle. There used to be one, but it got broken in a patch months and months ago. This is being abused severely in WvW with glass cannon elementalists, as by the time you figure out it is an ENEMY meteor shower, and not a friendly one…. it’s too late and you’ve lost a LOT of your HP.
Heartseeker is currently working LIKE an evade when it comes to projectiles. When you use a projectile attack on someone while they are using heartseeker, the projectile will go flying off into the middle of nowhere and miss completely. It’s quite annoying as it allows some HS spammers to become almost invulnerable to projectile attacks.
It’s not 100% of the time. It’s situational. It depends on several factors:
1. Which direction the thief is using HS, misses more often when a HS is used laterally across your screen
2. Which part of the HS your projectile fires at.

Was messing around with killshot warrior friend last night, we both channeled killshot on the same thief around .5 seconds apart. This meant that the 2 killshots went out at different times. The thief target used a heartseeker across our screens laterally and we both missed. No blindness, no evades, , no aegis or blocks, about 900 range (killshot has 1500 range)
EDIT: Typo in the title… great.

Go into the mists and find out.
Oh I will. I do quite a thorough amount of testing on all my builds. But I always enjoy to hear others opinions, and perhaps they have something to share that I have yet to think about.
Is losing the toughness from rabid worth it though? How much more damage are we talking over something like a rabid gear and a bleed/fire build?
Trying to find a solid longbow wvw build. But as my experience is a bit outdated (stopped using my LB warrior when they changed omnom pie internal CD) I’d appreciate any information you guys can provide.
Mainly wondering how longbow works with zerker gear. I used to play rabid, so that’s all I know about. I will most likely be running sword/warhorn as secondary set for mobility, group buffs, etc.
Thanks!
Aegis is also removed when you use another skill to block the attack.
like warrior shield block? guardian shelter? stuff like that? I really need to test some of this.
You know about the shortcut at the end with your 1 skill right? Someone probably snaked it from you right at the end, and then logged after getting their loot.
Actually it doesn’t hurt the economy. It affects the economy, but it doesn’t necessarily hurt it. I benefit from bots as I don’t attain my money through the items they are harvesting. So they lower the cost on those items that I need by over saturating the market with them. (I have no patience for farming)
People like you who are farming those same items lose money as the value of them gets decreased. Perhaps you should find other ways to make money until…. I expect they will do another mass bot ban soon. Keep reporting them!
I haven’t tested this specifically, but I’ve noticed it happening as I’ve played GW2 since the beginning. Perhaps only certain skills are doing it, I am unsure.
Enemy is blinded and attacks me. I have aegis on. Enemy misses and my aegis is removed…. I don’t see how this could be intentional.
in sPvP rifle zerk can be viable, but you must understand that you are tanky dps support, and you cannot survive unless your teammates protect you. If you get protection from teammates, you can WRECK the other team. The new signet of might is a rifle warriors best friend, as it will allow you to channel killshot, pop signet of might, and then shoot through blocks/reflects (and piercing if you spec for it) this means you can easily down daggerstorm thieves, feedback mesmers, multi-block guardians, GS rangers, shield warriors, etc etc etc. They always think they are safe, and will literally watch you channel, pop your signet…. and they still won’t dodge. Maybe they should have read those patch notes
It takes an extremely skilled and experienced player to utilize zerk rifle to its full potential, and it also takes a skilled team supporting you. You support them, they support you.
Warriors were actually a balanced pvp class when Omnomberry Pies had no cool-down, since our attacks were so fast, it gave us some highly-skilled sustain that we had to perform well to achieve.
It was a crutch that allowed people to play sloppily, deal good dps, and be as tanky as their non-dps tank counterparts. It needed to get nerfed, and tanky dps builds have been much more on par with other builds now.
My warrior longbow build got hit HARD by the nerf, but I’ll be fully honest, the build was OP and I could play it VERY sloppy and still live forever.
All racial skills are available in WvW.
But there is a solution to everyones problems here… Racials could act differently depending on what class they are being utilized on. (lower/longer durations, more/less damage, etc etc.) It would be a lot more work than arenanet is probably going to do… but it is a solution nonetheless.
Do I think it will happen? No. But I hope Anet will at least consider lowering some of the elite cooldown timers.
All these people saying no seem to be saying
I don’t want people telling me my build is bad and have to change my build to play with PUGS
It’s true, with an inspect feature people WILL tell you your build is kitten and kick you from the party, but there’s absolutely NOTHING stopping you from making your own party and welcoming anyone and letting the people that only want certain builds play with each other.
It’s like people getting mad that they can’t bring their rangers to 4 warrior one mesmer CoF runs. Make your OWN group with your own rules and watch that fill up in an instant.
Unfortunately the overwhelming majority of players, especially in PvE, do NOT craft their own builds. They know NOTHING about viability and adopt a mentality of “If it’s not the build I’m using (which they found on the internet) then it must suck!” It’s a false sense of elitism. You can’t judge other peoples builds if you don’t even know how to craft a build yourself and make it viable.
Example:
Are you aware that ranger can be the tankiest profession in the entire game if spec’d and geared in the right way?
(edited by WhiteAndMilky.2514)
Nope don’t want to be inspected, and I DEFINITELY do not want people examining my builds. They are very personal and I worked long hours theory crafting them all for WvW.
You still severely overpower all those lower level zones. The only thing you’re not going to overpower is dungeons, and that’s as it should be.
^ all this.
Plus, if you don’t want it, you wouldn’t have to use it! It would be a setting for hardcore WvW players. Those that like to RP or feel a bit more immersed could NOT use the setting and still pick up their bags like normal. Heck if you REALLY like pressing F, you could turn the current AoE loot off too and go back to standing right on top of them to press F.
They tend to move quite slowly when it comes to quality of life issues.
^ This. I really wish arenanet would just take a 2 week break from living story and fix some of the long-existing bugs and annoyances.
First the put the loot bags at your feet.. Then they give you AoE looting because running up to each one wasn’t fast enough.. Now you want automated looting? Let’s get rid of loot altogether since people can’t be grateful.
I’ll just quote myself a few times for yah.
WvW loot retrieval has gotten MUCH better since beta, and the new AoE loot feature has helped dramatically, but the problem still persists.
The new AoE loot system has helped us dramatically, and we really DO appreciate it greatly.
Here is the more modern philosophy:
Kaizen – Japanese business philosophy of constant improvement. Is it broken? No. Is it inefficient or pointless? Yes. So improve it.Your argument doesn’t work.
By your own argument the whole game should play itself because it’s inefficient and pointless otherwise.
Having to press F manually to loot isn’t pointless. It’s the way things are and how they should be. Why? Because you’re playing a game not watching a movie.
You still don’t understand. Pressing F is essentially waste, as it does absolutely nothing for PvP. You could NEVER loot, and it wouldn’t make you more or less effective in WvW combat. Thus, it is a pointless act, and should be improved further. You might only play WvW for 30 minutes a week, but the rest of us play for hours a day and are breaking our F keys.
Do some reading please, I hate having to explain things twice, it’s a pet peeve of mine. Put on your learning cap – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaizen
EDIT: You might not want to tell the japanese that you think their business philosophy is wrong, as it’s worked pretty great for them so far.
(edited by WhiteAndMilky.2514)
I believe that most JPs in this game are too easy to be honest. It’s not an accomplishment if it takes no skill to complete and has no risk. I think if they could disable portals in jumping puzzles, people might start actually trying to do them… and find out that they aren’t all-together difficult.
I loved the QQ about aetherblade puzzle and clocktower. I enjoy that people enter the more difficult jump puzzles and expect them to be easy…. It’s very counter-intuitive and quite entertaining I must admit. Puzzles that have the potential to kill players are my favorite, as they require more skill and planning, and thus feel more rewarding.
Heck, metrica was even so dangerous for a bit that if you fell, you could get BANNED! Talk about risks!
(edited by WhiteAndMilky.2514)
Spamming the AOE key worked fine until now, and it works in pretty much every other MMO too. They even made it easier and made the bags appear at your feet.
You’re missing the point.
Here is the old philosophy your mind is stuck in:
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. – WRONG
Here is the more modern philosophy:
Kaizen – Japanese business philosophy of constant improvement. Is it broken? No. Is it inefficient or pointless? Yes. So improve it.
You should get familiar with kaizen, as it’s what is currently running the world. (successful industries are successful because of kaizen) Many companies have gone out of business purely because they were too stubborn (or stupid) to change their ways and improve.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that you are also wrong about it being an advantage. It’s a convenience. Which is in NO WAY the same as an advantage in wvw. It doesn’t make you do more damage, it doesn’t make you harder to kill, it doesn’t let you fly or be invincible. It just picks up bags…
Now instead of thinking about pressing F, you can think about dodging that attack coming at your face.
(edited by WhiteAndMilky.2514)
Yup the way they molded (or didn’t mold) all the existing armor to fit (HAH!) the charr was very sloppy. There are loads of armors for charr in the light, medium, and heavy type that just got bent in all kinds of weird shapes.
The armors that genuinely seem to fit well on charr are the cultural ones, but even some of those parts look strange.
I hope anet goes through at some point and reshapes some of them as charr is my favorite race in GW2.
It sounds fantastic, I always enjoy these types of competitions as it allows players to feel like they contributed to the development of their game. God knows we need some new armor/weapon skins.
pvp inside a pvp jump puzzle?! say whaaaa?
+1 good idea. WvWers have to carry around a lot of useless junk loot all the time, and the only way to get bags for them is through PvE (fractals) or with a very large monetary investment.
Forgive me for speaking for everyone but I’m pretty sure everyone wants a mount.
You lost me right here. This game does not need, should not have, and most likely will not (ever) have mounts.
Maps are too small to warrant mounts. If we had no swiftness or high mobility moves…. then yes mounts count make sense. But GW2 is built for people being on-foot.
I do not approve of the idea of mounts in GW2, it doesn’t fit.
I have long wished that they would have a wvw map with a tower/keep/castle that was only seigeable via underwater siege (I thought of underwater rams, like subs, and underwater harpoon guns, like the current ballistas)
But we need Anet to refine its water combat system first. I think the first step in that is to create a secondary set of traits when you enter the water, similar to how your utility skills change when you enter the water. The water combat looks and feels great, it just has issues with balancing. I hope Anet doesn’t continue to ignore its water combat system in the future, it has a LOT of potential to be really fun and add a lot of depth and variety to the game.
They really should have more weapons to each class. That’s a fact. Currently there’s not enough diversity on most professions.
Add customizable weapon slots to weapons too (each weapons has maybe 10 skills to select from) and I’m sold.
As someone that plays all professions of all types of builds… I can honestly say there is only 1 class that NEEDS more weapons. And that is engineer. If they want to use shield or pistol offhand, you MUST use pistol mainhand, as there are no other mainhand weapons. So engi effectively gets to use 2 weapons, pistol and rifle, that’s it.
Someone will likely bring up weapon kits as a defense for this, but you also must realize that engi loses a utility slot when it wants to use a kit.
Warrior: Weapons are all solid pretty much. I’d like to see a polearm eventually.
Guardian: Plenty of amazing weapons.
Thief: Solid, amazingly diverse, doesn’t need more weapons and doesn’t deserve more.
Ranger: I think ranger deserves rifle, but does it need it? No.
Necro: An amazing set of weapons to use.
Mesmer: Plenty of great weapons, does not need more.
Elementalist: Can’t really comment on ele, I don’t play it much at all.
Would I like to see a greataxe for warrior and necro? Yup.
I saw someone mention hammer for engi, which would make sense.
To be completely honest, I am happy that they threw the free badges at PvE players. It means that when we’re playing wvw, we can look at a group of players and expect them to play better because they want to be there, not because they are farming badges for a carebear item.
Also, getting 500 badges of honor was never difficult, even when badges dropped less. Just zerg a few days and you’d have it in no-time. WvW players have TONS of badges laying around, and we spend them like crazy.
No thanks. I’d rather see professions using weapons that make sense for them. But I do think ranger should get to use Rifle….
