This is still happening. Through a bug, rangers are capable of making their pets run inside towers/keeps, up the stairs, and onto the walls to attack people on arrow carts etc. The doors and walls are fully intact, with no breach. Rangers used to do this with the skill “guard” but I had thought that was fixed.
Yeah I’ve been hit by skill lag, but this was different. All my skills were executing right when I pressed them, not with a delay. Also, I don’t think skill lag lets you capture points 2x faster than normally.
Also, I wasn’t taking any more damage from guards.
After the engagement is over, the server catches up, and when it does, it puts everything in a super high-speed mode where all durations are much shorter. This means that your buffs last less time, movement skills like a leap will be shorter, auto attacks will fire extremely quickly, etc.
Read my whole post before responding. And yes, it lets you capture things faster, because all durations are condensed, as I said…
Think of it like a clock. When skill lag happens the server slows down and the clock runs slowly. When the server catches up, the clock runs very fast until it’s back to normal.
It’s been happening since the beggining. It’s directly related to “skill lag”. When very large engagements happen, the server starts to slow down. All skills take longer to cast because their ACTUAL cooldown timer is extended much longer.
After the engagement is over, the server catches up, and when it does, it puts everything in a super high-speed mode where all durations are much shorter. This means that your buffs last less time, movement skills like a leap will be shorter, auto attacks will fire extremely quickly, etc. Also NPCs will attack very quickly and if you’re not careful, 1 or 2 guards can kill you extremely fast. Dolyaks will also out-run their bodies (run ahead of their graphic) and I think workers will work faster. Everything is affected by it.
Each mine from mine field strips boons and can have its explosion radius increased, this roughly translates to a potential of 30 boons stripped per 19 seconds without any gadget or toolbelt reductions. With expanded radius, and proper placement, this is an easy feat, just be aware of blindness. Typical strategy is shield or gear shield into enemy zerg, drop mines, dodge, and detonate mid-dodge to avoid being blinded. The closer they stack, the more you strip.
If you’re playing apo bomb heals and trying to do damage with your bomb 1 attack, you’re playing it wrong. If you need stability you can run elixir X, which can be very good if used properly. Also if you’re walking straight into the enemies initial stuns and aoe’s, you’re playing it wrong. Sidestep and walk through the side back to your team. If you get focused, elixir gun toolbelt has a stun breaker and then combo it with shield or gear shield. Fumigate alone allows you to give the most possible cleansing to your teammates if you fire it correctly.
If you use all skills when they are off cooldown, yeah, it will be bad. If you use your skills wisely you are capable of doing decent damage, high sustain, lots of team support and lots of debuffs for enemies. It can be very satisfying if you take the time to maximize your effectiveness. A typical non-crit no-power bomb hits for about 500 as well, which isn’t nothing. But with apo build, normal 1 skill bombs are more for when your team stacks for healing or are retreating. For damage you should be using your other bombs, pistol, nails, prybar, and then when not doing your damage skills you are using your debuffs or teamsupport skills.
Apo bomb heal builds are all about adapting to combat situations, since you have more than 1 role to perform.
I am mostly running as an apothecary engi these days. I don’t use toolkit I use rocket boots instead. F skill on Healing turret and rocket boots is <3.
currently have perplexity runes for some damage. Also I take protection injection and vigorous speed in the alchemy tree instead of backpack regen.
Condition stacking sigil.
My build with explanation if interested
I don’t recommend this for zergs. In fact I don’t think Engis are good in zergs because the fun of being an engi is the kit switching and comboing skills. In zergs you just need to know where your “1” button is since you will likely encounter skill lag. Better off as a guard or a warrior there.
I morally decline to use perplexity runes, as they are broken. I still believe they need to be nerfed and I hope that they will be. I run rune of traveler instead, which allows me to avoid a number of wasted trait points simply for perma swiftness, and I can run healing turret for team play. I build tankier and with more support that way. I run 40% condi duration reduce combo’d with transmute minor. This makes you incredibly tanky and keeps conditions off you.
Saying bomb heal builds are not good for zergs is false. I have been incredibly effective with this apothecary bomb heal build I am currently using. Rocket boots is nice but it promotes sloppy play, as you have an easy escape, and don’t need to try as hard. Toolkit offers much more versatility, team play, and sustain if played with properly. Like chain magnet pulls on enemy commanders when they have lost stability. A commander kill at the right moment can disrupt enemy movements severely and give you a window of opportunity to close out a battle. Toolkit auto attack does cleaving vulnerability. Box of nails is also a fantastic way of slowing a large number of enemies, plus it has a short cooldown and does some minor damage. Gear shield is an easy survive/engage, also on a relatively short cooldown. Throw wrench is a combo projectile finisher both directions, so when combo’d with something like smoke bomb it’s devastating to enemy groups.
If you think engi is ineffective for zergs then you are not experienced enough with it. Are you aware that engineer has the highest boon stripping potential of any class? It can be one of the tankiest, with the most disrupts, CC, and movement, healing, and dps debuffs. Engi allows for lots of team support even with just 1 skill like fumigate. Coordinated large combat is amazingly effective. If you think it’s about knowing where your 1 skill is, then obviously you haven’t been doing this for very long. Skill lag is really only present when all 3 map zergs engage in combat together, like stonemist.
All I was asking about was whether to run healing or condi stacking. But I looked over the ratios for the healing skills, evaluated my current tankyness, and decided on condition stacking.
I’m conflicted about whether to run heal stacking or condition stacking sigils on my bunker wvw bomb heals build. Healing turret, bomb kit, elixir gun, tool kit, pistol/shield. Full apothecary armor and trinkets, backpack regenerator. zerg / roam. Already at about 1300 healing no buffs, over 700 condition damage no buffs.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: Going with condi stacking

Still extremely disappointed with anet on this. Not even an apology.
In SAB all character deaths are counting towards your characters overall death count. I assume this isn’t intentional.

No it’s not pay to win. It’s pure convenience. It doesn’t give you more HP, it doesn’t give you harder hitting weapons, it doesn’t make you run faster. It simply reduces the amount of time you would need to spend farming.
Also for someone like me, it makes SAB fun to play with friends, as opposed to incredibly annoying.
Advised my friends and family Guild mates I may quit the game over this. They all said Great, we only still play GW2 cause you do.
Since the few that still play (5 of 14) have all just been coasting along none of them were really hit by this rip-off. All the prior fumbles by Anet, and the complete (words fail me) towards small guilds that can’t or won’t grind 24/7 to get guild upgrades had already run them off for the most part. The plethora of anti role play content, like the SAB, also destroyed the 3rd wall for them. Not sure if I’ll even play tonight, having just really realized the extent of the Karma acquisition nerf. A guildie mentioned it when complaining about the absence of all exotic trinkets and spineguards in orrian temples. Just a really sad situation.
So much potential in gw2 being completely wasted. Simply because of an accumulation of a few issues like this one. It just goes to show how little interest they have in continuing the game in the future.
I got DC’d from my 3 man party. Everytime I try to rejoin their instance, it sends me back out to the starter cloud area. Massive bug.
But I found it odd that as I was complaining to my friend earlier, on my end the items are shown as soul bound and other characters cannot equip them, but when I ping them in chat it only shows an account bound item… so figure that one out.
I believe when you “ping” something it doesn’t show your actual item, it shows default value of the item, f.e. it doesn’t show infusions on ascended rings, so index database probably just doesn’t hold “soulbound” image of your item, or rather doesn’t distinguish between those two, if that makes sense and default value of it as of now is account bound, so it shows that instead,
Yeah I think this is true.
damage redcution on stun is useless too. If you get 2 w or guardian on you it doesnt matter what u do = 100% death we have 0 ways to counter good timed CC. Even on tanky pants build hp melts like snow in sunlight and ofcourse 0 stability makes the things even more great for us. Engineer is in deep kitten. Anyone else thinks different is guardian.
Elixir gun toolbelt has a stun breaker. No issue dealing with stun oriented builds. With melandru runes, a stun breaker, and gear shield, you can ruin peoples combos pretty quick. Big ole bomb is also great to disrupt stun builds as is smoke bomb. You have stability on elixir X if you need it, but with melandru, 20% reduced while stunned, protection when cc’d, condi reduction food, and transmute minor trait, you can move around just fine. and you mitigate 53% of damage done to you while cc’d. You also have gear shield, static shield, and magnetic shield. This isn’t even mentioning the healing and regen you are doing… Combo that with acid bomb, glue bomb, box of nails, and you’ve got a good escape.
0 ways to counter well timed CC? Not only is that incorrect, but you can always dodge roll….. sigil of energy for an extra evade every 10 seconds. Stamina to snowball. People are creatures of habit, and are quite predictable once you know what build they are running, often you can figure it out before they even make contact with you.
I think differently, and I haven’t played guardian in wvw in over 6 months, it’s too boring.
Not only did I lose an entire set or armor, but the set I’d like to convert for another character is going to cost me near 100g. So because of this one little detail Anet forgot about, I’m essentially losing about 130g or so.
Yes, it may as well been a misunderstanding, but a misunderstanding on their end, not ours…
^
They gave me a copy paste response again when I replied to the original ticket.
First response:
“I understand that you just changed the stats on several items as prompted, and they remained soulbound. Please understand that this is the intended mechanic – items that were soulbound prior to the update are meant to remain soulbound, as items that are account bound will remain account bound. I apologize for the misunderstanding that our patch notes may have caused, but we will not be performing changes to the binding features of these items.”
Second Response:
“As stated before this is the intended mechanic – items that were soulbound prior to the update are meant to remain soulbound, as items that are account bound will remain account bound. I apologize for the misunderstanding that our patch notes may have caused, but we will not be performing changes to the binding features of these items.”
I’d like to speak to a person, not a robot.
So long as there are 2 people to post in it, it won’t die. I am 1 person.
Yep, I think I’m done. I thought Anet actually back up their word on this, I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on the cash store and defended other things they have done, but I’m not paying for this. I’m not saying I’m quitting GW2, but they have to earn my trust back till I start being a paying customer again.
I’m in the same boat.
You want them to fix the durations on a rune set that is already game-breaking? lol!
this really should be sorted out maybe just make all soulbound items, account bound like origonaly said and leave it at that.
Yup, but they are too lazy and care too little to stick to their own words.
ArenaNet staff seems to forget that although it is a free to play game, you’re supposed to treat everyone like a paying customer. Instead we get treated like small children constantly. If they want any more of my money in the gemshop, maybe they should start treating me like the paying customer that I am.
And no, my items are still blank Anet, I did NOT “change the stats on several items as prompted”
I will be refraining from anymore cash shop purchases, that is for sure. I have always been overly critical of GW2, because I’ve always thought of it as a rough gem that if polished, could really stand the test of time…. but ArenaNet just lost my faith completely.
I’ll make sure to bring my decoder ring the next time I read upcoming patch information.

You bought a delicious chocolate cupcake. Then the baker tells you “Oh hold on, we’re discontinuing that flavor, I’ll get you another flavor instead” He takes your cupcake, then comes back in a few minutes and throws a half-eaten vanilla cupcake at your head. “Enjoy” he says.
Big slap in the face from Anet team. Thanks.
A complete set of armor, weapons, and trinkets, flushed down the toilet. Thanks anet.
Very disappointed and angry customer here, off to sleep. I’ll keep my dollar bills in my pocket instead of the cashshop until this is fixed. I’m not willing to support these sloppy patch implementations.
Dear Anet,
Since you messed up BIG TIME, just send me a complete set of apothecary medium armor, trinkets, pistol and a shield. I’ll forget about the runes for now.
Thanks.
-Milky
Wow, thanks for the warning! Hope they fix this for you soon. Here’s a bump.
Yup they messed up BIG TIME. Post about it here
let’s make one big thread.
We would like a response as to what Anet is going to do to fix this. Please.
Yup and they messed up wayfarer’s too. I posted about it here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Wayfarer-s-items-missing-stat-combinations/first#post2766139
Wayfarer items only have a few options:
Berserker
Carrion
Cleric
Dire
Rampager
ShamanYet the explorer armor and weapons that had MF got the options of:
Apothecary
Asassin
Berserker
Carrion
Cleric
Knight
Rampager
ValkyrieOld wayfarer items are missing apothecary, assassin, knight, and valkyrie stat options
Old explorer items don’t have the option of shaman and dire stats.
Most likely they are not. As you wouldn’t be crafting a level 80 ascended item on a level 51.
These ascended weapons are ArenaNets idea of end-game content. Most likely intended for you to not get them on a low level.

Berserker
Carrion
Cleric
Dire

Just be happy that they are aware and are making sure this will never happen again
This is the 3rd time I remember of it happening. It may even be the fourth. But the other times people got extra laurels. There are no extra laurels to be had with this one.
Each time it happens they say it won’t happen again.
Yup, this is very unfair. ArenaNet said they would become account bound, and they didn’t.
John Smith: “Weapons, armor and trinkets with magic find will become account bound, lose their current stats and will gain the ability to be double-clicked to select one of several stat options depending on the item.”

You told us it was going to work like this. Now you have a lot of players that got the short end of the stick because of your communication errors. You have one VERY angry paying customer right here. Fix it now please.
Alright Anet, time to move BG to T2 and move TC to T1. Maybe then SoR and JQ’s massive zergs could be busted by an even larger zerg.

No thanks. As a WvW and PvP player, I already have to keep tabs on what every animation means and how to adapt to them. They allow me to read peoples builds, skills, cooldowns, possible combos, playstyle, etc etc etc. More animations would just mean unnecessary annoyance for those of us who fight other players and not PvE mobs.
Maybe they could be limited to PvE only.
Or there would just be an option to turn off these effects.
yup that would work too!

I object to this, because it would effect my WvW experience inversely to what you describe. Everyone is always in combat stance in WvW, which is what they created those models for in the first place. So I don’t want to see an angry mob running at me with no weapons out.
The solution? I don’t have on for you. But your suggestion would impact my gameplay in the same way it’s impacting yours right now.
What happens when I get invited to join a group that doesn’t conform to the standards I set forth in my lfg? What if I request an experienced group, because I am an experienced player, and then get a group of newbies? I should be punished for that?
Not objecting to your idea, just putting things forth that should be considered.
I don’t know why this hasn’t been adapted yet. This is how every other free to play game operates.
The idea is simple, the more gems you buy… you get a few extra gems. Not much, just a little. Or it could also work such that the more gems you buy, the more discount you get on your $.
This would actually generate more money for the gemstore and I will explain why:
1. People buy more gems than they actually need. More $$$ for gemshop.
2. People have an excess of gems, so they spend them on things that they normally wouldn’t buy, because the gems are there already, and it’s super easy, just 2 clicks and you have an item.
3. People then run out of gems and when new items come out in the shop, the cycle repeats.
Currently the gemshop is operating off a system of “Oh exactly how many gems do I need right NOW?” with no concern for future purchases, and no impulse buys.
Don’t you want the gemshop to make more money Anet?…
+1
I’d probably end up buying all the skin sets if this was ever changed. Should do the same thing with infinite gathering tools (just “withdraw” them on any character whenever you want)/misc other items as well.
I would pay more for an infinite gathering tool I can use on any character.
Yeah this’d be nice but I doubt they’d do it, that means they dont get as much money in the long run.
I disagree, I think they would get more money in the long run. People who buy multiples of the same skin set are rare, which means little money from re-purchases. Yet there are many players out there who are collectors, and would be more than happy to buy up all the gemstore skins if they were a permanent unlocks, which means lots more cash through the shop. Which in turn ups the value of gems, and then people buy gems and convert them to gold. It circles on itself.
80+ three merged SoR zergs at Woodhaven right now……do NOT EVER talk about Blackgate blobbing again, SoR, kkthx. =.=
Glad I’m not there right now, LOL!
But seriously, BG blobbed so hard earlier today. :p
Well, you’re kind of stating the obvious. We all blob at varying points throughout a day. It’s like saying “omg my banana was so yellow today”.
You can actively NOT blob, though.
And bananas start out green…
Some bananas are brown.
“omg my banana was so yellow today”.

Droppin bombs on SoR, BUCCANEER STYLE!
(edited by WhiteAndMilky.2514)
Yup, they do that all the time. It’s SoR standard practice these days.
I wish our rifle was a RIFLE not a pseudo shotgun. just doesn’t feel right running up to a mob point blank with a sniper rifle
I wish our rifle was actually a full-blown shotgun and that all skills scaled up in close range. I don’t want my engi to be a warrior.
You get a bag if there was going to be loot. If not, then no bag. Just like it is with killing anything. If anything you should be happy. He now has to pay a waypoint fee in addition to an armor repair cost. You made them so mad to be beaten that they shut off their game, it’s the ultimate win.
It’s not an exploit in any way, it used to be. Until they patched it like…. 8 months ago?
