If you read other comments you would see that I literally gave this as just a reference point to say I had a background in this field and that is where my opinion comes from. I never once said I was better than anyone else. You are just assuming that. Again I don’t feel the need to divulge my personal information, specifically because I don’t think it makes me better than anyone else. I just used this to give context to my point of view.

One of the best ways to deal with things is to not let those who do things like that have control over your life. if you want to give that suicidal co pilot some form of control over your life, that is fine, your life, your decision, but if we are going to stop having fun and enjoyment every time something awful happens in the world there would never be another moment of happiness.

If you truly had a some form of epileptic seizures due to game flickering and such you would be well familiar with checking video settings to turn them off, which you can easily do to turn off the sepia tones and old style movie film grain look.

If they do have a medical condition then indeed they should see a doctor. That said I have yet to hear of a condition where viewing an in game character with their arms out making air plane noises causes medical distress. Like I said, hyperbole and the use of such does not help the person’s complaint.

The flickering effect they are using to mimmick old movies was well known for causing headaches when it was common, decades ago. Learning a bit of History is a good thing, especially when trying to mock other people’s opinions.

Now I speak on the behalf of the very few on this game, the little group of which is simply silent in the corner and gets what they can simply scramble for: The Gw2 RPers.
Time after time we’re not just neglected but we’re also ‘harmed’ in the sense we can not play the game as we so desire to. First of there is no server that is specific for “RP”, such as many other games have, this might be to the reason in WvW that server would have trouble which is understandable, yet the community has deemed two servers if you wish to RP to be suitable for this. EU has Piken Square and US has Tarnished Coast.

Last years bobble heads was bad enough, sure it was funny! But it was funny for five minutes and this lasted for how long? A week? The same goes for this years “Airplane fight”, funny! Then you run around abit, listen to the ‘sound effects’ you hear as you run and jump… Then comes the “Can I turn this off now?” And this is not just me and the small group of friends I’ve already spoken to and claimed “This is stupid now…”

I just deleted WoW last night and to be frank? I am near re-downloading it just for a week untill this passes because my screen on Gw2 atm is just not nice to look at. Which is really really bad, concidering how GW2 has simply grown, silly things like this? WoW tried it, and I know alot of people returning to GW2 after the “Selfie cam” of which had a filter like my screen has now! xD Not trying to draw a line between these two but… Most RPG players can find enjoyment in a joke, just allow us to turn this joke off and join the laugh with the rest of you pranksters!

The repeatable ones (jumping puzzle included) do not count towards the meta. You MUST do the bugged content to get the title and meta.

You don’t even have to do the repeatable ones. I got the meta and didn’t do anything but the 50 waves of toypacolypse and none of the repeatable ones.

And the 50 waves was even possible before the fix came in that fixed the map not closing.

Yeah this is a serious issue. These maps are not closing when the game finishes. You combine this with the not letting people join as groups and what we end up with is maps that are already under attack and failing because of people entering and leaving trying to get into a map with friends or standing around waiting for forever to make it to the next game.

While I really enjoy the explorer outfit, I have to say, I wish the female version had incorporated the cargo shorts for a more Lara Croft look to it.

And while I appreciate the fact of you bringing outfits being able to be worn while in combat, I really wish you would tweak the system to allow a mix and match. It would really be nice to choose like the sunglasses to be able to wear with these outfits. In GW1 we could choose different costume hats than the costume body we wore, or we could even hide just the hat so that the armor headpiece would show with the costume body. Allowing a mix and match would really make the outfit system so much better, at least in my opinion.

I play charr because of the horns, fangs, claws and tail. If I wanted to be barbie, I’d play my mesmer. I hope the lack of charr tail is a bug, especially after the nice treatment of our fifth appendage in the ancestral outfit.

Because this outfit is directly from the GW1 costume because people requested it. In GW1 only humans were a playable race and changing the outfit to a great degree makes it a totally different outfit.

Let me expand on that opinion. I do not think that “sexy” female armor needs to be completely removed. However, it cannot be denied that females get almost all the sex gear, in almost all games, while the males are fully covered and/or unsexualized. This sends the message that men should be taken seriously, while women are no more than sex objects to arouse male players. It also sends the message that female players are not important, and not as worthy of consideration. How do we fix this? Simple. By making the armors gender equal. Modest man=Modest woman. “Sexy” woman=“Sexy man”

This isn’t just a problem in games. Media everywhere strips women down to near nudity. While there is nothing wrong with nudity in itself, there IS a problem with likening a living, feeling group of people to objects. Doing so affects the group in very negative ways. For example, little girls are engaging in increasingly risky behavior, and are more prone to developing eating disorders, because they are taught that, to be valuable, they must “be sexy”

For one, you can’t compare GW2 to all games. For one thing, there is “sexualized” male gear, for as much as there can be sexualized male gear. But it also comes down to the fact that GW2 gives players a choice. You can have fully covered head to toe gear or some sexy gear and not compromise on stats. Now with other games people said “give me a choice” yet when Anet came along and gave players choice these same people then started “you have to take it all away because I don’t want to see it at all”. They ended up changing the Orrian heavy armor top that you received from Arah tokens because of that type of complaining though no one was ever “forced” to wear it.

You can say all you want about equal armor, but that is ALREADY IN GW2. We aren’t even talking armor anyway, we are talking about COSTUMES. If you do not like it, do not buy it. It has zero stats, it is merely cosmetic. I like the fact that I am a woman and I don’t have to dress in men’s clothing. I like Kristen Perry’s design (Oh that’s right, GW2’s armor and clothing designer is a woman).

And yes, you are judgmental and are trying to be controlling because you are complaining when there is already the choices in game that you claim you would be happy with yet clearly are not happy.

While i get that the wings may not have been included due to conflicting with back braces. I’d like to suggest maybe making the raven wings into a separate back brace itself.

The reason i feel angry about this set is not because it is sexy, because the male part is also walking around bare chested , but the fact that the legs, which are the selling point of this outfit to me, are off-limits to female characters. I have no problem with you liking the legs, but i feel that we already have enough outfits showing that sexy pixel leg, i want those faun hooves. Plus in this outfit it is the fact that they bothered to add new bones to the skeleton, that they made custom animations for it, but only when you are male, when you are female humanoid you get badly modeled stilettos with a hoof stuck on front.
and it happens all the time, sometimes even making armors that don’t even resemble eachother and giving them the same name, like the phalanx armor. Meanwhile male outfits tend to be the most drab and boring things you have seen and must be as covering as possible (aside from heavy). It isn’t about being sexy, it’s about the fact that men can’t be and women have to be.

This is based directly on the GW1 costume which people have requested to be put into GW2. I’m sorry if you don’t like it, but we all can’t get what we want. I want Cynn’s GW1 armor in the game. I want all the named armor sets that bear names from GW1 characters (such as Devona’s, Mhenlo’s, Tahlkora’s, etc) to look like the armor sets the characters in GW1 actually wore, but I’m not going to act like a whiny brat about it.

Despite the skimpiness not usually being to my taste, I actually used to like this outfit, when it was first released in GW1. Back then it had large raven wings and you could switch the silly hood for other head gears, like the fantastic GW1 “Demonic Horns”.

I disagree with the skimpy portion of your comment. Cleavage showing does not equate to skimpy. It would be more sexy than skimpy.

I do however agree with the changing of the headpiece. That was a step backward when they implemented the skinning/outfit changes. They could easily allow a switch between the headpiece worn with outfits.

The link they gave you outlines the whole thing. It clearly states on the site that if you purchase the game in game via a trial account:

“Using the “Upgrade to Full Account” option in-game allows you to purchase the Guild Wars 2 Digital (Standard) Edition code only. You may purchase an upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition through the Black Lion Trading Company.”

If your friend wants the Deluxe Edition they can either purchase the Deluxe Edition directly from the website and add the SC to their Trial account or purchase the standard edition in game and then upgrade through the BLTC. Those are the two options

Which still does not answer the primary question. If they buy the Digital Deluxe from the web site, which we already know, and they use the Link Account link that is on that page, can they then still link their GW1 account to the new GW2 account or is this a one time use thing of the Link Account.

Someone who has some knowledge of this, not just guessing, should be able to help me.

We are just wanting to make sure that she can get the DD with the code through the Link Account link and still use it after buying it to link the GW1 account or if this is a one shot thing. None of the web pages make it clear and for some reason the Upgrade Account link in game only leads to the Standard version, it doesn’t give a choice.

A friend of mine has been on the free trial and wants to purchase the full game. However, she wants to buy the Digital Deluxe version and when she clicks Upgrade to a full account in game, it gives her the option to buy the standard game only. If she buys the Digital Deluxe from the web site, will this just give her a code where she can click Redeem Code in game and upgrade the trial account to a Digital Deluxe and still be able to link her GW1 account?

I know on this web page https://register.guildwars2.com/ she can click Link Account to do the upgrade, but need to know if she will still be able to go back to it to link her GW1 account, or if she will lose the ability.

I don’t know who told you that, but it’s incorrect. Many people would not be able to use their old GW Account Names as those email addresses either didn’t/don’t exist anymore, or were those with @NCSoft appendages.

Your friend can create an account with a different email address and link the two games at another time.

Your friend can create a Trial Account with a different email than the one she uses for GW. If she/he decides to purchase the game, she/he can link the two accounts at that time and both games will use the same email address as Account Name.

But the account name will be the display name she would create on the registration page. When I bought GW2 and participated in the beta, they told us to be careful not to use different email addresses, to use our GW1 account info, because that is what made the accounts linkable.

I have a friend who owns GW1 and wants to do t he GW2 trial this weekend. When she tries to register through the links on the home page it says she already has an account (she uses her GW1 email address). She can log in to the Guild Wars 2 web site and go to My Account, however, when she tries to download the client, it won’t download for her.

She wants to use the same email address in case she buy GW2 so she can link her GW1 and GW2 accounts. Can I download the GW2setup file and send it to her and it work that way, or is there something she needs to do special?

UPDATE:
I went ahead and downloaded the GW2setup.exe file and sent it to her and it is downloading the game file, but when she tries to log in, it tells her she needs a code to log in. Now, the web site had told her as a GW1 player she could do the trial through the Download Client on the GW2 My Account and it would have her sign up after she clicks the Download Client link, however, after she clicks that link, it says Not Available for her.

Working again for me as well. Would be nice for Anet to make a post to let us know why this happened. Since not everyone experienced this problem, it could have been something we did or may have been able to fix earlier ourselves. Some info would be wonderful.

I’m getting the same error. It happened to me when I first came to the site today, it looked normal. I clicked the link to the Overwolf announcement page, I got a Quaggan 404 page and ever since then the front page and a few others, not the entire site, looks like that.

A couple google searches and it’s easy to find out who this kid is. He’s already had his info posted by other hackers . I won’t post any specifics but I don’t think it will be too hard for authorities to find this kid.

If he is the one truly behind this. Personally I have my doubts because this is truly a massive attack because it’s not just Wildstar and GW2 being affected.

Now that being said, it is quite possible this kid has a relationship of some sort with the group who is doing this and they could be using him as a mouthpiece.

Anet has been blaming players individually for the disconnects, sending ever so more invasive tests to players, not telling them PUPs are in those – and even when one tells Anet’s rep that one is a computer person – one is still ignored.

The net is under attack – gamers are being told they are not important, Pandora is having trouble connecting – Netflix is losing connection and EVERY SINGLE NEWSPAPER website is having issues displaying or using social media.

Anet better get into the war on the net soon. We all lose if the not only the hackers hit us but those who think they OWN the net hit us as well.

Phantasy Star Online 2 got DDOS’d late last month and it was down for about 2 weeks straight, and they’re still having issues. This is getting ridiculous.

If the “correct” size pipe is open to Anet’s servers and there is no spike in traffic other than this game – there would be no issues, but the net is under attack and gaming companies are not comprehending it’s their responsiblity to ensure a viable net.

Civilians can’t do a thing – only those in the “industry” have any voice in the internet any longer.

Ok, let’s say Anet and NCSoft get bigger “pipes” from their ISP. If the DDoS targets Cogent or Level 3 at a particular switch or router then Anet’s pipe size won’t matter one bit.

This whole argument of Anet not having big enough pipes and that will solve the problem is way to simplistic and fails to really take into account the problem.

Someone taking credit isn’t really confirmation. It could be someone just taking credit for something he isn’t doing. That said, it’s possible he, or someone else, is doing a DDoS attack. It could also be bad routing by Level 3.

That’s not providing confirmation that he’s doing it, but it definitely provides confirmation that it’s happening.

Would be nice though to have Anet confirm that the attack on Wildstar is affecting GW2 as well. I mean, it makes sense cause they are both NCSoft titles and I believe the servers are in the same location, but still would be good for them to officially address the situation.

It’s even hard to get Guildwiki or The forums to come up. All my other website connections are fine.

Whatever this is a patch would do no good because it’s not an issue with the game client or the servers. This is either a DDoS attack or Level3 routing traffic badly, neither which a patch can fix.

Right and the characters are still getting the stat benefit of those back pieces so I’m not sure what your gripe is.

Yes, someone could use the skin of a fractal piece to cover a yellow back item, but guess what, that could be done before anyway.

Sorry, but I have a tough time believing you played through fractals a lot to get just the skin for your alts, that you don’t care about the stats involved.

Fractal backs x4. It was a lot of grind and money. Now anyone with 1 back can have the skin across all their characters. I’m having fun looking at my “dual” wielding legendaries but at the same time can’t seem to stop thinking about all those who grinded for their gear only now left to wonder who really did and didn’t do what. Mixed emotions.

The skin may be unlocked account wide, but stats aren’t. Are you saying you’re characters aren’t benefiting from the stats that the fractal back pieces give?
