Anet, this one is actually the first fight in the game that requires something else then auto attack on a safe spot and go afk.

And it does not seem that kittence you understand the mechanics. But it will take some time until people know what to do.

Glass cannos in the front are useless here, they are constantly in downstate as they do not have enough toughness and regeneration. They are better off defending the cannons while ranged builds with a decent amout of toughness/regenerations stay at the front. They have enough room to move/jump over waves while keeping constant dps.

So the tactics is obviously. But will our melee zerkers understand it or will the rage on the forums? We’ll find out.

Great the the overflow event system you tested with Scarlet will beomce more mainstream.

Now just put in notifications (can be disabled) for any world events in general and we do not have to check timer pages if a dragon is up or when.

Guys, it’s obviously bugged. Get over it.

We will see a fix with the Tequatl Patch or never. Probably never if Josh decided to take a fews days off after putting in tons of hours for the SAB W2 to get released and then hotfixed. He probably has to compensate a lot of overtime anyway.

Josh obviously got some problems after talking too openly so probably he decided to get his forum posting privileges removed or they removed it for him for the time being.

I loved the open communication style but now we are back to normal procedure: Do not talk about any bugs, never admit it is a bug. Only list issues in the patch notes that got public attention (these are industry standards…)

Communication and support policy at Anet is back to the sub par standards we all know and hate.

We saw a glimpse of what could be possible. But that’s not the corporate governance we are dealing here with.

Josh, if you read this: I am not a SAB fan, but man you are awesome! Any company I know would hire someone so passionate about his work in the blink of an eye. Keep up the great work, we players appreciate guys like you! You are what keeps us playing the game not the managers and their strategies and policies.

Getting the minis is easily. Run W1 once day, grab some digging spots and secret rooms as well and you have the 20 bauble bubbles by the end of the months even if you play not much.

Yeah, a change is needed. I guess were will see the following:

- All normal chests will become lootable once a day.

- JP chest will drop 8-10 shards and the difficult ones the same as dungeons (e.g. Obsidian Sanctum)

- Open world chests stay at 3-4 shards as their is nothing special involved here beside killing a few mobs or a champ you can easily kite away long enough too loot the chest.

Basically a new loot tables for the JP chests need to be added. Should not be biggie, just same as before just increased number of shards and maybe more silver. And the blue/green crap for the daily chests should be replaced by essence of luck right away.

So people like to jump but don’t like Fractals and dungeons can get their shards as well at the same rate. And the rest can just grab the open world chests. As their are tons of them no need to increase the drop rate (it should be a reward).

This also solves the problem of people doing the chests multiple times a day with alts by parking them there.

Something along these lines should keep everyone happy and I am sure we will see that kind of change in the future.

Did not really like the SAB. Just completed World 1 once in April. Just tried World 2.

Nah, this is designed by the guys who brought us Liadri I guess…

No fun at all. Sure, something for the hardcore jumpers maybe? But with GW2’s camera most JPs are no fun anyway.

Maybe I do the W1 achievements now, but probably stay away from W2.

What I now wonder is how W3 and W4 will be. Raising the difficulty even more? Before someone complains: NOT calling for a nerf.

This one is not up to W1 regarding fun. It was designed to sell infinite continue coins obviously.

The stuff is time gated, you do not need much ectos right away. And supply is less as people not doing the usual events anymore. And people fear of missing out (the train for making gold with ectos left about three weeks ago) driving the prices higher.

Only thing you need to do for your ascended is to do one or two world bosses, salavage the rares and you get your ectos. Dust? Salvage ectos. So no biggie. You need about two weeks to create an ascended weapon, so no rush. Get your two daily ectos and that’s it.

Additional ascended mats can be created from lower tier materials or famed in WvW, dungeons, bosses and temples.

They will re-do the world bosses next, starting with Tequatl in 14 days.

Don’t hold your breath for an expansion. It will come when GW2 daily login numbers are getting lower and lower and the game needs a boost to bring former players back. I doubt this will happen within the next 12-18 months.

It’s called a GEAR box. Guess what no new mats in it.

The new ascended mats will come from WvW towers/keeps, Temples and dungeons (probably bosses as well). Basically everything that is played less since the champ loot bags becaus the loot is subpar.

In addition lower tier matierals can be trasmuted into higher ones (similar how you can transmute Mithril to Orichalcum). Also obsidian shards and ectos can be used to create the new materials, which is the time gating component. And to round it up the ascended inscriptions are bought by using karma.

It’s RNG as always with GW2.

When Twisted Nightmare spawn they can just be normal ones, veterans or champs. Sometimes there is a champ right away from the start.

The possibility for a minion champ spawning just increases the more people are near the event. Finishing or not finishing minions has no impact on the probabilty of minion champ spawning.

The more people the more likely a minion champ will spawn. That’s all.

Face it, GW2 is a farm game.

Flipping still works fine. It just requires a bit more effort. But it is still very profitable. But you have to get into the market with much more gold to make some decent profit these days,

Money from crafting? Not really. You an make something out of receipts for which you buy ingeredients with karma. But it requires a lot of time to make money here. It’s more for making gold of out karma (more profitable than orrian boxes) – but it takes forever to get a substantial amout of gold this way.

In the end farming became the most viable way of earning. And that’s the name of the game at the moment – > farm champs.

All servers have the same map. Guesting does not help, but they random shifts. Meaning if you play in the afteroon each day you will see other maps. The RNG table shifts every day a bit.

Anyone know where to get this? It’s account bound so I’m assuming it’s either from a forge, reward or the store but I don’t see any mention of it in the patch notes.

You get some kind of code card at a meet & greet event at Gamescon 2013 in Cologne, Germany.

Now the kicker: I am near Cologne, Germany but I had no time to go on a real life quest for a mini. Don’t know if they are still handing these cards out over the weekend.

They probably hand out more of these cards at other events. If you are not there, they probably show up on ebay as well.

Basically I cannot complete my Mini collection anymore. OK, moving on…

When you get a disconnect in the middle of an event it does not count for the achievement.

Obviously the achievement cannot be successful if you leave the map at all. So do the maps again when they show up on which you got dced.

Better big zergs and tons of farm evens on a large mal than more gauntlet/pavillion style events (even though I like the idea very much) that just bring out the technical shortcomings of GW2 itself.

But in fact the scaling is now better balanced. Champs don’t show up too quickly but still come when you have enough mass like before. Better than before, more balanced. Farming will go on as before even with this adjustment.

Kill minions as quickly as possible to get to the next phase, kill molten champs, farm pirates until event is over. That’s going to happen until this living story is over.

Champ loot in general will end up being time gated as always… Frostgorge Champ Train will not last forever. But probably will be this way for couple of more months.

The problem in general is that GW2 became a casual farming game. That’s all.

But the player majority seems to want it that way. Anet for sure checks the metrics on logins/playing time and what people did to decide for future content. The more a style of content is popular the more likely they will continue down the road. And nothing is easier just to spawn tons of mobs with better loot. Cheap, quick and obviously very popular.

Zones seem to be random order, after 12h there seem no repetition anymore. Before that especially Frostgorge Sound and Blazeridge Steppes come very often.

Stuck at 12/13 missing Timberline Falls. Sooner or later it will happen when I am online…

You people don’t get it with your spread out farmers your hurting yourself nonsense…. As long as Captains alive and you keep killing his champs, not him, he spawns more champs in, so no you don’t jump from event to event as quick as you can.

Once people figure this out, you’ll see half of the map camped at one event point. Plus this scaled the captains health so doesn’t get killed by noob fire.

Don’t think you people really understand how many bags were talking about here……

Usually something about 10 bags per event is the average, depends. Usually I come out with abou 50 bags out of an invasion event – and I am not event trying to farm. Just everywhere champs.

And the Captain does not spawn champs. They spawn on their own up to their cap. Unless of course it is bugged on your server. Saw him often alone last man standing with couple of minutes of the clock. Nothing more coming. Also no new pirate spots if old ones are still taken.

Anyway, happing farming…

You guys just don’t get it, do you?

The more people are in an event the more it scales so much more loot for everyone and with the last update (special loot on champ kill) this make zerging much more profitable.

Actually not, once the champ level is reached (which goes quickly) the HP just keep to scale, so it takes longer for an event to finish and you will have less events (portals close based on initial HP kills) and that means less loot over the whole invasion.

This has always been this way. Once the highest mob level is reached, HP begin to grow so it takes longer and everyone can get a hit. But that does not produce more loot.

One champ worth 100K HP will drop one champ bag. Two champs with 50K drop two.

And we are not dealing with a single event here, we have a lot of events. So it is profitable to do as much of them as possible as quick as possible.

But that requires some organization to distribute people. Usually a ton of commands helps a lot here. Better fi they are experienced and actually say where people are needed to get champs.

But posting “champ here” and everyone runs to it, will make the event fail because it takes too long to clear an event and in the end there will be less champs overalls (portals are closing on eliminated HP on the initial death of a mob – revived minions do not count again).

The OP complains about people continue to farm pirates because of an “imbalance” that they spawn more champs. And they even do pirate events even if no more pirates need to be killed.

The pirates spawning too much champs will probably be fixed in the coming days.

Reason here is that most pirates start already at veteran level . Because of this they upgrade the level easier when more people come. Instead of three tiers normal -> veteran -> champs (plus hardcoded and random champs) the pirates go directly from veteran to champ instead of vetaran -> stay veteran -> become champ.

Basically scaling for pirates is bugged.

The pirates are just intended to be harder – not better loot by going to champs right away when more than X people are there. It should be same for minions as for pirates.

This is basically the same bug as in the farm pavillion when the centaurs spawned too much champs because they started also with veterans.

We can assume that Anet did a copy and paset job on the scripts here. Same bug, different event.

But if you do you distribute nicely you will get more loot as you will be on more events with more champs naturally as you do more events because the HP do not scale that much. The numbe of champs seems still to be capped per event.

So bigger zerg does not mean more champs. The champs just get more HP and it takes longer to kill them with the same loot. The event is time scaled on HP as it looks.

Just a smaller zerg is enough to get an event to champ level. Kill, loot, move on.

So the farmers are just hurting themselves by getting less loot and denying other a lot of champ bags because they run with farm commanders not understanding the scaling mechanics involved here and think more people will produce more champs over the whole invasion on a per event. This is not correct.

When I played the first day without the farmers we had champs everywhere because of distribution (we ran with about 5+ experienced WvW commanders) and came out with about 50-60% more champ bags (unless Anet silently nerfed minion events).

But hey the “pro farmers” always know it better, right? That’s probably why they still need to farm so much. xD

So, still waiting for the 13th map to finnaly show up (should be Timberline Falls) so I am done with the farmzerg-fest.

But in general the pure PvE commanders are the worst. Event fails, does not properly scale to champ level and people are dying because wrong mobs are attacked first. Even the farmers can do better than these guys.

Work fine. Just do 5 minion events within 15 minutes.

You do not have to do the whole event as always, you will get credit after a certain amount of damage. You can walk away let’s say after 50% to the next one and still get credit. Like always.

Got it on the first invasion I did right away…

Not a dungeon. It’s just an instance with the dungeon popup window that’s confusing.

And it is laughable easy. You will get all achievements beside the “3 minute rescue” probably in the first run.

This is as casual as it can get. No need to kill any mobs in between the scarlet encounters. And the three encounters are really easy.

Actually so far I have nothing to complain beside some minor bugs Anet is already aware of according to moderators merging topics.

The invasion events a kinda cool. It feels like WvW should have been, mutltiple groups need to attack multiple targets at the same time instead of a huge zerg fest.

It also scales nicely on the casual side when not so many people are on a map. With larger groups a few more champs could spawn though .Scarlet itself goes a down a bit too fast, but that’s ok.

Also he 10 min overflow thing works nicely. Only thing I can complain about it that on some maps (or overflows?) there are events stucks not spawning new mobs, which usally results in a failure of the event.

New Minis. I like that. Having something new to collect. Also seems to be some new account bound Minis. kitten , these are always hard to get and I miss a lot of them already.

Skin tickets from the past are now tradable as it seems.That’s ok. Too bad I used up mine as I did not know what else to do with them. I wish nothing you can just find or get as a reward would be account bound and everything would be tradable.

I don’t really like it that past skins might be still obtailable. But on the other hand it is fair to new players or playres that did play an event. Have not checked if the new skin tickets allow you now to always get old ones. If not now probably in the future. That’s a welcome change, even if a few of my alts will not be special anymore.

Beginning of the new Story: liked it very much, but the bumb defusion should have been on a timer and way more bombs. But it’s fine.

New mobs: nicely done, even though mostly reskins of existing mobs.

And the best: PvE culling is now gone (configurable to be exact). Thank you. This was way overdue.

And now Scarlet hacked the login servers as well xD.

Getting alternate “unable to again acctes to the login server” / “unable to authenticate gameplay privileges” error message since then.

You missed the ones where the chest is notopen. The chest will only show open once the gate is open as this spawns the real chest. Yes, this is another of the tons of small bugs in this update.

Don’t mean to be that guy, but sharing an account with another person breaks the ToS too. Which also punishes couples/family/friends that have 1 PC among them and only use 1 GW2 account.

Sharing in the legal sense also does not mean “a friend of mine logged in” or “I gave my login details for 5 mins to someone else”. It is in the ToS, so that multiple persons do not use a license in turns as Anet needs wants to sell two licenses, which is perfectly understandable.

But we are getting off-topic here.

What bothers me most is that there seems to be some sort of developer complacency about the issue: shouldn’t they apologize for this? Shouldn’t they at least say “we are aware that this is not up to our high standards and we will be looking into correcting these issues in the future”?

That would be smart move and would not even be admiting they delivered sub par content once again. CRM is as bad as QA here. Anet’s really unprofessional here and just decides to say nothing and sit it out. Time to revisit corporate governance here in my opinion.

But again: hard content is good. But you have to feel that you cannot do it because it is beyond your skill and not because of technical aspects like the camera or RNG (read the infamous “Crabtacular”).

On other forums people are openly admitting to use camera hacks in mass to complete this one and they could not have done it without it.

No ones is breaking ToS here as no one is offering a service here.

Legal defitnion of a service is: “The doing of something useful or helpful for another individual or for a company in exchange for a fee.”

Basically: No one is allows to make money out of GW2 beside Anet or anyone Anet authroizes to do so. Which is perfectly fine. Just protecting IP and investment.

When I try to do Liadri and there is a nice DE farmer who rezes me I usually let him do an additional round or two before me. It’s quick and saves me the annoying run from the waypoint.

If you are nice to the farmers, they will be nice to you.

And of the 100 beta testers not a single one encountered the dozens of bugs in the arena we all experienced right away in the first hour on the 1st day?

You’d think that this would have been a tip-off in regards to QA, don’t you?

And there were lot of more bugs fixed that are not mentioned in the patch notes. How do I know? Because I reported a ton of them and they are gone.

Quality Assurance is not the same as Quality Control. Read up on it. And hard content is fine with me. I am no calling for nerf or anything else, just better quality standards.

Just stay at one tower.

It is always the order of: escort guest, pirate attack, champ.

In every cycle there is a different champ. So just stay at one until you got the missing ones.

Strugar and Chomper - any tips?

For me it was a luck thing when the meat was not thrown to the feet of Chomper.

Goal is: deny chomper the meat buff. Once you got three in a row smash Chomper (the food will give you a huge damage buff) and then Strugar. No need to go for more meat. Three are enough to beat them both within the time limit.

Beside that I just tanked them on a Warrior using a hammer. Guardian should be easier here.

Pack a lot of CC. Took me about 30 tries until the meat was not thrown at Chomper’s feet right away or Strugar was spamming meat every two seconds. Once this did not happen it worked right away.

Anet, just remove the domes and all will be good. Yeah, I know you do not admit to have made a mistake. Cover it up as part of the living story. Explosion in the arena that shattered the domes and we will forgive you once more and never talk about it again.

Just created a new guild for Liadri quitters…

Requirement: Only clones that exactly look like Liadri are permitted, 100% rep required in the arena and first name must be Liadri and you are not permitted to zoom out anywhere in the game.

250+ tickets and counting. Have 65g left, so roughly another 250-300 tries before I am broke and starting to sell everything and finally quit the game. So a few more days and I am done for good.

Have no income anymore because of trying to beat the 1st person camera. No time to farm, no time for flipping. Wasted everything on levelling alts, equipment, you name it.

It is the frigging mini. Everytime I would open the bank I would see a missing one that reminds me of my failure. That’s not very entertaining.

Yes, I know exactly what to do. But in phase 2 I just cannot pull it off. Usually if I do not make a mistake I get pulled to an orb into AoE with no way of escaping or the clones are just there and kill me a few seconds later.

Thank you Anet. Would be nice if you start a QA department that actually test stuff for user experience…

Hell, I would pay anyone for just taking my main warrior on my account and do it for me. Name your price, I won’t even try to negotiate. I give you all I have. Hell, I farm you a legendary if needed.

Guess by mid of the week I am off to another game…

Obviously the daily was not updated to check the wallet if karma was spend and looking at the old place that now is probably always 0.
