I get the feeling staff is intentionally weak so that it can be bumped up instead of down.
The Elite combo string caught me off guard. It looks like so much fun.
That…Is actually pretty friggin’ awesome.
Can’t wait to see it in action.
Never in my life have I so consistently seen subforums get so bent out of shape over names.
Dragonhunter I can kind of understand, even if that’s still an overreaction, but Daredevil is actually a cool name. Way better than some generic “Assassin” or “Shadow Dancer” that pops up in, oh, every other fantasy MMO ever.
Dragons look at mortals probably the same way you’d look at minions in League of Legends. Tiny, insignificant, and expendable.
The dragons don’t seek worship. They seek slaves. There is absolutely nothing you could offer them that they could not simply take from you.
Why Herald-specific?
Roleplaying and dressup. Recently made a Bloodborne themed character, he’s fun.
Sword 4 is to help maintain pressure and keep your squishy kitten alive. I will never -ever- be dissatisfied with a block on an offhand weapon. That said, mace is more offensive than offhand sword, which is more of a utility weapon. I don’t think this is a failing at all. It’s quirky, but that’s hardly a bad thing. You can pull some silly shenanigans with offhand sword.
Mace and Axe both do hilarious amounts of direct damage, even as condition weapons. Sword/Axe is not a bad setup for direct damage, even if it’s attacks apply conditions. Thinking of it as only a condition damage weapon is limiting yourself.
I think you’re overthinking things.
It’s Hammer.
Unless I misunderstood your question.
All Elite specialization are based on Superheroe.
Revenant Herald is Silver Surfer for example.
warrior Berserker is Human Torch.
Dragon Hunter is Hawkeye.
Reaper is Spectre.
Forge is Forge.
Druid is Druid.
etc
There are so many superheroes saturating comic books that you could apply that to virtually anything and come out with an analogous superhero.
I don’t think it really has to be thematically appropriate. I think adding profession-specific tells to dodge animations would make it easier (particularly for players with low res or small screens) to see when a player is dodging. It wouldn’t have to be anything too elaborate, but some sort of extra audio/visual cue that would inform you that the enemy is currently evading could go a long way IMO.
You mean like a dodge roll animation? I’m just givin’ you a hard time, don’t mind me.
My only problem with Shattering Blow is that he doesn’t stomp the ground to summon the rock first.
Daredevil really doesn’t sound as bad as people make it out to be. Neither does Dragonhunter, really. I get that it’s subjective, but come on. There are better things to be mad about.
Besides, why get all bent out of shape about the name? If you’re gonna get mad now, you’re just mentally pushing yourself toward being disappointed when more news about Daredevil (if that is the name) gets revealed.
Even if the Elite Spec is super good and everything Thief needs, you’ll be so salt about the name that you can’t even bring yourself to enjoy it.
It’s just a name in a game.
Lighten up a bit, man.
That…That would be cool. Like how the Old Hunter’s Bone in Bloodborne makes you briefly vanish while evading.
I don’t even think Dragon Hunter is a bad name.
Tree-jesus replaces your Order Mentor. That means he replaces the best grandpa ever, Forgal…The lovable Tybalt…Or the cutie, Sieran. Less than a chapter after their death.
He. Is. Not. Welcome. In. Forgal’s. Spot.
Granted, he grew on me. I eased up on him a bit. I even like him a tiny bit now. But it took two and a half years to even get that far.

I just still don’t see legend swaping as a valid mechanic to get energy back. It would work if we had many more legends to pick 2 from. That way if I want to do 2 dps legends i can instead of I am in shiro putting down some pressure and I get low on energy. Now I am forced to swap into a non dps legend for 10 seconds to get energy back.
Energy is not only used for utility skills.
You can use the energy from the other legend only for weaponskills and haling, then swap again. Also every legend has good damaging skills except Ventari.
Both Shiro, Jalis, Glint and Mallyx have dps upkeeps to boost your weaponskills while you wait cd to go back to your first legend.
So I don’t really know what you’re talking about. We actually have 2-3 dps legends, but that also depends on the weapon and gear you’re using.
You keep saying DPS. I do not think that DPS means what you think it means. Nor can I agree with you because from my experience with the Rev so far is that Shiro is DPS, but only decent. Jalis, Mallyx, and Glint aren’t DPS legends, to boost that POV, Roy called Shiro the DPS legend. If the others were, they would have called the others DPS legends as well, but he didn’t… And if you think any besides Shiro are DPS legends then you don’t know what DPS refers to nor should anyone be listening to you talk about DPS.
But Mallyx is a 10% boost to all stats while you’re using the Elite. That’s a pretty hefty DPS boost.
Sinister + Sword/Sword and Sword/Shield is pretty strong. With the upcoming torch, it could be even stronger.
Doesn’t Symbolic Avenger boost the damage enemies take for EVERYONE standing in your Symbols?
Ah, I see.
Well, while I can’t really say that I just want more ‘human-ish’ faces, I’m sure there’s a middle ground here somewhere. The carvings are pretty necessary since Sylvari lack hair – and by extension, eyebrows.
So you want a bare minimum of carvings or just…Maybe like fronds for eyebrows maybe?
Why would I play as a non-human race and still want to look more human than not? There’s a difference between resemblance and imitation.
I actually like sword’s AA animations.
Sword/Axe + Hammer
Shiro + Jalis
Full Zerker.
Alternatively, I’ve tried a classic condition build (Mace/Axe + Sword/Sword with Carrion gear, Mallyx instead of Jalis.)
Devastation – 2, 3, 1
Corruption – 2, 1, 2
Invocation – 3, 3, 1.
Scholar Runes, with Sigil of Air + Force.
I don’t know why I like Rapid Lacerations so much, it’s just…Between it and Impossible Odds, I like going as fast as possible.
I don’t wanna just make a reverse-blanket statement and say you were the only one but I haven’t heard of anyone else having this issue. It’s pretty easy to use context clues to figure out which is which.
I personally like my fluffy flavor text.
I donno, Kidel, I kinda wanna believe this is working as intended.
There’s also the whole Hammer + Inspiring Reinforcement thing. Pretty good swiftness uptime but you have to stop in your tracks to do it.
Could definitely use some Protection or something on Jalis or Hammer skills, some evades on Swords. Anything that helps mitigate damage while being focused would be a major help.
The skill also adds a ton of extra damage to your attacks, don’t forget that.
I hate the idea of binding a weapon to a Legend. Aside from taking my character customization out of my hands, I tend to enjoy using weapons outside of their “destined” roles.
For instance, I like to use Jade Daggers while using a hammer to heal from a distance while doing a little extra damage. Especially if my other Legend’s heal is on cooldown. How about that, weapon swapping + legend swapping being used in inventive and useful ways. Who’da think it.

I fail to see what that has to do with anything. Stay on topic.
(After a full day playing Revenant, trying a variety of builds in all game types)
The switching between both LEGENDS and WEAPON SWAP feels very clunky and uncomfortable. It’s an awkward thing to do.
I suggest that the switching of Legends and Weapons happen simultaneously. And the player decides which weapon set goes with which Legend prior combat.
I disagree with this. Sometimes I wanna use a Mace/Axe with Jalis, or use Sword/Sword with Mallyx.
I will grant that I found it awkward at first, but I got used to it really quickly and before long, I was swapping weapons and legends like I’d been doing it for years. Just took a bit of practice.
I felt like Sword, though incomplete, was great fun. The animations are stylish and I definitely had a blast zipping through mobs as Shiro. It desperately needs an evade, and a fix on the block, but other than that, great fun.
The healing skill needs it’s ICD removed. That’s my only gripe.
Hammer’s nice and strong, and Jalis’ utility saved my life more than once. His elite, though slow, gave me just enough of an edge in a few close fights to come out on top.
Shiro’s utilities, I love them to bits. Phase Traversal is tons of fun to spam, and Impossible Odds just helps me melt things, as well as being a useful tool for just running around and exploring. I spam his elite as much as possible in big fights, and it usually ends up turning the tables in my favor.
I didn’t play around much with Mallyx, but the time I did spend with him was not at all disappointing. Between his elite and sword’s damage, it was fun to just get in there and hit guys.
Revenant’s looking to be my favorite class, bar none.
I like sword’s auto attack animation. I’m glad it’s at least a little different from other classes, if only slightly
I’m having fun with it.
I’ve been using Phase Traversal to dash between enemies for faster movement if I’m in a bind. The long range usually gets me out of trouble.
We’re here to test the Revenant’s full capabilities. It would defeat the purpose to have to level one from scratch.
I think he sounds great too. He’s my bro and we fight as one.
I’m pretty okay with Impossible Odds turning me into Sonic the Hedgehog.
Me and Shiro are gonna go through thick and thin together.
Dreamthistle Sword with Wall of Thorns, whenever Revenant gains the ability to use Shields.
I loved Hammer visually but yes, it is very slow. I know that it is supposed to be the big mean powerhouse weapon, and with that in mind, I don’t think it’s supposed to be used very offensively. It’s skills seem more suited to keeping people away with big telegraphed “warnings” than flat out blowing folks up. The damage rework for Hammer should make it a good powerhouse weapon, though.
Mine will be Sylvari because Salad Fairies are cute and they are pretty much the main characters with how closely tied they are to current events.
Formally requesting Jalis, Ventari, Mallyx and Glint when she eventually arrives.
Strikes me as unlikely. Why would they double-down on giving out Staffs as a new weapon? On two of the three medium classes, no less?
Rifle seems like the more obvious choice. I’ll be heavily disappointed if they double-dip with staffs.
