Haha. I hope so. I can’t stand Logan. He does nothing but whine and cry all the time. A terrible character overall.

I can’t stand entire destiny’s edge. They do nothing but whine and cry all the time. Terrible guild overall.
The only good member of that whiny bunch of girls is eir’s wolf, because he’s just doing his wolf job.

Questions about mesmer!

Winds.3087

As far as the guys here that are saying all the Mesmer is, is a utility bot. Don’t mind the doomsayers. We have access to a huge amount of builds that are more than viable for every group out there. We have more retaliation uptime than any other class. We can get all buffs in game and share them with a group, huge spike damage builds, phantasm builds for good damage while staying back from the front lines, shatter builds (look through Osicat’s stuff) that can front line.
There’s plenty there if you can play it. If. This is a high skill profession. People forget that, lose a fight then say we suck. So like I said, don’t mind the doomsayers.

You may be whatever you like outside zerg, if you’re running with zerg, you’re either as tanky as you could be utility bot, either another point of rally. It is zerg that makes your server win at this state of wvw, not roamers.

Buzz off lol. Mesmers are NOT just Portal/Veil bots, although those are two very strong utilities that a Mesmer can bring to a zerg.

Yeah, well, they are. You need 1-2 mesmers for entire zerg just like thieves, you need as much guardians as you can get.
I also like watching people shooting dark path straight through someone’s feedback and killing poor fella who made it.

Yeah, entire Rift is based for invasions and cleansing afterwards. Remember those plant rifts? Man, that music.

I find it odd that even if we fail our invasion, we are still being rewarded. For what, actually?

Isolation always = almost dead science and overall stagnation. Source – IRL history.

Yeah, well, the thing is, we ain’t hangin’ near history club tonight when we want to think about this game’s reality which features actual gods, portals, other dimensions, magic, undead, huge freaking dragons eating magic and corrupting everything they touch, living plants, gnomes little smart humanoids etc.

Veil/portal bots, sir.
Better use guardian for all zerg needs.
Some wvw-centric guilds punish players by forcing them on mesmer. I think this says it all.

We don’t know that they have an overpopulation problem. They did in GW1, but that was before an afflicted invasion and a few major wars between warring guilds, a purging from the Ministry of Purity, and eventually the war to conquer the land. On top of that Kurzick and Luxon land is both in the process of healing and fully under the control of the empire so spreading out is much more viable.

Bunch of brutes rose from bronze age to mortars and tanks in the matter of 250 years, and you think witty asians with extreme levels of population growth won’t find their way? Come on. I think their emperor already has his own mist-shuttle by now.
Jade sea and petrified forests perhaps already thawed too.

While I don’t have much respect for the living story, I completely disagree here. Braham may be an emo, but the Rox/Braham team is fun to play with. not to mention useful when it come to mob clearing and reviving. Trahearne wasn’t just a poor 2-dimensional leader, he was also a bad fighter.
And look at Ellen Kiel. She’s been through a lot for her city. Did she moan like leafy boy here? Nope.

First of all, it’s about your own definition of “fun”, which may or may not apply to other people.
Second and here we go again – you can’t use in-game mechanics to judge character, because obviously it’s in dev hands. I recall Trahearne summoning hell of a ton of flesh golems which were actually useful.
Third, we couldn’t elect ourselves or any order’s master or any casual bystander for obvious reasons: either someone whom they all trust and don’t put one order above others, either this little pact nonsense will fall apart quickly.
So who’s left?
All that happens next just shows how hard he tries not to disappoint all those who followed him. Bet he didn’t even wanted to be leader.
The one and only problem of personal story I see is writer’s almost fanatical obsession with easy asuran “it’s magic\technobabble I aint explain anything” way of unfolding events. It’s true with living story too. Most of them, if not all(even bazaar – no asurans around, yet it’s magic) feature such lazy writing.

I don’t think he’s ten times better than the duo of Rox/Braham. Seriously, those two are fun to work alongside, and it doesn’t feel their AI is useless.

Also, Ellen Kiel would revive me in the Aetherblade Retreat, which Trahearne never did. So he’s got a while to catch up to her.

In-game mechanics. I was talking about their backstory(which in case of braham is one sue in the box).
I bet trahearne ai was done when those fancy rez tricks weren’t around or at least perfected. Why didn’t they implement that for all npc, that’s another story.

Thing is, 95% parties care about efficiency and poor dps will not help it.

Where? Heard pax had no mesmers at all, I’m getting banned outta my guild tourney party because mesmers are not meta enough and most hotjoin heroes are running prismatic or phantasm trollspecs.

Winds.3087

In terms of healing, Guardian isn’t better. They can blast water fields using Hammer, sure, and heal others with staff 4, yeah. But what else? The dodge roll heal is miniscule and is still low when specced into healing power.

Recent changes on mace traits turn guardian into freaking monk and that’s ain’t no kidding. Anet buffs scalings for heal power on guardian skills virtually each update, so at this moment you can already make guardian that will heal tons of hp passively or actively with his each 3rd or even 2nd move while still doing his typical guardian job.
They also have far more than blasting water fields and staff4.

Aw, come on. People, specially new on mesmer, they all like killing stuff faster.

It’s like going back to queensdale on your mighty 80 and finally showing dem oakhearts who’s the boss here.
Like one of those little mesmer’s tricks where if you hit your “1” faster, you’ll shoot purple rays from your greatsword faster.

Staff may be considered fine for offense only if you target something like huge boss that has tons of unique conditions on him. Otherwise, it’s straight up defensive weapon with a little touch of one of those condition builds(which are useless in pve anyway) in my book.
Snails of Chaos just ruins it’s offensive potential.

In GW2 they’ve merely expanded on this idea of the innate magical abilities that weapons have. While a focus item in GW1 would give you extra energy, in GW2 it also allows you to do special attacks. Same for scepters and staves.

Well, only that in GW2 you can’t cast fireballs without staff at all. No-go. Grab that overgrown club and then get back here with your shiny fireball. But if you don’t have staff, you get nothing, you lose, good day, sir. That looks silly and rubbish for me. What kind of mage can’t get their fireballs out without that crutch?
Why can’t they seal in stone only autos to some extent so that all other skills would be selected just like you can select utility?
