The purple aura is nothing different from the huge amount of purple animations Mesmer normally has. Then the purple aura is tied to the character model, which means that it is pretty much unreadable on asuras (90% of the PvP population, then).
That’s the problem with any asura mesmer’s animations actually apart from blurred frenzy.
…why not just add standardized human-sized models as exclusive pvp option. Huge chunk of your and our problems will vanish the moment instant.
Any mesmer build with Moa as the elite in PvE.
Hey! Slapping moas instead of jade tentacles is fun.
You compare that huge purple aura around mesmer when he’s casting moa with necromancer’s mark animations? That’s… weird, to say the least.
Ah. Wait. Is fiery rush designed by leaving small AoE’s per distance covered? If that’s the case then I think it’s either a design oversight or a sloppy way to code a trail-based attack.
Not only fiery rush, but burning retreat and burning speed. There’s even nice trick with b. speed and blink, where you blink backwards right in the middle of it. Good damage if you pull it out.
They should buff other skills then. Or make Rampage similar!
How dare dem pesky eles outdps a warrior!
d\d signetmancer bunker ele, so I can feel flashy and so other guys in my group can think I’m actually contributing stuff.
But could you see that trail on, say, little asura hopping around?
Seen old B. in action, got jelly, tried to find something similar. Found A. instead.
Yeah, probably. 300k DPS is pretty high.
Justified on 30 million hp sponges, I think.
It does add some confusion between rank and personal skill though. Oh, how about qualifying points? Anet could add them back for team\solo tournaments as measure of one’s accomplishment.
Thats the difference between how they play and i do, i dont aim to burst confusion, i let it go as i am playing rather then just simply trying to burst everything i have at the start because as you have seen it can be very wasteful
It doesn’t actually matter how one will deliver their confusion. If you deliver it in bursts, one of five active clears will take care of it. If you like more steady approach, that’s where passive stuff starts kickin’- 2 passive clears and foods.
I might slow my spam a bit though. Wait for your cover conditions to expire, if you use such.
Last time I died in WvW as guardian was three months ago, and that was because of vizunah lag machine that summoned around 25 people on my backside. Though after recap I still think that I could’ve get out of it in one piece, if not for lag.
You’ll need at least 3 confusion mesmers focused on such guardian to take it down – provided it will still spam skills.
And these guardians are almost never seen alone. They have at least 10 similarly built buddies stacked on them.
Last time I met perplexity confusion mesmer on my guardian when I was getting into action for monthly kills, just kept running forward spamming 1. Mesmer seemingly executed escape plan after three failed consecutive confusion bursts that took my three shouts on cooldown.
:P
Shatterburst mesmers are way more dangerous. At least, I notice them.

The new elementalist skills that heal – in fact, healing on a general note across all non-Guardian professions – is an interesting development which is perplexing. Is it just finding new ways to use the four schools, or did preservation get mixed into the professions thus limiting folks from using more professions (as more schools would become difficult to handle)?
I thought about that too and think that all ele heals are composed of cleverly applied destruction in such way that it actually does the opposite.
That was true in first game perhaps too, where we had enchantment that would heal and energy gain each time you cast something and glyph that would heal you when next several spells cast and regen from some water spells.
What’s wrong with that? They will have absolute zero competitive stats, and only those matter, at least for me.
Don’t you dare touch my moa. I’m using it on jade maw tentacles.
Personally, I dropped my WvW mesmer with “go to hell” yell when anet restricted us to drop phantasms on walls. Now I’m running guardian, this class can simply run forward, spam 1, shoutfaceroll and get ten time more kills than mesmer.
Very balanced.

Provided that you have tons of people who are ready to blast it. If I had to pick most useful everywhere, I’d pick consume conditions.
I think that one of the best ways to avoid necro marks is dodge in random directions.
And last I checked, signet you mentioned make that huge… thing over necro appear.
Why bother even talking about that? Clearly anet doesn’t even read all those countless good, bad, nice, ugly, overpowered, balanced suggestions. They have their own vision of mesmer. Or don’t. We don’t know. Too busy to tell us.
So heart of the mists count as hotjoin? That’s really confusing. We’ll need “competitive dummy” then.
Personally I have nothing against necros, I can kill them, it’s just strange that anet balance team allows some builds to faceroll keyboard and still kick kittens.

nerfed dhuumfire
Did they?
Sometimes I just die for no apparent reason, open my combat log and see nothing that I could link with this undesirable result.
please ask them how they want to make mesmer viable again
and elementalist
I’d be ok if they made shattered condition’s restoration or illusion master major trait and scrape it’s aoe fact.
Sadly, ain’t gonna happen.
go 10/30/0/30/0 enough dmg
Phantasm build? So you’re telling me that you will shatter your only source of meaningful damage for cleanse?
The mesmer’s downed state negates everything and is almost guaranteed to interrupt anyone’s initial execution attempt. In this sense it is similar to the Ele’s downed state, although unlike mist form, the mesmer can be revived while using his downed state skills.
Mesmer’s downed state actually can be secured if you deprive him of any targets.
It also sometimes negates itself due to random nature of teleport. You wouldn’t want to mess with mesmer when their downed teleport was ground-target like thief’s. That’s why they nerfed it.

best condi removal mesmer has
On paper. In reality you have to slot 30 inspiration, which restrains either your shatters, either your clone generation and in both cases nullifies your damage potential. Only meaningful damage coming from inspiration is phantasm, which you gonna shatter for condition removal. Yeah, well, no thanks. Better slot null field or even idisenchanter.
It’s about class design. Mesmer is more like trickster-mage, while elementalist is your old-school mage.
Anything other than magical stuff in hands of elementalist will be completely out of touch with profession style. Okay, some enchanted swords – maybe. But remember, you should not swing it, or you will become guardian.
Ritual daggers aren’t from gw1, in gw1 you could be elementalist wielding hammer or scythe and be ok with that. It’s more about daggers in general.
On the other hand greatsword is plain wrong on mesmer too, but sword, now that’s where it belongs.
I think we have necro conspiracy here, to undermine our build creativity potential, funded by notorious thief Zommoros.
@Winds: That is subjective. Obviously others don’t think the way you do, hence this post. Sword/greatsword looks good on mesmer, a light armored caster class. It will look good on an elementalist too. Conjure greatsword, axe or whatever and have a look.
Daggers doesn’t fall under the category of “magical tools”. I would argue that if you can channel magical energy through an item, it automatically becomes a magical tool, therefore any weapon can become such.
Everything in this thread is subjective.
Sword and greatsword(albeit that one is questionable) looks good on mesmer, because this class supposed to be magical duelist.
Elementalist is one hundred percent your typical fantasy mage, with a little twist(daggers).
However, daggers have some really solid backups as magical tools, precisely ones that fall into “ritual dagger” category.
I also don’t quite understand why would elementalist need something they can already conjure. So you can wield your fiery greatsword while conjuring your fiery greatsword? Wouldn’t that look silly?
Swords, torches, I can understand about that. Spear would be fine too.
Finally, rifles and pistols for someone that can smack a fireball in their foe’s face instantly raise level of silliness above nine thousand. It’s like conjuring fiery quaggans instead of phoenixes while wielding polla.

If by “march” you mean “drive their machines of war” then yes, and I don’t see a problem with that. It isn’t like the Norn will view it as an act of war.
Dredge will. They see shiverpeaks as their territory. And if you haven’t noticed, they have their own machines of war – equal, if not more advanced than charr ones.
I think guardian is far more valuable to the team alive than mesmer. You can call it “balance”.
We both know anet won’t lift a finger to fix confusion stacking mechanics for good. I’m afraid they will only nerf perplexity 6 and then add it to structured pvp… which may turn it into confusionfest, people will complain, mesmer confusion nerfed again.
(edited by Winds.3087)
Facepalm. That’s the point. Also, I forgot to add quickness finishing to that list. Downed mesmers make quickness-finishing useless, too.
What point exactly? How anything you mentioned will help you finish, say, thief? Or self-ressing engineers and rangers?
It’s mesmers who should have access to better confusion, not engineers or warriors or whatever else. It even has butterflies. It’s mesmer condition, like anomaly and of the mists are mesmer weapons. We even have traits for confusion. How come engineers can stack it better without such traits? It’s simply insulting.
Causing random mass ae interrupts, that’s for sure. I don’t mind some chaos rolling, but when I need to act like randomnumberite zealot to get what I want each time I press button, this turns out silly, like horses taking over the world. Or playing condition mesmer.
It’s 1/3 vulnerability that makes them unreliable. I’d be more okay with poison. We know that chaos can posion. Hundreds of affected asura near thaumanova can’t lie on this matter.
bah, anet won’t listen like they always do
Face it, anything except magical tools would look extremely silly and out of place on elementalist.
Even sword.
- Can only cause Bleeding and Confusion at all, and Bleeding is RNG.
You forgot about burning from staff, which is random too though.
Stop dreaming. Charr will have to march trough shiverpeaks for that.
Meanwhile, Palawa’s forces can simply cross scavenger causeway and consider themselves in Orr – I bet they are already dispatching that last now-uncontrolled group of Zhaitan’s risen in desert. When Pact leaves, Joko and his undead friends will be there faster than you could say “swoosh” with your tail.
Yeah guaranteeing your opponent to waste 8+ seconds to successfully execute you is so stupid. Making stability, teleport, blind, and stealth finishing useless is so stupid!
Why would you possibly need stability, teleport and blind to finish mesmer?
That’ll show dem conditioneers.
Or perhaps they simply removed it, because I remember it clearly – blessing was there and acted just like blessings of wolf\leopard\bear are. I used it.
Allow us to pick between all our available 5/15/25 traits we have now.
And weapon skills!
I remember that you could get Grenth’s blessing if you /kneel before one of his statues. Some percents of life steal and +exp.
Well then, you got bad day, happens. I doubt they will fix it asap too. So sit back and relax.
Because, honestly, if all you did just stood on resp and made your party members fight 5v3, I don’t think you did any better than fella who left. Feels like cheating dishonored.
Even 4v5 still has the sliver of chance to win, 5v3 is no chance at all.
Slow and power-based auto chain on scepter that supposed to be our condition weapon looks kind of silly.
We don’t know that the canthans have massive levels of population growth though. It is stated in Factions that the overpopulation problem in Kaineng City was almost fully caused by the fact that the Jade Wind forced people to flee the Echovald Forest and Jade Sea. Now that those areas are healing (we know they are healing but not how long it will take for the healing to be complete) the areas can be moved back into. That plus massive amounts of population decline caused by disease, affliction, and war after war after war after war would make there be little need to expand past the continent they already have. Isolationist countries very rarely have reason to expand, because doing so makes them vulnerable. There is no reason for them to try to claim land, especially as far away as Orr. Heck if they went to claim anything it would probably be Elona more than anything because it is much closer, and less of a strain on resources, but that I find even less likely.
Well yes, tho I don’t agree with some points(don’t forget this is fantasy stuff and if they want canthans doing something, they will do it no matter how isolationist they are because it’s obviously magic – and we don’t even know for sure if they are isolationist at all).
Now I’m actually waiting for someone to burn LA down.
