@winds.3087 – I have NO issues in PvE using my Condition build, and even have managed to solo some high level events, so i dont think that Mesmer “never viable in PvE” is correct

The key word is solo. No doubt, condition build will be ok solo. Anything will be ok solo, actually. Even mesmer without traits at all will be. But have you compared your damage as condition spec with damage from power or power\precision mesmer?

They were never viable in pve to begin with. Condition mesmer specifically is unpredictable – where necromancer knows exactly how much bleeds he’s gonna get on target, mesmer have to make rough guess.
Confusion is just useless. All your precious 11 stacks of confusion have 50% chance to result in nothing and 50% chance to result in laughable single tick of damage, because mobs don’t have bad habit of spamming skills and confusion don’t last long.
Add to that ball our typical pve condibuild woes like overwriting from power builds and dotlike damage, the picture will look even worse.

i know that since forever….i tested all of them in fotms and posted time ago.
It happens ONLY 2 times in the game <.< at that time you just switch your trait from VIII to IX for longer glamour duration.

In EACH other fractal the trait is gold and improving hugely your dps.
Also reducing iwarden casting time ._.

Reflect is the main reason why i use phantasm and not shatter.

Get a competent guardian in your static already so you can trait whatever you like. I used to run shatters with 20 inspiration, then changed it for 10 inspiration and never even noticed any difference in support department.

And all this because adding 0/1 fractal in daily is just plain wrong and promotes such jerk moves. Make it count only after you beat last fractal or make it 0/3 fractal requirement.

Every single pve encounter in this game is best dealt with damage, while best support on some encounters is reflect&absorb. Pure support mesmer has no place in this, it will fall back to useless tier pretty much every time, just like support ranger, condition engineer, condition necromancer and support thief. Warriors do damage better than anyone out there. Guardians support like 10 times your wildest dreams are. But what place has mesmer in this duo? The answer is unique utility and vigor sharing, which doesn’t require deep inspiration. In fact, 10 inspiration is more than you need most of the time, because un-traited warden is better than traited.
And I’ll explain that little more, because this community was meant to share tricks and cantrips for everyone(and that curious developer who lurks in shadows and will fix this asap, no doubt).
There are some projectiles which cannot be reflected, nor absorbed, for example tom’s whirling move and rabsovich’s wave of instagib. Untraited warden eats those, while traited warden doesn’t. Until they change that behavior, in some cases it’s more efficient to not take focus enhancing trait – which saves you precious 10 points to spend elsewhere, perhaps even in domination.
Surely you could just get the hell inside tom and find that magical precise spot where you completely ignore his whirl and melee all day as you wish, or get on that pipe if dealing with rabsovich, but those are just obviously screaming exploit, while warden is… weee, being helpful? (:

Recently I tried to step aside from playing only shatter variations, tried phantasm build and guess what – those poor fellas still dissipate in one-two hits even with all traited for their survival. Better leave phantasms shatterfodder.

Dirty tricks, huh?

Doing FTL you can simply port to dungeon entrance waypoint right when your party enters and before frizz activates and, well, leave your party to handle the job. Make sure you are in frizz chamber when last golem still lives and hit it. Take note though that you are getting ported into frizz chamber automatically when approach second dungeon waypoint.

As for personal space, just relog on alt when Mai Trin is defeated and there’s only Horrik. Make sure to hit him and avoid his aoe.

Must add that I absolutely loved reaper’s rumble and snowball mayhem and dragon ball(to some extent). They were almost perfectly balanced and actually fun to play. Why there isn’t spvp variant of those minigames?

I don’t like spvp for it being completely disconnected from the rest of the game, yet still affecting other 2/3 of game. Why should we care about spvp meta, one which was never applied to pve and www? But we have to build around it, because 99% of balance changes come from this gamemode and most of them doesn’t make any sense at all.
Do you really think that this situation is fair, guys?

I don’t get why anet thinks ele shouldn’t be mobile. Why did they add easy 100% swiftness uptime, various blinks and dashes then?

Obviously, I was wrong, since the best use of a mesmer is staying out of range whilst clones do the damage.

Melee mesmer does way more damage, besides, full ranged is for wuss.

Mark of Swiftness (Guardian staff #3) is the same functionnality and did got the same problem of stacking unlimited swiftness. It has been modified so that when you step in it while already have swiftness, it’ll grant you 1 additionnal second of swiftness. No reason TC can’t act like that, so it really seems like a bug.

It’s really hard to believe in this bug, when such behavior is present since day 1. But we both know how anet handles clarifying stuff.

It blocks everything, even gtaes! Also you can activate block portion off your own projectile i.e. staff1 and gs2, won’t be able to use it in echo though.

Not just -20% CD and +X stat. Something like other classes get with +range, +crit, or we could get more funky things like Scepter spawning 2 clones on Ether Clone.

See I would agree with you if and I mean if those skills didn’t act like an invul in their own way yes you still take damage but the thing is with the amount of damage reduction and heals the damage you are taking is pretty much nonexistant not to mention the fact that conditions are pretty much worthless on an ele. Then you also have a long regen in which you are still healing its like you they never stop healing or have some way to keep damage off them. Anyway look I dont want to argue about this anymore, but I would be happy if you gave me some input on my Idea for Mind Spike and I Riptose

In order of all this to be true, elementalist must spec meta 20water30arcane and gear quite a good chunk of healing power with s\d or d\d weaponsets. Now try doing that on full berserker elementalist and in first encounter you’ll see that your heals are lacking and your protection only helps so far, but won’t save you from instagibs, so your only real protection is dodge and therefore vigor! I’d say, leave elementalist alone and focus on mesmer, those lolcantripbunkers already took a big hit.

I’m curious why do you think that winds of chaos with it’s infamously slow projectile speed(roughly similar to guardian’s orb) is top dps 1200 auto out there?
It’s fairly ok in melee range, but after even 400-600 players can outrun it.

And? It’s also on a melee weapon, on a cloth caster.

And that’s the reason why berserker mesmer survive better in melee than berserker elementalist or berserker necromancer. Even warriors would sell their soul and 50% of hb damage for this fabulous skill. I don’t agree with making it evade instead of invulnerability though(obviously because I frequently play melee mesmer), but elementalists need better defenses too, maybe 5(five for kittens)-hit arcane shield instead of 3-hit.

There is no difference when you factor in that ele’s get 3 heals total plus damage minus via protection all on a short cooldown yes we evaded everything but after we got lit up. Yes having it on a 8sec (if specced) was a little much but the evading everything was needed us being squishy and being in a melee range just like ele’s need 3 heal protection and a way to escape which no one can catch up with(actually 2 rotl and there slot 5 skill in air attunment) o ya we have invun from everything but remember we have 1 heal pretty much no wait to actually escape combat unless we spec into it and our protection has to be specced into too with a 15sec cooldown or via stealth which again needs to be heavily specced into.

Why in the nine hells are you even comparing proactive defense(mesmer’s) to reactive defense(the one elementalist has)?
Avoiding damage entirely will always be better, then soak-and-heal and soak-33%-less-damage. Heal can be interrupted, protection can be shredded, invulnerability and evade on the other hand doesn’t care how much punching you’re about to receive. It soaks 100 and 10000 damage with equal efficiency.

In fact before 2 patches ago I got stable 5-6 rares and pretty good exotic chance, now I get less and less loot virtually each run, meanwhile someone got 8-10 rares those exact 2 patches ago and now loots 5-6 rares and metric ton of lodestones\cores. All rng but heaven’s delight how I’m tired of this totally perverted risk\reward state of loots in fractals. Why should players run stuff like 48 fractal and higher, lose 1hr 30 min average for what, pathetic rewards and “another relic for you, dear, I know, you want those”? Better run cof and get double, triple, quadruple reward for clicking autoattack with your kitten’s left paw.

Just did 48 cliffside, behaves as normal(apart from everyone’s friend archdiviner doing his agony-reflect burst right after he lost hammer, unexpected fun). 2 chanters are still there and no additional mobs spawn.
My guess would be op’s party hasn’t restarted it properly, or accidentally killed initial chanters.

See, you are talking about an issue with a PvE encounter design. If the solution to the attack is to use Blurred Frenzy, something is wrong with the attack because only a single class has blurred frenzy and very few classes have comparable attacks or abilities (I can think of Ranger of top of my head, and then they still have to trait it).

Engineers? Last two I met used grenades from their max range and felt k.
We both know that they won’t change 48 dredges a single bit, because apparently “100000 hp non-vet monster lvl 83 with 6000-8000 armor and 10000-17000 attacks” is their vision of “hardcore”. We can only hope those encounters will be improved, but let’s get real – not in this season.
I bet my favorite bath duck they haven’t even thought about pve, when they changed bfrenzy. Could be ok for pvp, I don’t know because I don’t pvp nor do I care about it, but I don’t want to be affected by those pvp trends a single bit.

What do we see in Dredge? More groups of mobs that have not been there previously. There was an extra group patrolling behind the gate, 3 groups patrolling at the beginning, and I cannot recall every encountering this before.

Well those increased dredge numbers are really rare sighting and are already present since… I’m not sure, maybe 2-3 months already?

Are you sure you haven’t just aoed those first two in the accident? Some patches ago that sweet couple acquired bad habit of sometimes running after seal-breaker right into the corridor up to the second seal, which is countered by entire party run further towards that second seal for a brief time.
AND apparently if players screw up on those first two cultists, they have to reset entire fractals, not just gb2lab and start again. Probably true to other “player-screwed” fractals.

Logic may be connected, but still falls apart, because this so-called blur still shares icon with distortion, which is invulnerability and behaves differently, another example of anet being too fast with their 110% cryptonite nerf flails.

And I encourage you to try bfrenzy 48 gong dredges and call your nearest friendly psychologist afterwards, like I did.

Screw this esport kitten, why should pve suffer because of some rabbits can’t deal with butterfly shatter buffoons and then cry about it loud. We desperately need splitting such changes, so pve players remain unaffected by tidal wave of spvp meta.

We can get hit by retaliation now during a frenzy. Nothing too harsh imo, I don’t like it but the immunity was too much in terms of being off balanced. Dodge away or pop some distortion and you’ll be fine.

Forget about retaliation, most of us would be ok with that, but real kicker in the nuts is that blurred frenzy after 25 patch is interruptable mid-cast now.

Good job anet, nerfing pve melee mesmers for esports sake is just ridiculous. Why couldn’t they split it like they did for guardians? Is that so hard?

Nothing backbreaking for shatters in my book.
On the good side:
-Sturdier shatterfodder(phantasms, clones and instant increase for them with signet :>), which means more reliable 3shatters
-GS3 has slightly less negative impact on our dps and perhaps can be included in rotations, feels actually good and faster now, man(though that might be subjective)!
-Fixed Iberserker shatterfodder, which is good dps boost even for shatter mesmers
Nerfs:
-The only real concern so far is blurred frenzy. There are reports(and I experienced that myself) of frenzy behaving strange. We’ll have to test it in various places and see what did they mean by turning invulnerability to evade. Unblockable skills, environmental effects, mob cc, etc.
-And then there’s into the void. For those who used instant pull extensively, adapting to new 1-second delay could be painful.

That’s it so far.

Maybe i’m wrong then about it not being broken. It’s kinda hard to tell with this ability. We’ll just have to have enough people try it and come to a consensus.

As far as I can tell it’s working but that may be me being a dummy. Have to go double check>

I can’t check it myself now, but some fellow necromancers ranted about torment being weaker than regular bleed and not increasing it’s damage when target moves… they run critshrouds and mentioned this in pve environment though.

Main problem of phantasms in pve is that your damage entwined with their survival. Surely you could stack 3 phantasms, but if any of them dies, you lose 1/4 of your potential damage before you can replace it.
Before this patch phantasms that inherited full-berserker stats were literally blown by aoe whistle, even when their hp was boosted by signet or trait. Mixing damage with survival is not acceptable, since best way to get past of any pve encounter so far is more dps.

After patch I heard statements like “30000 hp phantasmal defender” and saw some improvements myself, so worth a try.

Already immobilized during frenzy, and it’s more or less a channeled ability too… a stun wouldn’t effect instant-cast spells, which are what Mesmers generally use while using Frenzy, as far as I know.

No, I was talking about me getting stunned mid-frenzy by that mob with ele-like shocking aura in that new dungeon. It was extremely frustrating experience.
