the numbers you see are totals of 3 spatial surges in the combat log. 637+262+637=1536
It does make sense… but I saw 3 numbers on the screen, and in that case first was ~800, second was ~600 and last was 1536.
I saw named green ring from HotW and named green backslot from AC.
How does this work?
We got strange numbers in roster, like, +105 influence from one completed dungeon, then +116 from two completed dungeons yesterday, and this day +10 from one dungeon and +20 from one dungeon. I suspect it has something to do with number of guild members doing dungeon(looks like fractals in this case).

Mesmers do 40% damage, illusions 60%ish.
That’s true only with phantasm builds.
I’ve never seen any necromancer actually nuking something in long-range, outside of lich form.
You would think 1 out of 3 chance in critting at 32%. I dont know how there could be something wrong with my character. Does your combat log state 1536 for that hit or does it say less? I do notice my Spatial Surge never records correctly in the combat log making it very difficult to calculate my output, does your log work the same as mine?
It does say less and sometimes more than actual damage. Seriously, combat log is nearly unreliable, we can trust only numbers we see with our own eyes on target.
I went and checked by killing 3 dolyaks with nothing but Spatial Surge. Not a single crit. Im at 32% crit as well. Am i doing something wrong because i would love to see Spatial Surge crit? I also have 80% crit damage so if i were to crit it would be pretty darn obvious. Does it only crit on certain mobs or only in PvP or something?
That’s really strange and looks like bug. Even at 32% crit, your abilities should crit at least sometimes on anything unless it’s structure and spatial surge is notoriously crit-friendly due to multiple hits(and each can result in crit).

This is my spatial test on some orrian stuff. I’m running mix berserkers-valkyrie with 49% crit chance and that fire blast was from sigil.
Just get your hands on lightning hammer! Anything that’s not immune to blind will crumble and you can just grab a bunch of mobs and auto them to their death.
And it should cook chicken for us also.

With a GS the only crits you can get are Mirror Blade initial attack, Mind Stab, and Mind Wrack, so you should be stacking Power on every single slot, regardless of the other item stats on your gear, top should always be Power.
Any GS ability can crit, even GS5. In fact, there is an entire condition build based on bleeds from gs clone’s auto crits.
Nice nickname, OP, we should find guy with a nickname “of” and start a heavy metal band that feels like utterly dominating God of Grind in pve.
And once more, the tiny sPvP causes broad problems in the far larger rest of the game. Great!
It’s all about e-sports and e-sportsmen. :P
Some of them enjoy summoning their e-phantasms while los in e-henge, while others don’t really feel like using their powerfull e-aoes to e-counter them, so they e-whine and we, not e-sportsmen, are suddenly… fixed.
Some of them are better then star trek fans tho.

Inability to see huge part of event and missing conclusion because of sound bugs, invisible boss, invisible geysers, massive lag, ~15 deaths, loginscreen bug and eventual ragequit – that’s frustrating. I can farm those 20-slots and precursors given time, but can’t fully participate this event, because it’s one-time.
Feels like jellyfish. And pepper!
And I’ve just ragequit because of intolerable lag. :\

Constructive and friendly would be much easier to achieve if we were given an idea of WHEN you will be fixing this. Roll back the changes until you figure out how to implement your “fix” without breaking the class beyond being playable.
I played Warhammer where the devs told us the Archmage was broken …. and then left it that way. I will not continue to support this company if you are going to take the same approach. If you break it … fix it.

Moderator can’t just clap his fingers and magically force those who are in charge of class balance to “fix” or “revert” something, it’s not his job at all.
You have a good point here. The ele nerf was doubly strange because not a single person EVER complained about the blast finishers, it was a balanced and well made mechanic that everyone liked. With phantasms, there at least was massive moaning, as much as it was uncalled for.
Some persons were complaining about “unkillable bunker elementalists”, thats why.
And increase the area a little bit. Now that the last patch broke the GS build, something should be done to fix it. Right now Mind Stab is not worth using it in any situation: it’s like having one less button in our skill bar.
It still strips boons.
Skirmishes still ok, but inability to do on par with other classes in sieges just kills me.
This is one-time event after all! Missing that atmosphere nearly angers me and perahps many other people who cannot fully immerse.
I see trees that fall in southsun cove, but they don’t make any sounds. I see tons of projectiles hitting emptiness. I die from that emptiness. I see subtitles of npc speaking, but can’t hear it.
Huge chunk of content slips through our fingers.
Just like it was with mad king’s jokes. Silent jokes. I haven’t even heard them, until that compilation on youtube emerged.

Isn’t that big issue to grind that carrion or rabid full set, but I’ll won’t do this. Shatter builds left mostly untouched, they just lost two mostly reliable shatter-fodders, and thats it.
And conditions will never outdps shatters(unless they nerf them to hell), they have nearly equal survivability too.
WvWvW though… well, I just avoid it. Loosing at least 1/3 of content there, pardon, sucks.

And now they’ve added Urban Battleground fractal, that forces players into ugly flame legion boohoo to kill ascalonian humans.

With channeled abilities – yes.
With gtae – nope.
Even for PvP it doesn’t make any sense. You can’t block a Well or a Trap Placement, either.
Well, it does make sense, remember that wells and traps are aoe, while phantasm summoning is targeted.
Ground targeted aoes ignore los to the certain extent and any channeled multihit ability ignores aegis and blind with the exception of one hit(even ours do that stuff).
Now now, just before you feel that bad, remember: people there are warriors. Maybe this is some kind of twisted roleplaying.

If you don’t mind being melee most of the time, yes.
No, no, you don’t get it. They only get the negatives from being attacks, not the positive. That would be a buff, and we know Arena-Net would sooner delete mesmer all together than give them anything but a weak buff so they can’t say that mesmers never get buffed.
That’s a bit over. Remember GS auto buff.
Even before this patch, good thief could just drop smoke field, grab shortbow and force most mesmers to flee due to tons of blind finishers.
The justification is you could block the spell that, if it hits, will mess with your mind, and if the Mesmer is blinded they won’t be able to aim the spell properly.
But channeled multiple-hit abilities like blurred frenzy and confusing images still aim and damage properly with the exception of one hit.
They haven’t fixed bug with attack delay and phantasm buffs, they gutted berserker’s damage, GS5 still gimmick, mind stab still nearly useless outside of boon stripping.
Which leaves GS1 and GS2 being mostly untouched.
Unacceptable.
Time to look at any good staff skins and retrait full shatter.
If an Elementalist casts meteor storm and the opponent dodges, at least there’s still a fire field on the ground to use.
Meteor Shower is storm, not combo field.
Also necro pets do not run though/up walls to attack players, even teh ranged ones will almost never target/hit a player on a wall. Ive seen my wurm look like he was attacking, but i never say any damage in my combat logs

However, man, you still have your marks! Not much, but at least something to slap that smartkittens on walls. We lost our only reliable way to deal damage. Buggy damage, surely.
Our second “only way” is jumping while skill still casting in hopes it will fire.
That’s dem good question, guess people will have to brainstorm something like a variation of good old boonbomber with glyph and stuff… how it will perform in solo pve, that’s another story. Less arcane, more water\earth, I guess.
And the LoS thing? absolutely broken as it was. Some of the comments I’ve seen……. >.> you can swap to staff on sieges, I do, and I have no problem hitting targets on walls. You know what? lets have thief summoned thieves not need LoS, and Elementalist and Necro pets! All pets! any pets!.
To start with, ele and necro pets don’t need any target to be summoned, therefore they don’t care about los. Not sure about thieves guild though.
And any normal mesmer will never use storm on wall. Why? Because it’s better to throw it in the bunch of your allies and grant some of them aegis, then deal laughable 800 crit to that guy on wall.
I’m not too familiar with other classes, but what skills do other professions have that can hit people on walls who aren’t in line of sight?
Elementalist has meteor shower, eruption, lava font(traited with blasting staff – better), ice spike, glyph of storms, ice bow’s storm, fiery greatsword’s firestorm.
Although usefullness of some is arguable(who will waste his own elite on GS for what, firestorm? big cd), but others are legit and all do damage.
So, I tested it in-game and it’s worse than you think.
Not only they’ve made LoS changes, they’ve made damage changes.

We can. You’ll have to use skill, then jump during it’s animation. Obviously, this is highly annoying.
Mantra build’s dps is arguably best we can squeeze from our traits, but in exchange of little freedom of utility skills. Means, if you need feedback, you lose damage. Same goes with blink or decoy.
In pve, specially dungeons, that’s pain.
