This whole update is unfair to the people who have been playing this game for a long time and don’t need all this level gating.
We have the right to provide feedback and voice our complaints when a product we payed for and invested in has been changed for the worse (at least for many of us).

Attract new players by actually improving the game or large amounts of new content.

Only 7 levels?
It’s been like that for months. Ever since crafting was increased to 500. You still get 10 levels, but only if you go all the way to 500, which is expensive as hell.
And the crafting professions that can’t yet go to 500 also just give 7 levels for 1-400.
~Sincerely, Scissors
How many levels does 1-400 give now?

it’s cute that people think that anet will make guild halls…
can’t find right now the link but it has been already stated that they do not plan/think to do guild halls in the near future
so even if they make guild halls in 1 year from now well it will be “too little too late”
Yea they said many things in the past that they didn’t follow up on. People and policy’s change with time.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Lol and they said they would never add new Hearts again, ever.
Not that I’m complaining, the heart quests are a great way of doing quests.
~Sincerely, Scissors
but the meat of guild changes are typically GvG, Guild Halls, more puzzles and missions and Raids. Stuff that requires a lot more work (i imagine).
But if that’s what the community wants, then that is what Anet should focus on imo.
If they make a CDI about logistics and QOL, but everyone suggests introducing guild halls, then maybe it is time to actually focus on guild halls.
Besides it falls under QOL if you think about it. What could be more QOL then a special place all guild members could teleport to with many useful facilities?
~Sincerely, Scissors
Oh, you could probably pull off a couple… but if you do it enough people will notice a trend even if they can’t prove any individual case. Best-case scenario is you get people who are too scared to publicly object – but that just drives the dissent underground where it may well boil over without warning.
Unless they all die at the same time. Ministers often gather in one place, wether it’s for official business or one of their parties. If they all die there at the same time and you do it right you can blame it on some other party (white mantle maybe by planting some forged evidence) or make it look like an accident. Or use the grizworl they confiscated and let them kill eachother, then tell to the people you are as confused as they are as to why the ministers would just start killing eachother in a frenzy. Really, the possibilities are endless
Then Jennah has to give some touching speech about how great of a loss this is.How the ministry was the backbone of the krytan govermental system and by taking that out, however did this must have done it to weaken her position. Tell them White Mantle involvement is suspected but don’t point fingers immediately, pretent you’re in the dark just like your people, at least in the beginning. Let that sink in for a while.
Then in the middle of the night, order shining blade members (under the guise of mere street criminals/bandits of course) paint threats on walls around the Upper City, with texts like You are next!
Then during a second speech later on, Jennah annouces that White Mantle involvement has been confirmed. Then a staged assassination attempt ensues, one that fails obviously (maybe with the same mesmer trick they used against scarlet). This would make the people less and less suspicious about the queen and anyone saying it’s all a conspiracy won’t be taken seriously and regarded as one of those tinfoil hat people (not literally, but you know what I mean).
Anyway, I could go on forever like this. The point is, if you do it right, anything is possible
~Sincerely, Scissors

Looks like it got changed from a scaled down full-texture full-polygon Eir mesh to a separate low-poly low-texture full-size mesh. If you consider the performance cost of rendering another fully textured player constantly among other minis, that makes sense and I won’t be surprised if other minis got similar treatment before the “permanent minis” patch. Not saying that I approve of such drastic measures, though.
One step forward:
Miniature slots
Two steps backward:
Miniature culling
Miniature graphics downgrade

Might I ask exactly what you mean by “Logistics and Quality of Life”? I assume this isn’t encompassing possible guild related content we’d like to see, but would like to have full clarity on exactly what’s on the table for discussion
hi,
No problem. Logistics includes communication, member management, tools etc.
QOL are ideas for improving existing systems in the functionality.
Hope that helps.
Chris
Oh… so Guild Halls are not up for discussion?
~Sincerely, Scissors
I know this has already been suggested a billion times before, but this seems the right place to bring it up again.
Goal of proposal
Introducing Guild Halls.
Goal overview
This was a very usefull and much loved feature in Guild Wars 1 and I sincerely believe guilds in Guild Wars 2 could profit from this.
proposal functionality
Guild members should be able to teleport to the Guild Hall from anywhere in the game through the guild panel. Once in the Guild Hall they could have access to a number of vendors (like the guild vendor) and possibly crafting stations. All this luxuries have to be unlocked by the guild leader/officers first of course, this can be done through either gold or influence/merits.
Not only will a guild hall be usefull to guild members, it will also be a nice place for guild members to socialize and meet up before guild events (like guild missions).
Associated Risks
Less population in cities could be a result to introducing guild halls depending on exactly what kind of facilities the Guild Hall contains.

Also of note I am not going to be able to get involved in the CDI past 6pm pst tonight. Is that still ok? I will catch up in the morning?
Chris
Sounds good. Will the CDI still be covering guilds as planned? Or will the topic be switched to discuss the new changes to the leveling system?
It will be about guilds.
Chris
Wait what? I’m saddened to hear this. I thought we were going to discuss the one big thing that is bothering the community right now. The new levelling system.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Though honestly it would have been hilarious if the option to turn this entire new system off had always been there and no one noticed until now.
The devs would just sit in there office looking at the forum laughing their butts off
~Sincerely, Scissors
But instead of simply going to the options menu and turning the new system off, they went to the forums,
le wut?
he thinks that turning of the compass alos bring the old leveling system back. SOMEHOW
Apparantly so. All I could do was remove the compass, which I couldn’t care less about.
It’s the level gating!
But instead of simply going to the options menu and turning the new system off, they went to the forums,
What was it you said about “having all the facts” hmm?
A hilariously failed attempt at being a smart mouth.
There is another kind of Forum Poster that I forgot to mention. This kind of Forum Poster is the worst kind. This kind posts on the forum without checking his facts
seems like you fit that category perfectly.

Chris thanks for listening.
Even if I’m very tempted to burn some one at the moment. And I’m sure many other people beside me were prepearing their torches and pitchforks.
But thanks still!Well thanks to everyone too for giving their constructive opinions. We love that, it is ill informed, assumption based criticism, that is time consuming and frustrating and certainly plain rude commentary is simply ignored.
Chris
I would very much like it if this new system for beginner players was made optional for beginner players only, as this is extremely frustrating for veteran players and altaholics. This could be done by either making this system only kick in on accounts who have no lvl 80 character yet or by adding a toggle in the options menu.
Thanks for listening.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Well that’s one of the things that made this patch so hilariously ridiculous. These ‘improvements’ to make things easier actually make the game harder. How does NOT having access to 90% of the game early on and having to wait much longer before you actually obtain usefull skills make the game easy?
~Sincerely, Scissors
I really want to know from what method they gather feedback other than forum, reddit. Where that “majority” is?
Anet has very detailed metrics.
‘Detailed’ does not mean ‘correct’.

It’s too confusing. -LOL
I know right. It made my head spin.
~Sincerely, Scissors
@Windu: Probably because there are only so many “accidents” and “natural causes” that can be arranged before people start to become suspicious – and most ministers are people who are either popular or otherwise powerful in their own right. All it takes is one slip-up on the part of the Shining Blade and word will get out that they’re assassinating the monarch’s political opponents, and then the civil war starts as all the monarch’s other opponents decide that they have to remove the monarch now or risk being next, and rally support via painting the monarch as a murderer.
Not if you do it right
Wouldn’t be the first time political opponents were removed this way in real life.

meanwhile some other guy opens 3 chests and gets the unlimited hair contract.
I may have missed this, so please forgive me, but is the permanent hair contract back in the RNG pool for good? I seem to recall that it was for two weeks only but heard it was still dropping for some people. I looked in yesterday’s patch notes but viewed nothing specific about the hair contract other than the drop percentage for all contracts was being slightly raised.
No that’s just me being pessimistic regarding rng. I don’t know if someone actually got it. But I’ve seen it happen many times before where someone farms their kitten off for some expensive item and gets nothing, then some other lazy dude gets it by purely by chance without any effort. That’s why I hate rng.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Who in their right mind would ever buy a character expansion slot now?
I did and I am enjoying it.
I don’t get what others find entertaining with rushing the game with a new char, enjoy what is given to you when you reach the level needed to gain it. The point for this is so you will have a slow and easy way of learning your character while getting to level 80 where the game starts.
I can read why so many complain but it puzzles me to why they even complain becouse it is not such a big deal. Before it was just a level and I said ‘yay level up… Soon I am level 80’ but now I have more or less something to look forward to for every level I gain.
The only complaint I have wich I havent tried myself but I trust the posters about it and that is how screwd up the downleveling system works with the new stats so that you get powerspike and suddenly you get worse each level and suddenly another powerspike and so on.
What is this obsession with “I must have each level up be important! Even if I have to eviscerate progression to do it!”? I just want to play my kitten characters and use their skills. Both of these feature packs have made me feel like an idiot for waiting to level my alts in what was supposed to be a “new and more interesting” system. Whelp, kitten that I guess. I don’t want to be forced to either use a shortcut or grind hearts to progress. I don’t want to be locked out of the QoL skills that make exploring easier (Air 4 on Staff for ele for example). I don’t want to play this forced tutorial that tries to teach via osmosis.
Well obviusly whe are two totally different persons then. I hope that the majority of GW2 players like these new changes and that these buuhhuu posts are made of the same 10 people over and over again so that they are a minorty since I hope these changes will stay.
Some people just want to watch the world burn..
I guess there must always be ‘that guy’ who revels in the misery of others and can’t resist to be smug about it on the forums.

I opened about 130 boxes, here is the stuff I only cared about:
18x tomes of knowledge
3x Black Lion Weapon Tickets (all from scraps)
2x Total Makeover KitsThat was about it. RNG is the death of me after all that farming.

Lol. Anet will never roll back. They do not care what vet players think.
Why do you assume the vets are always right. Was this created for the Vets Only…Noobs Need Not Apply? No, it was made with everyone in mind. You created your toon already and you got it to level 80. You got your money worth out of the game with the thousand of hours you put into it. You are not opening your wallet anymore because vets should have a ton of gold ready to be converted to gems.
So tell me…why should they cater to you? Or maybe it’s just time to move on to other games or maybe RL.
Because us vets are the loyal players who have played this game for months/years and (at least me) still invest in it.
How are you investing in it? By being a drain on their server? We vets don’t put any money into it any more. We farming the crap out of it and convert it to gems…that doesn’t translate to real life money.
I buy gems on a regular basis, yes with real money. Does that make me a drain on their server? The gem conversion rate is off the scale, has been for months.

this thread. the few people here. theyre the reason that even after 2 years, some problems remain unsolved. it's because of these people, these white knights who keep patting them on the back trying to reassure them that nothing is wrong. especially a certain person here. whenever there's a so-called 'complaint' thread, even if the points the author posted were valid, he still keeps trying to convince everyone that nothing is wrong. when you try to confront them and call them out? your post magically get deleted.
It’s also because Anet only focuses on metrics instead of on the people who actually take the time to come here and give feedback.

Are you a new player?.. No? Well — I am.
I know the bank access at lvl 24, the downed state at lvl 5, the waterskills at lvl 22 might frustrate the lot of ya, crying wolf over how easy it is now.
I on the other hand — a new player (1 month of play) — can’t begin to tell you how complex GW2 is compared to other MMO’s. About a month ago I kept being underlevelled for new zones, I thought I’d do all the hearts and then leave the area. Didnt know you could trigger quests, didnt understand what was happening when I got downed, didn’t know you could port from waypoint to waypoint.
I mean… I learned all that, but the new guidance seems great.
Yes Guild Wars 2 is definitely complex compared to other MMO’s……
\
That is WoW with a crap ton of mods, not really a good comparison.
Actually it is. Since most people on there use addons.
But you can just google: ‘mmo UI’ and find dozens of UI’s many times more complex than GW2.

This can’t be for real… Was this faked somehow?
I haven’t leveled a new character in a while so I wasn’t too concerned with the new leveling changes… but this can not be for real…
I’m afraid it is. Anet believes that the majority of it’s playerbase intellect can be put to shame by a bag of hammers.

lol.. that’s a nice one..
LOL I dunno how some people can defend this type of kitten. They should just get rid of the prologue altogether. It’s freaking useless.
OMG when he was directed to frostgorge I lolled.
Vayne will defend this stuff. Read his posts-he employs logic in a way he thinks the vast majority of casuals think.
Probably because he actually needs this stuff to properly play the game.

I don’t have a problem with the new Trading Post and Hero layouts, or extra achievement categories, or the Crazy Taxi arrow, or multi-color Doritos™, and if anything I’m extremely happy with the majority of the class balance changes and added PvP visual cue options.
No one is complaining about that part. People are complaining because they are being treated like 5 year olds with an IQ below 10 and the fact our levelling process has been severly hindered by it.

This doesn’t “do anything” to me. I’m not sure why you think it could. Let’s see, a guy with a nice voice, who is dripping with sarcasm tries to make a patch look stupid with opinions. I’m not quite through with it yet, but at least some of it I have to question immediately. Like not being able to die in the tutorial instance. That’s not knew because I’ve known about that for like a year. Except that the video is attributing it to this patch. So, if you don’t have your facts correct to start with, why should I believe the rest of it?
The reason I think they did that is because there are no waypoints in the tutorial, btw.
All this does is show me a guy who doesn’t get it.
To be sure not every single change is going to be perfect. I don’t think that the elite needs to be held off until 40, but the truth is, it makes very very little difference in the game to me. Very little.
But all the little things I’m getting while getting up to forty make a quite nice difference in the game for me.
So what made you think that video would affect me at all?
Well if you like these changes so much then they will probably do wonders for you.
