I’m starting to think that Hero Points are not going to be the way to unlock the Elites then.
Exactly, since anet has not said I am not assuming it will be HPs and it will be 250 of them. For all we know we get some new currency and will use that.
Then why are there HP’s in the new maps? They would be useless.
Why do we have the challenges in the old maps when you get enough points just by leveling?
Because we used to need them when they were still skillpoints (they were also used as currency for several crafting materials). An excuse POF does not have.
I meant I was here while we were still under that system. Since that is not the system now the only purpose they serve is to get things sooner. Why not just remove them, right? It sounds like they have heard us that people want to play the elites from the start.
I think the devs didn’t remove them because simply changing the name of the skillpoints was easier than removing all of them.
I want to unlock my spec immediately on release too. That’s why i have 250 hp’s ready to go on my second set of characters. And I think the HP’s in POF are there for people who do not have HoT, and will need the extra HP’s.

And why are there more mastery-points available than needed to max out all masteries?
How is that relevant? We are not talking about mastery points, we are talking about hero points.

From what I have heard, the actual implementation of LWS1 was anything but fun.
You heard right. The actual story of LS1 is quite nice, but the implementation and delivery was awful and waaaay too spread out. It’s great to experience all at once in a 3 hour movie, not so great to experience in tiny slivers over the course of 2 years.
I still remember the profound feeling of disappointment I had with a lot of the chapters when I realised there wasn’t more story in them. Especially in the beginning many chapters had me go like “..That was it?”
Though I admit I am kinda biased against LS1 because it didn’t release the type of content that I wanted personally. I wanted more instanced story missions (like personal story) and I wanted new zones, not just keep hanging around in the areas that I already know. So when LS2/LS3 started delivering just that, I was over the moon. And just looked back at LS1 as “That really bad one”. Only in the last few releases it started to become good, but that was too late imo.

last weekends demo was pve style.
Because it was about showing off the new Crystal Desert map and mounts, both are PvE only content. So it made sense for that demo to focus on PvE only.
This demo however is about Elite Specs, which are not limited to any game mode, so neither should the demo.

Hero Points for the upcoming Elite Specializations?
Welcome return, and good luck.
That’s what I did, have enough now to unlock every spec on release lol

They have already replied saying that they lost them so keep on waiting mate.
I can still preview the weapons so the textures/models obviously still exist. Also you would think that a company like anet has backups.

1) Waypoints are faster.
And a lot less immersive. This is something I always liked in WoW, when you travel through the world you are actually travelling through the world, not teleport anywhere instantly with zero effort. Waypoints made Tyria feel incredibly small. Apart from a few exceptions (like portals between cities) you shouldn’t be able to travel from one side of the world to the other in a second. Unfortunately it’s too late to remove them now, they are simply too integrated into the game. But at least now with mounts I can ignore them and still travel efficiently.
2) They do nothing new.
They do what mounts are supposed to do, make you travel faster. That’s all that’s required of them.
3) It’s not a realistic approach.
It’s not realistic to use swords, bows and catapults in a world where we have automatic rifles, tanks, helicopters and combat mechs either, yet we do. It’s a common theme in many games where new and old tech are being used together, it’s not realistic no but it is fun, and that’s all that counts.
4) They don’t fly.
We have gliding already.

The problem with this change is that by fusing the shoulders with the chest, they now share the same dye channels. Which makes it impossible to dye them properly.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Lol they can never ever get this right can they?
I asked (and eventually complained) about this a lot. The Shoulders (which cost 20g) were invisible, they just did not show up. Which is ridiculous. Eventually they “fixed” it by giving female Asura the male version. Which is even worse because it has gigantic rubbery ear flaps.
Eventually after many complaints they reverted that change. I never asked for a fix again afterwards because I knew they would probably mess it up anyway. Now they have…
Seriously how hard is it to, after 5 years no less, just fix the darn shoulders!
Don’t fuse them with the chest piece, don’t give us the male version, just make them visible when you equip them, invisible when you unequip/hide them. like every other shoulder piece in the game!. Why is that so hard to understand?

The mastery point that requires you to pick up and throw food at Master Chef Laraib (in Crystal Oasis) doesn’t work. You can pick up the food but you can’t throw it. Nothing happens when I try to throw the food at him (or anywhere else for that matter) the throw skill is just completely unresponsive.

Also I wanted to give a small update on the progress of the ‘Entangled’ story comic. It’s currently progressing quite slow, but I plan to speed it up very soon. It’s currently at page 12.

For as long as GW2 exists, everytime someone asked for mounts there was always at least one person saying “This isn’t wow!”. Always made me facepalm.
Anet should really remove the round health bar, this isn’t diablo! /s
Anet should really remove the gathering of materials, this isn’t runescape! /s
Anet should really remove regenerating health, this isn’t Halo! /s
Literally every feature/mechanic GW2 has, exists in another game that came before it. Doesn’t mean it’s a clone of anything.

no tutorial, new players are forced to do extensive research by consulting various websites and asking other players
Forced to do extensive research? Are we playing the same game? Early PvE is the easiest thing ever. I remember when NPE was released I just couldn’t stop laughing, I felt like I was playing with one of those baby shape sorter toys.
breaking the game’s style by adding more and more futuristic designs (weapon sets, armor sets, outfits, story gadgets)
I assume this due to the new Exo-Suit outfit. Futuristic elements like this have been a part of the game ever since Asura were first introduced. With the Asura, we have Robots, Forcefields, Computers systems, energy weapons, teleporters, holograms, long range communication systems and much more. The Exo-Suit doesn’t break anything, Tech like that is part of the world. Besides a very similar suit has been in the game since launch (see Asura Heavy Cultural T3).
weapons undyeable
I agree on that one, though I can sorta understand why the devs never implemented that. Adding dye channels to all weapons will significantly increase their workload.
constantly new bugs
Just like every online game ever. Everytime a game is patched (online games are patched a lot), it fixes bugs but also adds new ones. It’s like playing wack-a-mole. Guild Wars 2 is no different.
story 100% monotonous (“Just follow your log.”), no choices given
The personal story had choices, allowing you to choose between different paths which result in getting different missions. It wasn’t much I admit, but it was something.
no personalized quests (race, personality or profession don’t provide any individualized content)
Apart from the personal story quests up to level 30, you are correct. There shouldn’t be any balance differences between races, but more different story quests would be really neat.
low replayability
Playing with different classes/builds added great replayability for me, the race specific story quests were nice too.
no new dungeons
Definitely agree there, it’s a shame Anet abandoned them.

The ship is indeed of Canthan design, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to Cantha. At best we get to see a ship that was sent from Cantha, at worst it’s just a Zephyrite ship.

Strangely enough, that exact same boat is also docked in LA, near that lobster.
I find it extremely odd that a ship of Canthan design is docked there.

I think the current gemstore is a lot easier to navigate, I can find what I need more efficiently now because everything is now sorted (gliders, outfits etc.)
On a different note, I noticed the exosuit + glider combo is only available for 7 days, but does the same count for the individual exosuit or exoglider?

Smooth as butter is very relative and your experience sounds very anecdotal.
With smooth as butter I mean smooth as butter.
Meaning 60+ fps at the highest settings.
Again I have no idea why, but that’s what I’m getting with Frostbite games.
~Sincerely, Scissors
I have an FX-8350 4.2ghz.
I get 50-60 fps in most areas, 30-40 in some cities and a few places in hot. Also when there are large zergs of people but in those cases I’ll just increase my culling settings and fps is smooth again.
My settings are all on high except shadows, reflections and shaders.
Shadows and reflections are the only settings that seem to have an impact on my FPS, the other settings have no effect whatsever. The only reason I keep shaders on medium is because I think high shaders in this game are ugly, makes everything look like latex.
The FX-8350 is a very average CPU, having problems with most new games these days. Except for games that use the frostbite engine, they all run as smooth as butter, even with my FX-8350 and on the highest settings, no idea why.

Just tried it for the third time, and this time Braham didn’t even follow me! He just stood all the way on the other side of the cave!
~Sincerely, Scissors
The HoT mission Roots of Terror is broken. After defeating the Chak Blitzer I am supposed to talk to Braham, and there is a green star above is head, but I can’t talk to him, making the mission impossible to complete.
I already did the mission twice in a row, both times I had the exact same bug. I did find a “solution” on reddit, saying you need to lure the Chak to Braham to make sure he attacks it (he just stands on the far side of the cave if you don’t) but that didn’t do anything. After he kills the Chak he is still unresponsive.
Can someone fix this please?
~Sincerely, Scissors
Just wanted to give a small update on how things are now.
-Made another Mini comic with Linna and the Norn from the ‘Broadcast’ story comic. (see below)
-The ‘A Skritty Situation’ comic is now completed and can be found in this folder.
-I started a new story comic called ‘Entangled’ which takes place in Ember Bay, it can be followed here. It only has 3 pages at the time of this post, but it will recieve new pages frequently.
That is all

Funny, at the time, the story of Living World Season One was decried as terrible. Even after it finished. It only became ‘good’ years later. Might be a case of ‘grass is always greener’, or something.
I really did not like Season 1 and I definitely did not get the impression it was all that popular back in the day. It only became ‘good’ afterwards because it left a large gap in the story for anyone who didn’t get to play it.
Watching a three hour movie maybe has given you a false impression of the storytelling back in the days, because Season 1 took place in two years. Storytelling in Season 1 was (especially in the beginnig) not very good.
Indeed. The actual story of LS1 is quite nice, but the delivery was absolutely terrible and waaaay too spread out. It’s a great story to see in a 3 hour movie. Not so much to play through in tiny pieces spread out over the course of 2 years.
I still remember the profound feeling of disappointment I had with a lot of the chapters when I realised there wasn’t more story in them. Especially in the beginning many chapters had me go like “..That was it?”

having absorbed not only a bloodstone’s magic, but enough of two Elder Dragons’ magic that they were put back to sleep.
Or at least, one Elder Dragon’s magic that it was put back to sleep. We’re not sure Jormag is asleep.
Isn’t that contradictory to what we already know about Elder Dragons? If I recall correctly, an Elder Dragon consumes a lot of magic, then when he has consumed enough goes back to sleep. Over time, the magic he has consumed dissipates, the dragon gets hungry, wakes up and starts eating again.
So shouldn’t draining a lot of magic from Primordus only make him more hungry and aggressive?

for the record, canon-wise mordremoth was the most destructive dragon
based on what? his tendrils tearing forts apart? all dragons do that
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Summit_Invitations#At_Stonewright_Steading
quote: “Exactly. Right now, Mordremoth is wreaking the most damage upon Tyria.”
“Right now”
So he was the most destructive dragon at one point in time, but not the most destructive dragon overall.
Let’s not forget Zhaitan raised an entire continent which caused a Tsunami that did massive damage to huge swats of land, destroying the Battle Isles and old Lion’s Arch in the process.

Mounts would likely be confined to the expansion maps if the rumors are true. I can’t see them adding them to other areas as that could cause more issues than gliding.
They should be allowed all over Tyria with the exception of jumping puzzles (similar to how gliding works).
It’s going to happen. It’s a huge potential money maker – just look at this thread and realize there is a reason this was merged together with 4 years of forum posts..there is a reason for that.
Then look at the test case of WoW and releasing a Fellbeast looking flying mount. They sold digital assets reaching over what some MMOs make during their lifetime within one week of release (something that probably took no more than a few people a couple of weeks to create (art assets) and implement with current tech).
What makes flying mounts epic? Take water combat mechanics and put it in the air with full z-axis movement.
I think it would be better to confine mounts to the expansion areas initially. Then later on, after the devs have made some adjustments to the older maps, they can allow mounts everywhere. Similar to what they did with Gliders.

I don’t get why there’s a Ministry to begin with, Kryta already has a Monarch.
Having two seperate governing bodies with their own armies leading a single nation is a recipe for disaster.Logan answers this question in the Dead Sister storyline.
Basically, the Ministry existed for a while but never had much power – they were, it seems, a method for the royal family to know the problems of the whole nation easily. The Ministry gained power with Jennah’s father’s death, because it happened when Jennah was too young to take the throne without supervision. Ever since Jennah was officially crowned and was able to rule alone, the Ministry has simply refused to give up their power – no doubt in large due to Caudecus’ power hunger.
Similarly, it was this refusal to give up power, combined with the rising centaur threat (causing the Seraph to be thinned out), that gave birth to the Ministry Guard, who began as simply mercenaries hired independently by the Ministry – they united to form the Ministry Guard. No doubt the first mercenaries having been White Mantle agents hired by Caudecus and those loyal to him.
I see, interesting.
