I have a feeling this entire “Dragon’s Watch” is going to be a total disaster.
So far we only have 3 members, only 2 of which are actually acting like it. The other ones are either AWOL, forced doing something else or being complete ***holes toward us.
Let’s go through the roster:
Taimi – Currently the only one that actually acts like a member of Dragon’s Watch.
Rytlock – Also did really well but is currently under arrest.
Rox – Currently has to make sure Braham doesn’t end up getting himself killed.
Kasmeer – Currently the most useless of the bunch, haven’t seen her once this season.
Marjory – Basically gave you the middle finger and left with Lazarus.
Braham – Currently the single greatest ***hole in the game, would not want him in Dragon’s Watch even if all of Tyria depended on it.
When this whole “Dragon’s Watch” thing was first announced I was really looking forward to it. I thought it would be like Season 2 and HoT, where we as an entire group went on to do missions. But apparantly all of a sudden each member either hates me, has other things to do, or just doesn’t care (except Taimi). Great going so far…

What if we as the player character are not meant to kill every single Elder Dragon on our own
We never did. Zhaitan was killed by Destiny’s Edge and the entire Pact (which included the commander). Mordremoth was also killed by the entire Pact and Dragon’s Watch (which again included the commander).
Killing Elder Dragons is and always has been a group effort.

If people quit buying outfits and only bought armor, we’d have more armor and less outfits. I have bought exactly one outfit, and I regretted it.
Anet used to only release armors, people bought them. And anet still decided to create outfits instead of armors. So I doubt that would change anything.

In the beta we had the ability to take High Definition screenshots. These screenshots came in a much larger resolution than you were actually using. But it was removed on launch because there were some problems with it.
Over 4 years later, could it finally be possible to get it back? As someone who often creates GW2 artwork, it would do wonders for me and I’m sure others would like it back as well. I understand this isn’t exactly a high priority feature and I don’t expect much to come of this request, but still I had to try and ask.
(BTW, I’m aware of the ability to make .bmp screenshots by adding -bmp to the shortcut command line, but that just isn’t the same)

Will it have a new zone again though? I certainly hope so.
It says it will continue the story in the northern shiverpeaks, but that could just as easily be Frostgorge.

Next LW episode is here on November 21th!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avwqxSGaq3Y&feature=share
~Sincerely, Scissors
There’s been speculation that there will be an update in November, which obviously won’t be tomorrow since they haven’t announced it, but could be the 22nd or 29th.
If it’s even worth speculation, we probably won’t get it until after Thanksgiving. It’d be foolishly cruel to set out a big patch before a major family holiday. If we’re getting one, it’ll probably be sometime into December.
Imo it would be more foolish to let players from all over the world wait because one country is having a holiday. But considering Anet is based in the US that’s probably exactly what will happen…
Oh well. I’d be fine with waiting a few weeks more… if we got some info! I want to know more about the next episode already! The wait isn’t what’s killing me, it’s the lack of information.

Three reasons:
Elitism, Short on time, It’s not fun.
~Sincerely, Scissors
I swear, this forum community is like the anti-fun police head quarters. You guys opposed raids, flying, mounts and even the first person view camera, and now look, there in the game and they make it wat more fun. Give change a chance you kittens!
1) what is fun for you may not be fun for others. Think about that before you accuse everyone wanting to keep the game less fun.
2) It’s ‘vehicles’ not ‘vehicals’
3) no one opposed the first person camera. And even if someone did, they were in the minority.
4) mounts are not in the game. Those silly gemstore toys are not mounts. But they are a nice compromise, so are gliders.
5) saying things like “you kittens” because people don’t want your suggestions to be implemented certainly won’t win anyone over.

Every comment on this thread seems to be an entire essay lol.
To me it seems pretty well established that Sylvari are dragon minions since not only does the entire plot of HoT revolve around this, it was also mentioned by the devs a few times around the time it was revealed. But oh wel, what do I know :P

One thing that’s far better about the current LA is that it’s properly defended. There are dozens and dozens of gigantic cannons stationed all over the city. There’s also a huge aerodrome with airships. Not to mention this time the city is made of solid mortar and stone, not crumbling rotting scrapwood like old LA.
You would think that if a city gets attacked so often, they would improve their defenses. Now they finally did.

even trivial stuff such as killing ambient creatures can be considered an achievement. Trivial does not neccessarily contradict the meaning of achievement.
So dailies are achievements. Glad we sorted that out.
~Sincerely, Scissors
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
You forgot an option in your pull:
- Delete daily achievement points from the game since dailies are not achievements.
Neither are the vast majority of all the other ‘achievements’ in this game.
I’ve seen you state this many times, It’s not going to happen, nor should it.
If we removed AP from every achievement that’s not really an achievement, then getting decent AP rewards would be pretty much impossible.

Blahh, I say no to this.
I already have ppl able to follow me with no permission, this would give them the power to now spy on my build/gear/‘style’ from afar with no permission. …I rather like my privacy. And yes I saw a lot of “You wear it for all the public to see” Yea I do, but I also just cannot run around naked can I? And I won’t wear something ‘ugly’ that i don’t find appealing either.
As far as the style thing goes…I’ve had someone ask me once in game bout mine. And then show up the next day completely copying it. Down to character model face color and kitten. LOL rather disappointed with that.(Specially cause I’m an Rper) Yea, Anet owns all the rights. But.. It did take me time to find something I myself thought of as unique and they made it, Un-unique.
I got no problem if people ask up front, I’ll say what It is I’m using and what dyes I’m using as well. And sometimes it can create a friendship, because it Keeps people TALKING to each other. Which I feel is important rather then snooping from afar to get the same result even if it is easier.
Bottom line: It’s invasive. I don’t support and want it in this game , that’s for sure.
Simple
Go to settings. Select ‘allow gear check’ turn off. Fixed
As has already been stated countless times, that wouldn’t work.
Fractal/raid groups would just make turning it on a requirement.

There is currently no enemy that would target Lion’s Arch.
None of the dragons are anywhere close to Lion’s Arch and we don’t have a villain that would be interested in destroying Lion’s Arch.
How about we destroy something else next? Maybe Divinity’s Reach?
Another city being destroyed would serve no purpose at this point, but there is something that probably will happen in DR given the krytan politics atm, the resurgence of the white mantle.
I think that’s off the table now.
The White Mantle is currently split and probably fighting amongst themselves. One group is lead by Caudacus, the other by Lazarus. And Lazarus has already stated that he has no interest in the Krytan throne.
Caudacus’s plan was to retake the Krytan throne using an army of Jade Constructs. But that plan blew up in his face (literally, see Bloodstone Fen). And now he lost half of the White Mantle to Lazarus.
I also doubt assassinating the queen alone would be enough for him to take over. Ever since the Caudacus’s mansion dungeon he doesn’t have nearly the same power he used to have in Krytan politics. Queen Jennah and the shining blade kept him on a short leash. If Queen Jennah were to die, it’s more than likely another minister would replace her.
I doubt we’ll see a resurgence anytime soon.

Divinity’s Reach being destroyed would be great. The problem is they’d probably try to rebuild it again.
I suspect you have something against divinty’s reach?
Personally I’d prefer a major attack on a city that has not been attacked yet. Currently we’ve had attacks on LA (Risen, Karka, Aetherblades, Scarlet) The Grove (mordremoth) and Divinity’s Reach (Scarlet).
That leaves the Black Citadel, Hoelbrak and Rata Sum.

Friend stuck in Mad King's Realm

Posted by: Windu The Forbidden One.6045
A friend of mine, a free player, went to the mad king’s realm on his lvl 23 character and now he can no longer leave. Everytime he tries to leave he gets this error message:
“Your teleport could not be completed due to level restrictions on your destination.”
I think this happens because leaving the Mad King’s Realm automatically teleports you to Lion’s Arch, which a player can’t enter before level 35. This seems like a pretty big oversight since it pretty much traps everyone below level 35 in the Mad King’s Realm.
Is there some other way for him to leave?

So.... ( Can we get kegs as a shoulder armour skin option for Norns?)
Posted by: Windu The Forbidden One.6045
Should be available for every race then, not just norn.
Unless Anet decides to add more cultural armor, in which case every race should get their own new armor.Any race can skin any cultural armor, can’t they? I thought you just had to be of a certain race to actually purchase it.
Nope. Cultural weapons can be used by any race, but cultural armour can only be worn by that race.
True. However there are instances of races wearing cultural armor of another race.
Councillor Flax (Asura) wears Human Cultural T3 for example.

This game needs more premade emote commands.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Windu The Forbidden One.6045
I would love more emotes as well. Not just for Role play but also for screenshots and artwork as well. Though I doubt we’ll see more emotes anytime soon. It took 4 years to get some new emotes and even those emotes were only added because they already existed in the game anyway. Anet just made them available for players to use.
Also as some people already said, some emotes you suggested are too similar to emotes we already have, or too hard to program. So I wouldn’t expect those if I were you. I also wouldn’t expect voiced emotes as it requires anet to call in all the voice actors again, I doubt they would do that just for a few emotes.
I have some suggestions of my own, it probably won’t go anywhere but who knows. I can at least try
Flex
beg
grovel
shy
bored
excited
moan
rock (or paper/scissors)
yawn
pout
Many of these are also in Guild Wars 1.

What I meant by that is that MMORPG’s are often meant to have a much longer lifespan. They are filled to the brim with mechanics meant to keep people in the game, progression that can last for years (like Achievement points, collections, Masteries etc.). Throughout the years these games usually get expansions and content updates that allow people to progress their characters more and more. With MMO’s a company will milk a game as long as possible, even if it takes many years (like wow for example).
Gw1 did something very similar, but it was CORPG. It contained a lot less grind and progression mechanics. You could reach max level in a day and it was a lot easier to get prestigious gear, there were no extensive progression mechanics. Which is perfectly fine of course, but that’s not the way MMO’s work. With GW1 every ‘expansion’ was basically a full blown standalone game (except Eotn). That’s really cool and all, but it’s also a lot more work.
You also don’t see
World of Warcraft 2, 3, 4
Runescape 2, 3, 4
EVE 2, 3 ,4
ESO 2, 3, 4
These games are all meant to run for many years (some already do) and gw2 is no different. That’s the way I prefer it, I’d like to see my characters grow over the course of many years, not start all over every 2,5 years.

Guild Wars 1 is a CORPG, or Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game.
Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG.That doesn’t work here. Stop using comparisons like that completely out of context.
Yes it does. I didn’t use anything out of context.
Gw1 was basically a singleplayer game with co-op and interactive lobbies (and a multiplayer mode on the side). Guild Wars 2 is a full on MMO. Different business models for different games. Period.
GW:Utopia has already been in developement.
So? As Just a Flesh Wound already stated, anet wanted to do more than gw1’s engine could handle, so they cancelled it and incorporated several of it’s elements into gw2.
~Sincerely, Scissors
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
In case you didn’t notice the OP said he had came from WoW and I was pointing out that WoW, which is a much older game and a much more dated game, doesn’t have plans to be remade. This game isn’t even 4 years old yet and there are posts asking for it to be essentially abandoned by the Devs
With that argumentation you could also ask why they’ve abandoned Guild Wars 1 and started GW2 instead of releasing GW:Utopia. They decided to put parts of that into EotN while adding other parts to GW2 (asuran regions) or HoT (chronomancer).
GW1 has been 2,5 years old when they released the last part – EotN.and for us all to be sitting around with no expansions or major content additions for who knows how many years while they make another game.
If people didn’t ask for an add-on we wouldn’t even have had HoT released. That request lead to a rushed concept, cutting content and a the ‘half expansion’ many people called it at release.
It’s both an annoying post as well as a pointless one as the Devs aren’t going to drop this game and the income from it to chase after another version of gw while this game is so young and they are still working on improving it.
Again, GW1: 2,5 years. They scrapped the last campaign Utopia and started GW2. So it happened before.
Guild Wars 1 is a CORPG, or Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game.
Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG.
You can’t really compare the two like that. Different business models/rules for different genres. MMORPG’s generally run a lot longer, and they should considering it takes a lot longer to ‘complete’ it.
~Sincerely, Scissors
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
No thanks, I would prefer it if anet just keeps developing GW2 for a long time. I don’t want to lose all my progress and start over. Maybe in 10 years when we’ve killed all the dragons and had a bunch of expansions, but not anytime soon.
~Sincerely, Scissors
yeah i only pve tbh, doing anything but pve is asking for an anxiety attack and ending up in the hospital or jail lol. idk im downloading the game now and hoping it goes good. I play warrior with the meta zerk build.
I don’t think the meta zerk build is that meta anymore. At least not in open world PvE when HoT/LS maps are concerned. The reason it was so popular is because you could do massive amounts of damage with little risk. Enemies in the vanilla zones do little damage and don’t move around much. They just stand brainless in your Hundred Blades and get slaughtered.
This is not the case with HoT mobs. They do a lot more damage and move around more. Raptors, Rolling Devils, Arrow Heads and those mobs that teleport for example (forgot the name). A zerk warrior can’t just face tank it all and focus on damage only. You will need to watch out more and time your dodges right.
I have a lot of characters, and while some still use full zerker, every character that I use in the new high level maps, uses a combination between damage and survivability, both in gear and abilities. You might want to do the same if you are having a hard time
~Sincerely, Scissors
and then the beauty of the song disappears quickly as im getting 2-3 shotted by trash mobs.
Are you talking about open world PvE? If so that’s quite an accomplishment considering open world PvE has always been a faceroll (except the HoT/Ls maps).
Are you sure you have the right gear for your character? Also what class do,you use? If you play on EU feel free to PM me and I could help you out

They also seemingly retconned much of the Mursaat lore with those tablets in Ember’s Bay. Basically the Mursaat are the missunderstood good guys all of a sudden.
X. The Forgotten allied with Glint and ignored the now to focus on the future. We mursaat… we returned and built a base among the Fire Islands, as strong as ever. The world will one day be ours.
Yep. Totally misunderstood good guys…. >.>
Funny how you only use that tiny sentence out of context support your argument. If you read the other tablets it clearly shows they were trying to save Tyria with the other races, but the other races supposedly betrayed/abandoned them and only after that, they said that the world will be theirs.
We will never forgive the other elder races for deserting us.
We soothed ourselves with the knowledge that, upon the other races’ annihilations the world would be ours.
And the tablets never even state that they (the Mursaat) would be the ones to conquer the world. They just assumed that the other races would get killed by the dragons, and all they had to do was stay in hiding and wait it out.

I’m more upset with the lack of resolution of plot holes and unanswered questions left behind by HoT. I’ll be more than happy to get worked up over the possible retconning once we get some actual, in-depth stuff on the Pale Tree, Zojja, Logan, the Nightmare Court, and if Treesus is gonna have an actual memorial like Eir got. :x
Yes that too, the fact all these important plot lines are completely dropped and unresolved drives me crazy.
The Pale Tree, Zojja and logan almost died and were in critical condition last we saw them. That’s kinda important to follow up on (this happened several times in the PS as well). I really don’t get what’s wrong with these writers. I would love to spend a day at Anet’s writing department and see what kind of weird things transpire there.

I hated most boss fights in LS season 2 because there was so much beating around the bush and annoying mechanics. Especially the one in glint’s lair, god that one sucked.. Just let me slash and hack at him until he dies..
I don’t mind giving the boss very powerful attacks that you need to dodge or take cover from. But any mechanic that makes me do something other than actually fighting the boss, I hate. I mean what is the point of a boss fight if you do not fight the boss.
What I would consider a good mechanic
Every now and then, the boss starts throwing grenades all over the place that have to be dodged or you will recieve loads of damage.
What I would consider a bad mechanic
The boss has some sort of shield that makes him immune to all damage. To lift this immunity, attack his minions who drop certain energy orbs. Throw those orbs at the boss, once you've thrown enough his immunity is lifted for 10 seconds, then you can fight him. Once his immunity is back, you do it over again.
(I hate mechanics like this with a burning passion)
I mean for raid, dungeon and world bosses I guess it makes sense, but not for story missions (imo).
