Lvl 80 Sylvari Guardian – Tzenjin [GF]
Lvl 80 Human Elementalist – Tzenkai [GF]
I dont want to insult anyones choice in Zeal here..
But i’ve always been a Meditation Guardian, and after this patch. Its only made the Zeal Tree look less and less viable for PvP imo.
I mentioned in a previous thread that this may be a preemptive precaution for future Dueling and 1v1s because of Retalition duration and dmg in the 1v1 setting is pretty ridiculous
(i would take friends on empty sPvP servers to test builds and duel so i know 1v1 pretty well as guardian, we are not weak. Technical, yes. And i believe we are the class that takes the most “Aiming” to get a hit as well with Warriors. Melee can be tough stuff bro)
But a nerf to SoW, targeted at retaliation. That doesnt affect retaliation (as far as im still concerned about the duration issue) is just over all confusing to me. Im not ENRAGED or about to start flaming. Im honestly left questioning what they could of been thinking?
I agree that this patch to us guardians seemed more about Symbols then actually about Retaliation. I have never tried a Symbols Build but i used a GS. Switching the locations of skills doesnt even bother me that much.
But if the problem is with Retaliation, why reduce the dps and not actually adjust the Retaliation. Unless this patch is precursor to a future update for retaliation.
Too many “If’s” for my liking. I’d rather get my info from the source and would love a Developers input to set the rumors, speculation, and uncertainty with in our class community to rest.
- Tzenjin
Our Whirling Wrath is fine. Our Leap of Faith was fine (and im pretty sure we got a reduced cooldown on it). Our Binding Blade is fine. Our Auto-Attack is fine.
20 Sec CD on Symbol of wrath? Not the end of the world. Its not like i was always itching to use it (depends on your build i know)
We’re not underpowered by any means. But i didn’t know we we’re overpowered or in need of fixing. Retaliation can be powerful siutationally, i used it for warriors Hundred Blades, Thief’s, and Short Bow Rangers, but i thought that was our Trade-Mark of sorts, being a Boon Based Profession since the beginning.
Thiefs can crit over 10k (or so i’ve heard) and as a guardian that is built damage i have trouble reaching 5k with a Dead-On Whirling Wrath. (Against an enemy of my own lvl in WvW, were not talking about getting crits on the lowbies, those are fun crits not real crits). Guardians being placed in the lowest tier healthpool isnt a secret either. So a condition dmg thief or a good warrior could plow through us, if we’re caught off-guard. Even when we are on-guard its still a struggle.
retaliation only works wonders in 1v1. Which currently there is no real or organized system for 1v1. Which only makes me wanna think we got this balance BECAUSE a 1v1 is coming soon.
But still, being a “Boon” and the definition of a Boon being something in which gives you a benefit, its only natural to want to stack something that appealing if you have the want or power too. But it seems like to me that the average guardian is being told that using Retaliation like that goes against “developer intentions”.
Before anyone gets on what i say and says “blah developers are wrong” or “developers messed up”. Give them a chance to explain. That all i’d want is an explaination on what their plan is, hopefully more then a couple sentences worth but and actually explaination of the proper theory of retaliation as it is now, as well as, if they plan to alter it any further.
Again not mad, not going to quit, not going to threaten. Doesnt get me anywhere. Im just curious and Anet has always been responsive in the past.
Thanks guys.
-Tzenjin
I’d just like some clarification on what they meant?
Things like the 25% Retaliation Duration Increase in the Virtues tree use to be one of my go-to traits too choose. But now im confused as to what that actually does for me now… I mean they explicitly said “Rather then a general boon to keep up all the time”.
To me it sounds like Anet is tell me, i shouldnt be stacking duration on Retaliation and that i’m some how using a “broken skill” by doing so.
In WvW As a guardian (particularly a GS/Hammer/Sword+Shield) you have to get into a fight close range. Which means your on the Front Line which is the first to get targeted. Whether its by one person or a couple your getting fired upon on with Big Hitting Attacks and Multi-Hitting Attacks. Is my retaliation less effective now in those situations?
Anet if your reading this. Im not mad, i’m just really confused. As a player i notice tooltips not reflecting certain key factors of abilities. Patch notes are vague when “new ideas” are introduced. Its easy to under stand a percentage nerf (hence pistol whip reduction), hard to understand a mechanic-nerf without input directly from the developers.
I hope i’ve made an easy to understand message and i look forward to a informative reply when you’re able to. Thanks guys.
-Tzenjin
Im curious to know what Anet planned retaliation to be now.
The wording they used in the patch notes is very vague to me and i cant quite grasp their meaning by what they mean by turning it into a counter vs a boon to keep up?
Anet,
My understanding of a boon in general is something that benefits your character and something you’d want to keep on you as long as possible (if managable through skills/utilities chosen by the players personal preference)
Meaning… If i turned my character into something that just about always generates retaliation. (Aegis breaking / signet of judgement / Save Yourselves / Hold the Line ) wouldnt i be breaking what this patch for guardians was all about? Or am i not allowed to stack Retaliation in duration any more?
Im confused Anet. You changed my GS skill locations and made me question how i should be using Retaliation (lest i use it wrong in the heat of battle and get killed for it)
Please ellaborate for me

Trinity is still in game because Aegis and Regeneration stack duration. Making a three tier group configuration optimal, if not required for all the “non-bads”.
I’m not gonna get into difficulty and tanking/healers being able to pull groups thru or teamwork. I’m not gonna figure out how to fix the game mechanics no do I trust NCSoft to do so given there record with “fixes” so far.
Simple solution NERF STORY MODE for us casuals who want to run dungeons with whatever bads we want and leave Explore alone. Just look the numbers for story modes before and after the “fix” either you are dropping players like crazy or you messed something up badly with the fix.
If your concerned about easy loot and xp farming reducing the number of people using the cash shop maybe you should take a look at the camps in cursed shore and the world bosses and crafting in general for quick XP. Maybe you need to implement some DR on crafting and salvaging. Besides you already “fixed” the xp and loot on story modes.
They did nerf story mode…

I don’t mean to sound whiney, but specifically making a build to wait for someone on 20% health to attack me doesn’t seem like a reasonable way of playing, regardless of how fun it might be if/when it does happen.
Who said my build was made for Retaliation?

@Svarty
Maybe it was an exaggeration to saying “kill themselves” but i’ve popped Save Your Selves, on top of virtues, standing on a SoW, and healing through and giving myself enough additional health to allow for that. It was sPvP and i was wearing a berserker amulet.
He must of been down to atleast 10-20% hp and thats being generous, he turned tailed and tried to run. Pulled him back with a Binding Blade and WW off of it. He died.
Believe me or not, it doesnt matter to me. Not saying he was the best warrior or im the best guardian. But thats what happened.
Edit: Try it out man, grab a warrior friend and find a sPvP server with no one in it and have a ball. Stack for power, pop save yourselves, or w/e retaliation you want a test how much dmg he’ll do agaisnt himself.
(edited by Wizardauz.3761)
I’m surprised nobody mentioned BOULDERS.
Seriously, boulders are like a security blanket for AC story. And downright necessary for a certain “couple”.
This man speaks truth. Boulders are you best friends.
Anyone who stacks magic find is an embarrasment. SURE 100%+ magic find i bet is great…. for your wallet. But you can still have normal gear and get Magic Find through food and still pull in a pretty penny.
Actually i really suggest it too for your dungeons Jibbie. Look up Omnomberry Bars on the Trading Post and get yourself a couple (If you lvl 80)
Greens are fine if they’re current with your level and supply good stats (Dont stack magic find….)
Exotics and all those help make it easier.
Dont open all the coffins at once at the beginning. Just…dont. You will regret it.
Yeah first room you’ll walk into is a room full of coffins and a locked door at the end of the room. Opening the chests will spawn little spiders, silver-ringed enemies, or cause a Gatekeeper Boss to spawn in which you have to fight in order to unlock the door at the end of the room.
(last tip)
Ok! A no worries on the newbs, always room to get better.
But i will say that in my experience i found AC story to be the hardest of most of the stories. Not impossible. Just not easy.
You should watch out when pulling regular Silver-Ringed mobs. Trust me a group of 2-3 mobs can sometimes be harder then some of the bosses just because of them running around and attacking multiple people.
I suggest a couple things.
Last and most importantly, dont give up. It will seem ridiculously hard at first. You will die, you will spend money repairing, you most likely might get frustrated. But its designed to push ur playing to the limits. I never seen PvE that needed so much more skill then just knowledge. Coordination is key.
Thats my 2 cents. Good luck with AC!
Story or Explorable?
Retaliation isnt something to rely on in a multi-person fight. To my experience, 2 or more people focusing fire on you do too much dmg for retaliation to be game-changing.
You’d be intentionally trying to dodge and avoid dmg in that scenario to keep yourself up to fight them. And every second your aren’t being attack with Retaliation up is just wasted Retaliation.
Retaliation is great in 1v1. Helpful in multiple enemy encounters but does nothing more then just some spare added dps. Your better off relying on your dodge skills, CC, and dmg in that scenario
Any thread about builds turns into a conversation about trait placement and opinions on them lol especially on the ones they feel might be bugged or dont pull as much weight as others.
Its also the best part of this game, the fact that so many people have come up with different styles and builds (of course most of them claim theirs is supreme or gives the most advantage) but still there really hasnt been a Cookie-Cutter copy/paste build.
Only people who havent number crunched or put much effort into building something or testing it, they’ll look to the ones that have and post on the forums about it. Not that its bad but its just the way it goes.
“Learn to LOS like a boss.
lol
I don’t go anywhere alone. Guards are designed to run with a pack. If you’re trying to run lone wolf you rolled the wrong class.”Every class in this game is designed to roll with a pack. The downed state mechanic especially helps make sure a very skilled player will have, mechanically, a more difficult time against 2 moderate/bad players. Can he win? Depends on how kitten the two enemies are, but one thing is for certain—as long as the downed state persists, the game is helping whoever has the advantage. All classes seem to have a buddy-buddy skill, so guardians really aren’t specifically set out to be in a group, I believe that’s just how this game functions.
It rewards people for just forming a big group and stomping. In WoW you could have people going out solo, downing two players and creating epic moments; in this game fighting two players who are bad is more annoying than satisfying (that was WoW back in the day, I don’t know what kind of kitten fest it has turned into now).
Running with the pack is just how to play here. Makes things simple, nicer, easier, casual, successful.
Your choice to only run with a pack and to admit you cant handle anything alone is whats going to make you weak at your class.
Believe it or not, i have no trouble taking on people 1v1 in sPvP. even 2v1 i can still almost take out an enemy or down atleast one of them.
If you really find the most fun with running with the mob, then by all means do it. In WvW its necessary for the mob of allies to rush and distract so the organized commando groups can precision strike at certain areas without being bothered too much.
Sorry to say but the point of the mob you run with is to be Cannon Fodder and Human Shields
Only reason i could find to go a full 30 Zeal is for the +300 power and condition duration. I’d grab fiery wrath, GS +5% dmg, and either Zealous Blade or Shattered Aegis.
The major mastery’s dont seem all that great… but the 300 power…. thats the only thing i can think of being a major plus

Retaliation is a boon which reflects some incoming damage back to its source. Damage returned is fixed per level and scales with power, increasing damage by 1 for every 13.4 power. At level 80, base damage is 267.
From the official wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Retaliation
Thanks for clearing that up, i totally forgot you can just go to the wiki and see for youself :P
Hear that Developers!
Whoever came up with that Laser Field. Your awesome…. and Cruel lol
Get a good group. Be patient. Learn which are the most dangerous mobs and how to time your dodges.
Dungeons are designed to be easy, and they aren’t designed to be cleared by half-baked plans.
Learn the dungeon and give yourself time. Theres no rush. You will get it, its not impossible. If you really feel like your getting one-shotted, try and up your gear or change up your stat combination.
kotekkingI just want to say that if you won’t change difficulty it will become boring and people will be like: Oh my god, I have to do this dungeon just for that and that gear.
I never get bored of a good challenge. So i have no idea what ur talking about.
Crucible of Eternity.
Story Mode is awesome, lots of fun.
Explorable mode – jumping through instant-death laser grid. omg never had so much fun dying before.
Edit: Bosses are awesome too, usually a little more then just tank and spank. Except Alpha, he’ll be your arch rival

Havent specifically tested it.
I know in dungeons with bosses that have retaliation only do a set amount back. But its always been really low (i’d hit the boss for a couple thousand but would always receive 199 in dmg back)
But i dont think it works like that in pvp just cause. I’ve seen warriors stun me, immediately pop thousand blades, and his health will DROP when i have retal up. Warriors nautrally have almost 10k hp over us in most builds. I managed to heal through it a bit a win the fight. So i suspect it returns full dmg…
I will test tonight and get back to you guys.

You take the dmg dealt to you, but the dmg you receive from the caster/attack is also returned to him.
I’ve seen warriors kill themselves with their own Thousand Blades. Its quite hilarious
Make sure you have retalitation up atleast if you ever do get caught in a kite.
Atleast then your doing dmg as hes trying to kite you. Your CDs should come back in enough time to allow you to jump on him.
Save Your Selves shout is really helpful here. Retaliation/Swiftness for 10sec and thats only 2 of the 10 boons
I see very commonly in this game that battles sometimes function like a Rock/Paper/Scissor type mentality to it.
I often find that i build for one circumstance and have more trouble with others because of it.
My advice for playing against guardians is boon removal. We are the class with the most boons to our advantage (popular builds often incorporate small heals with boon application and even increased dmg for boons)
My advice for playing as a guardian is Retaliation. Its scary how good it is. If you can time heals and stay alive as a warrior is using Thousand Blades or a Thief is getting the jump on you, they’ll often kill themselves without even knowing they did it. They’ll be down to 20%-40% hp most of the time before the notice it. Finish out with moves that cause alot of Control over the battle (teleports, stuns, leaps, immobilizes) and stay on them. After losing that much hp so fast and not seeing us attack them really that when they figure out that they’re about to lose and try and run away. You hammer the last nails in the coffin.
Most people style their guardians for Survivability/Support or Glass cannons trying to maximize their burst dmg. Let me tell you, it doesnt work. Atleast i dont think it does well. I believe Guardians are better built for steady sustained dmg (with high crits, not common crits) and boon advantage and specifically Retaliation.
Most important stats IMO… Power/Vitality/Toughness/Crit Dmg %
Robert HroudaSoon…
But yeah, that room is awesome. I have plans for it, but ran out of time to put what I wanted in it.
Your awesome. Take your time.
I like how everyone was all up against the nerf to CoE saying “omg alpha fight is too easy” and “just did path X, so easy” and then robert comes here and says “oh yeah, we didnt touch explorable mode at all… only story…”
LOL XD
I never used Wrathful spirit, i went for Shouting Recharge rate instead.
I do use Vengeful in the Virtues tree however and i’ve never had any trouble keeping up Retaliation on me.
combining boon duration with symbols and shouts. You wont need to count on Wrathful spirit to maintain retaliation, just a good focus on dropping your symbols and dodging on to them.
What i wanna know is,
Why as the melee class of this game do i feel it takes more “Aiming” on our part to get a decent hit, then most of the ranged classes out there….
-Tzenjin
Hey guys,
Just needed a confirmation really quick about whether or not choosing to leave your profession will not actually delete the experience.
I had heard somewhere that u can techincally have 400 in every profession, just you can only be 2 of them at one time.
I wanted some feedback before i do anything drastic >_<

Anet,
Everytime i run CoE i get separated from my party or locked out in general
If i do manage to complete the dungeon, first time that day, no matter what. My rewards are reduced. I get only blues from chests and only 2-3, even with magic find (idk if it affects chest drops) and every single time ive ever finished the last boss and received tokens i’ve only gotten 15. This is the 3rd time this has happened in 3 days.
Is it something im causing? how come its different for everyone one and im always getting stuck with it?
Lvl 80 dungeons drop rares your first time, atleast i was under the impression it had a good chance. Not even a green through out mutliple dungeon runs. I get better drop rates for greens and yellows farming regular mobs…

We’ve posted in several of these threads at this point.
To reiterate what we’ve said in other posts: we’re very aware of this problem and are actively working on the group system. I personally hate this issue with the fiery passion of a thousand suns, and can’t wait for it to be fixed.
Thank you. Glad to hear your aware and actively searching for a solution. Good luck!

Just tried to do a Crucible of Eternity.
Game kicked me out and back to the client at the second fight with alpha, Submarine Path, (internet issue i think) but then after i logged back in and found myself outside of the dungeon, every time i would try to re-instance back into my parties dungeon it would take me to a completely fresh dungeon.
I tried everything. Created new character to refresh, waypointed in and out of the fresh dungeon. waypointed to Lions Arch and back. Still nothing. Leave party and get reinvited, still no. I must have tried entering into our dungeon more then 20 times and it would only give me the new one.
Group end up having to kick me, i’ve wasted close to 50s in trying to waypoint combined with repair costs, and end up wasting 2 hours to a bug…

Very nice Viathy! Awesome skills. Looking forward to more
Planning my own vid soon too. Be sure to give me some feed back when its up ^^

Or just an option on death “Respawn at last waypoint” which FOR FREE, resurrects you at the most recent waypoint you triggered.
This would include the waypoints when you just enter an area that are automatically identified, etc. You would not have an option of which one to go to, but it would be free to go to the last one you were at.
Thats actually a pretty good idea. I’d be down for this.
Robert Hrouda is delusional, or a liar.
And your just a selfish prick of a troll.
People… Come on. Can you atleast treat the guys making this great game with a little more respect?
They raise the average tokens per run, not double, not triple, but almost 10 times the amount (getting an average of 4-7 tokens per run to now 15-60 per run) and the only thing you guys can do when it isnt the full 60 is complain and whine? Insult and bash? My goodness, grow up.
They made it easier to gain tokens, and had an unintentional bug in the system. They told us they were going to fix it. And after all this you guys post up these disrespectful and complete lies about them? Real mature… You think you deserve everything in this game and that the developers have to serve your needs to the letter? Wow the selfishness, shallowness, disrespect, and lack of maturity some of you show is simply mind blowing.
Do me a favor, just save yourself (and me) the trouble of your unintelligent banter and GTFO and quit this game. No one wants you here.
I did CoE explorable. Only got 15 tokens. Still got twice as many then normal. Im happy.
Do the developers know that it is broken? Yes
Do the developers plan on fixing it? Yes
Are the developers content to see us playing into a bugged system? No
Am I going to bash developers telling myself its helping? kitten no.
What am i going to do? Im going to play the game and have fun. If i wanna do a dungeon. I’ll do it, and will still probably get more tokens on average then i was a week ago. And in a couple days i’ll be getting even more no matter what.
ITS A WIN/WIN SITUATION PEOPLE kitten

Note to developers: If your reading this, god bless you. You must all have the patience of buddha. Keep up the good work.
I play a lvl 80 guardian. I’d like to put some insight on this coming from some one who leveled up with 4 people and got too 80 the fastest (although to be fair i did have a higher average playing time per day)
Idk what lvl u may be but until she starts getting utilities, she wont be as effective.
I’d consider picking up meditations. (Smite Condition and Judges Intervention) both are my favorite abilities for a guardian. Good AoE dmg allowing her to “tap” (hit/hurt/dmg… whatever floats ur boat) enemies that shes not even targeting.
Also look into your approach when attacking. Is she going in first or are you? She should (as a guardian) rushing in first. Her attack pattern should roughly be… Leap of Faith > Symbol of Wrath > Whirling Wrath > Auto-Combo till death and reapply Symbol of Wrath when needed.
If its a mutli-group of mobs thenn…. Leap of Faith > Binding Blade > Pull > Whirling Wrath > Symbol of Wrath > Smith Condition, etc etc etc.
Since your using magic and she is melee focused, shes going to be at a disadvantage compared to you. Which is why to be able to level effectively you should be supporting her combat instead of her supporting your combat.
Like others said before using a staff has a great cone-like auto-attack. Greatsword auto attack hits 3 enemies if they are in range of melee. And a specter gives her access to ranged combat as well as an option to use a torch/shield.
If you aggro, run to her. Literally plop your character on top of hers, it’ll only be a couple seconds before she’ll pop Whirling Wrath again or Symbol or Wrath, or even just an Auto-attack.
Just realize that you are playing with the most melee combat centered class with the least options for ranged. While you are basically the exact opposite. Learn to do combine attacks for combos, dodging to pull enemies in a certain direction, and how to coordinate around each other rather then just swarming around.
And personally… If i was playing with my wife (which sounds awesome) I’d actually purposefully play worse while questing/grinding together and almost push most of the burden on her (being the new player) so that she can understand the difficulty and gain the experience needed. Dont shelter her in fights and just order her what to do/tell her what attacks to use all the time. Shes gotta think up strategies on her own and execute them on her own will. Or she’ll never survive in the end game.
I did my first CoE Explorable Mode yesterday. Probably around 9pm Server time on Ehmry Bay. We went down the Submarine Path.
I got 15 Tokens and only around 17-ish silver. Hope this gets fixed before the weekend >.<
IGN: Tzenjin / Server: Ehmry Bay
Waypoint cost is there so you can make the decision to wait for a player to rez you (to save the cost) or pay for the convenience of waypointing.
But why is there a cost to begin with then? Isnt the “Penalty” for dying armor reduction?
Cuz right now its a double penalty lol. Your instantly deducted ur armor effectiveness once dying and then are asked to spend more money on the way point, or wait for a player to run by.
But you cant say “GET RID OF WAYPOINT COSTS” because if you did straight out i’d expect people to start going off saying “WELL I SPENT SO MUCH BEFORE TELEPORTING! WHERES MY REFUND?!” and then it would all go to hell.
-Tzenjin
Honestly, when the average has multiplied by almost a factor 10 times the amount tokens you could earn before… How are people still finding ways to complain? (Not talking about the Bug here)
Before a full set would probably take you months. I bet you can get in a week now…
If anything i know Anet is doing what it should for the majority… but now its not going to be special. If anything that’s what i’m a little ticked about…
Stop flaming and insulting Anet. They are doing what they can and what they think is best, they dont have the intention of making the game worse for anyone.
1. The bug. They’ll fix it. End of story.
2. The difficulty – Tokens are suppose to be difficult to obtain, not carelessly collected. (Personally i think they upped the amount recieved by too much) You want it? Earn it. Making it harder only makes it more valuable. If you can get dungeon armor without focusing or just pissing around in the dungeon then u dont deserve it.
3. Have to leave in the middle of the dungeon? Your fault. You should of known. “BUT IT WAS AN EMERGENCY?!” well if its such a emergency, i really think the last thing you should be focused on is your dungeon tokens… Do your dungeons when you know you have time. Dungeons are really only worth it if you go all the way anyways, so whats the real problem? That you aren’t compensated for your “try” or “effort”? Guess what. You either beat the dungeon or you dont. You either win the match or you lose. You either earn the tokens or you dont. Simple.
Stop trying to make this game CATER to you. To those people consistently flaming, pushing for lower difficulties, insulting Anet, and threating to quit the game about how they’re abusing the player-population. Please quit. Your ruining this game for all us.
Hey Anet,
I don’t want to flame and i’m not outraged lol. You guys are cool.
But.
When i’m farming in Orr (or anywhere really), usually running around the map killing and gathering, and i happen to die. Don’t you think its silly to charge a waypoint cost to resurrect and then right after charged for armor repair?
Thats like double tax, ya kno? Just thought it was strange and kind of a pain.

Hey guys,
Quick question about the pvp locker and the weapon skins it has….
Can all the weaponskins in the Pvp Locker be found in the PvE world for use in WvW?
Im convinced they can because, in the PvP locker there is something i think is called (bad with names lol) “PvP Frozen Longsword” and i found a weapon crafting recipe for something called the “Corrupted Avenger” with the same skin! in Frostgorge Sound from a karma vendor.
Specifically, im trying to find the skin of the “PvP Majestic Sword” (Long with no handle guard and real sleek.) But i have no idea where to start looking or even if it exists within a recipe or w/e.
Thank guys,

Pretty sure people might already know this but…
Using Binding Blade/Pull on a enemy that is on slightly “off” or “uneven” ground disrupts the full “pulling” of the ability.
Example: I am standing on a flat surface. Enemy on the relatively same level (most of the time only slightly raise, way less then a full jump height can reach. You can walk up the step normally too.). Use binding blade/pull. Enemy gets caught on the area that sinks down and stops. (Usually like step or even rock elevation. No higher up then a porch would be)
I have alot of trouble with this is PvE, PvP (WvW and sPvP), and dungeons! This game is beautiful and has a very high level of detail. Even in the environments. But its also that same detail causing this problems. Especially with ranged npcs designed on elevated grounds. Trying to reduce their chances to hit you or even restricting their ability to be at a range isnt possible with this skill at the moment, which is suppose to be the skills main function.
Personally i think it should be able to pull players down from higher areas but not the other way around.
Deciding on my lvl 80 dungeon armor. And im questioning how much condition dmg is bringing to the table in terms of dps as opposed to crit dmg.
My final armor is a choice between Power/Prec/Crit Dmg or Power/Prec/Condition dmg.
Im a level 80 guardian, and i know burn is important. But burn duration is one thing and burn dmg (condition dmg) is another.

Idk what Dragonhero is going on about. Guardian was my first choice and i haven’t regretted it once.
I have a 71 Guardian, and i can take 2-4 mobs my level and or 2 and a veteran at once. I deal great dmg (cuz i aim for certain stats and im ok with routinely going to the TP and updating gear with some cheap greens)
Spirit Weapons and Consecrations are good, but personally i lvled up this whole time Meditation/Shout.
Hammers and GS give you great control (as mentioned above). I choose GS because of aesthetic reasons, i secondary a scepter/shield combo for ranged. Know that too, Guardians have very little escape options and have a big lack of ranged dps.
Skill points aren’t that tough. You can handle most veterans your level. As for Orr specifically, i cant tell you cuz i haven’t been haha. But if your looking for someone who can dishout damage and take some hits then a guardian could be a good option.
phorDon’t forget V
Magma Symbol? V
Wind-up attack coming? V
Need a second or two before a skill comes off cooldown? V
While i completely agree with you about the importance of dodging, you make it seem like you have 3 bars of endurance lol. Dodging is good, but the CDs before the next is a lengthy.
