Just dropping this for SAB-lovers that don’t know about it https://twitter.com/Lord_Vanquish
I know it’s kind of barren, but this might be your best source for info on SAB untill someone posts an update on the forums.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Most of Arenanets manpower is focused on LS? I’d like you to back that up with some sources. But people will believe whatever they choose to believe sourced or otherwise, so I suppose, carry on.
Yes, you are using apologetic wrong, considering I’m not apologizing for anet. Pointing out discrepancies in what people think or assume happens vs what actually happens isn’t apologizing. It’s informing.
Some people feel there hasn’t been enough content. Others feel there has been some, but would have liked more. Still others feel there was just enough. And others still feel it was too much. No matter what they do, no matter what approach they take, they cannot please everyone. The best thing they can do is make their plans and move forward with them, even if it means stepping on some people’s toes. If you don’t like their choices, there are plenty of other games out there.
@Nage, is it starting to feel like we’re trying to bail water out of the Titanic here?
I don’t have any source. These are my assumptions based on what gets put into the game. Of course like all assumptions they may or may not be true but guess what? You don’t have any source either. So exactly what was your point, other than belittling me?
Again, you don’t have inside info afaik. So how exactly can you inform people when both sides are talking about stuff they don’t have hard data on.
Sure thing, I agree with you. You can’t please everyone, but that doesn’t mean that everything you do is perfect and feedback shouldn’t be given. I understand that you lots love GW2 and there’s nothing wrong with that, but please relax and let other people post their dissenting opinion without accusing them of impatience or stubborness, or dismissing them because they don’t have a source when you don’t have any either.
Maybe it feels like that because it’s what you are doing? On that matter, where is Vol? Haven’t seen him lately.
Off I go to another game, because apparently I shouldn’t bother posting.
@Nage:
Oh really? Then why would you hire 2 programmers instead of 1, if having 2 doesn’t mean faster/more work?
I know some of the manpower “gets lost” on the management and coordination side. I know that if 1 guy can complete a task in 24 hours, having 24 guys on the same job doesn’t necessarily mean that the task will be completed in 1 hour, but you get my point. Nobody is saying that they don’t work enough, in fact I think they work too much. Many just don’t like what their managers makes them work on.
These mental gymnastic exercises are getting tiring.
I’ll cut the chase short because my english isn’t that great and I’m short on time.
Some people feel like GW2 hasn’t been adding enough meat. When you come in and tell those people (in this case cesmode, but I could be in his place as well) that content takes time and people are impatient you are being apologetic (or am I using this word wrong?) and avoiding the elephant in the room, the living story.
Please don’t tell me that I’m asking too much or being impatient when we both know that weren’t most of Arenanet manpower focused on LS we could have had plenty of “expansion-like” stuff like we had in GW1.
@Nage: GW2 is much bigger then GW1. So is the number of people that worked/are working on it. Moot point.
Also hello Chris, I love you <3
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
I’m sorry but when I look back at GW1 development cycle and compare it to GW2’s I find your posts, Lanfear, apologetic, rather than finding myself impatient.
Tbh I expected World 3 which is new content, although the “joke” is the same I guess.
My fear is that since they’ve gone for something else for April’s Fools, we won’t be seeing any SAB soon. And it’s a kitten shame because I think w1 and w2 especially were some of the most engaging GW2 experiences, but people saw there were no shinies to be earned and the levels were difficult so they stuck to their awesome champ trains. Arenanet saw the metrics and decided to do more champ-trainy stuff and put SAB on hold.
Forgive the rant.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Don’t think it’s gonna happen unfortunately.
Last time SAB wasn’t played much, so Arenanet looked at the metrics (like they always do) and decided it wasn’t worth it so they put the project on hold.
Yeah I miss it, logged in just for it and was disappointed
Not another one of these.
It’s still 5 people who are getting a weapon that symbolizes (or is supposed to symbolize) mastery of ALL aspects of the game….5 people who may or may not have ever stepped outside of PvP.
Yeah because right now legendaries symbolize mastery of all aspects of the game. Like I don’t know, train-farming and all the related and very complex skillsets that you need for it to work.
These forums I swear.
Except what he said is true, and the game backs it up. You need to run dungeons, an aspect of the game, you need to have luck which is a nuisance but pretty much the whole game in a can, you need to do WvW which is another aspect of the game, and then you need to craft a component or two.
The only thing you don’t need to do is PVP to get a legendary, but PVP itself is segmented from the game as a whole on a major level.
So realistically it’s not a false statement.
Except it’s not, and you are “forgetting” some details
Realistically speaking:
1) You need 500 tokens of a single dungeon per legendary weapon. That’s far from “mastering” dungeons. That’s like, doing less then 10 times the same dungeon. Impressive isn’kitten
2) You need 500 Badges of Honor per legendary weapon. The smallest achievement chest gives you 100 badges. If my math is correct, as soon as a new account hits 2000 achievement points (few months of playing?), the player in question has enough for a legendary. So this requirement is easily met by doing only PvEasy, as seen with some of my legendary-bearing guildmates that have never set foot in WvW. Impressive again.
3) These easy-peasy requirements that pale in comparison to the massive gold grind you need for the different gifts are skippable with even more gold-grind. The “mastery-showing” legendary the guy next to you is proudly wielding might as well have been bought with a credit card from the TP
If I were one of the best EU/NA PvP players (and I’m very far from it) I’d be insulted to receive a gift that any bot can get. Not the other way around, like it’s happening in this thread, lol.
It’s still 5 people who are getting a weapon that symbolizes (or is supposed to symbolize) mastery of ALL aspects of the game….5 people who may or may not have ever stepped outside of PvP.

I miss SAB and I can’t wait to see what kind of evil traps Mr.Foreman & co. devised for us. I also can’t wait to hear W3 tunes <3
Naming and shaming is forbidden so this thread will soon be deleted, You can still report the scammer through other means, but I don’t remember it. Hopefully the mods that close this will help you know what to do.
Oh no, meme-only posts
Good question! i think it’s because of focus on all other things that are more important. Like the core features and gameplay.
Yeah like the new shiny guild panel with all the infos you could ever need and the awesome QoL that spares you lots of clicking when dealing with large numbers of items! Or the particle effects slider! Dem features kittenn.
Oh wait…
@OP: Arenanet probably doesn’t have a dungeon team right now. So here’s your answer.
That’s like saying that you have your home istance for housing
I am against housing because the housing crowd is generally childish and rude and would harass me for my supposed lack of taste in house decoration.
Also you already have the home istance. Why do you think it’s called →home<- istance?
P.s. post history
No more new dungeons, there’s a risk of a guy kicking everyone at the end and ‘trolling’!
No more complex boss fights, some guy might screw it up purposefully!
No more LS, some guy will spoil it for everyone on release days!
No more new weapons, some guy might dump all his gold on them and proceed to control the market!
GW2’s forums in a nutshell.
Whelp… wild guess… if it has been brought up multiple times, and each time it isn’t even deemed worthy of a response by the powers that be… what do you think that should tell you?
Oh… that tells you to bring it up AGAIN? Oh. Okay then. Makes sense…
I remember a dev (Colin I think?) saying in an interview that dueling was on the “to-do” list, but with a pretty low priority.
But nice attempt at demeaning someone for wanting something you don’t like
Please Otokomae, I sympathyze with you but let’s try and have a somewhat meaningful thread :p
@Jski and all others:
I may have not been clear enough. I personally have had no troubles buying the skins either with cash or gold back when I wanted to support the game. They’re somewhat expensive, especially the BLC ones, but all cash shops are expensive considered you are buying pixels.
I think all of you agree with me when I say that getting an item you long for by randomly farming gold or outright whipping out the credit card, while convenient, is boring in the long run. So there’s no doubt that some more skins in-game would make the game more fun for many players. I’m thinking things like a weapon skin of choice as a reward for those that participated in S1 of WvW, or heck, an armor set for Fractals!
I understand the need for Arenanet to get their money, but this way it feels to me as if devs are purposefully making their game less fun (at least for me) for short-term monetary gain. This is one of the main reasons I’ve became a big supporter of GW1 expansion model, where they got their money and I got my game without any part of it cut-out.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
@Vol:
Oh but I’m not suggesting for them to drop skins entirely, just to bring the balance a little closer! Not to mention they have monetized a plethora of other things in the gem-store…or if all else fails, they could resort to the true and tested expansion model (wink wink nudge nudge).
@Jski:
I realize that the gold to gem conversion is very significant to this whole deal, but I feel like it makes for a boring skin-obtaining experience, or punishes those that prefer unprofitable activities (I was big on WvW for example).
Thanks for your input whether you agree with me or not
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
So far Arenanet has released 2 incomplete armor sets (Hellfire & Radiant) and 3 complete ones (Ascended ones) that weren’t sold on the gem store. By comparison, the gem-store only ones are 18 (all of them complete).
What are your thoughts on the matter? Personally, I think this balance is unacceptable. I understand they have to pay the bills, but aren’t there other possibilities for them to make money while doing less “harm” to the game?

P.s. please keep this respectful as mods are very eager to remove these kind of threads
Edit: sorry if my OP is kind of lackluster, I was posting in another similar thread but it got removed
I seriously hope smooth penguin is being sarcastic…
OT: not that I don’t support your proposal, but how can you say it’s technically easy to do Dos? Personal knowledge?
Mesmer is a pain to fight, but its based primary on skill rather than what class you play. Each class plays differently with their own plus and minuses (ranger having the worst minus however due to pet issues). In retrospect 1v1 against any class is possible but it is determined based on player skill.
awesome awesome, back in the day it wasn’t like that….from what I remember.
back in the day most people did not know how to play their classes very well some classes were easier to learn than others. Since people have gained skill fights in 1v1 have become a matter of skill rather than class. Mesmers are hard to kill, thieves are just annoying but if your skilled enough you can counter them.
So you are saying me that, given two similarly skilled players with two PvP oriented builds, a Guardian has a fair chance against an Engineer or a Necromancer? (just to make an example)
Not complaining, I think 1 vs 1 balance is not important, but please let’s not lie to ourselves
Norn wield huge weapons, and that 2-hander ain’t huge enough!
Other than that, very well done!
All overe these forums? I don’t even remember it having a dedicated thread.
Once upon a time there were Dragons. Now there is Scarlet.Boring, uninteresting, and not part of an interesting story. So why do we have to have it?
Dragons dragons dragons.
Did your personal story & Zhaitan’s death teach you guys nothing?
No matter how big and scary-looking the stereotypical villain looks, there are ten thousand more important factors to how a good story is written and delivered.
Why are you giving new weapons to the classes with more weapon options?
I’m shaking my head right now
This thread was locked a few minutes ago. Now it’s open.
Mmm.
Sfr thief commander from iddq guild 2v1 me, i get him easily down and his friend revives him, then they kill me and he jumps on my body… sfr still so kitten about losing in league!
Edit: now hiding in tower scared to come out since he would have to 1v1 !edit: so i got one roamer join me… we were in front of sfr tower for ages, then sfr came with 7 people, 7v2’d and the thief was jumping there again… ZERO respect for you sfr!
Do you happen to be a skullcrack/GS warrior that only comes out of the spawn with 30s worth of food/potion buffs, fully stacked sigils, guard leech & guard killer, 100% tuned 1 vs 1 build, and bloodlust buff for good measure?
Because while I can’t condone jumping on anyone’s body, I can’t help but laugh to myself when I see these player, and Piken seems to have relatively lots of them.
So yeah, just making sure you aren’t one of those. And if you are, may I point you to SPvP?
You played 1,3k hours yet you don’t know how PvP items work? :X
L’erba tinta nun mori mai, Kingface
I don’t want to be a doomsayer, but Vizunah decline is already starting. Look at that thing, is that supposed to be some sort of replacement for your quality trolls like Kingface?
@Pryda fite me bro (? •?_•?)?
Edit:
No my smiley thingie! It doesn’t work!
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
He WILL be back
Awesome cutscene.
Just what Engineers needed. More CC!
kitten Wolfheart admire us please !
Oh I wasn’t expressing my opinion, I respect what your server has done :P
SAB PLZ <3
Yes, you misunderstood me. You drop loot like mobs in PvE, but it is randomly generated, it’s not what is in your bags
Edit:
I would be glad to help
(edited by Moderator)
Enemies drop loot in WvW. That is why I attack them. I am not a bully, I just want your bags.
I’d put you through a month of forced EvE online. Then you would see real e-bullying and stop misusing the word.
Jeez Vizunah guys chill.
Don’t take it as a personal insult if some people don’t find your achievements all that impressive.
Same here, PM me here or in-game if you have any question (EU Timezone).
P.s. no class specific, in-depth help unless you are playing a Guardian. I kinda know how other class works but I certainly don’t know what’s the best PvE (or PvP) mesmer build trait by trait.
it is bug from GS
In all honesty, people who cry about the leveling possibilities in GW2 strike me as complaining for the sake of complaining. Knowing OP’s post history, well…
There’s many things you can criticize GW2 for, but leveling being too long/restrictive isn’t one of them.
I’m glad people that WvW’ed only to get a bunch of chests are disappointed.
Eh, you guys have gone a long way from relying on simple nightcap to win matches. And please don’t take this as an insult, ‘cos I’m basically saying that you improved greatly from the first half year of GW2.
Congratulations again.
I couldn’t care any less about balance right now (although it’s really hard to justify a thief being able to troll 24/7 2 or 3 players in WvW), but don’t defend stealth as it is currently implemented plz. It’s simply not fun.
Think of a PvP game where stealth grants you complete invisibility. Yeah, there’s a reason you aren’t finding any.
Aw man Kingface plays nice and here it comes Faunus taking his place! You party-pooper!
@Collector: You mean Riot the guild with Crad the machine in it, or the american roaming superpower with Yishis (check youtube videos) in it? Because I’ll go hide behind a rock if we got Yishis, I am not worthy of being his server-mate!
