“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
You are shelving your class because it didn’t get buffed enough? Good lord.
Oh no
Who will show me the Guardian DPS math you did then
While we could have an interesting discussion and I partially agree with some of your points, allow me to focus on a little detail first.
You liked the Personal Story? Moreover, you liked those cutscenes?! As in, seriously? Yes the PS has a lot of voiceover, but most of it was of a terrible quality (monotonous salad, my character talking about a dead friend like it was reading a script, etc) and the “cinematics” (more like 2 people talking with moving backgrounds) aren’t half as good as some of the newly released one (Queen’s Jubilee or Marjory come to mind). Don’t get me wrong, GW2 launched with some serious quality in certain aspects, but PS certainly wasn’t one of them.
P.s. all MMOs’ stories will never be centered solely on player character for the simple reason that there are millions of them. See GW1 stories, or GW2 salad campaign

No I think we should stop with the BUFF ME NAO trend
Woah that’s mean Kingface bro

Now I’m sad and will leave the thread. See you at the league Vizunian friends (and not), the fights will be epic.
P.s. Troma I make you builds you make me site, deal?
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
They are exceptional at WvW roaming and sPvP. Most players don’t know how to play them or build them for that matter.
^
Not good in huge zergs though.
Anyways, with that attitude (getting destroyed at your first try and thinkin “my profession is weak!” instead of “did I do something wrong?”) won’t get you far.
That site is impressive and really well made!
The necromancer build on the other hand…Kingface’s doing?
Sure Arenanet should read that site. Meanwhile a good chunk of the playerbase could read something on providing mature, civilized and constructive manner.
Neither side is innocent.
Dueling was one of the question on Arenanet anniversary thingie and Colin said they definitely want to have a way to duel outside PvP, but it has a low priority right now. Take that, duel-haters
I could, since as I whispered you, I’m a guardian, and I know of no OP 1 vs 1 Guardian build
In fact I’d be happy to have one that could be considered more than “decent” but I’m not complaining, the game isn’t balanced around 1 vs 1 and I do them just for fun every once in a blue moon.
Now I’ll be leaving as this thread should be closed by no.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Link what, my offer? It was done through whispers in game, sorry I didn’t screen the chat. You said something about not wanting to have anything to do with kitten contests with perplexity mesmers and stunlock warriors or something. You were quite bitter
Though I gotta say, I’m not 100% sure it was you, it may have been Moon.
And if you consider reading other matchup threads as stalking then I guess a good chunk of players posting here are stalkers.
Edit:
just realized I’m posting in a old thread, I was starting to wonder how Kodash was able to fight in 2 matchups at the same time xD
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Woah you’ve become such a big fan of 1 vs 1 after you bitterly refused my proposal some weeks ago. Mmmh.
(This post doesn’t imply anything, I’m an horrible player)
Be careful [Oo], you might be missing a mesmer or two.
I AM NUUUUUUU WEMIIIIIL!
Edit:
Golems were offered by SFR population and I’m not suggesting they are “mine”. I’m a cheap and poor kitten who saves his gold to get a legendary. I just wanted to play “wemil” for a bit
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Hats off to that Riverside elementalist on JS border that hits hard and doesn’t afraid of anything
Woah did I just read that the game that shall not be mentioned has better balance than GW2? Followed by the fact that you were 2k rating arena yet can’t play elementalists properly? I think I’m starting to see a pattern here
As for epic fights, pretty much all of this guy’s videos are http://www.youtube.com/user/IntigoGW2/videos (guess what, he’s an ele ~ )
no
I think the only thing you are missing by skipping Twilight Assault is a backpack and 25 achievement points. The previous update, you would have missed again some APs and the sunless wings backpack. This thread is some months late.
I’m not suggesting a huge nerf, something along the lines of 20%. That would not fix the problem of excess dust, merely alleviate it. I’m good at pointing out problems, not finding solutions!
But seeing how every high fotm lvl player still has plenty of useless rings…
Not enough shields on the Guardian picture
Simply reduce the amount of bloodstone dropped. Or you want to make champ-trains even more profitable?
What I said only applies for toughness. Healing power, condition damage, vitality and all the other stats scale linearly as far as I know, meaning that you get, for example, 1% chance to crit per 21 points of precision no matter your total precision, or 1000 HP per 100 vitality no matter your total vitality.
Celestial is appealing only if you make good use of all the stats, which is extremely rare.
English is not my first language so sorry if this doesn’t make sense.
Armor scales in a logarithmic way. This means that the more you invest in it, the less gain-per-given-investment you get. In other words, the 500 toughness points you invest to go from 2k to 2.5k armor give you more benefit than the same 500 points invested to go from 2.5k armor to 3k.
So when people say that the difference isn’t noticeable unless you reach crazy amounts of armor (+3.5k armor) it really baffles my mind.
With that mathematical consideration out of the way, toughness is far from useless, especially the first few hundred points you invest in it. Sure it won’t allow you to forget about dodging in PvE, but you also have to factor in the innate healing capabilities of each class.
There’s enjoying a fight against a server and congratulating them (for example I loved fighting against Baruch Bay some months ago), and then there’s regurarly posting in whatever matchup thread said server is “oh X Server we miss you so much”. The first is always good to see, the second makes me think of overly-attached girlfriends
@Mirmy actually I think junkpile’s posts are kind of okay, I’ve seen and posted worse things
As for the matchup, I’m currently trying to reform my old roaming trio with IRL friends that stopped playing. If you see 3 guys tagged [BSE] or [DED] go easy on them, we are still going with the training wheels
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Scepter is the best ranged weapon in the game for single targed DPS in PvE, especially against big, static enemies (Tequila, Lupicus phase 1, TA final bosses, etc).
The only real issue of scepter is autoattack projectile being too slow and 2nd skill being useless or close to in PvP.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
Loved Reaper’s Rumble
They are also undead in spvp and still deal great amount of damage to kill other classes.
GW = Guardian Warrior deal with it. They will always be op against other classes in both pve and pvp.
If you are having problems 1 vs 1 against Guardians as something else other than flamethrower Engineers I suggest you seriously reconsider the way you’re playing. There’s a reason every single Guardian in SPvP is a bunker.
And this guys is why we can’t have nice things (the nice things being devs being open about their plans).
P.s. what makes you think that precursor crafting isn’t gonna cost as much as actually buying one?
You call the living story and SAB garbage, I call legendaries garbage.
I’d rather have content to play than grindy skins to pursue.
Ouch. Right in a feelings. Here’s my +1 for another clever post, Naus.
Really difficult to get all the ori and ancient wood coming to me as I play WvW
Not to mention that the “take it easy” approach will be so slow for people that play less than 2h a day that they might get full BiS in years, especially considering armors.
@OP: unfortunately they haven’t commented on anything related for a while now, I doubt they will do anything about it
This thread doesn’t look promising. One day I hope to go against Vizunah and their little pet server Aurora. Imagine the double teaming on forums/in game <3
I do agree with the general sentiment of this thread. After crafting 2 ascended weapons I think I’ll stop for a while because it really is doable only if your preferred playstyle is farming, and there’s only somany Orr gathering runs I can do before getting bored to death.
I was close to getting my first legendary after 1 year+ of playing (money doesn’t come easy if you play for fun instead of spamming cof p1, champions, pavillion or whatever), but levelling two professions and crafting 2 weapons severely set me back. So much for bridging the gap.
The saddest thing is that although we’ve had many threads about the matter, Arenanet hasn’t posted in any of them. I guess the system is fine for them?
P.s. I’m not gonna even bother addressing people that think ascended crafting is okay because I already wasted my time with people defending the wvw wpx gain back when it was at least half as fast as it is now.

Long time no see Jade Sea!
GLHF everyone.
RNG is RNG
Thank you everyone for the fun week
like almost (I insist on almost) all servers, you aren’t full to the brim with upscaleds and noobs, it’s refreshing. Thanks for the good fights everyone.
(Did anyone see what I did there?)
If you want to play with other people that are exactly similar to your stats, SAY IT.
This basically sums up the whole thread. People shouldn’t be such kittens to kick players mid-run only because they don’t run the gear they DIDN’T ask for. Simple.
Suddenflame is an internet veteran, my weak attempts at flaming him were easily swept aside! +1 for you sir!
Now to get back on topic, I do think that this berserker mentality is largely due to most dungeon paths being too easy to faceroll through even for not-so-great players. Luckily, Arenanet has seen the problem and has been releasing content (like the last 3 dungeons) that aren’t as berserker-friendly as others.
Thing is, making support or tanking oriented builds more welcomed while keeping them not required is a really difficult design challenge.
Will you guys stop with this kitten comparing contest? It’s immature, pathetic and useless…
…everyone knows the best players are the roamers like me.
I knew it was a male thing!
Makes sense, supporting in my (very little) experience is a female thing! (inb4 males that play support builds jump on me, I’m not being too serious)
There’s no incorrect or correct thinking. There’s people who value speed over anything else, and people who don’t. The first group should always advertise about gear-requirement in their party, the second should avoid the first for the happyness of both.
I myself run with a mix of Knight/Berserker/Soldier because of WvW and because I want to have more room for error, not being a great dungeon-runner. I avoid the speed-runners, and they avoid me, we’re both happy.
Don’t see the reason of reporting someone for kicking you because they want people with specific gear on, nor why go all up-in-arms about the matter.
There’s a difference between the people that enjoy playing that way just because it’s their play style (which is cool, I’m fine with that) and those that feel the need to force it down your throat until you conform.
I’m perfectly fine with people running zerker because they just like to do more damage. That’s their thing. They don’t brag about it, they don’t force it down your throat, they don’t try to tell you it the only way to play. My husband wears mainly zerker gear cause he likes big numbers…wonder if its a guy thing…hmmmm, anyway its the ones that act like religious zealots that bother me. And like those zealots, I have absolutely no qualms about letting them know exactly what my opinion of them is. (No one will eeeever accuse me of being PC lol. There’s a reason I don’t work in any job where I have to interact with customers hehe)
The thing is, while I enjoy variety in my playstyle and don’t mind “wasting” 3 minutes more because someone is full cleric, berserker IS the best dungeon gear provided some premises: players have good reflexes, know the dungeon and are generally skilled.
Since that is not always the case, I (and other reasonable players I’m sure) like to have some sort of safety net with support-oriented or tanky builds in case something goes wrong.
So in the end, is Berserker the superior choice of equipment for proficient and very skilled dungeon clearing? YES. Should everyone who ever steps into a dungeon wear it and only it? NO. Is kicking poor Galtrix for his gear choice reasonable? No, unless the run was advertised as a berserker-only one. I mean I can understand insulting, I would’ve done that regardless of build, but kicking!…
P.s.
I do love me some big, juicy numbers. Just watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CZ5Z8ISNEA makes me go “WANT DAT”
P.p.s. man that suddenflame guy must be like a genius-god, or just think of himself too highly. I really wonder what’s the correct choice.

It’s relevant to this issue. Don’t mind the title. Listen to the first 10 minutes, and if you feel the need to listen to more, listen to the entire 21 minutes if you dare.
I saw corspealot and I didn’t dare watching past the 3 second mark
Southsun behaves like any other zone. It used to upscale people simply because in the past some Living Story episodes entirely took place there. There’s no reason every zone should always upscale you just because it made an exception to the rule once.
^ with multi-hitting attacks.
I just died in Torchlight II, I guess that’s pretty bad game design right there.
Don’t get too attached to the usual ranged vs melee stereotype as all classes are quite efficient at all ranges. For example, you wouldn’t think a Warrior armed with a rifle would do as much damage as a Ranger with his bow, yet in this game it works like that
Elementalists equipped with daggers are quite good in close ranges.
AND remove kitten outmanned buff – who cares bout mf? – dont buff the outmanned DEBUFF the outmanners
Woah that’s a terrible suggestion right there. Debuff a server because the other doesn’t field many players? So we can have people in map chat yelling at each other to leave so their l33t guild raid can continue to stomp?
5) Engineer is one of the best classes for solo or small-group fighting. While your abilities aren’t generally that great in zergs, a good engineer is a nasty enemy. As far as CCs go, I think you are second only to a ridicolous Warrior build. Pistol/pistol offers aoe blinds, confusion, immobilize, the rifle has a quite spammable knockback and immobilize, the shield offers projectile reflection, an AoE knockback and a stun or ranged aoe daze. You can’t go wrong with weapon choice
As for utilities, the toolkit has a nice pull, the flamethrower a nice AoE knockback, turrets especially when traited are CC machines, the elite supply drop is an aoe stun immediately followed by one of the turrets shooting a net… I could go on for ages…
also I don’t want to be rude but justice and liberty has no clue on what he’s saying and is talking out of purely common misconceptions
Engineers are one of the most well rounded PvP classes and are the 2nd strongest condition spammers in game.
P.s. I think the game is pretty well balanced right now, with the exception of a few builds/abilities. You should have seen thieves and their deadly 2222222 at release.

out of topic. since i understand russian, did you guys know, that Za Ebbis [ZBs] if you translate from russian, means “go f*** yourself”
kinda offensive, but meh
And Za Drots means “no lifers”, or so they’ve told me. Russians aren’t that great at guild names :/
What guild name we must chose then? BLOOD DRAGONS OF DEATH? RED WARRIORS OF VICTORY? or, maybe, PINKY KITTY
?
[HH] Hodin’s Horde!
No seriously, I suck at guild names too :P And Za Drots isn’t that bad, I was referring more to those SPRT guys (no offense :P)
