For PvE Dungeons and higher level Fractals (lvl 20+), what builds and gear do necros usually use?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
When thief goes into stealth, wait 2.5 sec then try to dodge. If you are already in combat, you will create a clone on dodge if you have the trait. Also as suggested, stand in your clone and do the dodge as well.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Read the 15 point minor trait in Dueling where illusions inflict bleeds on crit.
14% crit is low and the bleeds are a substantial amount of damage, especially if you are using a staff.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Nice vid. You are missing the weapons and sigils in your build editor though.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Sensotix,
How’s the Phantasm build coming?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
What does Perplexity work with for Necros?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I don’t normally play Minion builds but was curious if there is a minion build that is viable for pvp?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
What is the grandmaster trait in Power? It is missing.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I find the sweet spot for Toughness is 1600-1650.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Did it last night.
Dom 15 (III)
Dueling 20 (II, IV)
Chaos 10 (III)
Inspiration 25 (IV, VIII)
Sword/Sword + Sword/Focus
Knights Armour (Centaur runes), Berserker weapons, mostly berserker jewelry
Mirror heal, Decoy, Arcane Thievery (didn’t really need it due to removing conditions on heal), Blink, Hounds of Balthazar
Endurance food, Strength Booster, Rejuv Booster, Maintenance Oil
Phase 1 – Cast Warden on Liadri for reflects, you can use Temporal Curtain to deflect damage or use it to pull her clones either into or away from the wells.
Phase 2 – Cast iswordsman on her, switch to focus and cast warden on her, use focus to get swiftness however Mirror heal along with Centaur runes and you have almost 100% swiftness. Save your Sword #2 Blurred Frenzy in case you get pulled into an Orb where there is AoE.
Basically in P2, run clockwise and your sword phantasms/warden should kill her. Just make sure that she is in range when you cast your sword phantasms.

Bountiful Interruption > Chaotic Dampening
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
It’s funny that these runes are better for non-confusion classes than classes that are supposed to cause confusion, like Mesmers.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Phantasms are affected by your power, precision, condition damage & duration, boon duration, critical damage, armor, and healing power.
Phantasms do not inherit Vitality , nor does Weapon min-max damage affect them.

lolwut?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
You could do most dungeons in all greens.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Mesmers could use another ranged MH weapon since our only option is scepter.
MH Pistol comes to mind.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
There is no CD on the 6th rune bonus. He mentioned steal is one of the interrupts.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
A guildy who plays a thief has told me that a thief can keep 25 stacks of confusion up with these runes. How?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
It’s funny how these runes are better for other classes than Mesmers. Thieves can get 25 stacks of confusion easily on their target using these runes.
Another slap in the face for Mesmers.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Yup it is bugged.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Necro-ing to update this.
It is called Bonetti’s Rapier on the tp. Currently going for 40g+.
Link is [&AgGgrwAA], and it “Drops from: Bandit and pirate champions”. Credit to dulfy.net
Animations are the same though.Ugly skin :/
Anyone have any idea when those swords with the purple writing stuff in them (as seen in the screens for the latest update) will be released? i hope we see a Greatsword version that isnt a total mess of a design like 99% of oversized rubbish greatsword skins the game has.
Are you referring to Lord Taeres’s Shadow? If so, it drops from the Champ Spider in Queensdale.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Well I guess we have 3 with Focus (AoE) or Pistol (2 targets), F3 Daze and either GS push back or Staff Chaos Storm. But yeah, not a lot of interrupts.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Zerker x 2: Runes of Air and Pack
Knights x 1: Runes of the Pack
Rabid x 2: Melandru and Undead
PVT x 1: Forget what runes are in those
Zerker/Knights/Valk mix: Runes of Hoelbrak (Osicat’s Shatter Heavy 3.0 build)
Plus 30+ weapons: zerks, rabid, pvt, knights, giver’s, etc. with various sigils (I mostly run Sigil of Battle on both weapon swaps).
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
The main problem I find with this rune to take maximum advantage of the total set [6) 15% confusion duration (causes 10 seconds of confusion on interrupt] is that the interrupts traits are all in Domination (II, XII + Dazzling, Wastrel Punishment), Dueling (XII) and Chaos (VIII, XI).
So it’s very difficult to have a build/armor set that is hybrid between power and confusion and be effective.
Don’t forget Focus pull is an AOE interrupt.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I believe it was already shown that GS and Staff have similar DPS provided you use them properly (GS at range, staff in close). iWarlock is more power-based than condition keeping in mind that it will also do more damage if your target has more conditions on it.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Osicat’s Heavy Shatter Build + Chaotic Interruption
0/20/30/0/20
Amazing in group fights
0/20/20/0/30 is the shatter heavy build.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
@Xavi: I use 2x superior runes of water, 2x superior runes of monk and 2x major runes of water, that equals to 40% boon duration; +30% through traits makes 70% and then you can add the Signet of Midnight which adds another 10%.
If you want you could also use buff food for an additional 20%
True.
But you also get -20% Condition Duration, -20% Stun Duration from Hoelbrak runes. Add -40% Condition Duration food and now you are at -60% Condition/Stun duration. And we all know, Mesmer’s downfall are conditions.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Make interrupts more rewarding!
There is absolutely no reason to go for interrupts at the moment, simply because everything you get from interrupt traits, there’s a better one instead. Damage on interrupt? Why take a risky trait that may not cause any damage at all when you have +20% more damage on MW or 15% more damage for Phantasms (or others). These are reliably sources of damage that don’t suffer from the 2 issues mentioned above. Why gain might on interrupt when you have might on shatter and can go full pew pew.
All these interrupt traits HAVE to be significantly stronger than their counterparts, due to the huge risk of doing nothing at all.I think interrupts are pretty rewarding with Bountiful Interruption. I regularly get 25 stacks might with this trait and can distribute it with Signet of Inspiration to the whole group. With boon duration runes and the Signet of Midnight I get a whole lot of 80% boon duration which makes those might stacks last 18 seconds.
So the reward for me for interrupting is that I provide 18 seconds of 25 might stacks to the whole group pretty often. Not counting the other boons I can distribute with the Signet of Inspiration.
I’ve never used bountiful interruption before. How are you getting 25 stacks of might? Is it one stack of might/interrupt or more?
Bountiful Interruption + Hoelbrak Runes + Sigil of Battle (x2) + F3 daze + Focus’ ‘Temporal Curtain/Into the Void’ = up to 25 stacks of Might + 20% Boon Duration.
You can even get 1000+ Condition Damage with that amount of Might (use Ascended Celestial Amulet)
See Osicat’s Shatter Heavy 3.0 build. I run this build in WvW (and often in Dungeons) and with SoI it is great group support buffing.

Also undocumented change- double blink with Far Reaching Manipulation switching no longer works.
Ha, it’s like Anet wants to slow Mesmer OOC down even more.

It has always worked this way.

Dieing from purple butterflies = Priceless.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Hmmmph. Sounds like those Mesmer players pussed out. As much as I think ANet’s nerfhammer is:
- PvPer fuelled
- Random as hell
- Unneeded in many cases.
I’m still running my Mesmer most of the time … unless I’m levelling an alt. Now, if we can get our Condition weaponry put proper, and a couple of the more ridiculous nerfs
(Hi, Blinding Befuddlement!) addressed, we’re back to doing well enough. Indeed, I’m surprised none of the TPvP Mesmers went for a full Melandru set/Mender’s Purity/Arc-Thievery spread. It’d help versus the current meta being Condition-heavy.
Problem is Mesmers give up too much to run condition removal and by taking these traits or utilities, they become a liability when compared to the three meta classes (necro, spirit ranger, grenade engie) and even s/d thief.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Zero Mesmer’s at PAX. Mesmers are a liability in Tpvp.
The future is now.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
You do know that Shattering clones is not the same as Killing clones, right?
You will only get the benefits of the 10 points in Dom and the 10 points in Chaos if your clones are killed by either your opponent or if you ‘replace’ them by producing another clone/illusion or using DE (clone of dodge) which will replace (kill) the oldest one.
Both those traits are better with Scepter that produces a clone on it’s 3rd auto-attack chain. This allows you do replace clones quicker to take advantage of the clone of death traits.
Key is that shattering your clones is not the same as killing them.
If you are looking for a decent Shatter build that also does decent Condition damage, look at Osicat’s Shatter Heavy 3.0 build (which uses Celestial Ascended neck).
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
You can buy Rabid in wvw for badges + some gold.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Until they cleanse because conditions are the new meta and everyone (except Mesmers) run condition removal.
Condition necros should have fun with this.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
It is a fundamental weakness of the Mesmer that they’re supposed to be ‘slow’ out of combat. They’re incredibly tricksy with clone generation and a few stealth skills if they want them as well. On top of this, they have a Medium health pool so even if caught, they’re not instantly dead. If they had superior mobility as well, they’d be far too strong.
I don’t agree with your justification.
Other classes are mobile both in and outside of combat.
If Mesmers get ‘caught’, they become in combat anyways so the OOC run speed doesn’t apply anyways.
Mesmer’s need to use sub-par runes are a specific weapon set to have swiftness which isn’t even at 100%. On top of this, our Focus swiftness doesn’t stack or get refreshed by other forms of swiftness.
Try running a condition Mesmer – slow as hell.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
The block on scepter is good on 1v1 but hard to manage versus multiple targets. Even pets and clones can get blocked.
The block should continue to be 2 sec but should block multiple attacks during all 2 sec and put torment on those players that attack.
Now that would be fun.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
They should just let us use trident and spear on land.
Or is it just me who thinks these are our most fun weapons?
Trident would be better if it wasn’t bugged.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
1) 28 condition damage, 25% Swiftness
/thread!
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
The fix to veil is a nerf imo.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Mesmer is bottom of the list right now. Every other class can do it better. Zero Mesmers at PAX.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
So the necro gets a buff in conditions and suddenly the game is all about condition spam? Maybe for the Necro but I’m pretty sure all the other classes stayed the same in that regard and if you’re not running condi removal then that is your problem.
Mesmers condition builds were nerfed months ago.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Anet needs to start merging low population servers.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
DX9 is one (but not the only reason) that this game is so laggy. Even WoW updated their engine to DX11 64-bit.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
It’s not really doing anything for me. It’s not Shatter. It’s not Phantasm. It is glass canon.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Let me check the DPS meters….sec

Someone know’s the name of the “golden” dye?
Looks like one of the newer Flame & Frost Dyes. I don’t know which one specifically. Maybe Pyre or Molten?

Prepare to spend 40g-140g depending on the dye.
