I kinda look at stack cap coming off as basically adding crit damage to conditions already.
1. You want to remove the overflow that is eotm. Then convert it to a borderlands type map which it was not designed for, and would take some work as it’s an Ebg type map.
2. You want to reduce the amount of borderlands maps to 1 and yet have an overflow server (I assume you meant map), which you just requested to remove and did not specify a replacement. If you think the current borderland map would be a suitable overflow map, they are maps that were designed to favor the home teams, they are not designed to be equal setting map like ebg or eotm. So I guess ebg would be an overflow map since eotm would be converted.
3. Obsidian Sanctum has an arena in it if you didn’t know, it’s the best sized arena in the game for guilds to gvg in. Sure there are not as much gvg guilds around these days, but there are gvg’s that happen still. If you’re going to revamp the map into something entirely different might as well just make a new map. Only change really needed in OS since megaservers, is it’s access to megaservers like eotm, it serves no other purpose to wvw other than an arena. Why try to turn this into a legitimate wvw map when you just suggested to remove 3 maps? eotm 2bl’s.
I do somewhat agree the amount of maps in matches probably needs to be reduced, but not down to 1 bl and 1 ebg. We have 2 types of maps and with 2 actual maps in each type. Not as many like desert or eotm as much as they do alpine or ebg, but I think at this point removing any maps and forcing players into certain maps will just kitten off people.

2. A new one, locked behind a kind of legendary quest including the following: Full map exploration, all dungeons done, all raids done, all fractals done up to XX level, all open world bosses done, PvP rank XX, completed personal story up to the last available chapter, 3 crafting professions up to 500 and WvW rank corresponding to all WvW skills maxed out.
With all the pve you want to throw in there might as well just grind out 300g instead. Not even the regular legendaries are that bad lol.
I heard there is this stat, called Vitality, that if you have a pretty decent amount of it, you have a better chance of surviving Conditions, oh, and there is these skills/traits ect. that allow you to remove Conditions, pretty neat right?

There is only two skill sets in the game of pve and spvp. Wvw uses the pve skill set, you can also kill npcs in there, so isn’t it still pve?

Wow just trimmed down their buffs with the last expansion actually. Their buffs work differently as well, their version of haste gets you 30% haste for 40s but then you cannot be affected by another haste spell for 10mins. Most of their other buffs involves stat buffs mostly capped at like 5% more strength type of thing, some buffs like blessing of freedom gives immunity to movement impairing skills for 8s but one target and cooldown of 25s. There isn’t as much aoe stuff in there either.
Dots are also no where as bad as conditions are in this game and only a few classes uses dots. The system anet has designed for gw2 focusing on boons vs conditions is now way overboard and bloated.

ghost theif can be encounter in many unreveal ways and counter trap and condi transfer etc etc is just that a loot of people they stay afk not doing anything and the thief kill them and they get mad…i dont see how you can die if you move,,,,after all if is 2 or more thiefs they will be always ghost perma invis ….like my party we are 4 thief and we go invis all the time but if we get in combat with guardians and necro epidemic is hard to kill them 4 vs 4.
Exactly, and going up against 4 other people who can drop 4 stealth traps makes the situation even more dangerous, can’t even see the traps so how can they fairly avoid them? That’s why thieves have to escape so much. Too many reveals already in the game, they add anymore and thieves will become extinct.

Only issue with thieves these days is their condition burst could really use a buff.
There’s really no point arguing over stuff around conditions.
That’s the road they have gone down with combat from the expansion, there’s no turning back now without kittening off one group of players, it’s not going to change.
power hits instantly for 5k say, and is mitigated to 2.5k say through toughess etc.
condition is 5k over 5 seconds, so it takes 5 seconds to ramp up to 5k a hit, at anytime in that 5 second window you can cleanse the remainder instantly. this is all the mitigation you need.
Except for the fact that most times you don’t get hit with just 1 damage condition type (cept for maybe burn guards but there’s also more conditions applied for cover).
Edit: Jesus thought I was going crazy about a change made, cleanse is still filo, but the change was made random on the convert skills. My bad.

One does not simply cleanse of what does not linger to be cleansed.
Yeah well considering they didn’t even consider adding auto loot to wvw masteries when the expansion came out, and we had to come in here and cry about it before they would, not surprising a wvw mentor tag didn’t get considered either.

No, you’re basically playing with semantics here. The guy is asking for a “stat” that mitigates condition damage.
Armor is not a “counter”. It is a damage mititgator, a “buffer” in your parlance. Protection is a true “counter” and, as you correctly recognize, condition cleanses and resistance are also “counters”.
In your own words: “The more you put on, the more you can hold out on incoming damage especially burst (from either one) to survive until your heals kick in.” That’s the proper definition of a damage mitigator.
Gee you know, I was actually thinking of post editing to correct myself on saying armor was a counter instead of mitigation, but decided not to, guess I should have.

Armor will mitigate a portion of power damage all the time.
Cleanses gets rid of a condition entirely so 100% counter.
Protection is 33% damage mitigation for incoming direct damage, not a counter, something like renewed focus popping damage immunity is a counter.
Resistance is a mitigation of 100% of current condition damage, so a counter unless the condition lasts longer.
I don’t count vitality as a “mitigation to condition damage” as people seem to throw around in condition discussions, because it works for both damage types, so that argument is a wash to me.
There is no gear stat for reducing condition damage other than condition duration reductions. If they’re going to hand out gear stats like dire which has a mitigation against power damage all the time, why shouldn’t there be a stat for condition mitigation all the time too?
Again wasn’t a problem before when conditions weren’t as strong as they are today with their boost since the expansion. You wanna make them equal to power then make everything equal.
The only unfair thing about condition damage is having to listen to people who don’t understand how it is balanced whine about it constantly.

Makes sense. I mean if they want to treat conditions as an equal to power, they need to make the counters and mitigations even too.
Vitality isn’t a “counter to condition damage”, it’s your buffer to any damage.
Vitality is the pool of hitpoints which is determined through the defensive capabilities of a class, which is why a class like elementalist have a low health pool to begin with (access to a lot of support stuff for itself and others), compared to a necromancer (which has little support even to itself). The more you put on, the more you can hold out on incoming damage especially burst (from either one) to survive until your heals kick in.
Armor and protection is the counter to direct damage.
Condition cleanses and resistance is the counter to condition damage.
Armor is always “on”.
Utility condition cleanses have cooldowns and limited number of condition removals, unless in a group.
Classes have various unequal access levels to protection and resistance boons.
Power should have always been the main way to deal damage in the game, conditions should have been secondary damage that puts pressure on the opponent who need to react with a cleanse. That’s what it seems like the system was built as for 3 years. Instead now they have boosted conditions to do as much damage or more, access to just as fast damage bursting capabilities, added more conditions, more auto proccing damage conditions, and took off the stack caps.
They’ve developed a terrible system trying to go 2 completely separate ways for doing damage and dealing with that damage, it’s a bloody mess that they will most likely never clean up. Just have to deal with it or not at all.
I prefer this method, works for every character.
Obviously those players didn’t use stealth traps, or even bother to stand in the black powder ring, or condi cleanse the 15 stacks of vulnerability, 10 stacks of poison, 10 stacks of bleed, 5 stacks of confusion, some of them just gave up before the fight started, they got what they deserve. Blast light fields next time.
Geez he was even really squishy with 22k hitpoints too, and taking a big chance using the shortbow in his off hand.
I have no problems with these changes. The skill is still unblockable, you just have to look closer on what targets your hitting it with.
Was pretty fair of them to make a small change like this and see where it goes, instead of absolutely making it useless. If it’s still OP then maybe they can look at the radius of effect for it too.

BG wants to stay the top server, even if it means stacking to no end and beating up 2 dead servers, like being number one means anything these days. Everyone is moving down the tiers to try and find good fights again. Mass movement this weekend from mag and tc, have yet to see how badly, but the next few weeks should be telling.
People been asking tier one to destack for like ever, and it’s at the point where BG will never destack because they keep reopening to restock instead. So instead, might as well do the reverse and leave them up in tier one by themselves, there’s no need to build counter servers to them anymore because they run when competition comes around anyways. At least the population IS spreading out once again to the lower servers.
When servers rotate to fight them, just take the week off. They bored servers fighting them, now it’s time to do the same to them, it will be the only way to get guilds to eventually move off from them.
As usual this will be marked as a matchup thread and closed by a moderator who’s not reading the thread. Tier one is now the joke tier.
It’s quite the contrary here on Maguuma. The typemanders don’t get more than 10 people and the commanders that throw around racial slurs in teamspeak get 50 on tag.
The Maguuma I’m on it doesn’t appear to matter either way. Players hive mind and wipe the other groups with or without TS.
Although I’d rather not be in the same TS as a certain commander saying ‘dude’ every other word, dude.
P.S. even Jarvan performs better by not even speaking. Hue hue hue.

I’m not on TS, yet when I do blob, I’m usually one of the last standing. Why? Because I have learned my class composition that I can follow without having my hand held.
I get that it’s a useful tool. I can’t use it for medical reasons. But you’d be down a very dedicated and accurate player if you pulled that stuff on me. Thankfully it’s not an issue on my server. Which kind of makes me appreciate everyone who plays on it.
Sounds more like a case of positioning yourself properly according to the situation at hand, which every single player should learn to do.
I also don’t go on server TS the majority of the time because I’m usually in voice chat with friends. Lots of times I see zergs go down in front of me when I’m on the backline, but then again, I’m on the backline, where it’s safer than having to run in as frontline and soaking all the damage and cc. But I feel like I can read situations by just looking at movements, you don’t always have to be ON the commander, just need to read the situation and position properly for the fight.
The only area I really think needs to be on TS is frontline, as the majority of calls from the commander are for frontline around them, with all the quick changes in movement and strategy, the call for stability and heal blasting, frontline needs to be on the ball more than those in mid or backline. Sometimes it is tough to run as backline with some groups because you don’t know if they’re going to push through, or just a mid push and run back, do you push right through with them? or push and get stuck in the middle of bombs when they turn around? Listening in TS helps with situations like that.
When you get on TS you only need to listen, you don’t need to talk, the commander just wants you to be on the same page as them.
TC, you can ask your old guilds to come back now that the alliance has left the rp house.

Meh already worked on getting every wvw mastery unlocked, why would veterans want to go back to a few lines? Most people obviously won’t trait stuff like oil pot mastery so that becomes obsolete.
A redo of the wvw mastery panel would be nice.

You obviously don’t know there’s a difference between the Asian and NA markets. You and asia might enjoy the korean grind open pvp games, but the rest of the world doesn’t. You only have to look at the numbers for games in both markets to figure that out.
MMO’s aren’t utterly kitten because of Wow, Wow brought a lot of gamers to the mmo market, while maintaining a higher development standard than most other companies. It’s the developers who have utterly kitten up the market with bug riddled early release clone after clones, and not bothering to make fun games.
At least Anet went a different route with GW2, they changed how you level with hearts and exploration instead of a billion quests, zone wide events which have turned into meta events. Open zone bosses so you didn’t need to drag a guild around with you all the time, dungeons, fractals, arena spvp, living stories, raids, wvw. At lot of good stuff for the mmo market, too bad they’re letting half their game go to waste, especially wvw.
If you want a korean grinder more than enough of those clones around to choose from these days.
At least Wow handles stealth in a more sensible way, if a stealth walks in front of you there’s a chance you can see their outline and hear the noise that a stealth person is around you. They also pop out of stealth for any attack, well other than sap which breaks on damage anyways. No need to carry around stealth traps.

There was less conditions being applied, cap of 25 stacks, siege didn’t take conditions, and less damage from conditions before resistance which came with the expansion.
People need to also keep in mind, when you force more players onto the borderlands, there will be less opportunity to roam and havoc, bigger groups will be around. The players looking for a fight will choose alpines more often instead. Are roamers and havoc players going to come in here complaining about that afterwards? Think entirely about the effect the changes could have down the road and not a quick pick me up to get people to play borderlands.
Like I said look for solutions to attract players there without having to banish maps.
Is there a monitor out there that calculates activity in EB versus other maps? I think we all know the dominant map, but just curious what the % is.

Glacing at NA t1-4 can see ebg numbers are usually more than 50% of the total activity.
Yes, we need a season desperately don’t listen to fourm warriors. People like xenesis and other players don’t realize that seasons brought so many players to the game mode. Sure you see a dip in numbers at the end of seasons because there is nothing to play for. We should have another poll for a season.
That’s kinda funny you say I don’t realize that seasons brought so many to the game mode and yet I’m still on the side of having them, albeit more limited fashion so that it can be run more fairly for everyone.
Players from my guild came to wvw because of season one and stayed in there as their main mode of game play. So yes I do very much know it brings players into the game, the ones who mentioned burnouts are the devs and some other players. Burnouts I believe that really affects certain servers that has a chance to win, that push themselves to win, like BG JQ.
What annoys me is people coming in here every other week to ask about tournaments and ending up with the same discussion over and over again.

Needs to be stickied so people can stop asking every couple weeks.
Well at least one thing has changed in the last year of this repeated request, maguuma is sure to win the tournament instead of blackgate.
Also, a tournament using just the first 24 hours from reset every week would be decent, since most players show up for their prime in every time zone after reset. Running it for the entire week would just allow better coverage servers to take over by the end of the week.
