You also got a bad roll with a t3 server rolling down to t5, just going to have to wait till it blows over, not every week is going to be dreamland matchups, that’s the cost of having some randomness to the system.

If any maps should be reworked or made ever again, they should be made like ebg not a borderland map.

The tonic was set up in a really weird way and wasn’t consistent with tonics anywhere else in the game. So we changed it to function the same way as all tonics. However, I’ll look into changing it so it works the same as the kodan/watchknight tonic.

Wvw is open pvp, there’s no “one” way to play it as can be seen by the many different types of players and combat situations that happen. Roamers, duelers, havoc, defenders, scouts, ppt’ers, gvg fight groups, guild zergs, blobs, they all have a place in wvw, this isn’t spvp where your only purpose is to keep people off cap points and win in 10mins.

There are players who like even fights and ask for it. Respect is a two way street, you may not give any respect for duels and gvgs, but somewhere down the line you may run into a situation where that respect isn’t given back to you even by your own team.

Play however you want and kill whomever you want, listen or don’t listen to whomever, that’s up to you.

Hey man… if you want to mess with gvg’s go right ahead… just don’t come back here and complain when 20 guys hammer you down and your team mates are staring at your corpse laughing. Guilds do use guildhall arenas, but it’s not the best place to fight. Some fights don’t last that long so players don’t want to port to OS or guildhall unless they plan on spending a few hours fighting.

As for dueling, what if you were on the other side suddenly getting outnumbered in a singles fight, would you like that? Granted people don’t respect this on either side, some people welcome the help, some don’t. Ultimately it’s up to you on whether or not to join in, if someone who is actively dueling asks for you not to join then leave them be and move on, and if they do it in a rude fashion make a mental checknote of their name and never help them out again.

Oh man, I wonder how many on BG came back for the the change.

Meanwhile on TC at 45mins into reset, has a queue of 2 on tcbl and 0 everywhere else. XD

Aaaaaand you guys are still arguing over the numbers when the important thing is how teams fight under the two different settings. You can try and hand out more points to 2nd and 3rd from 321 to 543, but it makes no difference with 1st slapping whomever they want around.

what ends up happing with 5-4-3 or 3-2-1 is the server in second place does everyting they can to remain second, so the best way to remain 2nd is to attack the server in third, even when the 1st place server has capped your whole BL as long as you score more than the server in 3rd you still get your points. this results in the 3rd place server constantly getting tagged teamed from start to finish.

another problem with 5-4-3 or 3-2-1 is score manipulation via night capping.
if the night capping server(which is usually 1st due to night capping) sees that the server in 2nd place is catching them in points, they will deliberately make them come third in the skirmish to widen the gap.

Exactly this, we’ve had four years to see this over and over again. 543 is not going to magically change how players play for 1st 2nd 3rd in 321.

Not to worry, they will implement rewards based on loyalty. The longer you stay on a server the greater the multiplier they will add to your magic find, thus a chance at better rewards. So if you’re a server for one month you will get a x0.01% multiplier, when you’re on a server for six months you will get x0.0000001% multiplier, when you are on a server for twelve months, you will get an extra chest of loyalty for weekly wins, but it only drops blues, level 20 and below, and only if open it on sundays.

Isn’t it the case that the team which would be first with 3-2-1 will still be first with 5-4-3, the team that would be second will still be second, and the team that would be third will still be third? Which means that the only difference is the glicko calculations…..

I have once again come back to retract my previous statement, to propose a brand new solution!

All servers off hours should have a lower population threshold. If a server has a population threshold of 1000 then off hours should only have 100, plus the map caps should be lowered to 20 during those off hour periods. This way you will force off hour players to move to other servers, to avoid queues on those few servers that have stacked their coverage from the beginning!

Another problem solved with a simple solution.

Yeah guys carry a guardian with you at all times.

If you are being stun locked and without a guardian it means you are problably fighting a outnumbered fight that you shouldn’t be winning anyway.
Honestly, I never got stunlocked unless I’m fighting alone against multiple enemies. I feel immobilize stacking is a much worse problem than stun since you cannot break out of it unless you clear and immobilize is rather low on the condi clear priority.

Thought this thread was about cc in general and not just about stunlocks?(well ok I guess pull is a stunlock) cause I use stunbreakers skills, that’s not a problem since you know every single class has access to stunbreaker skills, unlike stability. But in any case I do believe some diminishing returns on cc’s should be in place.

And yes immobilize stacking is/was a problem, I argued about that back when they changed the traits system and conditions especially burning got a major boost, when engineers would slap you with immobilize and take a condi dump on you to melt you from 100-0 in a couple seconds, and all you have to rely on is rng condi clearing. But yay the condition system is great so who cares!

Having a skill that completely takes away your best defense skill in dodge and then have to rely on the rng clearing is bloody stupid.

Funny – most of the matchups of the 2-1-1 weeks the only thing I saw that had yet to be determined by Friday was who came last.

Funny – that was usually determined by the end of the weekend in the old system (which has returned).

Anyways blah blah blah argue over numbers you all want, it’s returning to the old system. 321 543 975 it doesn’t matter, players will play the same under those conditions go for the easiest points, so I hope the third place teams have stocked up on tampons for their behinds.

Quarterly reports Q4 2016

Q4 is usually their biggest quarter for sales for the year for them regardless of an expansion, so when the numbers look the same from the previous Q3… that should signal some alarms that something is wrong. Then again most of the other ncsoft games did the same, except for lineage.

Lack of content is probably the biggest reason for players leaving and not spending as much on the game, if they’re not playing they’re not buying. Releasing content you can finish in a couple hours, and then spend the next two months mindlessly grinding the optional rewards isn’t going to keep everyone around. If you don’t put new worthwhile stuff to buy in the cash shop and just rehash sales of old stuff, then people won’t buy much either.

But hey hope they made good progress on the next expansion (nevermind not even finishing the current one yet).

Balancing and glitch fixes are currently scheduled for the 10 year anniversary date of August 28th 2022, although with the power outage they had on Monday, it will now be pushed back to August 29th 2023.

Everybody try to play to safe, take no risk, always move in group, never fight when outnumbered.

Um… duh? What do you expect? never fight outnumbered lol only a few specs are able to take on outnumbered fights, some players also built for specific roles like zerg or support and are not able to fight effectively in roaming scenarios (cause no build templates so it’s a pain to change for every situation).

But no one wants to fight outnumbered unless they are on a class that can handle it like a druid or escape from it like a druid or thief or mesmer. Groups won’t fight outnumbered if they don’t have a decent commander to lead them, that’s why people wait for numbers or for a break in the enemy. 10 pugs vs 20 enemy rarely ends well.

People would rather cap an empty tower…than enjoy a challenging fight…

Some people enjoy that part of the game, some don’t, some don’t care either way. Up to you to find the group you want to fight, if you don’t want to fight tower huggers…. don’t hang around towers….

Let me not even start on the roaming scene….nothing but condi bunkers so much that even thieves are now rare

Thieves rare? lol, two weeks ago I was out roaming and 70% of the classes I ran into were thieves the rest were either mesmers, druids, warriors. Even saw thief ganking groups around, both power and condi thieves, hard enough trying to break stealth and kill one thief imagine three or four of them around. That’s why roaming has gone to kitten.

You can’t blame the players on that, you can blame Anet and the kitten balance they refuse to look at for wvw cause “pve”. Players will take the easy road to victory, that’s human nature that you can’t change, that means taking the meta/op class/spec to win fights.

WvW Reward ideas

I didn’t want to make my post too long but was more thinking that the reward tracks would say need 10000 points and different activities would be worth their own amount so it would still be a bar but it would have hidden numbers. I just used examples for the weighting to complete one so SMC could be worth 1500 points but you don’t really know that you just see the bar go up a great deal.

I think when you base rewards on too specific tasks people will try and focus that and not play normally, which could hurt proper gameplay and tactics.

I think removing tournament tickets and just having the rewards inside a reward track would simplify things a lot but i don’t mind if they were still a thing.

Yeah I know what you were going for, unfortunately that’s not how the current system works and I’m not sure Anet would be willing to make changes for that. Weighted points for each activity out there would be better, as you mention more points for a smc capture over say a tower capture. It would take an enormous amount of work attaching points to most/every action you could do in wvw.

I Just don’t think it’s something they would do otherwise it would already be in the game with the regular reward track progress, instead of the current max participation system which is based off their HoT pve meta map system.

But your idea does spring another idea forward, of designing more wvw specific tracks for time periods, like how they handle the dungeon ones. You can still attach tournament tickets to the end of them, (they were still looking at ways to bring those back for the skins). There’s a number of ways they can handle that, just a matter of what anet think is the right amount of time for progression on those rewards.

WvW dead?

Well.. Elona is in tier 5 rank 14, where the smaller populated servers reside, they are winning that matchup though. Also activity during the week is usually lower than weekends for most servers in the game, yes even prime time, so pug players will usually head to EBG first to find action. You could also try getting on their teamspeak and see if any pug commanders are running around in there during those times.

WvW Reward ideas

Sounds like the season/tournament and reward track idea don’t need to be together, just really a time limit to do the rewards tracks much like say the dungeon ones that rotate if you haven’t run the dungeon to unlock it and do them at any time.

So really all you need to do is:
1. Design some reward tracks to give out tournament tickets, such as capture 20 keeps(not sure it’s a good idea to ask for specific tiers of keeps).
2. Open and run those specific tracks for 2 weeks every month or two, or maybe design four tracks and have them run one a week, so maybe week 1 of the month is capture 20 keeps, week 2 is capture 100 camps, week 3 is capture 30 towers, week 4 is kill 5000 players and capture 10 smc, then rotate.

It’s been established tournaments are not really a good idea, especially long term ones. I still think a one day/24hr tournament (reset being a good day since everyone in every time zone comes out for that), would be worthwhile and another way to distribute the tournament tickets.

P.S The reward tracks run on participation points not on item counts, the capture count is more like the old tournament achievements, so not sure they could make that change.

You can make accounts without associating credentials, and they can still spy.. so then what?

Spying will always be around especially with free accounts, not much you can do about it. Limiting accounts with associating credentials will just hurt households that have multiple family members playing the game, and kittening off customers you don’t need to be doing, anet already does a good job of that on their own.

I came back to game in November 2015…since then BG was opened exactly 3 times, each time for few hours only…so you must be using some good stuff to hallucinate that strong

You must be on some good stuff too if you think it was only a “few” hours at a time. Sure not a week at a time like some other servers, but goes to show how fast BG fills back up when they do open.

WvW change that would actually matter

I have no issue with double teaming, it’s the reason for 3 teams. My issue is having a double team targeting the weakest team most of the time, which will happen on victory conditions relying on points scoring.

Scoring will always make the bigger teams target the weaker teams for easier points, it’s just human nature to go after the easy road to victory. I don’t agree with mechanics that promote that type of game play. 211 is suppose to help promote double team on the bigger team, too bad players are lazy and don’t want to adapt.

As for your second statement, ktrains usually go after towers and camps first, with the new mechanic you suggest during that time they can hold the camps and weaken keeps before they get to them. You’re not really stopping their ktrain and giving them another “purpose”, you’re just adding to their power.

I’m not against the idea of the mechanic, I just think the idea needs to be fleshed out so that the weakest server isn’t in more of a disadvantage than it already is. I do think camps should be more important points of interest to promote more open field fighting, but doubt anet would put any work in for it.

WvW change that would actually matter

The good thing about this is it would force groups into a number of smaller objectives and promote fights there, as camps have a direct affect on structures they feed but now also be able to starve them.

The problem is, why would any force need to take on a fully upgraded structure ever again? other than if they know they can get an easy cap. Also the home side defending force is always at a disadvantage because they are fighting off two sides, numbers wise they already at a disadvantage in their home areas.

Then the real problem pops up when you take a closer look of it’s effects on EBG. Every side in EBG has 2 camps, but what happens when green and blue decided to camp each of red’s camps? Red which now has to deal with 2 zergs blocking their supply, and also worry about structures downgrading.

As for this being a common tactic before, yes havoc teams use to take camps and starve supply to keeps, punch holes in the keep so the defenders would have to repair. build more siege, and drain their supply. Only thing is, that was before auto upgrades were in place, upgrades go through no matter what, all dolys do is speed up the timer when one gets in. Another reason why havoc guilds died off.

This tactic might be useful the 211 era but that’s being changed, since it’s suppose to promote going after the winning side, but yeah 543 is coming so double teaming on the weakest team will the easy route to victory again.

Other than that, you can thank Anet and their crack team on class balance that forces players into certain classes to be effective in certain combat situations, which was made worse with HoT.

Blackouts: A way to get players to transfer to a full server in off hours.
Hibergate: A way to lower player participation to open up a server.

Then there’s all the “I want to play with my friends” threads that Anet finally had to put up a stickied thread about it.

Freegate: Threads created by the Blackgate community in an appealing effort to Anet to open their server. Usually the message is I want to play with friends and family, or guilds are losing players we need fresh recruits, or we need more roamers.

Then there’s every thread talking about BG that always seems have the propaganda that “BG is a stable server” and “we have fights 24/7” and “we have a great community”

Beastgate: When the community is steam rolling the opposition with blobs, nothing seems to be able to stop them with the exception of Hibergate and Boredgate.

If BG was such a great community and stable why do they always need more players?

Paragateia: Effects of paranoia sets in when operation Hibergate turns into Retiregate, which is when players go on longer than scheduled break, temporary or permanent. Players that do return see 3 queues instead of 4, which triggers anxiety, fear, and delusions that the server will fall into tier four. This can lead into a Freegate, and then a Stackgate situation.

Stackgate: Recruit as many guilds as you can with gold, this usually happens after with a Hibergate or previously Blackouts.

Boredgate: The state of Blackgate wvw when they are not playing for anything special such as tournaments, the first links, or pve events open for a limited time which they need to participate in, or also against Maguuma.

I will vigilantly stand by the point that ascended gear should not be easily accessible, i highly disapprove of the actions of Anet for allowing Ascended gear to be so easily gained through PvP ranked. is was an entirely dumb way to entice people to play PvP ranked and it set a bad precedent for people in WvW wanting the same thing

yes, im for people leaving wvw getting ascended gear, im not for those game modes making it so easy to the point that it impacts other game modes heavily. purely because how badly anet set the currency to be cheap and easy to obtain in PvP. heck, im sure there a good way to time gate/use currency to buy ascended gear in WvW, but i really dont trust Anet to put in a good way, to implement a system in gaining ascended gear with WvW currency.

Fair enough, I do agree with your opinions in those areas.

Unfortunately the door for ascended earned in spvp has already been opened…

im not for WvW being able to purchase ascended gear for WvW currecny. because you’ll just want people to come for WvW just for ascended gear and leave, thats now how you maintain a healthy population. we had this same issue during Christmas with PvP where people would leave WvW, making the game mode a wasteland on all sides, just to get ascended gear in PvP.

You said it yourself, people from wvw went to spvp, because guess what, it was easy to get a set of ascended gear, then they left anyways. So apparently it’s ok for this to happen in spvp but not wvw. They wouldn’t need to leave in the first place if they had a proper way to obtain it in wvw now would they.

Also if people come to wvw just for ascended they’ll need to get the currency first, I certainly wouldn’t set the currency to be like 1000 badges and 2 gold for a pair of boots. At minimum a lot of proof of heroics and gold would be involved, ideally I would setup weekly or monthly short run events to earn tournament tickets in order to purchase a set over a few months with tickets and gold, thus preserving cost and time to obtain.

But hey whatever, wvw doesn’t need ascended, no need to add something to bring people into it like they did with spvp, it’s a dying bad mode anyways.

without gear being a thing, there already a lot of barriers that stopping new players from playing WvW, making ascended gear more accessible wont fix the amount of issues or get rid of barriers that exist in the game. fresh players new to wvw wont have access to ascended gear. so you want to instantly put that disadvantage for new players with flimsy gear? thats entirely the reason why WvW is set up that way, as i already touched on, making ascended gear more accessible will create more problems than it will fix

There is always going to be a barrier between new and vet wvw players, no matter what. Uplevels are not even boosted to exotic levels and they have to endure that from level 2 or 60 whatever their account is. Then they still need to farm badges to purchase wvw exotics when they get to 80, all the while they will still get creamed by exotic or ascended geared veteran players anyways.

What would help new players is to get the best gear available sooner rather than later, once they get the gear to that point they can worry about the “other barriers” and stop blaming a lack of gear as a problem for them. Maybe you think only 10% of wvw players have full ascended at this point, my thinking would be closer to 50% but who knows. Either way I wouldn’t mind handing newer players ascended a little faster than the current wvw rng/time gating.

Depends on what you do in game, roamers, havoc, scout/defender players obviously wouldn’t be gaining the same amount of rewards of a zerger. If you’re still building magic find a lot of gear is broken down instead of sold. And yeah transfers, especially those guilds that like to move every couple months. Selling the mats you build up in wvw every couple months can net you a decent amount though.

i care more than you, i care enough to tell good points, not only that, but you couldn’t show me the courtesy even give me a good rebuttal to your flawed opinion. because you decide to take the easy way out. which shows a lot about you wanting easy free ascended gear

if you wanted things easy, you could of said so, you don’t need put forward a broken argument to tell me so

Well maybe if you came back at me with more than “your argument holds no water cause reasons, go grind for mats” I would have bothered. I’ve given my fair share of input for wvw over the years, it’s the only reason I play gw2 for wvw, it’s god kitten sad the state it is in today, and even more sad when players come in here to hold back sensible improvements for it.

Also, player do step out of WvW to get the gear that they need, Why? because you have to, to play WvW

No kidding, that was my point. You think pve players like being forced into wvw? the majority of them don’t, the same goes for wvw players being forced into pve to get what they need for wvw.

Also I never asked for free ascended, I’m asking for a proper way to purchase ascended like pve and spvp has right now, we already have the free method it’s wait for 1/10000 chances to drop a random ascended box, which is also the worse way to obtain ascended in the game.

And no you don’t give two cares about wvw or improving it. You come in here to tell us we don’t need ascended, that you hope wvw never gets an easier way to obtain ascended when the other two game modes have it, including one that doesn’t even need it in the first place. That wvw is a bad game mode. FYI there’s already a gear barrier in place between ascended and fresh 80’s, there’s probably a decent amount of players with at least 1 set in wvw by now.

You want to hold that barrier in place to forcing new players and wvw players to go grind for mats and gold to make their sets, rather than maybe gearing up faster through wvw currency/gold instead. So that maybe those players can make up ground and be on a more even gear level, but oh no, you better go grind your mats and gold, you’re in a bad game mode and that’s all you deserve.

I’ve said my piece, regardless of whether or not stats between exotics and ascended make a difference to whomever, or whether you need it or not, wvw should be given the same access to the gear as the other two game modes.

Thats not what I heard from guildies that transferred to BG…they run about 15 people group and consider leaving BG and coming back because wherever they hit with 15, Mag zerg them down with 3:1 numbers, even at camps

I heard Blackgate use to do the same to Dragonbrand, and then every other week.

if ascended gear is already assumed to be a easy to obtain in all the other games modes. then why does it matter in WvW. there is no reason to put ascended armor and weaps in WvW if the other game modes already offer it. stop being lazy, go craft it

Because players do not want to step out of their main game mode to get the gear they want, what do you not understand about this? For 4 years wvw players have complained about having to go to pve to supply their main game preference, guild halls was a pve grind to get their bonuses in wvw, some of the new stats combinations were only available in pve.

How happy would pve players be if ascended only came from spvp? How do you think spvp players would feel about having to raid in order to unlock an amulet set?

Let me put things in another perspective in regards to the stats. How do you think players would feel in spvp if there were two sets of amulets available, one is exotics as it is right now, and one is ascended only available those that make it to legendary rank, do you think players would be happy with a divide in stats like that?

I have my ascended set, I still think it’s kittenkitten stupid that that they placed wvw under pve rules but don’t want to provide the gear there.

Still no reason why wvw shouldn’t get purchasable ascended gear, or better drop rates.

also. theres many ways to get ascended gear. you just have to go outside of wvw. heck you can even straight up by ascended crafting items from the TP and make them yourself. and the new reward track drops ascended materials.

it all comes back to a money or time sink if you want ascended gear.

Still doesn’t mean WvW shouldn’t get a fair shot at acquiring ascended, pve gets fractals and raids, spvp gets you a set for playing the season, wvw still relies on terrible random drops.

We got any mind readers in the house? If you’re going to ask for a redesign you should present a design or at least point out the problems that need to be fixed. What exactly needs to be redone? There’s a jumping puzzle area and arena area.

If they are going to redo OS, first thing they should think about is making it open to green/blue/red sides than servers like eotm. So people can go there to fight and not be restricted by tiers.

*Rotate DBL each week so it is not limited to red side only..one week green, next week blue, then red, and repeat etc.

Best thing I want to see from that is Maguuma rolling up the same color the dbl rolls up lol.

WvW Quality of Life Improvements as suggested by Anet.

  • Add an option for reduced nameplate clutter. – yes!
  • Add cross-map team chat. – yes!
  • Add objective-summary tool tips. – meh
  • Add a display effect for Righteous Indignation on map markers. – yes!
  • Add floating indicators when gaining points toward war score. – meh
  • Add a WXP-gain sparkle trail. – meh
  • Add a territory-control map overlay. -meh

Others I’d like to see.

  • Commander tag more visible over nameplates in game, sometimes it gets lost in the nameplates especially if the player is asuran, which sometimes leads to having to place a target reticle on them, which defeats the purpose of the commander tag.
  • Squad only commander tags, visible on the map to only those in the squad.
  • Showing proper linked world names for player name tags, for example for Darkhaven and Ehmry, instead of only showing Darkhaven tags, it would show both to allies and enemies.
  • Changing the color of the current target arrow to another color and and perhaps shape or size (I know, not a wvw only issue). At times it’s fairly easy to lose your targeting when you target downed players who also have the small red down arrows on them.
  • Abbreviated guild names under their icons on the flags for any claimed areas.
  • Update Outnumbered buff to perhaps provide a minor bloodlust stat boost.
  • Npc guards and lords updated to wear Triumphant armor, and Mistforged hero weapons.
  • Power of the mist rewards showed as a buff with server name and percentages, to players of that world in wvw and pve. (That’s if the rewards stay with the skirmish score changes). Perhaps if pve players see the buffs they get from wvw they may want to help in wvw more.
  • For an example when you hover the mouse over the buff:
    Blackgate WvW bonuses for Pve.
    Artisan: 20% increased chance of crafting critical success.
    Gatherer: 20% chance of additional gathering node uses
    Defender: 10% increased defense against monsters.
    Energetic: 10% endurance regeneration bonus.
    Medic: 10% increased healing effectiveness
    Robust: 10% increased maximum health
    Scavenger: 10% bonus coin per kill.
    Wisdom: 10% bonus experience per kill.

Couple others added.

  • Display percentages for the health of walls/gates you target.
  • Going along with the RI displays on the map, maybe also display the amount of supply currently at a structure.
  • Reward tracks, allow one track to be marked as default, which the system will revert to when the current track is completed.

At least they could Check whats wrong with Server sorting system…

It’s rng with glicko ratings, there’s nothing for them to look into for sorting.

Also, they were on green week of dec30-jan6, just been on some bad rolls as they bounce up and down between the tiers.

Maguuma built its army from BG drops. our server has more fully ascended geared players and owners of precursors than any other server ty to BG.

Who cares. All y’all know how to do is blob. They should change the name of your server to BLOBUUMA . Y’all blob down even one to 5 players, pretty hysterical really. And, you have to have spies or you can’t win.

Congratulations, you’ve just found out what it feels like to be an opponent of blobby BG for the past 4 years, pretty hysterical indeed. It’s T1, it’s blobby, it is known.
