Advent, i’m with you about the Elite. Who wouldn’t kill for an elite like this
Well, to sum the video up: A shield that makes you invulnerable to projectiles.
Compared to feedback: A shield that makes you invulnerable to projectiles and makes them attack their owners instead.
+ the enemies attack and move also slow – chilled.
Image: 10 seconds chill, weakness (?), projectile absorbation.
- Mind Stab (Is this GS3? If yes – yes)
- Chaos Armor (Definitly – it should work like a self Chaos Storm (boons))
- Phantasmal Mage (Longer Durations, but pretty ok atm)
- Mimic (No, this skill is kittening awesome! Should grant Stability tought)
- Veil (Too long CD, doesnt last long enough)
- Signet of Midnight (passive) (Yes, weak)
- Signet of Inspiration (passive) (Not bad, nor strong. Just ok for sharing stolen might stacks)

(I’m PvE only, so I can’t say if its op in PvP / WvW :P)
(my favourite:)
What do you guys think?
I understand the set colour, but butterflies? Why can’t I change them to roses, eyes, feathers, leaves (silvary mesmer), just something individual :o
Numbers are more or less ok (unbuffed). But how can you said that’s low DPS? With 3 phantasms and your own attacks… Maybe I just missunderstood your first post.
If i read it again – yes :P I meant a single phantasm deals relativly low dps. However they still got first strike, then cd and not vise versa wich grants them burst. Also they got utility (reflection, combo finisher) and are up to 3 phantasms. The nubers were unbuffed.
If your numbers are not accurate then this is not their true DPS and your argument is invalid. There is a reason you go Phantasm build in PvE and Dungeons, please come back with real numbers before making claims because so far they are unsubstantiated.
There is no “accurate” nubers, since they copy cat your own stats. Your argument is invalid The numbers are correct more or less, you can argument with them.
Stop Zerging -> problem solved.
Very productive ….
Phantasms deal low DpS. DpS means damage per second and if an iDuellist attacks every 5(?) seconds with 5k it makes him 1k dps wich is about melee GS aa. Only the iWarlock has a good dps against well condition affected enemies. He comes up to 3k DpS.
What? Come on!
It sounds worse than it actually is.
Phantasms burst, so in open world they grant you higher dps (since the mob dies too fast). For example you cast ISwordie, he hits for 5k, waits 5 sec and hits again 5k, the enemy dies. Then he did 2 attacks in 5 sec, gives him 2k DpS. Or heaviest scenario, if you cast him in the end, he spawns attacks 5k kills -> 5k DpS. But over time its about 1k :P (champ, dungeon, …)
You also can have up to 3 phantasms at the same time and image 3 Warlocks who grant you 9k DpS sustained and you did nothing yourself at this time.
Also there are heavy aoe hitters like the warden or zerker. The iBerserker hits for 8k ever 6 sec i guess. This results in 1333 DpS per enemy, wich means against 5 (max targets of iB) enemies hit grants 6666 DpS per iBerserker.
However it’s all theorycrafting, phantasms aren’t that awesome neither that bad. Just be sure to pick the right weapons (phantasms) against the right enemies
€dit: Sure the nubers aren’t accurate, I can’t check them right now :P But the CD of phantasms are between 4-12 sec afaik and the damage they deal are just the damage i deal with them at lv80 ^^

Bleeding cap needs to get a new cap at 50 stacks, it’s terrible atm >_> Except for solo, you can’t use conditions but at solo world explorations direct damage is just better too (since its not sustained dmg).
Ahh, now I see your problem. But why do you need this? You got your stats, now go to Lion’s Arch and cast phantasms on the dummies. You can see e.g. the iDuellist going for 2500 damage there, whereas the iSwordsman does 2200. If you got x% more power, they both will deal x% more damage.
I once tested all sword and GS skills with 0 power and 200 power traited. I noticed that every skill gets the same amount of additional % damage. E.g.:
Sword 1 and 2 (random numbers, just to get you the point)
S1 1: 500
S1 2: 500
S1 3: 750
S2: 2000
now with lets say 200 power they “do”
S1 1: 550
S1 2: 550
S1 3: 825
S2: 2200
they all increase similiar by x% (10% in this case for an easy example).
I’ll continue my research about this and all phantasms. I’ll let you know.
Its funny and not bad but its complicated and kinda useless i know :P
Haste is ok, but not at that trait and at 25 it’s not really acessable. If you want phantasm damage you won’t do shatter, so you don’t need that path, also phantasm damage is at 10/X/X/25/X. +30% damage is sure better, especially if they die after the first attack.
btt: phantasms copycat your own stats, thats why the tooltip sux i guess. it could be because its “your damage + base damage” whereas the base damage is the tooltip and doesn’t change. Or its just buggy I guess last one xD They definitly get stronger with more power, don’t worry.
Phantasms deal low DpS. DpS means damage per second and if an iDuellist attacks every 5(?) seconds with 5k it makes him 1k dps wich is about melee GS aa. Only the iWarlock has a good dps against well condition affected enemies. He comes up to 3k DpS.
btt: I like the idea of this, but I would increase the start damage to 120%, then go down by 1% each second. Otherwise fast attackers are weaker and f.ex. iWarden doesn’t give a kitten :P But it’s true in WvW die often die immediately and in PvE you will allways have 2 phantasms and 1 clone ready to replace by the same amount of p and c.
Why shatter + phantasm? o.O better go 20/20 or 10/30 → ?/?/0/30/0
can you post the 3 runes / enhancements? wiki is blocked here :P
tell us more about the leaks :O
so … 50% :O looks a bit high to me, but maybe you’re right? anyone can check the wiki :P ?
I don’t know wiki blocked here :s
I’ve only seen necro to be “good” with conditions. Even a neco – the master of conditions – will be disabled a bit by the terrible bleeding cap. Engineer on cons is terrible too compared to power engi.
But con. mesmer? I mean even staff is mainly power based. Scepter too and torch is con dmg. But To go full condition is really bad, since your damage will be as low as the health of an assassin You should (if you wanna go staff + scepter / torch) focus on hybrid damage. It works very well and you will be able to actually use staff 3, empower 1 and 5 and other set your scepter 3 hits kitten aswell the block n’ aa.
Why would you go for conditions? Its only one skill :s Or what skills support you in con.mesmer?
It doesn’t matter how much armor they got, does it? Lets say 1000 damage and 1333 damage (33%+) against 2600 armor. Against 1300 armor you should deal 2000 damage and 2666, shouldn’t you? The calculation was “/armor” in the end, so its a facor and allways %. Bad english i hope you get it :s
Chaos armor should apply the boons without getting hit, 1 per sec, like chaos storm, but just for you love me
tought ot asks for dungeon guide :o if you cast 3, 5, 3 with sword focus you wont miss
How about a useful chaos trait?
You just talk about the secondary stuff. The main reasons to take sword / iS are the block, the 100% hit (no meatshield) and the fast attacks. In Orr for example its very useful to cast the iS. He will attack, then you do your 3, 2 and he already attacks again, mob down :P Just sayin ^^
Chaos armor is about the numbers you don’t see and not the numbers you see. Also it’s mainly on staff. Thats why colesy doesnt like it :P
And no I haven’t tried all the bosses, so I guess you are more expirienced than me in that case. However we can switch the sword with the pistol any time we want to. So I like the sword more agains heavy hitters (block) and the pistol more against anything else, especially when you need to interrupt them (5).
As I said – I use EVERY weapon … just torch seems too weak for pve
The sword is great against enemies with a single target nuke or high damage. The iSwordsman deals about the same DpS as the iDuellist (pistol) but has no combo finisher. However it can NOT be meatshielded (sniper). Forget about bleeding too a bit, since iSwordsman attacks 3 times when the iDuellist does 2 attacks. Also it’s not really true that the iSwordsman dies often cuz in close range… He’s safe most of the time … also he got a leap wich grants him buffs like chaos armor wich is devasting against attackers. And 8k HP isn’t nothing with chaos armor on
Phantasms should simply wear legendaries. Change iWarlock to staff whielder btw
… Image an iDuellist with 2 Quips
The sword is great against enemies with a single target nuke or high damage. The iSwordsman deals about the same DpS as the iDuellist (pistol) but has no combo finisher. However it can NOT be meatshielded (sniper). It also has a high damage reflecting block on 4 with a low cd.
TL;DR: general go focus, against bosses or some situations pistol or sword. As for me, I got them all ready in my inventory.
wrong. iSwordsman has a leap finisher .
Thx! Totally forgot about that – I was focusing on offensive finishers, but you’re totally right and this is very important. If you (happens often) cast etheral combo fields you will grant the phantasm chaos armor. If he gets attacks it procs → awesome.
Sad, would have pmd you ingame if you were EU however – gl hf
To be honest, my history:
Started mesmer,
played mesmer,
played engineer,
played mesmer,
played necro,
played mesmer,
played thief,
played mesmer,
played ele,
played mesmer,
played engineer,
played mesmer,
. . .
Mesmer is by far the funniest way to enjoy this game. He can do so many things, allrounder Engineer is great too, but the others are “boring” in general compared to messi
The focus is the main weapon in PvE. He has a good “burst” but crappy DpS, but the iWarden has an aoe that hits up to 5 targets, pretty amazing. Also it’s able to reflect projectile if traited – and boy, you WILL trait it. Also you can pull mobs together, go with main weapon sword 3, cast iWarden, 3 again for hold, ensure the damage of the warden. Focus is the main weapon you should go.
Pistol and Sword both are single target and bring less utility. They are – however – much better against a few taff mobs or against bosses.
The pistol is great against enemies with damaging auras or aoes around him. It has a good range. However the projectiles will be blocked by adds if they meatshield the enemy maintarget. 20% combofinisher – traited hiddenop (bug?) 100%. Also its 5 is a great stun, wich is very useful against mobs like in Twilight Arbor to interrupt the vines.
As for me, I got them all ready in my inventory.
o.o’’ … oh you …
xD
Roughly the difference between kitten and zerk is this (random numbers):
Assa: 2000 Power, 75% crit chance, 100% crit damage = 4250 ø
Zerk: 2430 Power, 50% crit chance, 100% crit damage = 4250 ø
Just theory, but its like this in the end – it doesnt matter that much. Get the ascended stuff you like more (colour). Unless you build on many crits.
I would go for Zerker. I made the calculations with Sword and Greatsword and there, berserker is stronger. But it depends on your runes and sigils. In the end it doesn’t matter. Zerk/Assa are about the same, its not a noticable difference.
And use Sword/Focus + anything. Staff is ok and very underrated in my option me gusta
go for 10/15/0/25/0 and fill in the other 20 points where ever you want to. Take phantasm damage, crit for phantasms and reflection with focus + another glamour buff. its almost must have
greez madame
Threre are so many mesmer threads on this forum … but they all escalate with colesy, me, some random guys, the ot and allways about the “swordsword VS gs” thing xD
NEVER ENDING CIRCLE
Chaos armor should protect you when hit and not help you evading hits. So I don’t like the idea of getting speed when not hit. But it would be great if you get the boon upon activating CA (not reciving, would be op as combo field stat). Mesmer could use some mobility.
You should try every weapon, research all their skills. Also, I would prefer staff over greatsword IF you are completly new. Conditions just scale bad into lategame (80) but deal a big amount of damage in early game, since they deal fix damage and you don’t have as much power as one lv80. Don’t think much about my sentence, just go for a staff first, it deals same damage as the greatsword but has much more utility. later, just keep both
as offhand for leveling, sword and focus. The focus 4 is a nice speedbuff and saves you plenty of time for traveling. Also it has a great damage output combined with sword 3 Its much information I know but keep playing your mesmer, about lv40 you will become MUCH stronger. Its because of your traits (passives)
are you EU or US?
Oh … clones Tought illusions >.< whyyyyy D;
WAIT WHAT??? Is it what I think it is!? So my kittening IDuellist will kitten the ears of my allies when I’m using THE QUIP ????
I agree with cloesy, GS isn’t that great weapon as everyone thinks… It’s damage is lower than the 1hS but the GS has huge AoE burst and a safe distance. But thx to 1hS 2 it’s safe aswell
GS is great for trakitten has an awesome phantasm, 3 is “ok”, 2 is pretty good too, it has an aoe interrupt but after casting everything, its aa is weak. However, if you attack the right target, you may hit 3 enemies at once (hidden op: Scepter hits 5 with 3 ;D). Thats why I only use it for 2, 4, 3, 2, 1… SWAP -> I swap every 10 sec, so I can enjoy my sigill wich grants me 6 stacks might forever
But in the end I can just quote colesy: Sword > [enter weapon here] :P However I would never use it 2 times as swap-mesmer.
fractales are pretty rewarding if you kill more stuff. and i really WISH they would shift some dungeon reward to the mobs. every mob 0-3 token would be nice. Then we would do the dungeon like we should …
CoF p3 hard? Have I missed something? o.O
btt: fw/up is definitly hard, but I like it mroe than a boss like in up… I don’t like brain afk killing :/
It is very possible to do. There is still the limit of spiders on the field. If you dodge the spawn they become too many to respawn. Many players don’t know how it works, so lemme explain
1. Simply pull some spiders, kill them, do it again, up to the moment when there are no more spiders between you (at entrance) and the boss.
2. (also during 1. !) Dodge his AoE. He sometimes shakes his body, then eggs will fall down at you, causing damage, vulnerability and spawning spiders. If you dodge, they won’t spawn next to you. So they spawn somewhere around the boss. If you do this multiple time, while doing 1. you will be able to get to the limit where no spiders spawn anymore, not even when hit by the AoE.
3. Now this is the unfair part, since this way is just another dungeon exploit. You need a ranger or an engineer, maybe mesmer works too. ranger and engineer have 1500 range and mesmer GS bugs around and gets more than 1200 range somehow :P → you won’t pull aggro (not sure about mesmer). If you do it right, you can push the spiders so far back, that you even can attack at 1200 range.
I wish they would make the spiders less, and weaker, but unavoidable. I wan’t a FIGHT, not some exploid kitten … again
You can go 10/30 if you want some clones on evasion but 25 at Duelling is crappy :P you go there more for precision and crit damage.
I prefer 20/20 because there is a trait that crippels enemies for 4 or 5 seconds whenever a clone dies. It sounds meh but it’s one of the better traits we got. The cripple is aoe with a range same as the chaos storm… also your illusion will go BOOM instead of poof xD If you play GS only (I often switch with staff so I don’t do it :P) you also could get the 20% CDR and damage for GS.
Molch and colesy are definitly right. Focus on phantasm damage, aoe if you can and reflection.
Go 20/20/0/30/0 or 10/30/0/30/0. You can do your own build but you NEED 10/15/0/25/0. There are the best skills like 2x +15% phantasm damage and bleed on crit aswell phantasm perma fury.
So much text, keep it short and clear
Overall, what you need in PvE as Mesmer is damage and reflection (!!!). Your main damage comes from phantasms and reflection traits fits well weith phantasms.
Go 20/20/0/30/0 or 10/30/0/30/0. Your phantasms deal 30% additional damage wich is everything you’ve ever dreamed of.
For me I keep every single mesmer weapon in my inventory, just in case. I use the staff often, most of the time in harder situations or against bosses. I love the staff more than the gs (playstyle) but gs gives more aoe damage but also lacks in utility.
I want to mention at this point – I AM glad that you actually wright something It means you’re still there. (unlike other forums *cough*DE*cought*) :P
Also, it’s funny, sometimes the normal (awesome) sound seems to play. But I have no idea when and why. And it’s strange – it never works in Lion Arch. o.O
Keep the news up And thx for your communication ^^ gives a cookie
You got any news Cody Crichton? :S
- ITimekeeper: Deals small damage. Causes to stop the timer of all conditions at the target for 3 seconds. Boons will pass with double speed for 3 seconds. Hits 2 targets (bounce).
This is a very mesmery mechanic. I like the idea!
And I don’t think there’s need to balance it with the boon counterpart: it’s a long cooldown squishy phantasm after all.
It was meant that enemies conditions last 3 seconds longer and HIS boons are passing faster for 3 seconds :P
Then plz don’t qq here, push the actual treat!!
It would be nice to have a rotation on the F skills with 0 CD:
First click, all Clones will going to shatter, now you have 1 sec time to send the Phantasms if you wish so. The Problem is: The damage calculation of F1 -> The damage gets less if you shatter more Illusions. So actually it would be a great buff! (Shattering 2 and 1 Illusion deals more damage than 3 at once).
How about that idea?
Um, I must be completely missing something here. Explain what you mean the damage gets less the more illusions you have to shatter please. Only thing I can think of is the effect that compounding power has, but you don’t actually lose damage you just get less additional damage from the amount of illusions left alive when they shatter (the base damage does not get less). Example, compounding power gives 3% damage per illusion alive, you have multiple illusions at various ranges so they don’t all blow up immediately, as each individual illusion shatters you drop 3% bonus damage.
If you shatter 1 illusion, you will deal for example 1000 damage. If you shatter 2 illusions they deal 2x 800 and not 2x 1000. And at 3 they go down to 3x 700 for example. Shattering multiple illusions will increase the overall damage but normally shattering 3 instead of 1 illusion brings just the double damage and not three times. I don’t llike this but it’s how it works. Check your F1 skill. F2 doesn’t get weaker btw.
back to topic:
Removing the Utility phantasms from shatter is a great idea IF (!) you can still have 3 other Illusions out there. So if you use the two utility phantasms you could have 5 illusions right? Then it would be ok. To balance it i would limit them to 1 of the same kind, so idisenchanter destroys himself after recast.
It would be nice to have a rotation on the F skills with 0 CD:
