Not talking about a rune… Sigil is what we are discussing, the one that goes in your weapon…
WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH My bad -.-‘’ In another games you’d put runes into weapons I’m sorry, what does the sigill give you?
If you assume that you would recive 10 silver per champ (selling the items you gain) it would mean that you have to slay 1000 champions. A day has 1440 minutes and I don’t think you’re gonna play 24 hours and kill a champ ever 1:30 min… Even if you find 10 exotics that day, selling each for 3g = 70 = 700 champs, still too much.
liar
Best build fo fotm is 0/20/0/25/25
It’s allways narrow-minded to say “it’s the best build”. It works the best for you doesn’t mean it works the best for everyone. Don’t “mutate” to colesy 2.0
Due to the fact the most important skill in fotm is reflection
This. Reflection in fotm is godlike. You feel a huge difference if there is a reflecting mesmer around instead of a full mantra dude or a hybrid shatterer.
and thus traiting focus and illusionist celerity are a must.
Traiting focus is one of the most important skills you got. It’s simply awesome.
Illusionist Clerity a must? No. It’s simply one of those “really nice to have” skills, but in general it’s not helping at all in some playstyles.
For exmaple if you use GS only on a range and spam your zerkers it’s strong, however if you are a rota mesmer, going melee in general and playing with Sword/Focus and Sword/Sword, you’re gonna swap your weapons every 10 sec. So you got 20 sec cd on phantasms anyway. It helps you only for the opening to summon the phantasms faster. As for me – playing with sigill of battle (recommed it) – I swap as fast as I can and benefit much more from another inspiration passive and power trait. I’ve played with illusionist celerity too and I think it’s highly overrated (with MY playstyle).
Test new builds = knowledge = expirience = power.

Superior Rune of Tormenting
This rune is terrible, even for a condition build. I can image some uses in PvP, but definitly not PvE. We have exactly one torment skill wich shouldn’t be the main source of damage. It’s a defensive ability. Also additional 2 stacks of torment on heal are meh, and with 20s cd its just weak.
EDIT: Nevermind this post – it’s about the sigil, not the rune. My bad >.<

RL Money farm. An extra 1 or 2 hours of RL farming can earn you an 50-100g. Best time/gold rate.
8 hours/day=400g
7 day/week=2,800
30 day/month=12,000
365 day/year=146,000but if you can only spare 1 hour a day for RL money farm you still get about 36500/year. Not bad!
To be honest – this.
I could easy work 1 additional hour a day for +11.76% cash wich results into 25€ per day. Now I guess to invest 25€ into gold is more rewarding than farming 1 hour! And it’s even more fun to work. And at sundays I’ll even get 50€/hour so … I guess you get the idea.
Farming like a zombie is just stupid. Play a game for fun.
Bloodlust is also much stronger against objects and many dungeon and world bosses, whereas Perception is stronger if you have to make much use of reflection, since reflected projectiles aren’t affected by your own power but still crit with your crit ratio. However I recommend bloodlust too to be honest
After the update 0/20/0/30/20 would probably be a better option or 0/25/0/25/20 if you want better stats and less utility.
I would not sacrifice 5 points in inspiration and with it an awesome passive for a crappy passive and a few “better” stats. We are talking about 5% crit damage and 2% crit chance :P
Mesmers have almost no skills that deal good condition damage.
@Xyonon. Your comment was based on confusion and before the condition/precision build using Sup rune of Tormenting with a sup sigal of tormenting mechanic. Though this still may not be good. Just a new idea.
Can you comment on that idea and more importantly link a really strong PVE Mesmer build?
Thanks
My comment was based on any condition the mesmer can fight with.

Thanks all for the input! It was a good discussion. Can you link a great non-condition PVE/Champ build?
Well there are plenty. What are your favourite weapons? Or how do you play? Do you change your weapons, ranged, melee, mixed, changing skills much, glamour, mantra, shatter? Need some informations
I heared about that changes. But I really guess it’s just a hype for an overrated trait. I really use the 30 in inspiration and would not give the 3 best traits we have away for a bit more damage. Also 15 in domination deals tons of passive damage. My option, but gonna test it too after the changes.
Test new builds = knowledge = expirience = power.
20/20/0/30/0
You can switch between every weapon have all the important traits and its glamour/mantra friendly. It’s very flexible to adapt your sitations.
Scepter 1 should simply be not affected by other projectiles of itself. It waits until the projectil lands wich makes it even unable to use the time warp (just the animation is faster, it still wait till the projectile lands to continue the chain of 1).
→ faster attacks
Also if scepter 1 would stack vulnerability or heal, or buff or anything, the clones would be more useul than just stacking nothing or if traited bleeding on crits.
About Mimic: The skill is awesome but very frustrating if you wanna catch something and you simply get knockdowned. It also should prevent damage. Right not you absorb a projectile and take damage and shoot it back → a poor version of reflection.
→ stability?
→ prevent damage
Also it would be awesome to not reflect projectiles after. It should absorb everything and unleash the power on a chosen target. You would be able to redirect damage. AWESOME guys … :P
However, if it supplements power or you work with precision procs, it can be quite formidable.
Mesmers have almost no skills that deal good condition damage. However I have to agree that some hybrid builds deal pretty ok with most enemies. The problem is that they are focused on shatter and therefore won’t support much dungeon support. The damage is ok, and if it’s fun for you why not, however it’s not that awesome for others. And since mesmers aren’t going to be the dd’s in groups in first place, it’s a bit wasted potential.
In dungeons, it can create an interesting effect with staff clones. They deal extra damage based on how many conditions an enemy has but they don’t have to be your conditions.
Just … no. Staff clones do simply the 1 of your staff. You seem to mix them up with the P.Warlock. Its a POWER BASED phantasm that gains strengh from DIFFERENT conditions on the enemy. It doesn’t matter how strong those conditions are. Also – the staff is mainly a power weapon. Clone damage is weak, and just medium on a full condition build.
Hi! I know a lot of people say that condition sucks in PvE. I,on the other hand, had a different experience: i leveled a my first character ever (a mesmer) until lvl 40 using a condition-ish build. Then i changed to pure damage build with GS, S/P…didn’t turn out so well. I found that i did kill the monsters a lot faster, but i also died a lot easier and i actually spend more time running around than doing something interesting. What’s more, i simply could not take down any champion monster, i either died, or lost aggro and the monster revived himself…So i re-respecked at about lvl 60 into a full condition 0/20/30/0/0 build using Staff, Scepter/Torch and worked my way to 20/20/30/0/0. Having chaos armor up all the time when fighting tough opponents is really handy!
That being said, i’m fully aware that perhaps i didn’t really grasp the power build i tried to use. But i leveled just fine using condition in PvE so i can’t see why you can’t also do that if you want.
Now on the torment idea: I REALLY like it!In fact I might give it a try as well! I’m no expert but i think it could actually work fine.Your idea is better than using rune of the undead or perplexity…I have a question though: what gear would you use in order to get condition damage as well as precision?I guess rabid?
I don’t want to insult you but … what you just wrote here simply means you are not so clever with your movement and the whole gameplay or even with playing a mesmer.
Condition builds are often a little more tanky. But you’ll deal minor damage compared to a zerker build. Of course condition damage is good on early levels – simply because you just can increase 2 stats. When you can go for power, precision and crit dmg the first time, do it for more damage.
You just need to learn how to play that you won’t get hit. A mesmer is able to stay melee without taking any damage in PvE.
Also condition builds fit terrible in dungeon gameplay, simply because the broken bleeding mechanic (new bleed override old bleed at 25 stacks, ignoring condition damage).
Don’t run a condition build, it’s terrible for PvE in endgame content. Until 40 its pretty fun tough.
Guardian Shield, Necro Skull, Mesmer BUTTERFLY !!!! yes thats all…
To invest into the illusion trait is in general a bad thing in PvE anyway. Except for shatter builds ofc. However going for phantasms and waste so many points on good traits without any useful stats is highly overrated. For example to go to 10 just for the 3-9% additional mesmer damage is bad compared to 100 power or 4% crit chance + 10% crit damage and the traits there.

May I ask you if you are EU or NA? And are you maybe even german? I really respect somone that gives a nice picture of himself with the nice text. I can now know what you are looking for. So it probably would be easier ingame or even with teamspeak or something. I really enjoy your wall’o’text more than a simple “hi need dmg what build shall i go? solo”

PS: There is also “the Mantra Mesmer” ya know?
Illusionary Defender? Ever heared of it? If it wouldn’t take an utility slot it would be awesome …
Just had to get the new armor, looks sick!
What are those boots / gloves?
Well, plenty of the current skills aren’t really balanced. Actually iMage, scepter mechanic, phantasm support skills, veil, and many traits are currently imba.
Well staff is definitly the best range boss weapon. In a perfect situation (had it multiple times against dwayna) with 20+ might n’ vulnerability stacks with tons of conditions it dealt 25k damage… each
25k each from auto attack or p. warlock?
pW. Was the highest dmg I’ve ever had^^ Pretty fun to see such numbers as mesmer
(edited by Xyonon.3987)
There are new skills AND traits coming. Not just some “I need this for that dungeon” skills. They said to introduce such things for new combinations with new and old traits and skills. There is definitly new content coming, and I’m not talking about the LS.
Now remove the Shield MH throw and make it a bit more realistic. A 2h Shield for Guards would be nice, ultimate defense
And put “fan” to the mesmer list, NOW!!
Echo: Mimics the last skill used. CD = 2x original skill CD.
Mimic: Now absorbs all projectiles and blocks attacks for 4 seconds. After the duration you can cast the skill again (if something absorbed) and shoot everything against a single target. Also grants Stability for 4 seconds.
Elite: Dazing Gaze: Everything that faces you gets dazed for 2 sec. Duration 10 sec. CD 120.
^.^
Fans can look pretty awesome, especially with some dancing like moves.

If you want to be ranged and still recive boons you maybe should think about a close range scepter sword / greatsword combo. You got long range and shortrange with 2 blocks and good dps. Just a cleave is missing but you will get that one just by melee.
Image you didnt interrupt, “just” one daze. Everyone will deal ø7500 DpS approximately. Now Image you daze, 5 stacks for 10 sec. IF the enemy lives so long (bosses will still get vournability even with their buff on) You deal ~20’000 passive damage. Just – this – daze. Thats why I want this trait so bad.
Wait, what? 5 stacks of vulnerability for 10 sec result in total passive damage of half of your DPS, so if everyone is dealing 7500 DPS then the total damage is only 3750.
If everyone is dealing 7500 DpS, then you’re dealing 37’500 together per second. This for 10 seconds means 375’000 damage. 5% of 375’000 is 18’750 passive damage from your side. Well, I might have adjusted it upwards a bit :P
And the trait doesn’t even give 10 seconds of vulnerability, only 8 seconds. So in this example one daze would do 3000 total damage.
Dominion gives 1% condition duration, and since I got 20 points in it and vulnerability is a condition it will last 20% longer = 9.6 seconds.
Try 15/25/0/30/0. Gives you vuln on daze and all the reflect utility you need. Plus you get a good amount of precision and crit damage.
Why 25 in duelling? The trait is awful, just the stats are ok. But 2% crit chance and 5% crit damage are barely noticable. I strongly prefer a actually useful trait +50 power / 5% condition duration.
(edited by Xyonon.3987)
You obviously just skipped all the posts.
MH focus sound weird kinda. Can’t image this :o But I think it would be interesting to give the mesmer a shield aswell instruments.
Claws would be awesome for thiefs and necros.
and why no fan ?
Whip would be ok, a Dagger – not really. Pistol main hand ok with that.
BUT WHY IS THERE THAT ARTWORK AND NO FAN!?!?
I think they’d be a nice weapon addition in the future, sure. A crossbow would be another option they could consider adding in the future. What would be challenging is thinking of other types of weapons for more casterly types.

;) image the possibilities
The stat “attack” is just a number that looks cool but is not taken in any calculations for any skill or condition. Power (Crit Chance and Crit Damage) is for normal attacks and Condition Damage (Condition Duration) is for conditions. Anything else doesnt matter. Go Zerker – full Zerker
Misdirection? This is how mimic should work…
well wvw zergs are the exact opposite of pve dungeons. It’s like aoe vs single target :s sooo :P what to focuse?
Good morning everyone
So – the last weekend I played the 15/30/25/0 build a few … hours. Well to be honest – it sucked The missing 5 points at inspiration hurt pretty hard. Also I really felt nothing about the 25 and 30 from duelling. 25 sux anyway, but this was obvious. However I was knda disappointed about the 30 in duelling. +4% mantra damage felt better together with the 9% from the shatter trait when I was playing 30/30/0/0/10. However while not using mantras, the whole 10 points were waisted (except for the stats).
So I made some more testings and dungeons with another build. And Nretep was totally right! Hell healing mantras are kittening useful and fun with MoP I really underestimated the 1k heal per seconds per player (5k heal / sec). So I wen’t “back” to the original and totally best build I’ve ever had:
20/20/0/30/0. No waisted points for traits I don’t need, no bad passives, got mantra and glamour and the nice vulnerability aswell much weapon support.
I can go for a traited GS at dom20, aswell cripple for staff at dom20 (iWarlock / kitemaster). Also the increased condition duration support vulnerability aswell the staff WoC and synergizes with duelling15.
Speaking of duelling, sword trait and fury is totally enough there.
The true power seems to be at the inspiration tree. We really have the very best skills there. Supporting mantras and glamour and pretty much everything you need. Especially the "remove condition when you heal* thing. However in german it says “heal” and not “healing skill” wich made me test it together with the “mantras heal” thing. Sadly it does not remove a condition from me, neither from my allies snif…
Thx to everyone – I definitly found my “final” build until the new skills and trais come. 20/20/0/30/0 – never had so much fun with my mesmer
Xyonon aka Madame Le Blanc
(edited by Xyonon.3987)
I want a fan as a weapon
Threre are also fields you are unable to dodge. For example at the fire shaman, you can’t dodge trough the flame lines without getting burned. I guess necro fields are not just unblockable. But I’ve never been feared before in BF :s
Rappier would look awesome on him, aswell the zerker ascended pistol. That pruple stuff sux on red equip. However he looks pretty ok to me
Yup, any news would be great – recently sold all my pots – they just needed space -.-’’
EVERY phantasm does “fail” if used against a invulnerable foe. This works as intended.
clone on dodge not good with domination < 20
Dueling 25 and Chaos 10 are also “on clone death” traits. Since you prefer dueling 30, you already have one.
Dueling 25 is a crappy 3 enemy aoe wich causes confuses – the most terrible debuff in PvE :P Chaos 10 would be nice tough, however spending 10 points just for that is kinda’ bad trade. In my opinion.
change traits without paying -> dueling 30
don’t you mean inspiration 30 ?
No. Inspiration just grants me heal on mantra wich is not what I’m looking for. I tried mantra heal builds, it’s funny but in general unneceessary. However I’ve became a huge fan of the +4% per mantra during my 30/30/0/0/10 time. Sure it affects just me, but the damage is noticeable and is a multiplier wich are stacking even better in groups (might / vulnerability). Thats why it’s more important for me to go for dueling than for inspiration.
vulnerability
it’s a nice debuff, sure. But daze mantra has a pretty high recharge. During that time you could use other spells (feedback for combo; pDisenchanter; pDefender; boonshare; aoe blind). It’s a personal trade off, which brings “nothing” at bosses.
If you want vuln at daze, I’d also consider quickness on interrupt. Especially since you can interrupt with GS and focus, too.
Please keep attention to my other posts. This build is for adapting the situation. If I need Feedback, I use feedback and glamour, if I need damage or many little helpies, I go for mantras. Also F3 and sword 4 deal excellent with daze. Coming to this later again.
crippling trait
that’s also a nice debuff, but not necessary for melee chars – aka sword mesmers. We also have a great range crippling in the GS.
We have, but I prefer the staff against single enemy champions in solo. Many clones, 10% more damge for iW and kiting all day long. If the enemy champion is easier you just can go melee anyway. Lets see if I will miss it now (read to the end).
30 in dueling; what without mantras?
I barely ever unslot mantras, but there’re still enough useful traits in dueling adept/ master. PhantFury, BlinkRange, Sword … just to name the 3 most used ones (next to Deceptive evasion).
Deceptive evasion is nice and you don’t want to live without anymore, but it has alot flaws … you tend to dodge for offensive purposes. It’s like using your feet in aikido: “why would you sacrifice your even low stability (2 feet, seriously, nature) just for something you could’ve done without?”. And then the overwriting of phants in emergency cases.
Yup, I’m aware of this too. However mesmers have perma vigor, so it synergizes well with dom 15. This trait is awesome as opener with sword 3, dodge, dodge, F3. 15-24 stacks vulnerability and till it ends everyone got their own vul. on the enemy. Great against bosses I guess, when you pop kitten the beginning too (or better right after F3).
MoP + Restorative Mantras
Well, if you’d 100% cycle MoP, you’d have a 4.75s cycle with ~2800 AoE heal. If you “tank” a ranged boss you can outheal with spamming your healingmantra and mantra of pain. If necessary you can heal your allies/ illusions a bit. Especially without sacrificing your healingmantra charges.
Ah the low cd was the reason. Yea seems fun but again – just fun. You would not really have to heal that much if the enemy dies faster or you simpy evade attacks. The heal is pretty sexy to be honest. Almost 3 k ever … 3 sec? Well 1k HpS AoE = 5k HpS. Pretty nice thing actually. But as I said – heal OR deal damage, mantra design fail :s long charge time.
So I went today 15/30/0/25/0. I’ll test this this weekend. Wish me good expiriences Ty guys!
There are about 0 charr mesmers out there – make one, they are stylish as kitten Also they use the Gs with one hand, like a DOOM AT YOU-scepter
IV: Sword …
Totally agree with you.
IX: Pistol …
Well it grants actually just 300 range. I can’t make use of the cdr since I’m constantly weapon swapping (sigil of battle) so it’s anyway just once castable within 20 seconds. I see no reason for this trait especially after the combo finisher fix and since I don’t really use the pistol much.
X: Clones on dodge …
Hate this trait Dodging destroys normally phantasms and since I’m even unable to trait to 20 dom. then I won’t get a good debuff for destroying clones. Shattering will be strange too since I probably shatter at least a phantasm too. However 3 clones dazing for 15 stack vulnerability (spelled right thx to Nretep
) is kinda amazing. Sad it’s not AoE
(to be honest it should be 3 enemy aoe without traited -.-’’)
XI: mantra of distraction procs your dazzling, if your willing to use mantra of recovery that’s 8% there. especially in cases where you can do high damage to mobs with your reflects.
- I’ll also mention VII because of this. MoR + MoD + Mantra of Resolve. I’m not the biggest fan of the healing mantra, but MoD and MoR give some great offensive utility (through dazzling) and defensively (party con removal) and can really boost your reflects. if your taking XI, VII prevents too much down time on your boost.
- You could also swap to the mantra heal using this, but I would only do so if you don’t need phantasm health or focus reflects (just remember to swap back when you do need the reflect) but I can rarely think of a time this is the case (melandru on arah 4?)
Thats the point of the whole build. I enjoyed playing mantras and realized they are sometimes better than reflection, nullfield, or glamour in general. So I want a build wich allows me to switch the traits between glamour and mantra without retraiting depending on the situation. This is what I like to have. Thats why it requires a useful duelling 30 skill if i’m not using mantras
Well Xyonon, you followed my advice and realized that three charges are not necessary.
I followed your advice and tried it and what I realized was in a offensive and flexible build 3 mantras are > 2, however while playin with healing mantras 2 were much much better. I realized they are necessary depending on focus on dueling or inspiration
- Domination
- + illusion damage; no discussion
- except for the GS or the crippling trait I don’t see reasons to get more than 15 points in here. since you prefer sword (as I do) both reasons are fail. I don’t daze much in PvE (defiant …) and others do stack vulnerability better than mesmers.
15 point for the voul … i mean vulnerability (:D) are pretty strong. Its one of the best damage boosts, especially for me since I like to daze with everything I got ^^ Its a personal opinion Also yes – the crippling trait is pretty good. Especially if i would go 30 duelling + clones on dodge. However – not enough mineralz! … i mean trait points ö.ö
- dueling
- We have alot nice traits here. For Adept it’d be Sword, BlinkRange, PhantFury and probably AutoDecoy
- For Master there’re CloneDodge and MantraCD
- GM provides either an additional slot for an adept or master trait, but also opens up empowering mantras. It’s a bad trait since it doesn’t work on illusion damage. That’s another reason why it’s not mandatory in the build.
In your build :P I think the 16% more damage are pretty noticable, since sword deals pretty ok direct damage. Well gonna take a look at what makes more sense for mantras. However my “problem” is what to take if i dont use mantras. autodecoy sounds fun, any expieriences?? (i hate clone dodge, see at top of this post)
Personally, I’d let you test
15/20/5/30/0
To be honest I would simply shift the 5 chaos to dom for cribble :P
Hints:
- Slot Mantra of Pain for (aoe) healing purposes
What? ö.ö
AND THX EVERYBODY FOR THE GREAT INPUTS!!

every sigil has an intern CD – the one of battle is 10 sec. If you use it every other sigill will be blocked for 10 sec. If you now use a sigill that does bleeding on crit, you crit, internal CD 3 sec, switch weapons, battle sigil blocked → no might.
Just stay near the TC and you can reflect everything. Every projectil is homing at you*, so this means if they even shoot from a higher place or the projectile flies up and then down to you, just right before you it will be reflectable. The reflection works about the height of a small human, biggest asura. However if placed right it still works. I think it should become (visual too) like a guard reflection wall, when traited.
TC swiftness does stack, but just if its the first that was applied. For example: 10 sec TC swiftness, then get another swiftness buff for 5 sec = 15 sec. If you gain the other one first 5 sec, run trough TC = still just 5 sec. This is very annoying it should just be stackable with everything but itself. Or just refresh the duration if you passed trough multiple times.
