We’ve identified the problem with retaliation and are getting a fix in so that it will function as intended on all the maps. When it is fixed it will be mentioned in the release notes for that build.
Why has it taken such a long time for this to be looked at or fixed?
Doesn’t this just give those who already feel WvW’ers are 2nd class compared to all others in GW2 more ammunition?
It hasn’t really been that long… The fact that they are willing to acknowledge it and try to fix it should be good enough for everyone. Retaliation isn’t even that bad.

I have yet to find a single day where I couldn’t complete my daily by only doing WvW.
Tbf I dont think running around gathering plants is “wvw” just cause it happens to be available on the map. There are other things as well which arent specific to wvw that you had to do to finish the daily.
I have a full set of ascended gear for my warrior and have had this for over a month now so frankly I dont care about any of this. But I do wvw every day for 3+ hours a day, and according to my monthly I have only completed 4 dailies this month, and at least 2 of them were in spvp. So no, you dont get the daily by doing just wvw, you get the daily by going out of your way to do some tedious task which serves no purpose and is not fun. But hey, its my choice to not do them, which is why I am not complaining because I obtained what I wanted anyways, just pointing out the difference though.

I think your server can live without you for all of the 2 minutes combined it takes to finish a daily.
We included the laurel cost to prevent the economy from suddenly being blown out and to not invalidate the ways PvE players can get ascended items already. This system means that it is faster to get them in WvW, especially for players who already have badges, without being so much faster that everyone only gets them in this manner. As for the difficulty of acquiring laurels in WvW, we have taken steps to address that, including the fact that there will always be 3 daily achievements that are WvW specific. Speaking personally, I’ve been able to achieve my dailies in WvW even without that change, but this should make it even easier.
You could’ve reduced the laurel cost by another 5-10 laurels and increase the badge cost by about 750 badges. Good luck to the PvE players trying to get ascended gear by using the ‘easy way,’ because they’d have to commit to WvW for a good duration to get that amount of badges. Us, on the other hand, are still stuck with many thousands of badges, always hoping they’ll actually be useful to buy valuable stuff.
Edit: You might as well have removed the badge cost completely, because by the time we’ve collected 20+ laurels we’ll have gotten a LOT more badges, as such only increasing the amount of this still fairly pointless currency in our bank.
By making ascended cost 750 badges you are kittening over people in lower tiers. I use all of my badges on siege so that I don’t need to be dirt poor. People in the highest tiers have thousands of badges because they can get it easily. The zergs up there are constant and have many more people that our zergs.
So uh FC/ET, how’d you like us pvdooring everything in EB tonight? And to FC, got to step up your golem rushes lol, sure you got to SM inner but we pushed you all the way back to your keep and then proceeded to take it with some good ole fashion PVD <3
Good thing you had at least 3 times more people than us and we couldn’t use siege. On any other day your entire zerg would have been wasted.

I don’t understand why WvW players don’t have laurels. WvW is pretty much all I do and I had all my ascended gear except for one accessory which I just bought today from the WvW laurel vendor. The daily laurel quest has always been easy and is even more easy now. If you have made the choice in the past not to gear up by doing this ridiculously easy quest everyday during the course of playing WvW then you need to live with that choice now and stop complaining. You messed up by not taking advantage of the opportunities available, shut up and live with the consequences.

The problem isn’t even a problem. What do ascended pieces give you that you need? Marginal stat increases that only matter in small group combat if you are equally skilled. If not the difference between exotic and ascended doesn’t matter. Pve players who do fractals NEED ascended piece or they can not progress through the ranks. The fact that I am not fully geared in wvw does not prevent me from doing anything at all.
So no, don’t be apathetic. Be a reasonable person and realize that this game doesn’t revolve around you. They made the daily even easier to complete than it already was. They allow people guild missions. You have other opportunities to get these things if your lack of ascended gear is really this horrible. Suck it up and get it done.
I also love that they couldn’t just give us wvw chests for the levels we’ve already earned. They have to ration them out as we continue to play.
That is to stop the market from getting flooded from the THOUSANDS of ectos all of those rares would provide. You would devalue almost everything in GW2 if everyone got their chests right now.

Normally I dont WVW, but I joined in to get 100% Map. And all I can say is kitten glad I was with HOD. Joined AtomicJelly (fellow PHAZE) and whipped up some FC and ET….Must say I have been in WVW every day since then….

I know it might not be the appropriate place to ask for this but I already filled a support ticket and I am scared they refuse to help me.
Here is what’s going on:
I just wasted twenty five days of gameplay (25 laurels) for buying a WvW ascended ring that I already have.
I wanted to buy Lost Seal of Usoku and bought a second Royal Signet of Doric. Here is the tooltip in order, Unique being the 4th thing (and probably most important) of the list:
Ascended
Ring
Required Level: 80
Unique
Exotic Invader rings can be bought and worn in pair. I got confused by this.
Please help me so I don’t have to do another 25 days of dailies for that mistake!
BTW: Would be a good idea to highlight Unique or make it so its easier to see before buying the item (some sort of warning saying you already own that item) or something like that.

There is a confirmation to but anything that is exotic or ascended AND as you scroll over it you get the comparison to your current gear.
Here’s the thing. Why make 94% of the map Tyria. Then the other 6% for WvW?
Sure WvW is considered the map. But why make a majority of the Poi’s and vista’s in area’s you can’t go into?
I’m not going to pay 1800 gems to be stuck in a different server for 1 poi that I can’t get because my server doesn’t WvW ever.
Also, the people who play are completely unreasonable. I simply sit behind and tell them, I’m just waiting for the gate to come down so I can take the last poi I need in greenlake. They don’t listen. Their so worried about their achievement crap that they just see me as a free kill and are not willing to help me out one bit.
Example: I’ve wasted 3 hours. Telling my group we should take over greenlake. Nobody comes. I tell the other team that is taking it over, I just want the poi. They don’t listen. Kill me on sight.
The whole fact that your FORCED into doing WvW for a thing you’ve done in PvE for up to 94%, is just stupid.
I HATE PvP related things. I came from Guild Wars 1, I only ever did PvE. I’ve done small amounts of PvP. I don’t care for it. Why am I being punished into having to do this PvP WvW crap for a goal I had been working on in PvE.
Fix this. Give us PvE’ers something to bypass the selfish WvW’ers who won’t let us do a dang thing, because I’m tired of wasting hour after hour on something so broken.

We don’t care about the score, because Anet has a horrible reward system that offers the same thing for finishing 1st in tier 1 as you get for finishing 3rd in tier8.

The only rewards are during the match from getting points. You get things like increased gold per kill and what not. There is no other reward but pride for winning.

I am saying that if you came to T8 to look for the best teams in WvW, you did it wrong.
You’re kidding yourself if you think there’s any difference in talent between the tiers. The players here in tier8, are just as good as any other tier. The difference between tiers is the number of players and coverage. We’ve played in each tier, and at no point have we found any difference in the level of talent. The only thing that’s been higher, is the amount of skill lag, and we’ll pass on that.
Given that you’ve probably never left ET, you likely have no room to even comment on this.
If he had never left ET he could have been there since they were in T1. He would know the difference in skill level if there was one.
If people are going to complain that they don’t get chests from ranks they earned before hand I have a complaint. I wvw in T8 and I can’t follow a zerg that gets me 100 badges an hour and I don’t gain multiple wvw levels a day. T8 should get buffed exp and drop rates because of our smaller population.
Kill 30 ambient creatures -> PvE
Collect 20 resources -> PvE
Underwater kills -> good luck finding someone underwater to kill
Cure X conditions -> probably something you’ll get without trying for it
Do X interrupts -> depends on your build
Res X allies -> probably something you’ll get without trying for it
Get 50 kills -> probably something you’ll get without trying for it
Kill 13 types of creatures -> PvE
…and so on
Ambient creatures can be done just outside the southeastern border spawn in about 15 seconds.
Collecting 20 resources will take about 45 seconds total to collect them all. This includes the time it takes to walk out of your way to hit a node. You can even use the cheapest tools to gather resources. They can all be ruined and it counts.
Killing 13 types of creatures will take at most 15 seconds per type, which you can do alongside the zerg.
Underwater killers is not hard at all. Go capture a quaggan node or two and you will have it.
Most of the dailys can be done within a minute or two. If your time is so precious that you can’t do any of these tasks to get the best gear in the game you need to rethink your attitude at playing games. You are the type of person who will only be pleased when ANet spoon feeds you the content because gosh darn it, if it is not your way it is not the right way.

I’d just like to give a shout out to the HoD that were on late last night fighting the good fight in EB.
Some great fights happened especially at Jerrifers as the Ferg Zerg failed numerous times to take back our tower with lesser numbers of HoD defending it and little to no siege. That was with ET in Golanta a few times (who passed up FC owned Klovan…really??) to attack us on the backside for a while until we ran off both servers and proceeded to take back our towers and keep. It’s was fantastic teamwork and I was really proud of those HoD who stuck with us ( us as in my guild, because you guys just rule) and helped us pull it off.
I don’t give into conspiracy theories on servers making alliances to double team, but it was so obvious at times last night from viewing the map or watching ET and FC not fight when right in front of each other, that our TS kept erupting into incredulous wtfs.
Regardless, red people from either side are just walking loot bags and I never discriminate. I would ask that more of you start carrying bacon in your loot bags, killing is hard work and I need to be rewarded.
I will carry cookies for you to eat. If a thief attempts to kill me I will crush the cookies before I die so you get nothing but crumbs. Bacon will be saved for the ET guys when I walk past them sieging your towers. Everyone deserves to eat and I think people sieging need the bacon more than you.
But seriously, there is no double teaming. It probably has much more to do with the fact that you are worth more points from glicko than we are. We also have a bigger player base than you right now and if ET hits us in EB we will crush them :p
At least two of our commanders were approached by FC to form an alliance to double team ET while they were at their lowest, which we promptly refused in the name of fairplay. Obviously there are some shady deals going on in this tier is all I’m saying. Getting double teamed is no fun. Some are still fighting but many are just boycotting till this blows over and the fights (in all borderlands) are balanced again.
You are getting “double teamed” because you are easy points. FC and ET are still at each others throats all the time. You just can’t see it from your side.

Plenty of people have fun doing skilless activities. Watching tv doesn’t take any skill but is fun. Arguing about skill has nothing to do with arguing about fun.

Sorry but there is no rush from taking a tower. There is probably 1/8th the brain power used that it takes to win a fight against as good or better players. I’m not here to waste my time or my guilds time on 1/8 brain power activities.
8 year olds can log on throw seige down and spam 2 buttons. We’ve moved past that rung on the mmo ladder.
The rush from beating back a large/good group is what you find fun, yeah? You guys enjoy using skills to take down enemies using their skills/numbers against you. I don’t know how you think correct siege placement, which can make or break a fight doesn’t take skill, or how our use of 20 person groups with correct use of combo fields, res mechanics, and siege to take on groups of similar size does not take skill. Using one group to lure the enemies to one tower while a smaller group ninjas the other takes skills. They are very different skills, and your may take a bit faster reaction time, but that does not give one greater value over the other.
I think the problem a lot of people have with your group rather than others it the value judgement you make on our fun, but we can not calls yours less. You insult us by saying it takes less brain power or w/e to fight. Follow along with the other roamer guilds who call out good fights and don’t try to push others down. We don’t care about the elitest attitude, we are about having fun. Find a different tier if you don’t like it, find a different game. This isn’t DaOC. Get that kitten out of here and lets have fun.
If we are fighting ET, who is defending durios, while we hold umberglade, we can sure as hell have enough supply. If we are attacking durios we also probably have some supply in our keep(It almost always has 1000), so yeah, the attackers will be able to have constant supply for siege.
So I just thought of 1 situation that happens all the time where we fit your definition of a battle and mine. Would that be fun to you?

I feel need to post this, as I am starting to see a fair few of questionable commanders roaming around (there are still some good ones – those that see me work with you, you know who you are.)
please make commander earn their badge with something like:
- 25k Kills in WvW.
- 500+ gold spend on upgrades.
- 2500 successful fort defences.
- 2500 successful fort invasions.
please, no more inexperienced commanders, seeing a map filled with blue airheads march their lemmings to slaughter is not a fun experience.
You do know that people who play often in T8 do not have 25k kills, right? I have 9k I think and i play quite a bit. 500+ gold on upgrades i quite a bit. That many fort defenses and invasion are also very high.
Do you play T1? It is a very different world down a few tiers where wiping a zerg doesn’t get you 40 kills.
Its ok osif let the zerglings keep their leet mortar skills and the fact that the only reason they don’t bother with you is because you don’t give ppt.
Anet designed the game for all kinds of different people and we can all have fun at the same time.
