Maybe give the option to just turn off all of the flashyness? Put in an option for that and I think it would solve your issue. Not an option to turn down all graphics, just those for AOE and what not.
I hate to grind for gear and i love this idea of being able to just jump in and start playing.
BUT i find it hardly any fun to play this game cause of the following reasons:
1. the game has more pets/minions/illusions etc. than players.
2. roll a 5man team of asuras and name them alike. You cant tell the class by looking at one of them.
3. handful of builds that kill you in 2 seconds no matter what you are playing.
4. the fact that your camera is trying to peak into your @%# 50% of the time,
cause of the small areas you are forced to fight in.
5. the list would be endless but i think there is enough already to make my point.
Now picture a typical fight scene, say 3v3 on a point where 2 are mesmers with those lovely illusions
and phantasms and a thief with thiefs guild + ambush and lets also throw in some random rockdogs.
There you are standing trying to keep the camera well positioned and keep
a track what class stands and where and what is the real mesmer while trying to do something
constructive yourself too.
Your whole screen is full of rainbow colors flying everywhere and then it happens, the thief jumps on you
with haste and all other possible cd’s he got and your dead 1sek later.
I believe that there is that 3% of the community who can actually see that little asura emotion
where he loads that haste or bullscharge and knows its coming to him.
But that really doesnt comfort me that much.
So my opinion is that the PVP at its current state is really far from “FUN”.
I agree with you partially. I can tell the difference between the players for the most part, but I smash the tab key before any fight. That might be why. I may lose track of a character with all the illusions and what not running about, but I always know what I am up against.
Does anyone have a good match-up right now? My match-up is failing and anyone who looked at this forum could see the other complaints. I want to know from the guys whop are not having issues. Does anyone have a really competitive match going?

It was, I was teasing, but when a necro is almost dead and pops whatever that form is called, if he’s near his keep, he’ll probably get away. Which is fine, I love my necro for that, and for being able to get into keeps under attack, but my engi is just too much fun right now.

That’s the one! I read up on various necro issues in pvp, but I haven’t played mine in WvW enough to really know.

Good riddance, we don’t really want you on Ferg anyway. That attitude isn’t going to help us win. Get in there with your guild and help lead our disorganized mob around. Why would you leave seeking an actual challenge? Have you seen our stats?! We need help and it is challenging. Loser attitude. Do not want.
I reread this and realized it was riddled with spelling mistakes, had to edit out a few.
That is strange. I’m an FC guy and when we moved up i would get the same thing, a small queue and out manned. When we moved down to the bottom, again, we would have a huge zerg compared to Borlis, Kaineng, or Devonas. Strange stuff.
I love WvW. I hate my server. I am on Ferguson, the only server we can beat is Kaineng. In all honesty, we destroy them. They have no presence. If i could make a suggestion, start a poll. Allow both of our servers to vote to combine. Then we might have a chance to WvW. The other servers outnumber us at any given moment. I tried pvping for about an hour and a half a little while ago. We couldn’t outnumber the enemy outside of our spawn (fergusson’s borderland). That is a bit messed up.
Devona’s Rest is no Kaineng, I’ll say that. We own even Kaineng in a normal matchmaking setup (until midnight at least). But really there are only 2 servers that we’re better than, Kaineng and Ferguson’s Crossing (together we’re the bottom 3 ranked WvW servers).
The problem is that the matchmaking recently started breaking us up instead of rematching us day after day. And now that the 1 week matches have started, we get kitten like this….
I really don’t think your matchmaking system is ready for weeklong battles, ArenaNet. This is the first day of WvW and it’s incredibly unlikely that anything will change over the next 144 hours. For one, DR has never been an offpeak server, that’s why we’re down at the bottom! So this point in time is actually when we’re STRONGEST. We had a good chunk of the map right when the battle started, hence the 20k points. But we don’t hold anything after midnight. So… what exactly are we supposed to be doing?
You don’t get kitten for a reward when you can’t cap anything, unbalanced maps just means you’re basically AFKing at your spawn.

I liked the Fer, Kaineng, Devonas battles. If i had it my way they would combine these low pop servers and be done with it. We can’t battle against the other servers. The stats pretty much prove it.

The necro isn’t as bad as it is made out to be. I love the concept of the necro(I’m level 80 on mine), but right now it is broken. So many of it’s skills are bugged that i makes the most viable builds less effective. Whoever says that they always do well with the necro is lying. I do alright with my necro, and to be honest I finish near the top often. That doesn’t mean I am doing well though. A lot of the player don’t know how to play their classes. Killing guardians and thieves is pretty tough. The other classes can be brought down more easily.
You have to pick and choose your battles with the necro, especially for pvp. We don’t have the power or conditions of other classes. Our minions suck and can’t tank for us(except the flesh golem who hits anything that moves). We need some love.
Everyone needs to be honest with their experiences. Every one of you who lies to stroke their kitten, “I crush everyone, L2P nub,” needs to shut up and learn that they aren’t the best in the world. They are liars.
Zerg, huh? My guild and I on blackgate captured and held forts against the zerg from Sea of Sorrows. We pushed them back to their borderlands and held them there. They only started to capture things when they stopped zerging and started attacking with strategy and improved their communication. Zergs in WvW are easily countered by team play so I don’t think there needs to be a fix to anything besides maybe buffing defense bonuses.
But it is not fighting the enemy zerg that is the issue, it is that your zerg never stops to defend anything. If the enemy zerg attacks your keep they just run somewhere for easy exp where they won’t have a chance of being killed.
Why should it require friends? Nothing else required friends. Not a darn thing. It is also your PERSONAL story. It is not my friend’s story, it is mine. I was informed that I could complete this entire game by not joining with friends for the entire story line. I can’t do so. They lied. If I had been told up front that the final story mission would need friends I wouldn’t be as upset. That being said, I would still bekitten off that I require others. I don’t know about you, but needing to work around others and the bugs just to unlock my story mission is bad enough. Needing them to then do it is just silliness.
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? This isn’t just a story, it is a personal story. MY PERSONAL STORY! I don’t want to have to rely on others to do MY STORY. Make it so I don’t have to unlock MY STORY with others. Make it so I don’t have to do it with others. Terrible design decision. Otherwise, love the game. Dumb final mission implementation.
