If Necro is allowed to have that much DPS and utility which causes them to punish extremely hard, they should be just as easy to punish. The first step is to make it so that Necros shouldn’t be able to fear you off when they are stunned during DS. Being able to plague form while stunned or knocked down is also extremely unreasonable for how hard Necros punish. Sure you can say just move away from Necros when they plague form or DS fear is only single target, but this class is way too forgiving for its aggressive factor (Being able to condition DPS while chaining CC).
I would say Necros would be balanced if they fixed at least one of the two underhanded that I’ve mentioned.
So our elite skill should not be able act as a stun break even though it gives us stability and is half the point of the skill? We are able to move 1 person away from us while stunned? These are only the first steps you have in mind? What’s next I wonder, giving them paper bags as armor? Seriously, necros don’t need to be nerfed in the survivability department.

Necros are an extremely powerful class when played correctly but they suffer from extremely hard counters do to their lack of stability, vigor, protection(6 seconds every 48-60s doesn’t really count imo), blocks, invulns, etc. Necros are really nice in zergs where they can not be the focus of a group, but in small group combat your group really has to baby you. The necro that everyone is complaining about right now is about as glassy as you can be.
Once ANet does some of the changes you can see on the necro forums I think you will find we are much better balanced. We wouldn’t have the burst that we have right now(from things like dhuumfire) but we would gain a bit more survivability so that we don’t be nuked immediately. Remember, ANet said that they wanted necros to be an attrition class, not a burst class. Complain about necros like most necro fans are. We are not what out class is supposed to be so I don’t think we can be fairly judged as anything more than just wrong right now.
Again, necros can be wonderful when you play them correctly but if you think about it necros are very easy to counter in small groups.
This is one of the first posts where I don’t see anyone really giving the OP a hard time. Are we actually growing a nice community?!

Thieves and full condi cleansing builds, and the CC locking warriors are going to be the hardest things for you to beat. If you can I would just run form thieves until you really start to learn the timing against other classes. They are a pain in the kitten for everyone to beat, not just you. Everyone who says thieves are easy mode are facing terrible thieves anyway. You’ll get the hang of it.
Remember that when you press a key to use the skill if you press it again it works. You don’t need to left click for a mark to place. Point you mouse at the place on the screen and click some more. Works with all ground targeted skills. Helps me react a bit more quickly so it might help you too.
First, I’m out of town and won’t be able to play at all in this matchup until Monday or Tuesday.
In my experience, average player skill level is somewhat higher in lower-ranked servers. This is not to say that players are better: simply that they’re devoting their time and effort to a different aspect of gameplay: solo/skirmishing versus group-play. If FC or IOJ (or DH) were to play a tier 3 server, I believe our players would win a majority of 1v1 or 3v3 situations, but lose almost all 15v15 or 30v30’s.
The current system makes this matchup unfortunate. Either Darkhaven goes all-out in an effort to stomp IOJ and FC and gain points, or they ease off to encourage competition and lose points, thereby making a future rematch more likely. Is that what you really want?
In any event, there are many of us who welcome 1v1’s and small-group matches. Feel free to PM or /w me or my [PD] mates or a number of others if you think all DH players are zerg riders.
You can ease off of us and go after IoJ! That is who is draining your points away, not FC. We will get stomped at will but IoJ is the true target. DO IT!
DH, what are you guys doing? I understand it’s fun to come out strong on a reset, but you do realize that you’re going to make both FC and IoJ just want to give up, right? I’m not to keen on an essential 1v1 with DH because you demoralized FC enough to where they don’t show up at all. You keep going at this rate, and nobody is going to be in WvW. Do you really need to capture all of EB, all of FC’s BL, and have half of our BL? If you keep it up, I think you’re going to have an entire week of absolutely nothing.
Look at Millenium. We’re projected to lose 56k at this rate. So yes, we really do need to “capture all of EB, all of FC’s BL and have half of your BL.”

To be fair the number is always higher the day after reset. You are losing all of your points to IoJ anyhow. Stomp IoJ and you won’t lose nearly as many points.
I actually wasn’t talking about you, but about said thread. In 24 hours, that thread generated more dev comments and actual balance changes than the entire Necromancer subforum has in a year. THAT is what I am disgusted by.
Please understand that my job is to make sure the feedback of the sPvP players is properly communicated back to the company (note my title). The reason why I communicated in that thread was because that is my job. We have other community coordinators that are focused on other parts of the game.
The reason why I focused my communication in that thread is because it was loaded with constructive feedback, which should always be promoted. No, it was most definitely NOT the only thread about Necromancers. Also, it was NOT the only thread that I posted in regarding the Necro changes and feedback.
Now, with that in mind; This was a change that was SPLIT between PvP and PvE. The change ONLY happened for PvPers, and it was a quick turnaround due to the fact that the tournament was starting this weekend.
This does NOT mean that we ignore the Necromancer forums. This does NOT mean we don’t make changes that benefit PvE. This does NOT mean we don’t have hotfixes specifically to help PvE players.
Appreciate your feedback, but many of the things you are claiming are simply not true.
Could you please those in charge of dealing with necromancer class balance to post more often on our forums? Mr. Sharp posted on our forums a few days ago but that feels like the first time ANet has talked to us in months. I think it would go a long way to helping necromancer players feel a lot better if we had some feedback on our own forums. We appreciate your feedback here but we would like influence in all 3 communities, pve, wvw, and pvp to make class choices.

Sylvari or norn. The sylvari can give you the immob from grasping vines which can be devastating if you land it at the right time. Norn can give you that leopard elite that will let you run away like a champ. Asura is alright just for pain inverter. It is a nice source of confusion for some epidemic action.

Do you know what Death Shroud is and how it’s best used?
Dark path(DS 2) is used to catch up to people and chill them. This skills is used for closing to people. I only ever use it for people running from me. Doom(DS 3) is a fear so that is clearly to move people away from you. Lifer Transfer (DS 4) hits everyone within 600 range but does really poor damage so I don’t bother with it. Tainted Shackles(DS 5) will imob someone in 600 range. It is not used because we want to stand next to you. We use it because then we can easily transfer all of those lovely conditions or load someone with everything. Last but certainly not least is Life Blast which is best within 600 range but does very poor damage for condition users. This damage does not scale well with the 30/30/10 build that everyone is bithing about.
I am very familiar with every single DS ability and I know how they are used, when, and with what specs they work best with. I also know that having someone right next to you in DS is a great way for them to eat through all of your life force. This is a pretty large problem with 30/30/10 as it has terrible life force generation. We also can’t build conditions which are the focus of that spec.
Now if we are on a power spec I love being close to you and I don’t mind you eating away my life force because I can gain it back rather quickly.

Removing dhuumfire would never stop all of the QQ. People have finally learned that conditions are actually decent. They now have something new to complain about that they will NEVER stop complaining about. I love all of the new necro love though :p

People complain about CC heavy warriors? I didn’t realize they were a problem. Sure they suck if they land a good hit on my necro but I can’t imagine that all the stability and blocks everyone else has would prove ineffective against them.
Again, if Necros were mid range on Scepter and Staff they would be more predictable and subject to the same AoE they are spreading if another Necro’s on the team. They would balance each other out because with 1200 range both necros can be way apart and not be affected by their burst.
Also Mesmers would be all over them, as would Longbow Warrior, Clusterbomb, Nade / Power Rifle Engis, and S/D Eles. They would have to use DS to try to close the gap, which favors kiting.
I still think damage can be reduced, but having to be closer will make it more challenging for Necros to do what they do. Attrition from range is OP. Attrition from midrange can be countered.
Yeah but you force one of the squishiest classes once CCed into CC range constantly. Take any CC heavy class against a necro running the standard 30/30/10 build and the fight is a joke. 2v1 and you can never lose against a necro. The only defense that necro has it is cripple/chill you and run. If we did this terribly stupid nerf you would make necros an even easier kill then they already are.
You make the class USELESS in pve as well. I know most of the people here don’t care about pve and I hardly ever do it myself, but I have played necro in pve plenty of times. Has anyone else played a class with no real way to dodge 20k shots constantly? No? Okay now imagine needing to stand right next to that mob to do damage and not being able to dodge or use any skills to mitigate damage more than one a minute. Oh shoot, we now have a useless class.
Please think before you talk about the silliest nerf in the world. IDK how you can possibly think 600 range is okay for a ranged class with limited survivability outside a skill that needs to be traited for a 48s cooldown and 6s protection.

That video shows what happens to morons. 1 necro just jumped around and did nothing. The one thief carried no break stun and got feared off the edge. Another died to the glass. The guardian was loaded with conditions without looking. This wasn’t a regular 1v4. It was a 1vinfants. GG

I’ve said it before, and I will repeat it here. We are aware of the problems with the WvW achievements and will be doing more to address them in the near future. Currently it is more complicated to solve the problems than I would like, which means we need to have a fully comprehensive solution before doing anything.
My simple question / remark in regards to this is the following.
If ANet was aware of problems surrounding WvW achievements why did they persist to create new WvW achievements in the latest update, i.e World vs Kite.
I have tried several times to get this achievement for my account however when you go through 5-10mins of a jumping puzzle only to reach a point when you are unable to progress because of griefers that is where I draw the line.
Personally I think ANet should give everyone who steps into the Eternal Battle Grounds the World vs Kite achievement because their implementing it has simply been nothing but a dev sponsored culling pit.
You are complaining about something totally different. Your comment is on something that devon has already mentioned. If you are not good at pvp and can not get the friends to go get jumping puzzle things you do not deserve that achievement. The thread is talking about how certain wvw achievements would literally take years to complete working at them as a 9-5 job.

If that happens, it will be at least in part because SF would rather attack us in our borderlands than DR, which not only doesn’t deny DR any points bukittens the ET people up taking stuff back from SF instead of attacking DR on the Eternal Battlegrounds or their own map. That seems to be exactly why FC and ET do so badly when they are in the same match-up and why this match-up is going badly for both ET and SF. The way to get more points is for the other two servers to attack the server with the most points, not the weakest server. In fact, that’s exactly how DR won last week.

Your zerg isn’t really hard to watch. I wasn’t there so I can not tell you exactly what was up but you usually hit the easy targets. When the paper gates are gone you hit keeps. After that you go for towers. If you were following that same plan, the plan you ALWAYS follow, I understand how they could track you.

You can’t go wrong with ET or FC. 20 people could help out a ton in either case. I’m not sure about ET but I think they have a community mumble and FC has a TS. We don’t queue anything more than maybe 3 times a week.
If you are looking for an underdog server those would be what you’re looking for.

If you TRULY AND HONESTLY BELIEVE that GoM is ONLY focusing FC….please rethink your life. 2) People, it’s a fact of life that zergs exist. For people to whine and moan about how another server has a zerg simply makes them hypocrites. EVERY SERVER HAS ZERGS.
