Longbow is my favorite Warrior weapon and probably the best PvP weapon that Warrior currently has.
Both the Rifle and the Longbow are pure direct damage weapons, Conditions are just an added bonus.
It’s one big nerf sandwich and we all gotta take a bite. And that’s a kitten good change too, I salute it.
Am I mad? I’ve not been playing on my Thief for a while, but today I discovered that Black Powder actually shoots a bullet at the enemy, blinding them as well as creating a smoke field at your location. Was it always like that? I thought it just made the cloud appear and that’s it.
I don’t know what happened to Evasion-based Bleed builds, but I think you can still run something like that. Chain DBs into dodges into stealth into more DBs, throw Caltrops around and dodge permanently.
GW2 is mostly a PvE game, anyway.
Thief was crazy OP. Thief is still OP with MH Dagger builds, but it’s a bit more manageable. Another nerf to MH Dagger is needed (reduced HS and BS damage), maybe to some evasion abilities and a buff to P/P, S/P and a few utilities is needed and then Thief will be in a good place.
I can’t believe necromancers have to teach other classes how to beat necromancers.
It’s much easier to ask for nerfs than L2P lol
What’s worse is that in less than 5 days the so called top players have mostly thrown up their hands in the air and said, “Oh well, Necro is unbeatable.” rather than finding ways to utilize the many and varied counters. Then the others are just parroting what the top tiers say and assuming that nothing can be done. Nice persistence. Good winning attitude.
Seems like there are fewer people than usual in ques now. Apparently a large part of the community just gave up and are focused on crying for nerf. Very sad. Necro is most likely going to get a nerf hammer again and it while it may be that they need to be tweaked a little bit it doesn’t appear that the players in this game will be satisfied with anything besides an over nerf. I don’t get it. It doesn’t seem anyone is even giving thought to what needs to be tweaked if anything. Sights are set on Dhuumfire for some reason and it is just objectively false to say that is the problem. /shrug
If you have to run a build to counter one class, then this class is OP.
A little part of me is envious, but a greater part is simply bewildered. Oh well.
Cool gear.
Thank you for contributing to a Wildstar’s higher up getting a better car.
you really need to recheck most of those weapon sets, the only point thats completely true is p/x, and how does sword feel slow? try a warrior or guardians auto attack and see which is faster
Warrior’s is faster after the patch.
I think Cleansing Ire’s problem isn’kittens own mechanics, but the overabundance of CC, slows and blinds that we have in the current game.
Dat Longbro.
I think it’s our best PvP weapon if you take Cleansing Ire and it’s mad fun while leveling.
S Tier:
New Necromancer. A lot of Fears, a lot of Conditions that are easy to apply and still huge defenses. Doesn’t seem to be an issue of simple adaptation. I run Signet of Stamina, Cleansing Ire, Dogged March and Hoelbrak runes, yet their condis still eat me alive.
Mesmer
A Tier:
Bunker and GS Retaliation abusing Guardians
Stealth and Evasion based Thieves
Bunker Engineers
B Tier:
Other Engineers
Other Guardians
Elementalist (close to A Tier imo)
BM Ranger
Longbow Warrior
Funny Tier:
Non-BM Ranger
Non-LB Warrior
P/P Thieves

I’m seeing a lot of people throwing things in the air about warriors. Though no one really states if they are lacking PvE or PvP strength.
Off personal experience, i still find them incredibly strong in PvE (Still running Great sword warrior, just swapped some traits due to patch and i don’t notice a huge difference other than losing some crit chance.)
I have to say, i hate PvPing as a warrior, I’ve yet to try it since the patch but I’m hearing mixed opinions about us getting Buffed or Nerfed.
Which leads me to ask the question, what is everyone’s thoughts are about how they feel about warriors at this moment in time, lets keep this to a non venting opinion (if possible) and focus more on the ups and downs of how warriors stand now.
Thank you for any input!
Oh, they’re definitely lacking in PvP. A lot of our abilities are simply not tailored for PvP at all, while being usable and useful in PvE. Things like Mace 1 chain, Banners, Rifle, for the most part. It can be remedied with a proper build, at least to some degree.
Warrior is a great PvE class.
Going back to PvP, I really think that Longbow is our only weapon set that can actually be utilized effectively. You get AoE, inherent survivability of a ranged class, Blind resistance, you counter Protection a bit better and you also provide Might stacks to people. Going into melee right now, even in a 5v5 situation, results in getting Blind-spammed and receiving a metric ton of conditions and AoE chip damage that we just can’t mitigate properly. Therefore, it’s best to stay at the back and close in for the kill with melee weapons only when necessary. It’s actually a pretty fun playstyle, having to constantly manage your distance and dart in and out of combat, but that might not be what some people imagined when rolling a Warrior. Plus, a lot of weapon combinations just don’t cut it anymore, I’m not sure if they ever did, but stronger Blind surely made a lot of people come to this conclusion.
You guys actually want a sure-fire skill that removes 3 conditions every 7-10 seconds? Get real.
no love for my pic guys or is the warrior commun that boring?.
It’s overused.
Hammer: Allow partial movement during Staggering Blow, similar to what you did with Whirling Wrath. It’s just… annoying and doesn’t belong in the movement heavy PvP. If it was meant purely as juggling move to combo with Backbreaker/ES… well, it works like that, but it’s not a good system. You use it in the end and the enemy is now out of melee range… It should be useful as a peeler, rez interrupt etc. but right now it’s too slow and awkward.
Rifle: It’s a bit slow and weak, but the kit is pretty straightforward and has potential. I suggest you increase the 1 skill damage a bit and allow us to finish the Killshot animation earlier, dealing reduced damage.
Sword: Love the new version.
Greatsword: Change the Bladetrail animation. Okay, I’m serious. Make it send an aerial shockwave or something. Change the Burst skill. It’s useful while leveling, but we have the easiest access to Fury imaginable even without this thing. Everybody slots SoR anyway. I understand you can’t give this weapon a hard CC or a big one-hit attack. Maybe mild damage + 5/10/15 Vulnerability stacks? A pull type move?
Mace: Take the blow out of Counterblow. It’s so weak. Make it a minor stun or something, it’s pretty difficult to use the thing, no harm at all at buffing it and making it a rewarding skill to use. Make the last hit of the Mace chain a ground smash AoE, that hits everybody in the vicinity, similar to the hammer. Reduce the Weakness duration to compensate. You can’t hit with it in PvP right now, at all.
Axe: Cyclone Axe is weak. Just add more power to it. Otherwise it’s alright.
Longbow: You’ve been buffing this thing almost every patch and with the introduction of Cleansing Ire, this is now our best PvP weapon. It’s also kitten nice in PvE. Good AoE, pretty good burst, provides our only Combo Field too.
OH Axe: I hate it. Moar fury! Well, okay. Make Dual Strike hit for something, please. It’s weak. Cyclone Axe deserves a buff in PvE too, or maybe make a clever change, so it activated Whirl Finisher several times during it’s duration. That would make it unique and work well with certain combinations of skills.
OH Mace: Low damage, 15s cooldown, long cast time. 4 Vuln stacks. Crushing Blow. Crushing is right… Just buff it somehow. Tremor is great.
OH Sword: Really difficult to land any of its abilities. Even the Sword throw is slow and misses because of a pebble on the ground. Everything needs to be sped up drastically. The Impale’s sword pull is incredibly slow too. This is my most hated weapon in the entire game.
Shield: It’s alright.
Healing Signet: Buff the passive heal. Make the active effect to double the passive healing for 10 seconds. I have no problems with other heals.
Kick: For the love of all that is holy, make it a short knockdown, not a knockback. It’s just annoying if you’re melee and ranged doesn’t benefit from it too much, since the knockback distance is low and you need to be close to use it, so it’s not even a good interrupt. It is a good interrupt for melee builds, though. So, please, just do it.
Dolyak Signet: Buff the passive a bit, please. It’s nearly useless right now. It’s a no-brainer, you will always use it to escape a CC effect, 180 of whatever Tuf is gives is meaningless.
Berserker Stance: I like the idea, but the nature of the game is such that condition-heavy builds just spam conditions. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not terrible, but it’s not all that good either. So, a little suggestion:
Make Sure-footed decrease Stance cooldown as well. Right now it gives, what, 1 extra second on most stances? 2 on Balanced? It’s hardly worth taking. But a reduced cooldown will help Warriors with dealing with CC a bit better and have Zerk Stance ready a bit more often to counter condi spam.
Rampage: It’s a CC ability. But it’s so bloody bad. You need to hit stuff to CC it, but you can’t, because most people are ranged, invisible or you’re blind. CCs are also short and knock back a lot, so it’s hard to use it to set up a burst of some sort. The damage is almost non-existent. You lose your utilities, so it’s no CC, no healing… Sadly, I think it need to be completely reworked. I nominate it for the worst Elite in the game.
Battle Standart: I don’t like it. It’s FGJ with a rez. Rez is good, of course, but does it warrant bringing this thing into battle, when you can rez as it is? Maybe. But not most of the time, that’s for sure. And then there’s the cooldown, which is very long. It’s also not affected by Banner passives, to my understanding? Why? Make it so.
If it wasn’t for necro buffs warrior would be in great shape this patch.
I have to disagree. The biggest part of our kit is really weak and we only happen to do fine with the Longbow, because it’s our only AoE ranged weapon. There’s a deep rooted problem with the game, it favors just spraying effects on the battlefield and not directly engaging enemies, unless if you have crazy powerful defenses, which we don’t sadly.
We’ve seen some positive changes, that’s for sure. But I think we still need a defensive buff to make our melee kits useful and not just a supplement to the Longbow.
I like the Sword quite a bit now. It might be my favorite weapon, just for the feel alone. And Savage Leap… oh god, Savage Leap. I’ve not been an avid Sword user, so I’m just discovering the tricks you can do with it and it’s incredibly fun. In combat I use purely as a finisher, though. Shield Bash into Final Thrust usually takes care of wounded enemies and if they’re still alive I can chase them down pretty effectively with it, thanks to the slows.

If I read correctly you have Sigil of Fire and Sigil of Energy in one weapon-set. One of those sigils won’t proc. because they have both an ICD in its description. Mabye I missed a secret patch. . . But in my knowledge this won’t work hand in hand.
Edit: (Source: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil)
""All sigils that have a cooldown share the same cooldown timer; while the timer is active, no other sigil with a cooldown can trigger. For example, if you are using a Sigil of Fire (flame burst on critical) and a Sigil of Battle (might stacks on swap), you will have to wait after swapping weapons (Sigil of Battle activated) before the flame burst can trigger on critical.
Sigils will enter cooldown even if you do not gain any benefit. For example, a Sigil of Purity will trigger and enter the 10s cooldown even when the wearer has no conditions.
All things equal, the mainhand cooldown sigil will trigger before the offhand cooldown sigil.""So basically when you swap to sword/shield you have to wait 9 seconds before the flame-blast can trigger. In my opinion there are better sigil options out there instead of this one.
Sigil of Energy isn’t a proc and, therefore, doesn’t follow the same rules.
The Longbow is the kitten of legends right now. It has been for some time, actually. The game revolves around people throwing random AoE crap around and then dodging and dancing, going invulnerable and invisible every 3 seconds. We can’t go invulnerable or invisible, but we can throw our own AoE crap, so that tumbling Thief or teleporting cloning Mesmer will still get their feet burned and we won’t be running around, guessing where they are, swathing at empty space, missing because of blinds and blocks.
This build also has a condition damage element, allowing to better combat bunkers and other Protection stackers, as well as the new Weakness.
Besides, this build has its hilarious moments too. I fought a Necro, who prepared to set up show with wells and marks to do his usual anti-Warrior business, but instead got Pin Down+Arcing Shot for 1/3 of his health and it all was downhill for the poor kitten from there. A lot of people actually aren’t ready to face a Warrior like that. For once, the Warrior class can actually make people play by his own rules, forcing enemies to retreat or suffer great punishment.
So yeah, try it, folks. The Longbow is quite nice.
Or you could just move. Weapon swapping interrupts abilities as it is, so no need to sheath beforehand.
I used to do that before I found defektive’s post. Sheathing is more responsive and you can sheath hammer 4, 5 abilities. You can’t interrupt those unless you dodge. Using movement becomes buggy and only works certain times. There’s a lot of lag to it. On the warrior that was practically an instant cast, I stood still for a split second allowing me to survive his little 100b lol.
I have to check that. Sounds pretty cool.
This build doesn’t have high sustain. You MUST have healing shouts if you want any kind of sustain with the Warrior.
Anyway, Hammer/Sword is my favorite build in sPvP after the patch. I mean, Warrior is pretty funny compared to PvP classes, but you can at least fight in this spec against several builds of other classes. It’s pretty good, I can’t recommend it.
That F1 skill is there for a reason…
Agreed
Threw a build in the mist together(was not trying to make a top build or anything close, just wanted to prove this concept)
Note; I have 30% condi duration from trait line.

Final Thrust hit while target was still immobilized.(and I usually killed dummy with the heaviest armor with just flurry and final thrust.)
Why would you FT on a Condi build? I think two Sword 1 swings would deal more damage. Or you’re using Rampager’s or some other hybrid setup?
It’s weird that you’re concerned with Hamstring, as you pretty much already have an on-demand Cripple with your Rifle. Swap, shoot, punt or retreat.
Condi warriors
Who?
Strongest are Mesmer, Thief and Guard. Yeah, still. Not gonna change.
Meta is still about bunkers, Mesmer portals and 1-shotting Thieves, no Warriors allowed (100b builds now suck, because Quickness was nerfed).
Necros got a lot better. They kitten everything with conditions.
Rangers… BM is still alright, but they’re the second weakest class right now, albeit there’s a huge gap between them and Warriors, who pretty much turned to total fodder.
Is this bug fix yet? I mean why does it have to wait so long? Be done with it already or I’ll just have to play on my prof that gives blind and make players get frustrated. If that’s what you want then I’ll be happy to do that until it is fix.
blind change was a bug fix
apparently, anet dont want warrioirs to have eyes
They just need to make Thief’s blind to have a 10 sec ICD and Necro’s Plague Form blind to have a 5 sec ICD. Problem solved.
This numbers are a joke i actually used a clerics amulet and test it right when the patch become online and i was like… this is BS, now add to this that we now need to use adrenaline in order to clean conditions so much for the passive…
Why do people keep saying this?
- Soldier Runes
- Melandru Runes
- Berserker’s Stance
- Dogged March
- Restorative Strength
- Warhorn
- Quick Breathing
- Shake it Off!
- Shrug it Off
- MendingTHEY STILL EXIST! USE THEM!
But Leo, I can’t go full offense and have comparable condition cleansing and sustain like the guardian can… QQ /sarcasm.
It’s like people know how they want to play and acknowledge their weaknesses but still think it’s the dev’s fault for the choices they make.
Other classes can get high defenses and full sustain while being offensive. Hell, one of the Guardian’s top DPS builds is a Meditation build, where you take Meditation healing just because why not. So what’s your point?
Or you could just move. Weapon swapping interrupts abilities as it is, so no need to sheath beforehand.
You haven’t seen Warrior’s Elites.
I think Tomes can be useful, but they’re not “combat” Elites, they’re for those guys who chill a the back, throwing stuff into the fray.
I sure agree we need a new melee/combat oriented Elite.
???
warriors have the 2nd best elites in the game, besides mesmers
What? Rampage is never used, SoR is a mild buff and Standard is a PvE only battle rez with a huge cooldown.
Adrenal health is 133 per secknd at 1000 HP, thats pretty kitten good.
Eh got 108 per second at 300 healing power on my guardian’s virtue of resolve, 128 if I take the trait to make it a condition cleanser and it heals 1850 health to boot when I activate it, along with some regen.
Anyways, the real issue is how kitten backwards adrenal healing is with burst skills and cleansing ire. It’s just bad design that 5 points above it there’s a trait that encourages adrenaline use to get rid of conditions. If there was a moderate heal for using burst skills as well I don’t think too many people would have an issue with it.
The Burst system needs more options to make it worth using on other weapons at this point as well. The adrenaline traits also should have been reworked to reward using burst skills. It just shows how haphazardly the class was designed, with traits working against each other.
Wouldn’t it be nice if it healed us when we use a Burst skill?
In all honesty, I don’t think sitting on Adrenaline should even be a thing. Yay, you don’t use your main mechanic… get rewarded for it?
Spirit Weapons can wreck people in seconds with the new +50% dmg trait.
Call Hammer and Sword, use VoJ and buff them with Staff 3. Hammer smash can crit for about 6k, sword smash for 3k, all of it while you keep slashing at them.
my main question is why would you play a condi warrior in s/t-pvp when there are 2-3 other classes that are much better at condi builds? if you enjoy it great but really condi warriors are probably at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to condition builds and when you can choose necro, engi, etc
GW2, outside of top tier play, is a lot about doing a strategy or role (in this case, conditions) using a style you enjoy (one of the eight classes). It’s not supposed to be all about min maxing, which was also one of the original goals of the game.
Do your tourny teammates also follow that way of thinking?
You haven’t seen Warrior’s Elites.
I think Tomes can be useful, but they’re not “combat” Elites, they’re for those guys who chill a the back, throwing stuff into the fray.
I sure agree we need a new melee/combat oriented Elite.
Well we got a lot of warriors who refuse to to use this, but complain about no sustain.
Going from 0 to ~1200 HP gives you an extra 70 HPS or so. At the cost of half your damage.
That’s sooo gonna make a bunker out of you.
Kick is awesome. You heard it here first, folks. Why would that kitten nudge be awesome, you must ask? Because it synergizes perfectly with Final Thrust.
The mini-stun inflicted by the Kick is just enough to start the Final Thrust, make a step forward and ram that foot of steel inside your reeling enemy. Physical Training also puts Kick on a 16 sec. cooldown, guaranteeing that you will never miss a single Final Thrust (if you can land the Kick, of course).
The recent buff to the Kick and Physical Training also make your boot hurt like the finest of blades, resulting in a nice ~10k damage burst, when utilized in combination with Final Thrust.
Sigil of Intelligence recommended. You can Kick, swap to Sword and FT without any problems or animation delays.
I’m running a Hammer+Sword/Shield combo right now, using Cleansing Ire (works great with Earthshaker, that thing will hit something when you drop it) and you can pretty much stunlock even mildly tanky enemies while still having an ace in the hole burst combo.
So go, become a pain in their nether regions in all meanings of the word!
