I knew this thread is gona make blind spam thieves mad, but well is a cheap mechanic really, its a really bad implemented core mechanic is the thief itself, they, because of that spam mechanic should have not easy acces to blinds, im tired of seing blind spam on thieves its ridiculous is cheap.
excuse me but if u see a necro’s well would u stay on top of it ?
Necro wells aren’t spammable. And yes, I would, because it covers the whole point and if I move away from it he decaps it.
Retaliation should not reflect. It is a trade-off: you allow yourself to be hit in order to punish the one who hits you. Or you ignore it and don’t get hit.
You don’t “allow” yourself to get hit. You just do.
Popping Retal is rarely a conscious choice. You just pop it because you can and have such an easy access to it. Or it’s passive/luck based with Chaos armor/Lyssa Runes/traits. And then you get hit because that’s how the game works.
Because the basic-damage of those weapons are higher + weapon-traits synergyize better with affecting 5 skillz instead of 3 or 2, which is mostly the case for one-handed weapons.
Even assuming that you are right (and I think you are not), it would be better to ballance those weapons on the damage-side, allowing the players more versatility on their builds.
What I said is fact, it’s not something we assume. Basic damage is higher (proof ingame or consult internet), Traits which boosts one-handed weapons mostly affecting 2-3 skillz (rare exceptions on dual-wield), while two-handed weapons are fully affected on all 5 skillz.
Lowering the basic-damage and add a second weapon sigil, could be fine. However, I think it is well balanced as it is right now.
Weapon damage is absolutely irrelevant, because actual damage done differs based on skill damage, which, guess what, change with a weapon. In fact, 1H weapons in this game often outdamage 2handers, because actual weapon damage means total jack when it comes to skill balancing, it’s just here to mark your progression by getting a better weapon.
The whole trait debate kind of makes sense on paper, but actually doesn’t. 1H weapon traits also affect an off-hand of the same type, which makes one trait affect all 5 skills as well. Also, many of these “2H” traits don’t really benefit many skills. For example, Greatsword Power or w/e it’s called on the Warrior, hardly helps with Rush and Bladetrail that hit once or twice, it’s all about 100b and auto-attack. Cooldown reduction portion of traits, sure.
Scorpion Wire would be reasonable if the game didn’t contain those kitten invisible sneaky boulders that cause “Obstructed” in the middle of a perfectly flat field.
To hell with RNG.
I’d love a slow hammer-like weapon that focuses on large, devastating strikes as opposed to CC. You can still move while hitting, but all strikes are telegraphed.
It might have an a-la Darius pull move for some soft CC. Maybe something like this:
1. Half-Moon/Full Moon/Eclipse – Auto-attack with high raw damage and no special effects.
2. Undertow. Use your axe blade to hook enemies in a cone in front of you and pull them to yourself. Applies 3s. of Cripple. Moderate range (400?)
3. Execute. Raise your axe and slam it into your foe with force. Long cast time, high damage.
4. Barbarian’s Fury. Sweep your axe in front of yourself, damaging all enemies in a cone in front of you. The less health you have the more damage the attack deals. Long cast time, moderate to high damage.
5. Trample. Charge your enemy, knocking them off their feet and dragging them for the full distance of the charge. Some mobility, CC and peeling ability.
Burst: Onslaught. Buff that lasts 4/6/8 seconds. All cast times and weapon ability cooldowns triggered when under the effect of the buff are reduces by 50%.
Probably OP or doesn’t make sense. Still, a 2H Axe would be something…
GM Arms Trait that reduces the damage of FT by 50%, but adds a heavy bleed/weakness/something component?
Well, most accomplished PvP teams are already well adjusted to each other and just don’t want to change classes.
Also, there’s not been much time to test the Warrior with the last changes. It will take some time for meta to shift (or not shift, which would indicate that Warriors are still on the weak side).
I haven’t seen it, but another tip is to blind skullcrack inside shadow refuge. You have a pretty good chance to hitting the thief if you are somewhat good at guessing. If it hits (adrenaline drains) you can immediatly follow up with 100b/ other weapon skills.
Not sure. You might land it, but the Thief will still be stealthed for the full duration of SR and he will also heal like crazy if he’s specced into SA, so you won’t be able to kill him in those 3+ seconds.
I find that it’s better to wiggle around and try to facetank a Backstab for reduced damage. Either that or just Leap away and keep running until the stealth comes off, sometimes it works.
There is no point. Everyone in 1v1 servers bring 1v1 builds, and it does not develop real skill. The skill in this game is teamplay.
How about fun, is it a good enough point, because currently it does not seem like it from anet side…
Fun? I heard of it before somewhere…
Yeah, it would be fun. But people don’t want it, because… I don’t know. They just don’t. They say the game isn’t built for 1v1, but even in poorly balanced games, skill usually allows to have some interesting matches. It’s effectively player-hosted PvP. I remember the good old days if IF dueling club, people would even bet money, we had the best duelists and they were known throughout the whole lands, and there were all classes in the “top pack”, despite horrible balance.
Lots of skills that hit just as hard in WvW on many classes. That’s why you shouldn’t take WvW balance seriously. Just zerg and be happy, isn’t that what you guys do there most of the time?
I often wonder if the fault is with the player and not the class, from what I’ve seen from good warriors they’ve walked around the god almighty path of sustain and managed to be quite successful with out it.
I just don’t get how so many can turn what we have into something productive whilst a bunch of us sit down and scream one word at the computer screen hoping it will fix it. “SUSSSSSSSTAAAAAAAINNNNNNNNN” They weep as they get pounded on and killed knowing little that if they had that god almighty sustain they’d just die 10 seconds later.
I’m like level 15 PvP bro. Pretty sure I know what I am talking about
Trolling? Level 15 in PvP lol. Next time you’ll tell me you’re level 30 in PvE, that would just make it impossible to argue your points!
There are no Warriors in most serious PvP teams. None. Wonder why? Warrior can’t bunker and is an average roamer, while also being the worst dueling class in the game. Can’t take the treb from that Engie/Mesmer, can’t kill that Guardian on Clocktower…
Please go back to the Necromancer forums, you obviously don’t play a warrior.
This would be the second time you claim I don’t play a warrior. And the second time you get proven wrong.
Oh and also, if it’s the combination of low heals and lack of utility on those heals to compensate, you better say that. Because that’s very different from claiming that we have the kittentiest heals.
Judging from your history so far, you have done nothing but tell people they’re ideas are overpowered, your one of the reasons this class is held back by false feedback.
That’s because most of the suggestions that people give are overpowered. And honestly, we already get enough complaints about ANet nerfing classes, the last thing we need is to give them reasons for nerfing. Because giving overpowered abilities and then nerfing them down would do just that.
And just out of curiosity, let me ask you. Just equipping Warhorn gives you 50% uptime on Vigor. Traiting for Warhorn makes it 80% uptime. What would you do to give us other sources of Vigor without enabling Warhorn users to get permanent Vigor?
Warhorn user could already get perma vigor. Warhorn traited + vigor on stance with a couple stances = perma vigor.
In the same effect a guardian spends 5 points in getting what we get spending 40 points. They don’t even have to waste there time refreshing it either it does it for them
And unlike Guardians, we have much higher crit rate so such a trait would never work with us.
Cleansing Ire works great with longbow, but otherwise I find that the very conditions it’s mean to clear, prevent you from using/landing it (blind, cripple, immob).
That is a problem with how adrenaline works, not with how the trait works.
And while some people seem to want to fix that issue by making Cleansing Ire remove 1 condition whenever you gain a bar of adrenaline, that is not only much less consistent, but also potentially broken with various trait setups or utilities:
- Berserker Stance would result in it cleansing 1 condition every 2 seconds. Coupled with its current effect, that would be crazy powerful.
- Signet of Fury would cleanse 3 conditions
- Furious and Sharpened Axes would make the cleansing speed excessive
- Inspiring Shouts would make all shouts gain the 6 rune effect of Runes of Soldier
- Healing Surge would cleanse 3 conditions, thus making Mending obsolete
And shout healing is exactly what I’m talking about. You have to spec JUST TO GET alternate sustain. It’s all or nothing. Every other class (except perhaps rangers) gets alternate forms of sustain outside of the #6 button, baseline, with 0/0/0/0/0. Check above for my list of examples.
I’m probably going to get a ton of crap for saying this, but I am pretty sure that a lot of the “sustain” of Stealth comes from going 30 into Shadow Arts. That is kinda like our Tactics line.
Guardians can easily achieve comparable or higher crit levels because of Right Handed Strength.
So then why don’t people take 2 sigils of fire or air or one of each? Wait I know because they share an ICD and when one goes off you will have to wait just as long if you want the other to go off.
Correct.
This is not the issue I am speaking of. On the occasions I do crit I’m basically rolling two 6 sided dice instead of one. 3 or higher on either grants a proc, and because they share an ICD I will only ever be rolling both at the same time.
Exactly so why not just keep one and get a constant sigil, on kill sigil, or something of that sort….
Simple. It undermines the goal of the build and lessens the odds of making the most of it’s critical hits which serve the sole purpose of removing boons. This is a point aggravator designed to counter mid or far point bunkers or roamers that rely on boons and conditions, of which there are many.
Yes but you are saying that it is essentially like rolling 2 six sided dice instead of one. It doesn’t increase your odds. With two six sided dice you have a 2/12 chance of getting x number which in the long run is the same as 1/6…. See what I am getting at here?
Wow…
Wow.
What you wouldn’t hear on the internet.
It’s a good PvP set, but lousy in PvE, for the most part.
Sword F1 is bad for damage, you need to cancel it immediately to get the Immobilize and keep swinging. Sword 1 is pretty weak, but fairly fast and applies constant pressure and annoyance with bleeds and slows.
Sword 2 is amazing for mobility, one of the best skills for traversing distance and jumping over gaps. Don’t use it to hit targets, though, because you won’t be able to. The distance traveled by the leap isn’t reduced for Chill/Cripple, so you can use it to get out of enemy AoEs.
Sword 3 is a finishing move. You have to use it with some form of CC or when the enemy wasted both dodges. It hits pretty hard when it crits with a power build, it’s close to Eviscerate’s damage.
Shield is… well, Shield. 4 is good in PvP, 5 is not that good, but can be used to avoid spikes and live for that extra second until the heal goes back up. Both abilities aren’t useful in PvE.
This would be a bigger buff to Guardians.
I think that Blind needs to have a 2-3 sec. internal cooldown on application.
By the way, try Zerker Stance. Works like a charm.
Imho, its design is flawed. It should reflect a percentage of the damage done. As it is now, it is useless toward big damaging skills and extremely harsh versus weak multi-hit attacks.
It should also be impossible to maintain perma-Retaliation, because “just don’t attack” strategy doesn’t really apply to it in its current state. You gotta kill that bunker this year.
These are pretty massive buffs.
That seems to be the nature of “ranged” skill in the game.
Browncoat for life.
For the same reason that “Fear me!” misses while blinded : ANet trollogic
Same reason why Guardian’s shield bubble misses while blinded. It’s an attack, no matter what.
It’s great that A-net is experimenting with new PvP ideas.
Bad idea imo.. you’ll have the ragers who want to give up every time they die, don’t get a rez, lose a point etc. not fun when that’s popping up constantly…. (think LOL)
Never had a surrender that wasn’t justified in LoL. All you need is two people out of five to refuse.
Deserter debuff is a bad idea. PvP population is low as it is. Glory penalty I agree with, but modern companies don’t want to upset their players in any way shape or form.
OHKOing somebody with earthshaker.
Gotta pick your fights with the skinniest of squirrels for that.
It’s very hit and miss with Thieves. I can take them sometimes on my Warrior 1v1, but it requires hitting them with Pin Down or having some CDs up. It’s also about crits and lucky dodges when they’re invisible. Can you dodge that BS enough times until they go visible?
Now, in a 2v1 or 2v2… that’s a different story, the bugger just pops up, takes another second or two to load visually and unloads a good 15k damage into my rosy bum before I can even hit Shield Block.
That’s for PvE/Dungeons?
And could you use this builder – http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
That one is weird and I don’t think it shows any U-skills? Maybe I’m just not seeing it.
My vapor x gpu at full speed sounds like a boeing 747… They run both at 2200 rpm at 100%…
Well it should never ever run at 100% speed unless you’re burning it with Furmark or something, or maybe Bitcoin mining.
2OP: Get yourself a hardware monitoring program, like HWMonitor. Launch the game and take a look at your CPU and GPU temperatures.
The PSU shouldn’t be making that much noise. I use the same PSU and it’s a quality low-middle end PSU.
I think it would be funnier if everyone rolled stun warriors.
They’d get rolled by Necros. You gotta land those stuns first, while necro is just running around, double-dodging randomly, because he doesn’t have to land anything to kill you.
Even building for full Condi removal is still not quite enough to kill a competent Necro, especially if he has full Life Force.
Rushing mid doesn’t necessarily makes sense as a Warrior. A Guardian/Engie still bunker much, much better. Two people isn’t enough to bring them down in a timely manner.
No, only thing sure footed needs is 20% reduction in stance CD
They will most likely never do a flat reduction because the higher the cooldown the greater the effect. 20% reduction would make Endure Pain and Zerker stance have a ridiculously low CD.
38 seconds of downtime isn’t all that low tbh
Beat Adnul after about 45 minutes of trying. We died at the same time, but I took the swill and the game decided to make me the winner.
That corsair guy was the easiest, but then again, what would you expect from a twig girly man.
just saw when you salvage pvp items in lionsarch it count for the salvage archievments
a way for PVPers to get some archievment pointz
do it NAOW cause arenanet will hotfix this – it isnt pve^^
Don’t think they will. They already let us keep PvP bags and dyes, so why not this.
In the bolded letters you describe all of the neat things that other classes to help their sustain but you pretend like warriors don’t have an advantage like the others do. Warriors are the only class to have maximum base HP AND base armor. Just throwing that out there. I think its really silly how often people forget that fact considering how important it is.
Have you even played PvP
Highest Armor and HP mean absolutely nothing compared to the damage negation other classes can put out.
I don’t care what kind of ridiculous hyperboles you use. The bottom line is that we DO have the highest base hp and armor and it DOES matter. People need to remember this. I’m not saying it can effectively rival sustain of other classes but I’m saying that we need to remember that it is there.
I’d rather have cloth armor and 10k hp, and buffs that makes me take 75% less damage.
High Armor doesn’t matter in this game, it makes little difference actually.
How do you expect people to take you seriously? You constantly demand balance here and there and demand anet to rain buffs on the warrior because “balance” when you don’t even understand the difference between light and heavy armor. Not only that but you seem to think there exists a buff that makes you take 75% less damage. Are you daft?
I like how you took that seriously when I was pretty much exaggerating.
The difference between light/heavy armor is about 300 toughness, a piece of soldiers gear. Not that much at all.
Please show me the piece of armor that has 300 toughness on it. Go ahead. Honestly at this point (actually a while ago) it is clear that you are a troll seeking attention so goodbye.
The 80 Exotic Chestplate alone has 363 armor (toughness.)
Toughness and Armor are the exact same stat.
The difference in armor for Light/Heavy is (49)!
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mad_King%27s_Overcoat#HeavyYou can check the statistics here.
Now please stop posting, you have no idea how the game works and your embarassing yourself.
You said 300 toughness is a soldier’s piece, not 300 armor. That’s like saying “my warrior has 3000 power” when you really mean 3000 attack.
300 toughness increases armor by 300. Same like 300 power increases attack by 300.
Except there are also base stats (916 of each for every class to be exact), which means that “3000 power = 3000 attack in the character sheet” is incorrect, but “300 toughness = 300 armor on a piece of equipment” is, in fact, a correct statement.
Marks aren’t THAT bad, they should be nerfed a bit, but Wells is a bigger problem. You stand on it – you die. Unfortunately, you gotta stand on certain spots to win the game.
Bought a gold chest yesterday, got a Celestial Dye out of it.
Why hoard it?
I guess the Stronger Bowstrings bug might be difficult to fix for some reason, but the fact that Berserker’s Power is like that… I can only assume they forgot to change it.
Thanks for bringing this up.
Yeah, it’s nice to have more people, but when I see some guy coming to “help” me cap a node when I just arrived there it… I swear, I wish we could PK in this game.
Good weather around here.
Play until r10 in Hotjoin and then get into Tournies. The skill level is noticeably higher there.
Low stealth builds are typically not that viable, because Thieves have low sustain outiside of stealth. Trying to dance around a Necro when he just puts down his well and you melt is not every effective. But then again… nothing is very effective against a Necro nowadays.
Anyway, game on.
That depends against who you are fighting, for example, I don’t think you can expect blocks from a thief…
Hm, maybe make it so that it also counts other things such as blind and evade? that would make it more universal.
Are you trolling?
Weakness working on Conditions would be interesting, but guess who has the most Weakness?
So, Weakness on Necro needs to be toned down or removed.
It might also make Weakness mandatory, which isn’t nice, but I’d rather see that than melting to mindless AoE spam. Make strong Weakness only single-target (it’s close to that now).
I think that Necro’s Wells and Marks, as well as Mesmer’s Chaos Storm are the greatest offenders right now. If those are removed/reworked, the meta will stabilize.
Sadly, the tPvP community seems intent on killing itself off. You are correct, new maps and variation on the meta dependent on maps would bring in new players, which would make the ranking system more accurate and make tPvP more fun for everyone. The few elite at the top and the people trying to emulate them can’t stand change though. If it isn’t their meta (AoE spam, whether that be direct damage or condition damage) it is all the sudden not balanced. lol
Nice try, Engineer, but Skyhammer still wasn’t fun ;p
I have zero problems with other maps, excluding Capricorn, because UW combat brings some cheesy stuff there as well, like undying Eles with their Mist Form submarine escapes.
It’s a multiplayer gear, therefore, many of its formats rely on cooperation.
Necros have poor access to boons and that’s why they have great condition abilities.
While other classes have great access to boons and others are more balanced, the strength of necros rely on only on their conditions.
Really, this qqing must stop.
A good night time laugh. Thanks.
Warriors actually have the option to become the new Necro meta’s natural enemy. Running Zerkers stance and something like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNApeRjcOtwpQyQMxBEkCsoKOKUilQ9AP2w4A-TsAg0CvICSFkLITQygsBNsYZxEBA
…means the Necro can’t do anything for the duration while you lock him down. I actually feel like I have a role when I join TPvP as opposed to a third wheel.
It’s not nearly enough to kill a Necro.
So a burst Thief didn’t have the damage to kill you, but a 800 per hit SB Thief did?
I hit 1.5-2.5K with my SB. Dont know where the 800’s are coming from.
Then your BSs must have been in 15k range. The argument still stands.
@OP A lot of your “points” are either really weak or simply misleading.
-What is the thief good for?
The Thief’s role and purpose is defined by good players playing Thief.
The fact that it is not clearly defined is what frustrates other players and rationalizes all the nerfs we’ve received.
A lot of good players playing Thief that they are so good that they can surprise you that some kitten y build actually works it’s because it compliments their play style really well.
Unlike other profession, if you choose a Guardian for example, you are expected to do a specific role because the profession is good at it — that’s very boring.
Uh-huh, yeah, no.
Thief is a mobile roamer in PvP and a combo-field spammer in PvE, plus he can cleans adds fairly effectively with Dagger Storm.
That’s all, it’s very simple and clear once you play a bit more.
Seeing many bunker Thieves in PvP?
Skyhammer wasn’t fun.
What people want is deathmatch, so people like maps that present the least obtrusive mechanics and allow players to actually fight against each other.
Stealth in GW2 is magical in nature. It comes from the illusion and deception schools of magic and that’s why other classes are unable to do it, except for mesmers which -not suprisingly- also have access to that type of magic.
Your system is good, for a low-magic setting. But since it’s not based in magic, then every class should be able to benefit from it. Your stealth mode would be applicable to every class, or is that thieves are able to crouch and hide their noses better than a warrior?
You want a realistic, tactical, stealth in a surrealistic, magical game.
Edit: And after reading your proposed skill changes, most of them make no sense at all, only sharing between them an unjustified, visceral, plain hatred to stealth.
Engineers can stealth too.
Get Zerker. Conditions only work on insane classes like Necro, who can apply a billion of them instantly every few seconds.
