You can always transmute it after. Although if you’re using it on 80 weapons… it’s just incentive to buy fine stones. It’s a money thing, however, keep in mind a fine stone is much less costly than another copy of the skin
Your complaint is well justified, but I think it’s a bit inflated. Not trying to sound patronizing. I thought the same until I realised I really like transmuting things
Thanks FluffyCake <3 A couple things to clarify. Actually, the most help I’ve gotten IS in game. It’s mainly on the forums, so as I keep saying, I want others who’ve experienced any kind of hate for asking for help on the forums – not even people with handicaps, people with low-end rigs, and people who are just genuinely lost as well – to seek out friends in game instead.
You are right in that I came in with my guard up. But I hope you understand why. In one example I gave, I referred to post I read where someone was asking for camera tips because they only had one hand, and flaming ensued basically telling them “tough luck”. Posts which challenge community trends in my experience have received even less sympathy than “lil help?” threads. This is what this thread is. It’s about a certain kind of player/forum user who is slowly dominating the game this season. A player who says “If you can’t do something, get out, or else I’m entitled to a decent explanation as to why I seem so much better than you at the game.”
I apologize, but that’s the kinda of attitude I see in these elitist posts. It’s partly my guard that makes me read into SOME comments slightly more:
Fluffycake, you asked quite fairly, although perhaps missing a sentence where I explained that the simple mention of a handicap’s presence is the catalyst: (I paraphrase) “How can someone know if you’re not willing to discuss your handicap?” Again, forgivably, your question is on the basis that people aren’t bringing it up. They are. And then they get asked for proof in the form of private details. “Discuss”, I took to mean “explain”, rather than simply “mention” like I think you meant. I apologize for misunderstanding, and know now you weren’t asking for a diagnosis. But other people are doing pretty much that before they even offer help. That’s why I came in with my guard up. Elitists think that less skilled players think that they are entitled to everything for less work. Is that not the definition of the elitist mindset? That the non-elite are vocalizing over something they don’t deserve? That they don’t deserve it because somehow a better rig, a more whole body or mind, or more time on their hands provides the elite to more privelage on the level of common decency in a season sponsored by the company that hosts their ignorance in the name of generosity and charity.
Thank you for your support of everyone whose found difficulty so far, FluffyCake, I appreciate it on behalf of those being shut down, and even those who haven’t but need help occasionally. I agree, no one should feel like they can’t ask for help because of elitist players. Again, letting people know that the forums aren’t always the best place to look was my original intent – along with encouraging people to try to ignore smartpuppy comments, because there ARE decent players.
“Can someone lend a hand?” fails just as often. The same response from the same people (I’m not denying considerate replies exist).
Extremes: “Just keep trying, you’re being lazy.” or “You shouldn’t need help, it was too easy for me. I think they should make it harder.”
Asking for help when it’s needed is not selfish. Withholding help when you have it to give when it’s needed is selfish.
I am saddened to think that these people who lack this compassion during the holidays might need to ask for help in the future, and wonder to myself how much they would flame if they were left in the dark at that time. I really hope they find the help they ask for if the day came.

Thanks for the personal jab and cruel sarcasm, Ansultares.1567.
I only asked a question. You seem to take this too personally.
Please don’t take me or anyone else for a fool… especially because it concerns, among other groups, people with handicaps. It comes across as preying on the weak. A question is a question, yes, but a question that only makes assumptions, contributes nothing, and attempts to make light of a serious community issue with a non sequitur parable is just insulting. Anyone who’s seriously curious would have read the thread and realized this thread is about a community trend, and not one single person’s issue with an element of gameplay. It has nothing to due with the game besides the suggestion to people encountering problems here to ask for help in Tyria.
The two things cannot be more different, so please don’t try to cloud the issue with “questions” which satisfy nothing but your own apathy towards it.
This is not directed solely at you, but anyone else pretending to care about the treatment of others on the forums. It’s likely that if you are trolling, you’ll come back. If that’s the case, I have no lingering interest to feed you or anyone puppies. If you misunderstood the thread, fine. It doesn’t excuse the tone… but to be honest I don’t see the point of forgiveness on the internet. For that purpose, I write “without prejudice” in hopes that you can make a difference for the better here or elsewhere. If you’re laughing, well played, you would’ve made a good grentch in GW1.
(edited by Zaith.9132)
I’ve stated I’m challenged because I have a handicap. That should have been clear. I’m not going to divulge my diagnosis. The reason this isn’t even relevant is that people are assuming that when someone says I have problems with _ because my my _______., they are something as ridiculous as physically unfit and need to “go out and exercise”, leaving the game to hardcore players exclusively. When someone asks for help because of challenges, the default shouldn’t be, “medical records or it didn’t happen”. Am I one of the few that thinks this inappropriate?
Understandable <3 I’ve actually read some of you posts (I remember because I really like penguins) and you’re a decent forum user My point being that if I seemed pissy at you, it was my fault in my wording. I’m trying not to stoop to backlashing lol.
Classy guys :/ No, I’m not the guy who doesn’t use the mouse. Thanks for the personal jab and cruel sarcasm, Ansultares.1567.
And SmoothPenguin, I took it in context and your points make sense, but they are out of sync with this thread. I said in the OP I’m enjoying the game. It’s the TREATMENT, as exemplified in the post above yours (which I realise is trolling) in the forums that I’m fighting.
Lol Of course we do. Some people want to push themselves a bit and ask for help. They might be able to do more than they think, but they’re being discouraged from even trying.
So again, anyone reading this, message a friend in game, or if you’re lucky here, bless you, but please try to ignore people saying these things with malice or without thinking <3
EDIT: I’m really liking the support so far guys Thank you!
(edited by Zaith.9132)
It’s a handicap if it limit’s your abilities… that’s the very definition. I appreciate the optimism nonetheless, lubercaleb
And thanks for the second, Morrigan That was my suggestion in my first reply <3
I’ve explained how people are being treated with examples. I don’t have to declare the nature of my handicap to my school for funding. I certainly don’t have to expose such a vulnerability to these forums.
EDIT: I don’t think it’s relevant. This kinda of treatment is not welcome by me on such a season. With all due respect, PearlGore, it’s like me asking “do you have asperger’s or are you non-functional. And are you getting pension?” Just no.
(edited by Zaith.9132)
Maybe it affects me more easily. But I’ll try.
The some Halloween events were hard, specifically the clock tower. As an example, many think the Wintersday puzzle is easier. In some of the forum threads, people have asked for help. They receive many replies in the form of personal attacks from people who think it’s too easy. I know I and others who have mentioned their challenges (most notably one forum user who has only one hand), are met with hostility. Told things like “get out if you can’t do it” “you’re kitten lazy” etc. They even make assumptions about things like physical fitness of the players posting. It’s really strikingly frequent.
The first line of my OP is sarcasm.
Sorry for the confusion, I just get depressed when I visit the forums now.
I know, right? I didn’t think this would happen here at ANet.
EDIT: Not even just those with handicaps. The personal attacks against those seeking help are just very very not seasonal.
(edited by Zaith.9132)
I don’t understand your request. It’s pretty simple. Many threads since event launch are decidedly more ugly than in-game, especially for those with challenges. I’m expressing my sympathy and encouraging those like me to seek help in-client instead.
I’m really enjoying all the Wintersday cheer revolving around flaming at those who are in need of a little help. I’m no longer welcomed on Guild Wars 2 official forums, apparently. I apologize deeply to all my fellow forum users who are trying to enjoy the game and being shut down by elitists.
Thank you ANet, I’m really enjoying what I can in-game. Also thank you players, as I can’t enjoy the in-game activities without you either! <3
Wait… so people who only PvE this time can get the title this time, either due to hardware issues or personal handicaps? Nice one.
Also… people are insensitive to the fact that somethings are not possible for some people period. Trying harder does not always cut it. The attitude by the less skilled that is “plaguing the gaming world” … the response here is the same as saying the impoverished are a plague. The same as saying “if you’re not making enough money to support your family, then work harder or walk away.” This ablist attitude needs to change. I’m not angry, because these kinds of posters are not aware (usually – unless they’ve given up hope themselves).
If the gaming community is plagued by the handicaps of others, it’s not a community I want to be a part of. Is that a community ANet is supporting? I don’t think that, but I’m curious.
I have a better idea for the reward with 2 difficulties I think is fairest. Have it reward tokens: 1 for the easy and 3 for the hard. That way no one gets left out. Hardcore players can even keep grinding once their hands are sore. Both versions should award a title.
Can’t tell if this is sarcasm.
Both posts.
(edited by Zaith.9132)
Don’t listen to the people who say they are too hard. They are just not putting in the time or effort and solely want the rewards for it so they can get their weapon/armor skins.
For me, the challenge is a big part of the reward. So in short from me, Harder Jumping Puzzle = Better Jumping Puzzle.
This made me sick when I read it. I’m over it now because obvious it’s an opinion. Firstly, I think there should be different difficulties. This is why I’m insulted though:
Me and a friend (who doesn’t play guild wars 2 after halloween) both have mental disabilities that simply don’t allow us to cope with timed puzzles. Specifically the clock tower. My wrist was recovering at the time and I ended up putting it back in a splint during the clock tower. I never made it. It’s… and I don’t mean to say this as a personal attack, because I’m more trying to raise awareness for EVERYONE who posts like this – but it’s really… insensitive… almost idiotic to suggest that something should be restricted to only the most hardcore of players.
I’m glad I hear they made it easier. This game has catered to hardcore players for far too long. I play hard and I find many things challenging. I ENJOY those challenges, and it’s only because I’m actually mentally unable to even hope to complete some things that I’ve had to let it go, and go back to finding vistas. I’m happy with being excluded from a thing here or there, but for fark sakes, posts like the OP, if listened to will have me unable to play the game like my friend.
Granted I’m told the clock tower rewards sucked, I think holiday JPs should be about pure prestige, and not cosmetics beyond the physiological OR hardware limitations of ANet’s player’s: a title only. No exclusive skins.
It’s like a publicly scheduled Christmas party where all the food is on the second floor with no ramps or elevators.
I wasn’t even ticked about the situation until I read the OP. It’s very much NOT in the Wintersday spirit.
Ticket 121124-000311 was submitted on November 23rd (3 weeks ago) and has not been touched at all. Thank you
So the Wintersday update came pretty late, and I think I like that, because it gave the best chance of people being able to enjoy it. Then it hit me.
I want to pass my turn, even though it’s been 3 weeks because the problem with my account doesn’t prevent me from logging. In the spirit of wintersday, I didn’t give a second thought to asking my ticket be shuffled behind those who as of yet cannot play <333 Mine doesn’t seem a terribly important issue, but if it’s deemed not a priority for this long, I would trust the support team and concede to having someone else be able to play
Ticket 121124-000311 was submitted on November 23rd (3 weeks ago) and has not been touched at all. Thank you
Since there’s a general panic and admitted censoring regarding discussions of infraction, I simply and respectfully request a simple thing on the forum where users can see points against them on their own account.
Not just because it will make users more aware of the rules and more equipped to protect themselves, but it also solves the problems people are still having receiving communications/warnings from the moderator team about their infractions.
If you have something to add, please keep in mind the rules about discussing infraction service tickets and infraction policies and keep it on topic of a forum improvement.
I’m not inviting users to flame about injustice because that would close this thread and disservice users who are trying to play it safe – myself included.
Please keep this about improving interface and communication.
Happy Holidays players and team <3
I’ve noticed that the ranger Soften the Fall major trait sometimes triggers when hitting water. I don’t really see how it would benefit or put anyone at a disadvantage, cause it’s effect is non functional and the only way the cooldown would sabotage you is if it triggered when you dived into water at the top of a waterfall for example, then you jumped over the falls to land on dry land… sorry if you’ve never used Soften the Fall and are confused.
Anyway, some “land” nearby was finally affected when it triggered hitting the water… you can extrapolate the hilarity.
PS: It happens in open water too, the effect just dissipates much more quickly, as evidenced between the lily pads. Obviously not a priority, but an entertaining bug nonetheless.
PPS: The stone spirit skill uses the same animation when it triggers, even underwater. It really freaked me and my party out the first time my dolphin let loose an explosion of mud underwater…
Thanks Regina for the fix of admitted vagueness. No one’s angry. But I love how the thread stayed so classy and impersonal after ANet acknowledged the simple request for verification. Keep it up, trolls, and you you could get hired as a grentch
PS: Interpretation of wording or expression, grammar and spelling don’t make a person “educated” in the slightest
EDIT: Weird bug, as soon as I posted this it tells me I posted it 3 hours prior

Dream, can I suggest something simpler? It won’t do exactly what you ask but I think it would be easier.
My whispers channel automatically changes addressee… it’s a known issue. But when they fix it, I suggest they allow multiple whisper channels – more specifically one dedicated to each person you are whispering – exclusively. And clearly marked too with the recipient’s name in place of a custom tag. It would make it easier not to accidently send something to the wrong person, or think the whisper you’re getting is from someone you’re already whispering with. SORT THE SKITTLES!
There’s this large bubble that’s seems to be keeping the secret to making gold in this game. Because, 6-7 gold is a lot to me and that’s with playing 5hrs a day! I’m guessing everyone just run’s dungeons in full MF gear??? Because I dislike MF and Dungeons, it’s the only variable I can imagine.
…
The drop rate must be incredibly low on them.
Hey KyleQuest – no worries (kinda) 6-7 gold is a buttload of gold for pretty much anyone I’ve ever talked to in game. That’s because I’m a social player and don’t like playing the market. I have more fun being poor, as I always say.
…
As the previous poster replied, yes, they smash nerfed drops significantly. ANet’s not fooling anyone – the player base keeps data and statistics. The TP phenomenon isn’t ALL “inflation”
After my newly repaired computer crashed AGAIN, it was fixed…. I guess I’ll look into profiling software if it happens again when it’s repaired for the 3rd time in 5 weeks.
Thanks though, kirito, I hadn’t thought about that <3
Anywhere else, real life online, if you see an advertisement for buying something, you contact the buyer directly. You don’t have to pay for a listing advert lol! OP is right… it’s not game breaking but it makes 0 sense other than a gold sink which hurts buyers by discouraging sellers to sell to the highest bid.
Check out the Wintersday teaser
They’ll come. Gradually.
The forums’ search function is god-awful so I couldn’t find anything there.
Darn straight.
Also, I appreciate the removal of this option simply because it was bugged. They don’t have to make it perfect though! Settings like postprocessing and supersampling WARN users if it’s for “high end graphics cards” only. Before ANet released an update close to launch (it was already supposed to be compatibile) my computer would crash immediately if I even selected a drop-down menu in graphics options. They fixed that soon enough.
@ ANet: Please let us know when you plan to return this beloved feature to us, or at least that you have it in your sights. Please don’t scrap the hard work you did implementing this amazing boon in the BWEs
I hope somehow everyone has access to this feature when it returns, but it’s likely it will cause problems on some machines… but it’s an optional feature, and no reason to deny it to everyone.
I wrote a big thoughtful reply and apology for being a bit rude. I see where you’re coming from now. But I made a typo and hit backspace so my browser decided I wanted to go back a page and my post got deleted. My main points to respond for anyone who’s reading:
- 250 of one tier doesn’t have to return 250 of the next tier
- at half efficiency, assuming a fee and/or ruined mats (ie 125 softwood for 250 green wood), it’s still twice as expensive to do the exchange. Think binary. 2 stacks of T1 for 1 stack of T2. 4 Stacks of T1 for one stack of T3… 32 stacks of T1 for 1 stack of T6. Why would one waste money? Because:
- Some players don’t use the TP, and some players like to hang out indefinitely in low level areas (think of the appeal of Pre-Searing). It gives these players a sense of doing it buy themselves while doing the other things they love. The can improve their crafting, RP, and equip themselves with higher level weapons and armour for more work, more mats – an excellent option for those who can’t farm orr, and also an excellent sink for low level mats.
- The market won’t be affected because, obviously, the people who do this will be using the mats… its not at all profitable to upgrade to T6 to sell T6 mats.
Not pretending I have a great fix, I might be missing something, but current promotion is useless because it’s not profitable for rich players, and not possible for poor players lol.
Also, if anyone’s worried about crafted items flooding the market… crafted rares are not profitable even if you salvage for ectos. The money it takes out of the market in mats more than accounts for the crafted goods entering the market. Even assuming no one uses what they craft personally.
Also, I apologize again, not only for being rude but making myself a bit of a hypocrite by forgetting to explain fully where I was coming from <3
Huh?
What you suggest will never happen already happens on multiple fronts lol. In fact you can turn any mats into currency…
They also added a sink with the statue already. They can obviously do it again and I suspect they will keep adding similar content to keep the market from flooding. I only suggest a sink that tricks players into feeling rewarded economically and encourages progress instead of giving up – rather than holding us hostage for an environmental feature the designers CHOSE to destroy lol.
I have no clue where you’re coming from, Field Marshal :/ Then again you sound like someone that’s given up entirely, like those I mentioned.
EDIT: I just realized you may have been suggesting actually crafting coins at a station… ignoring the fact that, again, all mats can be sold, it provides a realism problem: counterfeiting. Whereas aging wood is common practise IRL, realistic and again, already happens. In fact, aging wood mats makes a lot more sense than turning one type of gemstone into a completely different mineral which you can presently do at a jeweler’s station.
What I request is less of a stretch for developers than what they’re doing at present lol.

+1 on making the elite slot available for standard utilities as well! Some professions don’t have reasonable access to an elite underwater. And in some situations elites aren’t that useful. Usually they’re pretty good but there are so few! I think the range of skills is acceptable but occasionally the skill you need won’t fit in a slot you can’t use otherwise.
I’m even more confused because the in-game description for MAJOR sigil of water is identical to the superior sigil: 30% chance.
Make a habit out of censoring yourself, and it can be funny and creative at the same time. If you want you can manually substitute “puppy” for a word you know/suspect will be kittened.
Or you can borrow a page from Marge Simpson: “THOSE FUD RUCKERS!”
Instead of “what the kitten?” or “holy kitten!”… try “swinging baloney!”
(edited by Zaith.9132)
Totally BlakThornArrow!
The lack of first person and close up capabilities is what I meant by “the game camera stinks”.
Also, the original High Res screens took pictures at a dpi much much much beyond maximum setting, including super-sample regardless of the settings you used. It EVEN automatically hid the interface! I was so looking forward to it after BWE2. It’s a serious step in the right direction for graphic enthusiasts… which I hope everyone will be able to be in the future because the game is effing gorgeous!
I’m stuck using special pixel density increasing software (like Genuine Fractals) to blow up my characters for publicity adverts, biographies and albums. I can run max settings for the purpose of taking the screens but it’s no where near close to the option they had before launch
I don’t like the implication that they’ve held us virtually hostage from environmental content until we voluntarily comply to a basic material sink.
I pay my 10% seller’s tax in-game at the TP. Where are our characters’ in-game taxes going, messieurs développants?
A better option would be to introduce an alchemical aging station where players can pay an eccentric asura to artifically age lower tier wood for a reasonably small fee and or other mats. Just as an example, similar to gem transmogrification and mystic forge promotion.
Wow guys. I’m bumping and also confirming my friends on other servers (Not Tarnished Coast at least) are still having this problem too. It all started with the unannounced maintenance a week ago. Don’t say “it WAS announced”. It was made known, yes, but in a way that was about as official as my bank sending a musical barbershop to my door in lieu of a bank statement on paper.
PS: Also, gold farming is no longer profitable unless your server is really behind on their info. The only way to make decent gold in this game is with luck or exploiting the market. I account for the fact that the definition of “decent” gold has changed.
I can’t find the option in client to adjust scroll wheel sensitivity for zoom. Nothing’s changed outside of client with regard to scrolling in things like browsers and Photoshop.
In-game I need to quickly roll the scroll wheel a ton before it moves, and it no longer moves in the tiered increments. Often the camera zooms in a fraction of what it used to. And sometimes it zooms immediately as close as possible. Underwater this usually results in my character’s bum in my screen. It’s like I’m playing a bad exploitation film!
Anyway, I’m sure there’s a simple fix for the sensitivity, but I’m hopeless navigating things at certain times.
Thanks lairds and ladies! <3
Wondering if someone can point me to information on when we can expect a return of High Resolution screenshots. I know they took the option away because they bugged, but I hope it’s high on their list. I use screens a lot in my art as well as in guild forums and guild publicity.
Only asking cause the game camera kinda stinks and I can’t zoom in on my characters enough OR it zooms in on their crotch or above their head. I await the day I can get quality head shots again.
I’d like to see drop rates back to what they were at launch. First week of September I got about 2 a day when I played 2-3 hours/day. When they increased the drop rates weeks ago I got 4 or 5 in a 45 minute play session. I definetly don’t want that kind of DR but that weekend was REALLY fun lol.
I’m playing 6 hrs + /day now due to my recovery and I’m going 2-3 days between drops. My guildmates call me lucky.
Thanks Jeff I don’t know much about how things are programmed – so many things were going wrong. Maybe the game thought I completed the quest when the NPC died… after all I don’t think the gates are supposed to open until you finish killing the baddies.
EDIT: I guess I’ll have to find a playthough on YouTube to find out what I missed.
EDIT 2: Is it possible to clock back my (1) character’s entire progress? I’ve done little else since I relogged to find my story done without me lol – I wouldn’t mind at all collecting the few POIs in Kessex Hills again. Yah, it’s a long shot. Regardless, do you do these things for more dramatic cases? JC.
Thanks again for the official reply :o <3
(edited by Zaith.9132)
Mail some stuff to a trusted friend and have them return to sender a few times. Keep it in your mail until you can post your trove
Reset time for Tarnished Coast has been 12:00 AM GMT (or 7:00 PM my time) for months – as long as I’ve been doing dailies :/
This kinda makes me sick, but maybe it’s what I was asking for.
Price of Abyss 2 days ago: 34 g
Price of Abyss now: 18 g
So I was having a bug with Accusation (16). Well… a lot – all to do with the gate.
1. I kept getting stuck between the gates when they closed.
2. When I didn’t make it to the gates before they closed, the bandits ran right through it and killed the NPC I’m supposed to talk to after I kill them… what?
3. When I made it past the gates and didn’t get stuck, the cannon on the walls would not stop jerking around when I used it (ok, that one didn’t have anything to do with the gate).
4. When I used the vat to pour oil/tar on the bandits which didn’t glitch through the closed gate, they ran away from the AoE closer to the gate… and became completely invulnerable to all subsequent attacks.
I submitted a bug report after failing the quest 5 times. When I relogged my character doing that personal story was back in Kessex Hills… with the quest completed. WTH? Now I have no idea what’s going on with my PS. Can I get rolled back to PS (16) so I can wait until these bugs are fixed.
I’d rather enjoy the game than get ported past something because someone thinks I’m too lazy to wait for bug fixes. I’ll wait for the next patch to continue my PS when this bugfest is fixed. If it’s yet another bug that skipped my PS, I apologize, but I really don’t wanna miss part of my character’s story.
Z
Explanation: I’d like to be able to transmute accessories to keep the name and icon. I’m talking accessories of the same slot type.
Reason: I wanna be able to wear my character’s wedding band ring, using a plain ring icon. I also wanna wear the karma spiked moa collar from Queensdale cause my ranger’s kinda… like that
Justification: I realize accessories don’t have skins. But that makes the job even easier – it’s just changing the item’s name and icon! It also gives us another sink for those pretty useless basic transmutation stones you get 5 dozen for before your character hits 80, and a reason for RP players to actually seek/buy fine transmutation stones when you do… It allows the option that wasn’t there before at all, and the only market it benefits is the gem store. Everyone wins for this relatively simple extra function.
/me strokes the spiked moa collar
Stone spirit has no active functionality underwater. They need to update A LOT of AoE effects for underwater. In fact, it almost looks like the dolphin has a hemorrhage before the “softened ground” animation glitchingly vanishes. It’s a very awkward-looking, broken skill. Basically my point is that an underwater revamp is likely on the table. Some professions are at a severe disadvantage underwater. I know a guildy was wondering why she wasn’t allowed to have an elite skill underwater as a guardian… tbh, underwater combat is extremely complicated (or seems that way) and it’s certainly fun. But because of this, it seems reasonable to assume it was a rush job and work in progress. I support this thread.
When was this nerfed? I’ve only had to swim to the surface a couple times. Either I died underwater, or I made it was was immediately “downed” on the surface. My downed skills on the water were always non-responsive, but I always assumed it was a bug. At least I know it’s what is supposed to happen now… although I don’t like it and it doesn’t make sense lol.
Hey Retrospek – I tried what you said and I got what I expected.
It only autofills (for me) if I have someone selected. With no portrait, I can “Mail Item To” and the recipient will be blank. This could be dangerous as I often send personal letters with gifts… awkward.
