Feedback/Questions: Town clothes, Costumes, & Combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

All I can say is I’m glad I never got into town clothing because I would have been even more devastated by the future update to it.

What I think should have happened is to have just made them separate skins – that way you can wear them whenever and however you like. #problemsolved

A friend and I were talking about this today too. If it includes trinkets and such, that would be awesome. That would mean I can put my syzygy with its 20% magic find infusion from my guardian, on to my elementalist whenever I want :-P though I won’t be too sad if it doesn’t include trinkets and all that either way.

Apr. 15th, Cultural Armor No Longer Cultural?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

The way in which I think it will work is this:

Any cultural armor skins you’ve got will be unlocked in the wardrobe, available for any of your characters to use, but would still require the respective race for that skin to be applied.

Sort of like in the PvP locker, you might have the skin unlocked, but not have the actual race requirement to apply it.

ascended spinal back question

Hi there, I was wondering if someone could please help me on this.

My guardian currently has the ascended green spinal backpiece (synergetic), but I want to change it to the blue version (dynamic) …

Can I change it from green to blue with 4x Elonian Wine, 10x Crystalline Dust, 10x Dynamic Assault Knight Power Core and my green backpiece? Or do I have to make an entirely new ascended backpiece (the tempered, yellow version) to change it to the blue version?

For the love of god do NOT listen to these guys. After the patch goes live the market will be flooded with unid dyes. Prices will drop and stabilize after a week or so. These guys only want you to buy the dyes they are selling.

Exactly. There’s going to be a ton of unid dyes released after the patch because of all the double ups of dyes everyone has unlocked on all their characters. I’m not touching them with a ten foot pole right now.

Zaoda.1653

Meh. I hardly use my infinite chop-it-all logging axe, so won’t need another infinite axe. Golem finisher is meh. And the dyes aren’t really special either. You can get very good looking basic dyes that do the same job. Someone said earlier I think it was the ‘brick’ dye and the enamelled crimson one look pretty much the same. Only very minor differences. If the dyes had animations or special effects, I’d be interested, but at this point in time, I can’t see myself wasting any money on these.

Celestial after the patch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Celestial is pretty much dead at this point. It was a nice all-round set when it had Magic Find on it, so you aren’t completely helpless… then they took that away and didn’t offer compensation to Celestial users.

The critical damage was the next best thing about it – now they’re taking that away as well, granted this time they are compensating somewhat, after a huge ruckus was made about it in dozens of threads.

But the bottom line is, you might as well make Soldier’s if you wanted Celestial for the defensive capabilities, whilst maintaining good damage output. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen someone on this forum already math out the Celestial vs. Soldier’s comparison and they were almost identical pre-Ferocity in terms of power. Which means, now Soldier’s will be the clear winner.

I was starting to think I should go for soldiers gear too now, but then I thought, well, magic find gear was nerfed, then berserkers and celestial, and most likely, eventually they’ll decide soldiers gear is too defensive. Just can’t win :-/ Don’t know what to do now.

No Permanent Hair Contracts In Stock

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaoda.1653

It’s so weird that the other permanent contracts have decent supply and demand, yet the permanent hair contracts supply are just non existent. If the rates of getting them are the same as other contracts from the black lion chests, perhaps someone is hoarding them all?

Though I checked GW2Spidy and it doesn’t seem like anyone has, so I really don’t understand why there’s 0 in supply, especially if it’s true that it’s the same rate as the other contracts

I hope whoever it is, is right. I’ve got way too many blade shards I’ll never use.

Anet also needs to do something about the abundance of thick leather sections. There’s over 6,600,000 of it on the trading post. It’s merch food and there’s too much of it. Perhaps offer some zephyr sanctum supply box or something for 250 thick leather sections, like what they did in the Bazaar of the Four Winds living story.

No Permanent Hair Contracts In Stock

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Seriously, there have been nada-zero-zilch-zip permanent hair stylist contracts in the trading post for AGES.

I understand Anet wants to keep it rare, that’s fine, but really? So rare to the point that there’s been none in supply for months, and the fact that the highest buy offer has reached 2,550 gold – up there with the price of legendary greatswords? Come on now…

It’s ridiculous. I think there should be more in supply, equal to the amount of the others.

Pics included below.

Can Anet confirm you can even get them from the black lion chests? Because I haven’t heard of a single player getting one.

Then to find out the npc that is supposedly giving us more uses for blade shards was also in the news, but not actually implemented. Which made me think… Wait, what parts of the news are actually relevant and were implemented? Or do we have to wait another 2 weeks for any actual new content?

Is The Equipment Preview, Misleading?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Hmmm I just logged onto my ele who I left in Divinity’s Reach and you guys are right, he looks completely different. This is at night time and the preview is almost identical to the pictures of my ele here in Divinity’s Reach – although the back is a bit off, but the front looks quite good. Just wish it was like this EVERYWHERE :-( It’s inconsistent and extremely annoying. Wish Anet would change it so the preview is consistent with the actual appearance no matter what the situation is.

Below is what I wish my character looked like EVERYWHERE :-( a bit brighter perhaps though, like it is in the preview. Then it would be perfect.

Is The Equipment Preview, Misleading?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

For me, it most definitely is. You would think that when you preview a piece of armor or perhaps a weapon or two, that everything would turn out exactly as it shows… right? Well, in this case, things can look quite the opposite.

Take the outfit of my elementalist below, for example. I was trying to make the colours work perfectly with the zodiac chest, and in the preview, it did look perfect – to me anyway (especially with the ‘sky’ dye I bought specifically for it), but then reality hits you like a ton of bricks when you see the final outcome. Heck, the one on the right looks almost green, not blue. What is with that?

First you think, ok, maybe it’s just the lighting, so you adjust the graphics. Nothing. Ok, maybe I’m in the shade, so you go into the sunniest location/direction. Still looks the same. By then you’re thinking, ‘well, I’ve exhausted all my options – the interface is just downright misleading’.

Am I the only one here? Have you guys experienced something that looks 100% perfect in the preview and you’re really happy with the look of your character, only to find out it looks completely different when it comes to the final outcome?

Edit: 1st picture is in Edge of The Mists with the comparison of the preview vs. the actual appearance. The 2nd Picture is my character at Divinity’s Reach at night time with front and back views of the actual appearance. HUGE difference.

Turns out it is a combination of the lighting, material of armor, area you’re in, AND time of day. Quite annoying really :-/

Are gemstore prices aceptable?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I think some are extremely overpriced.

Examples:

Name Change Contract 800 gems (same as a full outfit, or 2 total makeover kits with 100 gems leftover, all for a simple change in letters?) should be less than a makeover kit, so 200-250 gems.

Scarlet’s shoulders 400 gems – really? That’s half a full outfit. Rip off.
Scarlet’s gloves 400 gems – same deal here. Half an outfit. Big rip off.

Probably more examples but those are the main 3 that stick out to me.

CDI Topics You'd love to see

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaoda.1653

Underwater Content

- Make the underwater headgear dyeable
- Allow us to get rare/exotic/ascended underwater headgear
- Make underwater skills more powerful in general (I only use Mesmer and Necro for underwater combat because their skills are quite good. I hear Engineer skills are good underwater too, but for the rest of the classes – not so much. Especially the elementalist. Even with high berserker stats, the fireball skill underwater does like 300-350 damage… IN A LEVEL 80 ZONE!!! – I mean c’mon…)

Black Lion Trading Post Improvements

- Remove the selling error when selling tons of stuff (It’s just annoying)
- Add a ‘back’ button, so players don’t have to click on another tab and then the tab you were previously on to go back to that page
- Add a ‘search’ button to items bought/sold/buying/selling

More customisation

- Add a skin locker
- Make weapons dyeable
- Introduce Exotic/Legendary dyes with animations/special effects
- Allow certain armor to merge/combine to create entirely new armor (if, say, you had a shoulderpiece that normally only goes on 1 side of the body, you could combine 2 of the same type in some sort of mystic forge/crafting recipe or something and create a shoulderpiece where it works on both sides of the body – I’ve made an example below)

That’s all I can think of for now.

Make Dragonite Purchasable with Karma

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I WvW a lot and get stacks of dragonite easily, but I can understand that for others, WvW simply isn’t an option. It’s like with me and dungeons. I love the armor, but I am never going to do any dungeons because I hate them. This means I’ll never get any dungeon armor, and that’s just sadly something I’ll have to live with.

I do agree that there should be more ways of obtaining dragonite, because after all the ascended mats I’ve received, dragonite is by far the hardest to obtain.

If we go by the same pricing of karma > obsidian shards, then it should be the same for dragonite I reckon.

2100 karma per 10 dragonite ore (or 210 karma per dragonite ore)

Which would be 52.5k karma for 250 dragonite ore. Sounds reasonable to me.

Name Change Contract Overpriced

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

You don’t find it worth it, so don’t get one. That’s how it works. Others find a bane change to be worth that much, so they buy them. I personally dint find the price to be unreasonable. Your name is usually something you keep forever, so it costs more to change.

I’m not getting one. But just because I have an opinion doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to express it on these forums. And I’m sorry but I find your ‘if you don’t like it, don’t get it’ comment quite condescending.

Name Change Contract Overpriced

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Why don’t you think the Name-Change-Contract isn’t worth 2x the makeover kit?

Because I actually think it is. If you’re not happy with the looks of your character you can easily buy new armor that may cover up the parts you dislike. So there a quite a few options.

If you’re not happy with the Name there is only the delete or live with it option, which with a Level 80 char and maybe crafts on 400+ isn’t really an option. So the Name-Change-Contract is worth alot (time and money) in a Situation like that.

Why don’t I think it’s worth it? Because a total makeover kit costs 350 gems and can completely change your whole character’s appearance, yet a simple change of letters in your character’s name costs at least double that? It’s ridiculous. I LOVE total makeover kits too, but I’d rather have 2 of them and have 100 gems leftover, than to spend 800 gems on a few different letters in my name. Total makeover kits = worth it. Name change = a rip off.

Passive 25% run signet for all classes

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Seriously, it’s unfair to have some classes have a 25% passive increase in movement skill, and others, none. I understand some (like the guardian) should have more based on their class and what role they have in GW2 (like shout skills which also just happen to have a 33% run speed skill – that’s fine, I have no beef with that), but to have others hardly have any run skills whatsoever, isn’t cool.

For example, my Mesmer’s only run skill is her focus #4 skill, and even then I fail to keep up with zergs in WvW and EOTM many times, often missing out on captures, badges and loot. Sure, I could buy 6 superior runes of speed for the 25% increase in movement, but why should I have to? I shouldn’t have to sacrifice my other runes just to keep up – especially when it seems most other classes get this passive 25% movement skill for free.

Furthermore, I would have to fork out 12 gold just to keep up with the zerg. That’s 12 gold that other classes don’t have to pay – it almost seems like GW2 WANT the Mesmer to be as slow as a turtle. This isn’t asking for some uber-ultra-overpowered elite skill or something, this is simply asking for a passive run signet for ALL professions so that we can all keep up.

It’s come to a point now where I’m having to think – ok, maybe I’ll have to fork out 12g just to keep up with the zerg, even though it’s unfair and other classes don’t have to worry about stuff like this, but even then, even if I did, that could very well change with the update to runes/sigils, so I’m constantly thinking ‘should I… shouldn’t I…?‘. For all I know the superior runes of speed could completely change, I don’t know. I just think it’s extremely unfair to have half the classes have the option of running a constant 25% faster, and have the other half walking as slow as turtles, desperately trying to keep up with zergs.

TL;DR

A 25% passive increase in movement signet is something every class should have. Please make it happen.

Name Change Contract Overpriced

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

Right now I have 32g on me, and even that only gets me 387 gems. So it’s double that – that’s at least 64g for a simple name change.

OR you could a full outfit (6 armor skins) OR 2 total makeover kits and 100 gems leftover.

It’s a rip off, plain and simple.

I think a more reasonable price would be 250 gems, because it’s certainly not as valuable as 1 total makeover kit (let alone 2, and have 100 gems leftover) that can change your whole character, and also not as valuable as 6 armor skins.

Lack of skimpy male clothing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

OP to be fair most guys don’t wear skimpy clothing whilst many more female’s do. Im not against it but it is not sexist at all it’s realistic.

From my perspective, the only thing that is realistic is that it is sexist to have one gender blatantly more skimpy than the other. It’s the same thing as going to a beach and finding it perfectly ok for guys to be shirtless, but not girls (but hey, I’m not complaining about that :-P #eyecandy), but the fact is it’s a double standard – at least in gaming anyway… (It certainly may not be true in real life because, like you say, guys don’t tend to wear skimpy clothing IRL – ok maybe the odd tight shirt or jeans, but that doesn’t really count).

That double standard is sadly reality though. This is what I’m hoping Anet changes.

Scarlet's Shoulders & Gloves in gemstore

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Zaoda.1653

Zaoda.1653

I bought it and I like it.

I guess I will continue to subsidize this game for you non-purchasers

You’re welcome!

By doing so you encourage a pricing scheme that actively deters players both from buying gems and playing (and therefore inviting others to play). So in the long run, the game loses money and players.

I’m very happy to support the game, but 500 players buying these at 800 gems is financially the same as 1,000 buying them at 400 because there are no material costs once the design has been made. In the latter case, you get 1,000 happy players who feel they got a good deal, in the former you don’t. Happy players and same money > unhappy players and same money. That’s even assuming that halving the price would only double the buyers, and ignoring other factors like the fact that at 400 gems you’d still need to buy 800, and that more loyal players will buy more things in the long run.

That’s exactly how I feel, written in words :-D

The more items I purchase that I KNOW is overpriced, the more THAT becomes normalised and expected. Lately I’ve been making a personal stand by only buying things that both 1) I like and 2) are priced fairly – These are priced unfairly, and I may like them, but that won’t matter in the end.

In this particular case, Anet has lost me with this purchase. If it was priced fairly, they would have gained my gems. I may only be 1 customer, but I can only imagine how many others refuse to buy these because of their price.

Same situation with the Name Change Contract – 800 gems for a simple name change? Jeez… that’s more than the price of receiving 2 total makeover kits. I know which one I’d rather choose – just sayin’

That’s really cool of you to give them some home baked cookies! I did a similar thing once by sending a bunch of goodies to the Runescape staff after all they’d done for me – there was a point in time of my life where I was going to end it all, but Runescape was there for me to escape reality and I stayed alive through that dark period – so it was the least I could have done for them because Runescape literally saved my life.

I admire how Anet includes characters that otherwise wouldn’t normally be included in most MMORPG’s due to discrimination. I was surprised Anet included the kissing scene between Kasmeer and Jory for example, because it’s not often I see people like myself (I’m a guy and I’m gay) in real life, let alone in gaming, so it’s nice to know that there are others out there like me too. I really admire what Anet did for the LGBT community by having that scene – it’s also really brave of them too because there are quite a few companies these days that are ridiculed for being pro-equality (Just look at how many companies dropped Ellen DeGeneres when she came out).

I’d probably be willing to drop some gems on more appealing underwear/swimwear for my characters too. Those bright yellow bra/panties make me cringe.

Yeah my boxer/briefs/whatever they are make me cringe too.

Perhaps the Lord Faren’s underwear skin and Kasmeer’s bikini skin could come with the next Southsun living story or something, I don’t know. All I know is I want Lord Faren’s underwear as a skin :-(

Lack of skimpy male clothing

Seriously, there is hardly any skimpy male clothing. Females seem to get most of the revealing tops – why not Guys? It’s sexist. One of the more revealing male tops is probably the feathered top (but even then, the male feathered top has NOTHING on the bloobs that female zodiac tops have), yet it has long sleeves that really ruin it.

And while we’re at it, there should be a ‘Lord Faren’s Underwear’ skin. Seriously, I’d pay gems for that! Why hasn’t Anet made this already? It would sell like hotcakes. I’m sure many players would want skimpy beach-themed armor skins.

There should also be red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple/pink flesh colored skins in the gemstore too (sylvari shouldn’t get ALL the skin colors, it’s extremely racist).

Edit: I’ve included a ton of pics below for comparison. My point is the amount of skin showing, or lack thereof, for the males.

I’ve also included a photoshopped version of my elementalist with a blue flesh skin (also wearing the zodiac top) and Lord Faren’s underwear – because I want a ‘Dr. Manhattan’ (From the Watchmen comic series) outfit for him one day. If only his underwear skin were available…
