I would like to know this as well. I missed out on the dreamthistle staff just a few days AFTER I finally managed to assemble 1 golden ticket, then of course I get another full ticket by fluke, from a chest. So now I have 2 golden tickets to use, but nothing to use them on.
I would have thought there’d be new skins in December – got none. I thought, oh well, perhaps in the first month of the new year – SURELY!? But nope.
:-/
At least its not in the gemstore!
Shhhh don’t give them any ideas ;-P
Yeah I agree, I’m also disappointed that it’s not only RNG, but it’s only 3 pieces – why bother? That’s like giving someone half a cake and saying ‘sorry, I ate the rest of it on the way here and there’s no way I can make another one’.
I’m not really a fan of the look of ascended armor anyway, so it doesn’t REALLY bother me that much, but it still bothers me in the sense that the way it’s been implemented has been done so poorly in my opinion.
And I like how they won’t refund my deleted soulbound infinite gathering items that I spent my real life money on (I deleted the guy along with the infinite gathering tools because I needed to make a new character, I couldn’t afford a new character slot with gems, and didn’t want to hold onto that character for God knows how long on the off chance the infinite gathering tools’ soulbound status would change), only to find out months later down the track they decided to finally make them account bound and won’t give me any of them back because I ‘deleted’ them, and therefore is apparently completely my fault I wasn’t able to predict the future…
Let’s face it, they won’t change my situation OR this one for that matter, because that would actually be helpful and morally right.
Just have to move on, unfortunately :-(
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Ohhhh. That makes sense then. Ok thanks
I wonder if the great jungle wurm is a permanent feature
It says on the wiki it’s obtained via the ‘Great Jungle Wurm in Bloodtide Coast’, but I don’t see it in the Trading Post or anything, and I’m sure as heck not going to try and defeat that wurm. Tried it. Failed miserably. Is it even tradeable? I want it.
Edit: The code for it is [&AgGnwgAA] btw if anyone is interested in seeing what it looks like
I hope the tree one becomes available soon (none in stock atm) and I hope it comes down to a reasonable price, I love that tonic :-D
My guess is early-mid March :-( as much as I love the current look of it on my ele, it makes me anxious not knowing when the armor will be changed (I HATE surprises).
I just want the Ritualist in GW2. That’s the only new class I want really.
I don’t mind huge zerging in PvE living story content as long as there’s lots of loot to be had, AND if there’s something to look forward to, like the toxic spore skin in other living stories, but this one doesn’t have any skins to aim for – which makes me a sad panda.
Guess I’ll just get this meta over with for the achievement points and wait for the next LS. Hopefully it’ll have some new skins and perhaps new black lion weapon skins? Haven’t had any new ones for a while now.
Storm Bow/Tormented Shield/Greater Arced Blade/Voltaic Spear/Bone Dragon Staff/Chaos gloves/Celestial Weapons/Dhuum’s Soul Reaper (as a staff skin perhaps?)
I’d be happy with any one of those tbh. And I know we have a similar version of the Voltaic Spear, the ’Al’ir’aska’ in GW2, but you can’t dye the GW2 version (as you could in GW1) and it also doesn’t have the original pulsating/electric current animation that made it so epic in GW1.
Edit: If I could only choose 1 weapon set, I’d choose the tormented weapons set, and if I could only choose 1 armor set, I’d choose the fissure of woe/obsidian ritualist armor.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
For example, players like myself want the PvP version of the Masquerade items for PvE outfits. They’re so fitting and look a lot like Ritualist armor from GW1, and I’m saddened that they aren’t available in PvE. I even came up with a couple outfits I really like (pictured below), but I can’t get the PvP versions in PvE :-(!!! #makesmeasadpanda
Surely I’m not the only one?
I know there are other players who want some Mesmer-like female outfit that was datamined a while back and somehow never made it in the game. Are there any other skins that are related to GW2, that people wished were available, and aren’t?
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Abyss, Celestial, Cyanide, Turquoise, Redemption, Illumination, Brick, Molten

Sixth playable race confirmed. ALIENS!
Nah I’m pretty sure Sylvari have you covered there. At least, with a total makeover kit anyway… below is how I was able to obtain a new alien’ish look with my necro.
If anything, I’d expect to see Tengu as the next playable race (as much as I don’t think it will be fitting really because their body shapes would be too similar to charr, but I can’t think of any other new race that would be appropriate for GW2)
Ok thanks :-P
——
15 chars
What do you call a trio of Sylvari Engineers?
The TREE musketeers.
Knock Knock.
Who’s There?
PIKEN SQUARE
[I was originally from Piken Square so I said it all the time XD. In case you didn’t get it… It rhymes]
From the beginning GW2 was marketed as basically being a one off payment to buy the game, and if you wanted more perks, you could spend more real life money in the gemstore. That’s it – case closed.
If we’re forced to suddenly start paying a monthly fee? I’m out.
Not sure, but I’d love to have a greater chance at getting one of those infinite tonics that can transform you into a tree. I’d have so much fun with that :-(
Someone gives a kitten about this particular achievement :-D
(turn volume down a bit :-P)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnvrojsGLNM
See what I did there.
On topic… sorry I don’t know :-/ the only way I got my wintersday meta achievement was through a few donations to the npc’s and 16 or so from dailies because I couldn’t do the jumping puzzle, or be bothered going with randoms to do the Tox thing or the Wrecking Ball thing or the Choir Bell thing.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Yeah, I thought it was a bit odd that Anet wouldn’t mix it up a bit – perhaps chucking a snowball at Norn or Charr. You’d think there’d be a bit of variety innit?
Hi guys. I was just wondering if anyone could answer this question for me please :-D
Will Giant Wintersday gifts still give you the possibility of obtaining the ascended recipes once the Wintersday Living Story is over?
Many thanks
UFO’s are obviously part of the New World Order.
I would like to imagine 500 Chef giving foods extended durations (more than 1 hour) and perhaps being able to combine the durations by putting 4 of the same food together. Though this is only wishful thinking. Who knows how it will be implemented
Too many.
And that’s all you’re gonna get :-P
It’s blatantly obvious that manipulation is going on. Just ignore the numbers (because they’re clearly fake).
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
1. No dyeable weapons
2. No second/sub profession
3. No hero system
4. Hardly any skill unlocks/removal of Signet of Capture (though to be fair, this is being looked into now with the CDI)
5. Unable to collect loot that is right next to you, when you’re dead (so annoying. Missed out on a lot of loot because of this)
I can’t believe that they compared living story with Game of Thrones…lol…
Game of Thrones utterly awesome 9.99/10 better than Lord of the Rings, Tolkien.
GW2 Living Story, ‘a bit of a mess’ and I am being very, very kind there…60-70% of GW2 players are not even aware of any story and the rest hate it! GW2 living story 3/10.
Also, if the next 4 updates are focused on Living Story, does this mean no updates for WvW or PvP until March 2014?
I have the feeling we won’t be getting WvW account bound xp until March :-( same with the flamekissed armor redesign. Kinda disappointing really.
Ask Lance Armstrong :-P
I think if they were RICH nodes, I’d reconsider, but since it isn’t, I’m not even touching that node package with a 10 foot pole.
This gem store item is just as irrelevant as Swim Boosters.
Wait… what?
Don’t hear them Michelle Philps, you will surely beat them on the Tyrian Olympics swimming competition… just you wait and see…
After using our speed boosters for the racing part we’ll just need to figure out what to do on the jumping competition… I can already feel the booster coming.
I think you mean Michael Phelps :-P Anyways it’s obvious he was on the roids – you can see it in their face when they go to the winning podium and they have that ‘I can’t believe I got away with it’ look… it’s the same look I saw in Lance Armstrong, and it’s the same look I see with a fellow kiwi I honestly believe cheated – Hayden Roulston. And I haven’t been wrong yet.
Either way, swim boosters are so useless that it’s laughable. And the ore nodes would be ‘convenient’ IF you could get all 20 gatherings in 1 go, and it doesn’t even do that. And just going to WvW Eternal Battlegrounds (or even your home borderland and heading to the north camp which has quite a few) and walking round a bit, you get your gatherings with absolute ease – I don’t know why people complain about it being so hard?
I don’t think it’s per character, I think it’s per account, so that means a total of 9 ores per day. I think someone calculated it on reddit – would take at least 2 years of mining daily to make your money back.
I’d love an ETA on this as well. Still enjoying wearing my flamekissed armor on my ele, but it kinda gives me anxiety not knowing when it’ll be changed :-/
Another pass from me too. None of these benefit me (perhaps if the ore nodes were rich nodes I’d reconsider because then it would be handy and guaranteed for daily gatherer on mules), the primer thing is useless for me, and the dyes aren’t that spectacular. Unlike some of the flame and frost ones which actually had a nice metallic, fiery look (pyre dye, for example).
0 gems. Why promote racism?
While we’re at it, there should be no gender discrimination either. We need moar skimpy male clothing :-P females have too much of it, men need it too.
I personally think there are quite a few overpriced gemstore items.
The new ore nodes package would take, like other players have calculated, over 2 years mining the ores daily, just to make their money back – is that really worth it? Not to me.
The dye packages are much the same. I’ve heard of people getting the 5 packs and just getting blue and green rarity dyes – now THAT would be disappointing. Too much RNG, no guaranteed reward. Bad.
Metabolic Primer – who would pay so much money for this thing? Really, not much benefit for its price. Just buy tons of the same food and learn to look at a clock every now and then to see when the foods timer has nearly run out – problem solved.
Mask of the wanderer skin – 500 gems for something you can barely see? I previewed this on my elementalist and it wouldn’t even show because of his hair, and even on other races of mine which hardly had any hair, it was barely noticeable for its price tag. Overpriced. Should be more like 200 gems – if that.
Most boosters costing 150 gems each – why bother when you can just farm black lion keys on mules, or obtain via other means? And swimming boosters for 75 gems? Really? 1) who spends a ton of time swimming? and 2) if you’re going to make it worth your while, make it a 33% faster speed MINIMUM. 15% is an absolute joke. For 75 gems too, I’d expect it to last for more than an hour.
Overpriced items like the above examples make me not want to buy them, but that’s fine with me :-P it means I can save my gems for something I will truly like and be something that is actually worth my while.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
What update do I expect to see in March, hmmmm… I would expect to see the new flamekissed armor skin be out by then – at least one would hope!
I can’t wait (even though I must) for the next update, but I must say I think the video was quite underwhelming – for me personally anyway.
I was disappointed in seeing the same sort of twisted nightmare creatures from other living stories which was quite odd because I would have thought Scarlet would be more inventive than that.
I give credit where it’s due though, and I can understand why the twisted nightmare creatures would make a return because it’s easy (rather than coming out with a whole bunch of new creatures to create) and pumping out massive updates every 2 weeks would have its toll.
Look forward to the rewards.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Maximum? 1200 gems. I think it’s fair.
@KarlusDavius.1024, I love that thread!
I hope the legendary dyes/dyeable weapons/skin locker suggestions all make it into the final draft. Those ideas are EPIC.
Edit: Nvm the dyes were mentioned at least
- QOL: More customization options regarding our armor and weapons. (Things that came up in this regard were: pattern dyes, texture options (other types of wood and different metal polishes), customizeable features like long sleeves vs short sleeves, emblem design.

After my case and how quickly it was rejected with a copy-paste answer, I’m never sending in a support ticket for something ever again. Players shouldn’t have to hold onto stuff that, on the off chance, may-or-may-not become account bound in the future.
Players like myself, that at the time needed to create a new alt and didn’t have enough gems to buy a new character slot, ended up resorting to deleting the character with the soulbound infinite gathering tools. A few months later Anet announced they’d become account bound for those who already purchased them. Lucky players, not so lucky us. Many sent in tickets hoping that the infinite gathering tools we rightfully purchased with our hard earnt money were quickly rejected with a copy-paste answer basically saying they won’t refund ‘deleted’ items, in turn, telling us it’s OUR fault. Well sorry but I’m not a psychic and I don’t have a crystal ball either. NOT my fault.
Also, I considered putting the soulbound infinite gathering tool into my bank BEFORE deleting the character, but I knew in my heart of hearts that even if I placed it in the bank and they somehow became account bound one day, I figured Anet would make it so that you have to turn those items into an NPC to make them account bound – and you can’t do that IF THE CHARACTER IS DELETED. And sure enough, I was right, it would have made no difference. I would have been at a loss anyway. Can’t win.
I’m not a fan of these new dyes tbh, in my own personal opinion I think they’re kinda fugly :-/ and with the ore nodes, even if you mine them daily, that’s 1095 copper, silver and gold each year. It’s not worth it to me, considering the price tag of 800 gems/60g. If they were perhaps rich ore nodes I’d reconsider. Would be good for daily gatherer if they were rich nodes.
Nothing for me to spend my gems on this update. Will wait for something that tickles my fancy.
I honestly wonder why a fellow named Nicholas isn’t wandering around collecting a stack of <insert “random” item> on a daily basis…
I miss Nicolas the Traveler. He’d give gifts every week for stuff nobody usually gathered and held onto And the potential of getting one of them epic vampiric dragon swords… :-P
Bring back Nicolas I say :-D
And just a reminder, Guild Wars 2 was advertised as having “everything you like about GW1”.
So let’s sum up everything I liked in GW1…
1) Getting max level in a few hours
2) Getting best in slot equipment in a few hours
3) 100s of skills to freely choose from
4) Dual-classing
5) Party-based content with heroes and henchmen
6) Being able to customize heroes with gear and skills
7) Title-based progression
8) Almost all monsters playing the game in an identical way the player would, using skills available to players and having similar HP pool as players
9) Much instance-based content so I can choose who I want to play with (or alone)
10) Repeatable storyline missions with secondary objectives
11) Awesome believable villains (eg Shiro being corrupted over time)
12) Hardcore story (Rurik gets banished by his father and almost everyone dies!)
13) Player-owned towns (factions) – could use improvement but idea is nice
14) Guild Halls
15) Hardcore skill-based PVP with deep tactics due to 3 and 4
16) Being able to burn through the gates and unlock everything very quickly, due to 1 – I finished Nightfall and EOTN in less than 2 days each, upon release, and was then free to access all the content in the regions to capture skills and farm and play dungeons and purchase armor etc. I hate content gates, levels and gearchecks in particular! And how much of that list does GW2 ultimately have? None with the exception of 2, as promised by Colin, which was then burned down as well with the introduction of ascended.
Which is a shame, as you only need to look at GW1 to see a lot of very clever mechanics that actually can be integrated into GW2 to make the game infinitely more fun. In particular, points 3, 4, 10, 13, 14 and 15.
Don’t forget dyeable weapons
There are so many things in GW1 that I wish were in GW2 :-(
Things like:
- Dyeable Weapons
- Being able to save/load/swap build templates at ease
- Hero party system (for those who would rather do things by themselves rather than in group scenarios)
- Signet of Capture/Skill hunting (for those epic skills. In particular, the Ray of Judgment elite)
- Vanquishing (nice rewards, and it was fun gathering bonus points for killing certain creatures)
- Capes (they went with my ritualist outfit amazingly well)
- Zaishan bounties
- The armor and weapons. Chaos gloves… Tormented Shield… Paragon armor… there were so many great outfits you could make in GW1 :-(
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
I’ve been playing since the 3 day pre-release. No precursors. No ascended weapon or armor chests.
I’m just unlucky I guess.
I did the same exact thing.
Submitted tickets + opened forum thread w/ a dev response.
They won’t help you.
I did the exact same thing.
Unfortunately ‘deleted’ items aren’t refunded. I guess we were supposed to have crystal balls as to when these items were going to become account bound and keep any characters with the tools on them, on the off chance their soulbound status was to ever change (which it eventually was). It’s sad that items you bought that gave you no other option at the time but to delete, won’t be replaced – but we have to move on.
….
Just forget I even made this thread. It seems all people want to do is flame me for dying, accuse me of being too lazy to teleport the split second I die without knowing the full story of the screenshot/s, or accuse me of something else. Good grief.
Just forget it then. Let this thread die and we can all enjoy our loot disappearing.
Well I think we shouldnt have the right to pick them up while we are dead. Imagine sm, zergs fight, I just aoe/hit them as many as I can, I don’t care if we will win or not. Then I kill myself. I guess I will have lots of loots. Don’t you think?
The whole point in WvW though is to kill as many players as possible. To my logic, you shouldn’t have to worry about picking up your loot at all, really – because your focus should be on annihilating the enemy teams, not picking up your rewards… (and don’t get me started on the fact that “auto loot” doesn’t actually live up to its name by automatically picking up your loot when it’s dropped and being placed in your inventory, because you still have to press a button – which isn’t very automatic if you ask me – just saying :-P).
Imagine sm, zergs fight, I just aoe/hit them as many as I can, I don’t care if we will win or not
That would be the ideal scenario actually. Not having to worry about picking up your loot at all so that you can focus on the battle, but here, I just want the ability to pick up any unclaimed loot when I’m dead. It would be great if Anet made it so that any unclaimed loot bags were automatically placed in a WvW locker or your inventory, but that’s not what I’m suggesting – it would be great, but I highly doubt THAT would ever happen. I just want the loot I rightfully earnt.
I really don’t understand why players don’t want their well deserved loot?
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
if you’re dead, do you really deserve a reward?
If you earnt a whole bunch of loot bags, do you really deserve to miss out on them just because you died in the split second when they all dropped?
I try to make you understand. Bare with me as English is not my 1st language.
If we have the option to collect loots when we are dead. Players will abuse this option.
The wvwvw play style will be different. Tell me why should I fight, I just can aoe a zerg as much/many as I can then suicide myself. Now all I need to do is wait. Wait to collect lots of loot while I’m dead.
It’s always been like that though – people just ‘tag’ players to get loot (guardians spamming staff #1 skill in zergs for example), and in my opinion I don’t feel that this has any relevance to the topic, but each to their own :-P All I’m suggesting is for us to be able to pick up loot that we rightfully earnt and deserve, when we’re dead. I’m not asking for anything extra or overpowered. If you were rewarded with loot, you should have the right to pick it up.
@DeadlySynz.3471, a collectibles tab for WvW that automatically stores any unclaimed loot that you missed out on? That would be awesome! Great idea.
