Hey Lolyta :-P I can definitely understand your frustration. I’ve had the same argggggh moments when I see something in game that I want on my character/s.
If there’s any consolation, I think the staff you speak of will make it into game eventually. GW2 Reddit found a chat code for Kasmeer’s staff, it’s:
[&AgF7vwAA]
I hope Kasmeer’s bikini and sandals become available for purchase, and for many other npc’s armor’s for that matter.
Hey guys, this thread is aimed at giving Anet some feedback on what people think the ascended armor should look like, before it’s released. I’m sure we’ve all seen them, but incase you haven’t, this is what their previews look like, in a video by SignsOfKelani:
Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I pretty much dislike all of the ascended armor. Each to their own though.
My idea of ascended armor, (and this will be different for everyone – so there is no right or wrong) is for them to be REALLY different and amazing. I’m talking animated effects, glowy bits, and just the detail and design of it that makes you do a double take when said person in ascended gear walks by. What kind of armor would do that for me? Well…
For the Mesmer, margonite-like armor from GW1. The purple bits would be transparent and slightly glowy as shown in this picture:
http://i43.tinypic.com/14djzmh.jpg
For the Necromancer, this dude. Not sure if he’s that ‘Dhuum’ character from GW1, he looks kind of different here, but nevertheless, his armor makes me do a double take:
http://i43.tinypic.com/107kyfk.jpg
And for the guardian in particular, I’d love to see some sort of transparent ghostly armor – armor that would match something like the foefire’s essence greatsword.
So, I ask you guys, what would YOUR idea of ascended armor be? Let’s give Anet some feedback as to what the final design could, or should, be
I’ve personally thought about this suggestion myself, so you definitely have my support on this. I hate how, despite having world completion, I literally have to do it all over again for my alts – this is frustrating because when some living stories require you to have a certain level or location unlocked, it’s that much more difficult to complete.
Heck, I didn’t even bother with the Tequatl living story because not only would levelling take me ages, but getting there and unlocking the waypoints again to make it easier was just too much for me. I don’t really care about missing out on the gifts of exploration and all the rewards, I just want world completion for my alts so I can get around with ease – I did it before on one character (before ultimately deleting him in the end because I was unhappy with his look), I shouldn’t have to do it multiple times.

I really like the boots of the trickster armour for my fire elementalist, but hellz-to-the-naw am I paying 800 gems just for those boots!
Great suggestion
It would be awesome to preview armour with a ‘night time’ option, so that we can see sylvari characters’ glow effects.
Anet could add the ‘lightbulb’ icon in the armour preview/hero equipment interface (the same icon used in total makeover kits).
This, if implemented, would come in very handy when deciding which dyes to use (as we currently have to guess how the dyes affect armour at night, or literally wait until the night!).
What do you guys think?

Can you please tell me where the news about tier 3 sylvari cultural armour getting glowy bits is? I have some on one of my characters and was really disheartened to find out they gave no glow :-( if it’s true, it’s about time I say!
I found it a pain having to fork out an extra few gold for an extra superior rune for my underwater helm so the bonuses worked underwater, but it isn’t one of the major problems for me personally. I find these more of an issue:
1) the fact you cannot dye them (I mean, it stands out like a sore thumb when the rest of my armour looks all coloured and awesome)
2) the fact there are hardly ANY skins for the underwater headgear
3) there aren’t rare/exotic/ascended versions for them (wtf!?)
4) we need more runes and sigils that deal greater damage underwater, or are specifically for underwater combat
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
And yes Michael Jackson’s thriller dance for the necro please
Lady Gaga’s ‘Applause’ sort of choreography, like how these people dance:
Yes I really don’t understand how some armour sets (like phoenix for example) look COMPLETELY different depending on gender, and I think it is unfair in that regard.
I also noticed in the thread ‘post your elementalist’ (or something along the lines of that), that I would say the majority of characters were roughly 90-95% female. I was struggling trying to find male elementalist outfits for me to gain some inspiration from! And I found that quite frustrating.
Why should people have to change genders to get a completely different look for their armour? It just makes NO sense!
I personally would also like to see more skin-revealing coats/tops/chests for male characters, especially in the ‘light’ professions. I see so many robe-like tops and it’s almost ridiculous – it is no wonder so many elementalists go female for better outfits. I’d like to see more tops that show some abs, like the ‘feathered’ top, or the ‘vigil’ garb for showing a bit of arm. That would be nice.
If I haven’t supported your thread already, I fully support a race change option from the gem store.
I’d be willing to pay 1200-1800 gems for it. Also, I don’t care about a race change reseting my storyline if that is Anet’s only problem with implementing it – it sure beats re-rolling a character with ascended gear and all that!
Thanks CC Danicia and Regina Buenaobra in particular, I didn’t really want to come back to the thread after being blamed by some players for whatever reason but seeing some replies by Anet has given me reassurance something might change
Yes my main problem is that the ignore system only blocks some forms of chat. I feel it needs to block all forms of communication – including /map and /team chat in particular, as in World vs World, you can still see some forms of communication despite that player being blocked. I’m not sure if there are other chat channels which allow you to still see that player’s chat, but those two are the main ones that affected me, because I needed to see our commander’s chat whilst at the same time not getting abuse.
Basically the list of what StinVec.3621 suggests blocking, +1
Edit: I like what Chobiko suggests below as well. Perhaps an option to ‘kittenize’ a list of words so that we don’t have to see them? That would be pretty handy.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
I would love to see a signet where the passive effect is for vitality. We see signets for toughness, healing, power, precision etc. but it would be cool to have one for more health – especially elementalists.
Work for Anet. PLEASE. I love the design.
I personally am not much of a legendary greatsword fan (simply because I find the fact you cannot dye weapons is criminal in itself), but your design could make me reconsider.
I’m not too sure about reverting ascended stats back to exotic, considering how much effort, grind and money is required into getting ascended gear, but I certainly agree with the suggestion that ascended gear should have stat-swapping abilities just like legendaries.
I too would like animated dyes. They could be exotic rarity also – to distinguish them amongst other dyes.
Personally, I would love some sort of glowing dye – similar to the effects of radiant gloves/helm/mantle (or even chaos gloves in GW1), as well as a transparent/ghostly dye and a pulsating lava-like dye, similar to the effects of the hellfire gloves/helm/mantle. I believe they’d be extremely popular.
@Mahaedros, thanks, yes I’m in an LGBT-friendly guild right now, as previous guilds I planned on joining were throwing homophobic slurs in every sentence it seemed, and I couldn’t face that. I agree that gaming should be a place to relax and not have to constantly think about a small part of who you are, or degrading remarks aimed at, and intended on hurting someone or a group of people.
@Wolfheart, I’m sorry you experienced racism in GW2 :-( it shouldn’t be like this, especially in 2013. I would like to have hoped society has changed, but clearly it hasn’t.
@Teege, thanks, yeah I think the /team one still being visible despite ignoring a player is a biggie, especially in WvW.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Hmmm it may have changed since that last incident then, if that’s the case then that’s awesome. I hope it’s true. In regards to still seeing player’s comments in guild chat channels, that should change too I reckon.
When I think of the word ‘ignore’, I expect it to truly mean ‘ignore’, not ‘ignore sometimes’. Anet please change this.
After a long time pondering whether to untick all the chat options in GW2 to literally become a mute and not see anyone’s comments anymore, I have finally done it – because I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough of hearing all the homophobic remarks online (And to be frank, I get enough of it in real life… I certainly don’t need it in a game as well).
Why should I have to constantly hear comments like ’that’s so gay’ and see players use the word ‘gay’ in such a demeaning, derogatory way? I remember when this word used to mean happy. But nowadays, society just accepts it as meaning ‘strange’, ‘weird’, or ‘wrong’. I don’t care if people see me as the latter, I just expect you to either 1) keep those comments to yourself or 2) at least allow me to fully block a player so I can get on with my gaming.
This brings me to my next point. A while back I tried putting a homophobic player on my ignore list (because I know that reporting him would have done absolutely nothing), however, his messages of hate still showed in the /map and /team chat channels. This was a huge dilemma for me because I WvW a lot, and I require those channels to see what the commander is telling us to do.
Now, a large part of why I play GW2 is to get away from real life. From all the hate, and from all the homophobia. It is my escape. I am so frustrated though because no one seems to care about how these hurtful comments damage people like myself. People even defend homophobes and their comments with things like ’it’s just a game, get over it’ or ’it’s just words’. Really? Have they even walked a mile in a gay man’s shoes? Have they experienced pure hatred and patronising comments for something they cannot change, on a daily basis? I highly doubt it.
Furthermore, no one from Anet seems to care about dealing with homophobia OR the ignore system (I give them a lot of credit for the rainbow themed weapons though – that’s really awesome!), especially when I pleaded for them a few months ago to change the ignore system to REALLY mean that it fully ignores a player’s comments (including map and team chat).
I know what you’re thinking, and you’re right, I can’t look into a crystal ball and predict any future homophobic remarks (but if you will step into my shoes for a moment and imagine hearing remarks on a daily basis that you’re not worthy of living, that God hates you, or that you’re weird/strange/wrong, it’s kind of hard to simply brush these comments off) – I’m not a mind reader either. What I do expect, however, is that when I do see comments that hurt me, I can put those players on my ignore list, knowing full well that they are dealt with – but even that isn’t possible, because ignoring a player doesn’t fully ignore their comments in all channels. At least, nothing has changed since that incident as far as I know.
I don’t want anyone’s sympathy, I just want change to the ignore system so that one day, perhaps I can tick all the chat boxes again, and most importantly, be able to listen to the commanders in WvW again, and know that when homophobia pops its ugly head again (because it’s not IF, it’s WHEN), I can ignore that player and their comments completely.
Till then, I refuse to have any chat boxes ticked, and I will have to remain offline/invisible until the ignore system is dealt with. Yes it hinders my game play, but it is the only way I can stay sane – it’s either that or being bombarded with homophobia everyday that I cannot ignore (not through a lack of trying either).
Yours sincerely,
frustrated player

Yeah lol when I got the WvW achievement chests it was the epitome of an anti-climax when I opened them. Blues and greens? Seriously? I can get that from a few player kills… YAWN
WvW rank chests aren’t much better either, I mean yeah they have a decent amount of silver as a reward, but after 312 ranks in WvW, I still haven’t received any ascended weapon chest or anything remotely valuable. I’d like to know what the true chance of getting ascended gear from WvW rank chests is, because it’s definitely higher than a 1 in 312 chance >_< A.K.A zero chance.
I personally would have bought the Mad King’s Outfit from the gemstore if it weren’t for it being strictly for town clothes >_< some of those robes would really suit my fire elementalist.
#missedpotentialgemstorepurchase
Yes please. I’m sick of constantly picking up banners when trying to pick up my loot in a zerg vs. zerg fight. REALLY frustrating. Not only that but then people blame me – it’s like, I’m just trying to get my loot for frogs sake, don’t blame me!
+1’ed
Not yet, but we have a plan and, barring a setback, it will be in before the end of the year. Keep in mind, the solution we are rolling out is just a general solution to make it feasible to make them without running fractals, not necessarily a WvW focused solution.
Yay thank goodness, because I absolutely HATE fractals with a passion. WvW on the other hand, I can do
@Frostfang, I LOVE that mask, looks quite Egyptian. Reminds me of the horus-like characters from the stargate sg1 movie
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Update of the drawing. Going slowly lol
That’s so awesome looking! Quite machine-like and fitting for the charr. I want it in game now lol
This just gets weirder and weirder. My Dawn of the Season achievement is now highlighted in red, as if completed, but it still doesn’t add to the 15 achievements I need to complete the meta achievement (and not sure if it gave achievement points for unlocking it, I think it was 5 earlier, but now says 0).
As you can see in the screenshots below, I have 14 achieved so far, yet it only says 13/15?
Awesome thanks so much!
Is the twilight aetherblade path permanent? I ask this as I really want some of the new twilight weapons but being as they’re low in supply I was wondering if I might have to fork up the gold to get the weapons I want before it’s gone, or whether it’s staying and I can afford to wait
Many thanks in advance!
Any ETA on a fix for this? Achievement still locked for me :-/
Still not fixed >_<
Bump… #15 characters
Support. I’d pay 1200-1800 gems for a race change, and I couldn’t care less if my personal story was reset. I only WvW anyway. Major support from me.
I can do the other achievements, but like myself and others seem to be having problems with, the ‘Dawn of the Season’ achievement still isn’t working/unlocked. Here’s a pic:
I really want this in game :-( it’s unfair other armours get glowy bits and light doesn’t. It’s racist.
“more survivability”
This. +1.
My elementalist, albeit a berserker staff ele, simply can’t go to the higher level areas and survive in pve content because his armour, despite being full exotic, is still paper-thin. I even tried going full toughness, along with the signet which increases toughness – and it still didn’t seem to make any difference, so I ended up going back to full berserker gear + stats.
I think the main thing elementalists definitely lack is survivability. Like another player has said, you literally get 2 hit ko’ed by thieves (REALLY annoying – not to mention by the time you realize you’re being ninja’d and try to press any skills, you’re already downed), or 2 hit by siege. It’s ridiculous.
I hope there will be buffs for the staff, because everyone always tells me to go dagger/dagger as it seems to be the trend for an elementalist. I tried it and hated it though, it’s not for me and my kind of play style, yet everyone else seems to like it?
While I’m on the topic, it’s almost like you’re ‘forced’ into playing a certain build with a particular weapon set depending on your profession, just to be good all round, and I don’t like that. I want to use staff, not daggers! I’m more of a ’I’ll hit you from a distance and deal AOE damage’ guy, thank you very much!
I haven’t even bothered with this living story because:
1) I don’t have access to the place Tequatl is located at, and furthermore requires a specific level to not only survive in that area, but to do that content.
and 2) I don’t really like the weapon skins. I like some of the shadowy animations, but since we can’t dye our weapons, to me it’s pointless because then I have to match the weapon with my armour (which CAN be dyed). So annoying…
I’d love to have the Ritualist and/or Dervish make a return, or perhaps a new profession like a ‘Jumper’, which manipulates time, has a main trait line which reduces the recharge time of skills (or cast time), and uses movement to escape enemies. Sort of like a Mesmer/thief combination.
Yes please!
And while they’re at it, a ‘light’, ‘medium’, and ‘heavy’ option when searching for armours.
I want account wide World Ability Points.
Say you have achieved 200 world ability points, each character you have at that moment would have 200 points to spend, but each character could spend them in different ways.
For example, an elementalist could spend 115 points and go for the max guard killer rank (and have 85 world ability points leftover), and your guardian could go for max flame ram mastery and defense against guards rank (with 10 world ability points left to spend).
I would like to see:
Race change pack for 1200-1800 gems.
As much as I like my main elementalist, I think he’d look better as a sylvari, and there’s no way I’m re-rolling another char because he has too many ascended items for me to try and get again.
GW1 weapon and armour skins as permanent gem store purchases, such as the chaos axe, chaos gloves, tormented weapons, and voltaic spear, to name a few. I know there’s a voltaic spear look-a-like called al’ir’aska, or something, but it can’t be dyed, and it doesn’t have the animation that the voltaic spear in GW1 had.
Exotic dyes
ALL exotic dyes would have animations and effects, none of them would be just plain, boring colours. There could be an animation that the ‘coldsnap’ sceptre in GW2 has, or the electric current sort of animation that the ‘voltaic spear’ in GW1 had. There could be a glow dye that pulsates like the sylvari race, or one that always stays glowing, like the ‘chaos gloves’ in GW1.
Dyeable weapons
We NEED dyeable weapons. If there was one thing in GW2 I could have, it would be this.
I forgot. Last but not least, I’d like some sort of ‘morphing crystal’ which combines the appearance of any weapon with another weapon of a different type. I’m sure people would want to have the ‘volcanus’ greatsword weapon as a staff on an elementalist for example, being as you can summon the ‘fiery greatsword’.
I myself, would love to be able to morph (when I can afford to buy this weapon anyway lol) the ‘belladonna of dreams’ greatsword so I could use it as a staff for my elementalist.
The morphing crystals could be purchased for around 400 gems each, or 5 for 1800. Expensive I know, but well worth it for those who want more customisation features like myself.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
Yeah we definitely need a +25% movement speed/passive effect sort of signet or something for all professions. A major reason why I don’t play other professions like Mesmer for example, is that I constantly have to put up that line skill which speeds my movement. Why should I have to worry about things like that? Life is too short.
Also as was mentioned, even a +33% movement speed isn’t noticeable when you’re in combat because you literally feel like you’ve been frozen by a cannon blast or going about as slow as a turtle – NOT FUN.
I think it would be awesome to have an AOE elite skill for sylvari. Perhaps one that tangles multiple foes
How come the medium and heavy armours get glowy bits on the armour (not sure about medium as I haven’t seen it but apparently it does from what I heard), but light armour doesn’t? Is it just me or is this a bit bias?
When I kill enemies in WvW I want to kill them in style. I want them to know that, win or lose, I look AWESOME ;-) but this isn’t possible because medium and heavy cultural sylvari armours get all the glory and light armour doesn’t.
Is this going to change anytime soon? Because I think it’s really unfair, and I don’t think I’m the only one.
(edited by Zaoda.1653)
I tried multiple times combining aether keys, the first time I tried it on my alt, which was a low level Mesmer in wvw at the time. It didn’t work, so I figured maybe I had to be level 80, so I hopped onto my elementalist, that didn’t work either. I figured then maybe it was because I was in wvw (because oddly enough the infinite watchknight tonic can’t be used in wvw so I applied that logic to this problem), that too didn’t work.
So I’ve now wasted 15 aether key pieces, not very much to buy them, but still very frustrating and going without an achievement point.
Also please fix the blueprints in wvw, already lost a few blueprints because I couldn’t pick them up for some weird reason? So many bugs
Thanks
Edit: Added screenshot for proof
Major support from me. Should have been like this from day one. Also needs a WvW rank reset option – I’d pay gems for that.
I’m going to be away for 3 weeks so not only will I miss out on SAB completely, but also the flame and frost dyes coming back to the gem store temporarily, but that isn’t going to stop Anet so highly unlikely they’ll change it for another player :-/
Completely agree, same with WvW ranks being account based (although that’s for another thread!).
+1
That would be kinda cool, as long as it’s purely cosmetic.
I think first though anet should fix minipets in general, so whenever you waypoint or go underwater they don’t disappear. It’s the #1 reason why I don’t bother having my minipet out (as much as I’d love to) – because in WvW especially, it disappears as fast as I can say ‘hey were did my mini go?’. It makes me a sad panda.
