As a WvWer, ANet, I thank you greatly for adding this change. I’m very happy to know I can work towards legendary armor pieces via WvW now.
Probably because blood rubies are a pain to obtain as opposed to winterberries where you can literally get a ring, earring and backpack within a couple hours from berry farming on alts.
I support this.
Build templates and my life will be complete~
It will be:
- Reverted DBL to HoT launch stage complete with oasis event
- Catapults now cost 80 supply to make
- Reduced number of Proofs of Heroics from 2-10 to 1-3
- Rangers are the only profession allowed into WvW
- Build templates have been added to the game. Speak to Legendary Commander War Razor to purchase this account unlock for 1000 gold and 1000 Skirmish Tickets or unlock it via the gem store for the low + affordable price of 9000 gems
- Downed state has been removed from WvW
- No white swords and GOLEM WEEK has returned to WvW for the duration of 1 week
- A new home instance cat has been added into WvW. Feed it the salty tears of your enemy to obtain it.
All jokes aside, gimme build templates, profession balance, uses for excess world ability points, population balance (far fetched..) and rid us of the server lag. One can wish…
Gratz OP. 11 weeks away… I regret using my tournie ticks haha.
Dunno man. As it currently stands I’m more or less neutral WvW even gets glanced at these days.
I imagine any update WvW receives will be shipped alongside whatever new PvE/PvP content is ready and not necessarily tied to xpac launch, however, it would be nice to have a feature pack developed in terms of WvW class separate balance to name just a teardrop of the many wishful thoughts…
Right now I’m bored of the stale meta. HoT classes shaked things up a bit but the pot’s been boiling for too long now. Would love to see new skills/traits added for support roles or even rework of lesser used skills.
I personally don’t find the mobs difficult – they’re just seemingly everywhere. Griffon + doge chill spam, that one BS move the vet trolls pull where it leaves you CCd and NOTHING can stunbreak you out of it, getting turned into a block of ice from 1k+ range away while gliding but sadly plummeting to the ground even though you just stealthed. And that one annoying drake that has to follow you over the ravine and smack your behind while you’re trying to node the berry bushes.
I only go there for the berry farm when I need to and I must admit… since they killed off the necro farm shenanigans the mobs are on you 24/7. I especially ‘love’ the aggro range of the doges when they’ll chase you for what seems like miles and just when you think they’ll go no further they apply their infamous leap chill only to stop and walk off like nothing happened leaving you in combat which is slow AF.
Despite the increased ticket cost for the new Abaddon skins from the norm, I found their designs tasteful considering I’ve actually been wanting a decent black/red weapon skin theme. Props to Chelsea for making these designs.
While I’m not a fan of the glider per-say, I do look forward to the recently datamined Abaddon helm skin… I have my doubts though regarding it’s implementation and something tells me it’s going to either be in the gem store or locked behind RNG BLCs.
My pov I interpret OP’s post as “literally the PvP system” where it’s basically amulet + traits, weapons…
- Do I get a refund for my many sets of WvW infusions that costed me many laurels to obtain?
- Do I get a refund of thousands of gold, mats etc for crafting my maxed out gear for WvW?
- Do I even get a build template when I switch to this system in WvW?
Like how would this fix anything? Then people will complain about “X amulet is too OP, NERF IT!” People will still run the same, monotonous OP meta builds as is now.
I think what needs to happen is a sharp examination of traits and make the next x-pac elite specs + core specs relevant for WvW gameplay be it zerging, roaming, GvG, small-scale havoc, scouting, 1v1 etc. I remember reading a decent thread that suggested secondary roles or something as an additonal feature in WvW. Like being an assaulter gave you X kit/skill/benefit against X in combat or whatever. I believe more in freedom of choice than being constrained to what PvP’s system is built upon.
I disagree with a lot of your points.
- Smaller maps/requirement # people to play might not work in certain timezones
- Zerging is fun for some players, especially those who love blob fights
- Map closing prompt is never a welcome notification for a team that wishes to stay in that particular map
The only point I relatively agree with is that WvW would be nice to have a new map/reskin.. but not like DBL frustration again. A map that actually has strategic objectives.
Wow lol for the first time in roughly 3-4 years I came across an EB games that sold $20 Gw2 gem cards about 1 month ago. Every other time I went to EB Games/Game Traders Kmart, Target etc they either don’t have them or “aren’t stocking them in anymore”.
I was so happy to be able to pick up 5 of them because in-game would’ve costed me ~$140 AUD.
I am ready for the bag of salt to be poured upon my head amongst the wrath of hatred from the nay-sayers but…
…I really don’t like auras. It’s distasteful. Cringy to a point where I believe whoever spawns these ideas of auras must have the mind of a 3 year old, “COOL stuff MUST be GLOWY and SPARKLES!” with the, as you stated, current ‘trend’ with MMOs.
While some players manage to make a theme work with one or two infusions it starts to get really visual clutter when you see the biggest Norn waltz by with his Moots out and mega chunky extra T H I C C wings backpack and lord knows what else amongst the unwavering assault of every-possible-aura-infusion he’s clad in.
If I could have an option, ONE option above all else to choose from it would be a toggle to disable auras.
TLDR: Don’t like auras. If game wants to release more, keep them behind content like collections, raids, achieves and release option to toggle auras on/off…
Mainly WvW player here… I hope the expansion incorporates positive features that improve that game mode.
While I appreciate the rewards overhaul furthermore SOME changes to ‘scoring’ I cannot help but feel the game mode being quite stale in terms of the current meta; class balance, roles and the lack of new skills/traits that tie in and interact with what the game mode has to offer. Would like to see even minor things like new runes that interact with siege e.g; apply a stack of stability when hit by a cata/treb shot or what not. Would be helpful for those manning siege. Idk… even excess world ability points being so redundant.
I’m mainly hoping that each profession gets viable builds in many aspects; power, condi, support roles and what not.
Lots more to say but I’m at work so keepin it short.
I spent a tedious 20 mins or so on the first ‘puzzle’ with 1 beam always lit up which was super annoying… I solved it by guessing. Definitely not the brains here. Didn’t enjoy the second one either but that’s just my opinion.
Not a fan of the 2 ticket price this time. Sure, bamf skins but I only ever remember Fused skins being more than 1 ticket a piece when they made a return or what not..
I still solo roam mostly because I don’t have anyone else to roam with. I like my space, too.
I often play a lot of gimmick builds like gunflame warri, burn guard and the occasional full boon duration power mesmer. A lot of people don’t expect it and I find it amusing…. until I get overwhelmed by gank squads of 6+ who relentlessly chase you down and eventually rule the map’s outlier objectives such as camps/paper towers etc.. These groups usually consist of a healbot ele, cancer condi + power thieves/mesmers and the obligatory meta druid builds that are bruiser/bunker. I resort to playing faceroll condi evade spam thief just to have that option of escape otherwise goodluck trying to get away from them on a mediguard or what not.
TLDR: unless you playing the same cancer builds good luck trying to “roam” when there’s 6+ gank squad “roamers” out there.
- Recent WvW update (rewards, pips, tickets etc so population is mostly playing there)
- No pips rewarded in EoTM
- You are better off just bringing an 80 into WvW/EoTM because WvW levels = tomes which can be used on alts plus you no longer get regular XP
Hope that answers your thoughts/questions.
Might see people ‘return’ in a couple months after farming but truth be told they did good with separating rewards so it actually keeps blood in real WvW.
Multiple menus? I literally click F11 (default B for others) and it’s legit right there. I think it’s fine the way it is. Takes one second to check. While I appreciate your suggestion I don’t think it would bode well in terms of there being more screen clutter…
All in favor of bringing back UFO raptor as a WvW minipet say I or forever hold your peace.
https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/218175/RIP_UFO_Raptor.jpg
Signature checks in.
OP I suggest if such immense amount of dissatisfaction with this game upon your shoulders why not leave it entirely and play another MMO that better suits your desire for rewards in adequate proportions?
The unwavering amount of negative energy surrounding the plethora of your posts has me concerned. Perhaps take time off, outside is nice. There is sunlight outside I’m sure it will cheer you up a bit.
Dear ANet,
Title. Is this possible?
Does anyone else want one? I really love my Kodan one so far.
Thanks in advance.
State of the Game Update —Q1 2016
Rallying and Reviving in World vs. World
The number of players than can rally off a single kill in WvW will be reduced from 5 to 1. This change was made to give smaller groups more of a fighting chance against larger groups and to make WvW combat have less sudden power swings in general.
Along with rallying, we’ll also be making changes to reviving in WvW. Players will no longer be able to revive defeated players while in combat. They will still be able to revive downed players. This change was made to lower the staying power of large groups. If a player is eliminated from the fight, they stay eliminated until either the fight concludes or the player uses a waypoint and runs back.

If you want WvW rewards you should play the corresponding game mode that entails such rewards which is WvW.
Really smooth layout, enjoying the fluidity of it and I highly appreciate dual rows instead of the singular one before where it took forever to scroll down to the bottom.
I have one request though – is it possible to have the “redeem code” button touched up akin to the “Buy Gems” button? It seems a bit left out below it. Maybe a nice golden box or something. That is all.
Otherwise, excellent job!
My guess is they’ve saving it for either expansion #2 launch or two-three weeks thereafter to keep some form of content churning into the game. It’s probably easier for them to implement new colors for features instead of new models regarding hairstyles/faces. It’s what’s been happening as of late. Would really welcome some new faces + hairstyles and where’s mah darn white + black hair accessory colors already? ahhhhh.
Can we please have suggestions that improve WvW and not deter people from it? This is just silly and locks people out of having fun. It’s already a penalty enough having to run back, repair armor and knowing your enemy just bested you.
This is a definite no on this subject.
Meh I play WvW for fun/fights. Rewards are a bonus. Tickets are just like any other currency in the game – play the game mode you genuinely enjoy for the mechanics/community/gameplay and you’ll eventually accumulate that currency.
I say farewell to the fairweathers/casuals/non-dedicated-WvWers who expect/demand shinies handed to them on a silver platter within a month’s worth of gameplay.
Sure, I agree with other players that the current system regarding lower ranked players having to work harder/longer for pips is a bit straining and there should be tweaks made to reward more for solo/small-scale play in that regard, especially for lower population tiers/servers. Dunno I’m no expert at balance but I’ve noticed it since the update yet I am still adamant in my belief the update catered more towards… dedicated WvW vets.
Yeah.. harsh opinion. Life ain’t sunshine and rainbows I guess.
I think it’s fine.
Sometimes it’s nice to have something without glow/aura/sparkle/lookatmeinyourface kind of skins.. besides… this particular item is just the case for the glider and I am inclined to believe it’s supposed to be wingless hence you’re on the ground with it and not in the air?
I do not like the current system. I would much prefer at least there being an alternate color for players in your sub-squad regarding both the player dot on the minimap as well as their nameplate.
Things that come to mind having a purpose for this are boons, positioning and healing… unfortunately I am still wishing for an option to “view all ally player healthbars”. Sigh. Maybe one day.
It might not be possible due to technical limitations.
I think having a pool of pre-selected colors, akin to the seemingly ever-additional colors we have now, quite satisfactory as it is.
Some people like the classic, lore-friendly and/or basic look. It may give the player a more immersive vibe, for they may not like a backpack that is full on flashy out of this world sparkle wings as the gemstore of the past year has been pumping out.
Not everything has to be megatron sparkly these days.
Just tested this, would you like me to upload a video for comparison between regular vs Superspeed buff?
It’s hilarious this still works since I remember a friend showing me on their rev. ZOOOOOOOOOOM! SO FAST.
Probably would’ve got that loot if you were in position, if you were doing your job, if you were geared in offensive stats other than nomads so that you can actually have a chance to defeat your enemies.
I think the current system is fine. You die you don’t get your loot or, waypoint and potentially get your loot via allies having killed what you tagged.
It’s not like everyone and their mum’s brown dog is suddenly going to whack on full PVT or nomads in zergs just for a few loot bags.
Think about it – you die. Who what when where why how even is able to loot for you when you’re dead? Certainly not you. You’re dead. Wouldn’t make sense otherwise.
If you’re in WvW for loot you’re in the wrong place my friend – PvE is that way.
Longer hairstyles would be welcome but I’d imagine it’s due to their small stature regarding potential clipping; running animations etc.
I’m content with how the newer maps offer their currencies for asc trinket acquisition, ASIDE from BSF due to it not being farmable in any other form once done. You’re stuck with doing reward tracks thereafter albeit the trinkets themselves are stat-swappable so perhaps the grind was intentional…
NOTES (assuming boosters, buffs, banners etc):
- Bloodstone Fen (Blood Rubies) farmable once on a toon per day. Average yeild = anywhere from 4-11+ Blood Rubies. Absolutely painful. These trinkets are the only ones so far that you can stat-swap for 100 Unbound Magic which makes them highly desirable but grindy. Do it once a day if you’re determined but I’ve been sticking to reward tracks which give 50 at the end. Do the dailies for Blood Rubies.
- Lake Doric (Jade Shards) farmable up to 50 nodes on account per day. Average yield = 19-22 Jade Shards. Would recommend for relatively easy amulet to obtain.
- Ember Bay (Petrified Wood) heart quests are farmable per toon. There are 5 heart quests. Each vendor offers a bundle of (3) Petrified Wood. One of the heart quests is, personally, too much of a hassle (mursaat fortress) therefore I only do 4 quests = 12 Petrified Wood (does not include gathering from nodes since they seem to be similar to Bloodstone Fen but if done once it’s around 25 Petrified Wood in total initially then you’re forced to simply do heart quests for the wood).
Bitterfrost Frontier (Fresh Winterberries) farmable per toon per day. Use as many toons as you desire for maximum yield. Average yield = 44-54+ Fresh Winterberries. By far the easiest + fastest way to acquire Unbound Magic (if you have abundant toons) since you can consume the winterberries and farming the nodes grants UM. Undergoing this method you will have your asc trinkets from BFF map very fast.
I’ve chucked up a few farm route guides on my channel if you are having trouble finding an easy route to take regarding map currency like Winterberries. Here’s an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NKohn6t83o
Hope that helps.
Here are some memorable bugs in the past:
BUG #1: Couple years ago in PvE I was spam-clicking on a Box of Fun and it somehow bugged out in that my whole character when having weapons unsheathed/combat ready mode would be completely semi-transparent akin to when an ally thief stealths but you can still see their 3D model. I had the legendary pistol and shield equipped which means that all those particle effects including the skins rendered as this semi-transparent swath of checkered boxes floating all over the place. It was crazy…
…Now, here’s the monumentally messed up part. Logging out, dying on my own accord be it from NPCs or jumping to my death, way-pointing, using a tonic, environmental objects, switching instances or simply ENTERING PvP/WvW didn’t fix the issue. I was stuck like that on my engi for almost 2 days. In that time I went into WvW and asked a few enemies if they could see me, a lot said they could only see my nameplate at a distance and laughed when I unsheathed weapons because of all the messed up checkered boxes everywhere.
It FINALLY went away when I threw myself into a massive zerg fight and got CC’d/thrown around a lot eventually dying.
Funny thing is I managed to replicate the bug only once after that initial shenanigan.
BUG #2: Golem week. Yepp ladies. That awful week where the most obnoxiously OP bugs existed and whole guilds were abusing it… when regular players could obtain the golem buff outside of it and do insane amounts of damage. Not only that but the golem duplicate bug where I think 2 people try to enter it but instead the system is like kitten it and makes 2 golems out of 1. Let’s not forget the grand finale – being able to pick up anywhere around 45+ supply. Lord knows how that one worked but when I was in a golem, exited then picked up supply I suddenly had a total of 40+ while I can’t remember the exact number I definitely remember solo building that cata in one sitting.
BUG #3: So this one time in band camp… which happened recently, a few months ago – we were about to engage an enemy zerg in EBG north SMC. I was running with the frontline almost on top of the commander and all of a sudden my character fell through the terrain for zero reason and died. THE END. Great story right? I know. Majestic.
BUG #4 HoT release date or around thereafter. One skill girlscouts – Gunflame. And boy was it bugged as hell hitting TWICE which is basically 1HKO RIP, sonny jim.

I think they meant this regarding ‘pip farming’ outnumbered buff being too OP as it currently stands; unhealthy for the game mode.
1. Being able to ninja towers/havoc squads. Now you can’t due to watchtower on everything…
2. Hiding in keeps as a mesmer
3. Old stability
4. Hammertrain/hammerstuns/bannering lords/everything WARRIOR!
5. Pre “lines” nerf which is now limited to 10 players… RIP fearing whole zergs off cliffs etc
6. Less condition + boon spam
Stack all the things!
• Birthday/Celebration booster (100% WvW XP)
• 50% XP Booster (WvW XP too)
• Guild Hall buff maxed (10% WvW XP)
Optional:
• DISCONTINUED/OLDSCHOOL 50% WvW XP Booster (one 15 min one rewarded to levelling up a new toon, probably only vets still have these left from gemstore)
• Outnumbered buff (25% WvW XP)
• Guild Objective Aura II+ (25% WvW XP)
If only they brought back the old school WvW boosters for sale or as in game rewards then rookies would have an easier time gaining ranks. That and I’d like to see the following implemented:
• WvW XP Enrichment Infusion
The trick is to make them chase you and land your condi burst on them then cease attacking when they least expect it since they rely on traited condi removal of evade spam.
That or pray to god you can time your power bursts/CC them when their evade frame ends but standing still LETTING them vomit their condi’s on you is obviously gonna get you killed…

Sorry, this thread has really gone places since my last comment in here.
With all due respect, (I’m not going to read through every swathe of comments so I’m not sure if you already have tried TS) has the following scenario ever occurred to you that you had been in TS one day – were you ever kicked from that commander’s squad since that requirement alone is all that was requested? Putting myself in your shoes reaching that far the only issue one may have would be someone pursuing you regarding a specific question e.g; “Want stab 1 or 2?” and even then, it’d make sense for that pursuer to relay the question via typing in-game thus making your position in squad locked in.
If not I beg to probe, what harm would it be other than having a program running in the background (TS/discord etc), admittedly uselessly due to aforementioned disability(s), so, to you?
I understand your desire to play the game as advertised (not requiring TS), unfortunately I have nothing useful to suggest otherwise to improve upon that since the trend/advance in outlier programs has led players to band together via these very voice chat programs that exist and of course – it’s not feasible to revert back to the launch days of text-based gameplay “typemanders”.
I never asked for a typemander. I cannot access TS for 3 reasons, one of which is that TS is a humiliating experience for the deaf. TS is ok, mandatory TS is not cool.
Having sifted through various comments of yours, not all, I felt the gist that you wanted to “play the game how it was advertised”; 4-5 years ago hence on launch many players engaging in text-based gameplay/typemanding was at large. Sorry if that was not clear enough or if I interpreted that incorrectly.
I have tried to understand your situation and retain empathy yet one comment in particular confuses me – “the deaf” as in yourself alone or are you speaking for every deaf player that’s tried TS? I cannot help but feel like your answer is hogwash in terms of “humiliating experience” akin to lacking resilience in one’s self and moving on – to drop one section of communication entirely due to one “humiliating experience” in my eyes shouldn’t be something that deters you but strengthens you as an individual and learning new ways to tackle issues. Not only this but your 2 other reasons are absent therefore I have little to work with in terms of a response.
I am adamant in my belief that a requirement of “get in TS” via commander’s orders is all that is requested of an individual and that that alone is all that needs to be done in order to retain a position within a squad regardless whether or not that individual has a disability(s)…
…To put it bluntly but with all due respect; to simply join TS and be present, not needing to speak and/or listen to what’s going in within should still qualify as retaining a position within the squad.
TS is only mandatory if a commander advertises/requests/demands as such and you wish to be part of that commander’s squad. I am sorry if you continue to regard that as uncool but that is one of many walks in life you’ll come across.
Woohoo another one of these threads.
I’ll just quote myself from a similar thread…
These classes/builds are as follows for PARTIES within a squad:
1. Guard (commander)
2. AH Guard (stab 2)
3. Mallyx Rev/Healbot Rev etc
4. Aurashare Tempest/healbot etc
5. Necro (traditional wells, condi, boon corrupts)
6. Mesmer (veils, portals, boonshare)I would argue Warrior could be in there especially for Battle Standard Elite skill but they are quite uncommon/considered oldschool and/or used in organised GvG.
Then you have Thieves, Rangers and Engineers which are great at 1v1, SMALL scale fights, great gank squads/commander focus yet that kind of focus is frowned upon.
Venomshare Thief could be a thing but once again due to pirate ship meta it was extremely frowned upon/cheesy. Healer Druid was/is a thing in some ORGANISED guild fights and power Engineer is all that I know of for frontline hammer offense. You don’t see them and commanders don’t often welcome these classes because others fit the role better.Want a healer? Tempest/Ventari rev is more reliable. AoE DPS? Hammer Rev/Necro/Guardian. Ranger’s LB #5 is literally nothing compared to a DH’s babygates which at least provide crowd control.
Until ANet makes new elite specs or revitalizes some old skills to cater towards group/support role play in WvW Thieves/Rangers/Engineers will more often than not be kicked from squads when nearing full to make room for other classes who simply do the job ten fold better.
Hope this makes sense.
TLDR: roll guardian and everyone will love you forever.
Aww.. I liked being able to frolick from berry node to the next without being dogpiled by a million chill stacks from mobs.
Guess I’ll check it out later to see if it’s really any different.

Revert AC buffs/nerf AC damage or change burn on block traits/runes etc to only work on players. Pick one ladies.
Sly already linked the statement ANet made on this subject.
I stand by what their statement is – it’s not part of the Mist War therefore no pips should be given in EOTM. WvW rewards are for people who play WvW, not a ‘waiting lobby testing ground’ sandpit map with PvE uplevels rolling around all over it.
Rank means nothing in terms of skill. It may mean, to some – that you’ve been at the game mode for a good while though. (inb4 all the babyragers QQ about eotm rank/karma farm yes I’m aware but who can tell between eotm/WvW ranks earned anyway)
Tbh I don’t really mind if they do, as long as it’s toggle-able and not mega screen clutter.
They can never find a happy medium.
First reigned power for years and people QQ’d they wanted condi buffed. They went and buffed condi and now people QQ it’s too OP and they want power back.
Rinse and repeat.
