Can’t stop laughing.
Next we’ll have reward tracks for legendary armor.
Should I just log in and be rewarded with map completion or do I actually have to play the game? Booooo.
Looking at the timing of this post and the feedback I got from others, that was probably me commanding.
The most important thing for me, and I mostly only do this in EB, is knowing who I can count on. If people are in TS, I know that people are going to be following my movements. Big fights require fast movement. Any delay, even a few seconds, can mean death. Also, I can communicate where I’m going longer term. I can get immediate feedback, I can count on what supply I have in squad and know that if I need something built, the people in squad, and in TS will get it built.
EB has been full of people not playing on tag, following directions, or not wanting to join TS for one reason or another. I can’t count on those folks.
I can confirm the commander (probably you, can’t exactly remember your name.. Simon was it? but you were either MAS/XVX tagged) in TS yesterday asking TWICE if “Eater of Peeps” is in TS. No response. You kicked them and you had every right to because you and multiple others asked prior (map chat etc) for people to get in TS if they would like to be in squad; organised, reliable people to actually get things done in a swift and appropriate manner.
As for OP, there is a reason most commanders use TS and want their followers to use it as well – to be on the same page with the commander and make game impacting decisions asap. Voice communication is a superior, common tool used in many online games. I don’t have a mic, and even if I did I wouldn’t talk much due to my reserved nature/shyness yet at least I have the decency and respect to download the program and help benefit the commander’s intentions of successful team play by supporting their request.
Gone are the days of ‘typemanding’. Nearly every commander I’ve ran with has advertised to be on TS. No one is forcing you to join and if you don’t like that particular content then don’t be part of it or make your own dedicated squad or non-TS group.
At the end of the day… his squad, his rules. If you don’t abide by those rules, consider yourself kicked out and for good reason.
I usually pronounce it as MER-REL-LO.
Confusion duration sigil… be careful what you wish for.
Or you know… right click → use all for tomes. ANet please.
These days I really cannot bear to just let them all gather up and take up space so I use them asap, plus I always need spirit shards.
Sometimes I like to pick up my full zerker gunflame warri and go duck hunting.
“On My Mark!” → “To The Limit!” → weapon swap to rifle with intelligence sigil → activate berserk mode → OPTIONAL: if thief is close Taunt is activated → Gunflame → thief dead in one or two shots in a matter of seconds.
Thieves usually run squishy gear. This isn’t a counter to thief, but it’s fun on bad ones. A good thief will utilize shadow-steps, stun-breaks, blinds, necessary dodges and watch out for combat queues, especially when I swap to rifle as by then it would be in their best interest to begin using their stolen warrior skill to reflect the projectile etc.
I’m not sure what else I’d bother using if I encounter a thief… condi mesmer comes to mind.
Haha this is hilarious.
I literally only ever have under 50-100 relics, rarely ANY pristine ones since I can’t stand doing fractals.. too bad for infusions I like to min max my builds in WvW (I’d rather not waste precious laurels) and they now cost fractal relics… send some to me hehe.
Would be nice to actually earn an item or set during the Halloween period via some kind of quest, reward track or simply through playing the game and collecting various things.
I am sickened at the thought of another reward locked behind insane RNG aka Gwynefyrdd a couple years prior. That was painful.
I am expecting the typical Grenth’s Hood and other gem store cosmetic items to re-appear… I would like to see Candy Corn use another sink somehow. Also Trick-or-Treat bags to be updated with components required to craft X item. The usual business locked behind RNG… oh well.
What would be super pleasing is being able to acquire the Mad Memoires back piece again. I never got to experience that Halloween event. Also Lunatic Inquisition was pretty amusing.
I disagree with buffing mobs. Core Tyria is a place to get your footing; many new players will probably find the difficulty just right plus it’s nice to go back on an alt and just cruise through the mobs. Some people prefer very casual mobs/enemies that are quick and easy to take down or have limited play time.
HoT introduced a step up from mob difficulty and at the time many players complained it was too harsh. Raids is the next bar of difficulty and to some – actual challenging content.
I agree in a way though that Core Tyria mobs are pretty straight forward and their skills are quite bland/boring. Maybe make the animations more exciting or their combat queues more dynamic?
Oh look this thread again…
The following thread explains some possible counters to trapper thief. Enjoy.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Trapper-thief-is-a-joke/page/2#post6256223
Yes I’ve been wondering if it was just me that experienced this absurd & strange ram behaviour with mashing #1… usually gets frozen even though you pressed the skill yet nothing happens and you waste almost 1-2 actual ram hits if it gets bugged. Very annoying.
Been playing for years.
Still don’t know or ever experienced certain dungeon paths.
Literally just follow the others in front of you and stack where they stack. Gw2 has one of the most friendly communities.. So people will help you out. Sure you may get salty players who just want to rain on other’s parades but every game has them.
I learnt quite a few dungeon paths just by randomly joining in the LFG tool; memorize the dungeon path and spots to stack plus what is effective on the mobs and you’ll be fine. It’s easy.
Fractals are content similar to dungeons but unlike dungeons ANet has placed full focus on them and Raids too. Early fractals are easy, you won’t need AR much at all. Later Fractals you will need the AR which means getting ascended gear (top end gear).
Raids are the next step up and for some or many are considered the challenging, harder content and you WILL need to know your class, maintain your role properly be it DPS, the tank or condi etc as well as being situationally aware; multi tasking the mechanics involved but also gear yourself properly.
I don’t do raids seeing as I have a job and can’t commit to a schedule in game but I do know that it is appropriate to know all of the above when considering raiding. You don’t want to be a liability nor bring down your squad. There’s probably websites out there that contain meta builds regarding raids plus videos on the fights which I recommend you look into be ore jumping in… Also helps if you have a guild that would be willing to teach newbies etc.
+1
Would be nice to see this item returned. I don’t think I was around when that Halloween event was on and I’d like to experience the fun quests involved if any.
They should just implement a feature to change the display name. I believe Battle Net, Origin Client aka EA (shudders) LoL, RS and Steam generally allow you to change your display name to some extent.
Unfortunately Gw2 is stuck with displaying the account name you created. I’d like to change mine because people know me most by the toon I log into; not by the account name… Sigh.
Slap on a feature over the account name to let us use a display name. Easy.
If by cheesy you mean to really sprinkle salt all over someone’s day? Then these few might enlighten you:
- PU condi Mesmer or any form of condition Chronomancer
- trapper rune condi Thief
- tank Druids because it takes 3 people or so to catch them and shut them down
- condi Berseker mace/shield
- full nomad builds on any class that has high heal uptime be it passives or traits; Druids, Berserker Warriors etc
- well played Scrapper sustain builds.. Metabattle probably has a few
Notice how many are condi based? People don’t like fighting DoTs that seemingly abuse stealth/passives to out sustain you.
Just check metabattle for any current builds.
Happy salt collecting if you play these builds.
Since ANet doesn’t bother making build-saving templates or gear saving ones at that I have a few mesmer alts. Each of which is fixated on a certain role for WvW – and WvW is what I play most be it roaming or zerging.
Note; don’t take any of these suggestions seriously. I play these build styles for FUN, not 100% effectiveness.
- Boonshare yolo tank – Minstrel stats
With minstrel’s it’s basically full tank stats with boon duration. Hammer in the fact that mesmer carries boon sharing capabilities adds to the current plethora of debatable ‘too much boon sharing’ meta. With Spring Rolls nourishment I can maintain 8+ mins of swiftness on myself, and share it with pretty much the entire zerg, along with whatever other boons I chug out all the while being ridiculously tanky. The only downside? Hits like a wet noodle. Won’t kill anyone with it, but it can be annoying to take down.
- Full zerk-twerk-time interrupt power burst – Berserker stats
Pretty sure this build is on metabattle already, but I generally tweak aspects to my own liking. It’s difficult these days to land stuns/dazes on classes due to the passive stability/stun-break creep meta going on. Full lock-down mesmer was a pretty hot topic months back as it could literally 100-0 players in a few seconds. It’s still do-able, but you also can die fast, too. Sometimes it’s fun to just chain stuns/dazes for days… Signet of Domination, the heal signet plus Moa with Blurred Inscriptions trait can make things a bit more sustainable when things go south.
You’re going to have a rough time with zerker in WvW, I suggest probably adding in a bit of toughness into your gear, but make sure you can still land crits. Otherwise, Marauder stats are available and differ slightly from zerker in that it has a bit of vitality into the mixture.
- Full cancer most annoying build ever, almost 2nd to ghost thief – full Dire stats
This is literally the pinnacle of aids. In fact, it might be worse if you added in some Trailblazer stats into the mixture considering that’s added condition duration, but jeeze. Full Dire mesmer is meta and has been for a long time. If you’re running solo or small scale you will most likely run into one of these guys.
Currently running torment runes on mine; I wasn’t sure if I should pick up Perplexity runes or if they’re even still viable due to the recent change but condi mesmer in general is just ludicrous to fight against and play with due to the passive DoT condi’s along with stealth and re positioning via Blink or Continuum Split for even more disease spamming capabilities all the while being very tanky due to Dire’s stats; vitality + toughness.
Play condi mesmer if you really want to add to your collection of salty orphan tears in the form of whispers.
Hope this helps a bit, I know you’re probably looking for a suitable, sustainable build that can 1v1 or last longer in skirmishes so I recommend taking a look at metabattle for an idea… that or make your own builds and see what works for you.
Kind of moot; EOTM is a place where people can easily just rank farm/k-train endlessly. Someone who spent years dedicated to WvW probably has a lower rank than someone who spends a few months farming karma time in Edge…. pretty sad. I think Edge got hit anyway with a nerf to XP in general.
There are other alternatives to display your time spent in WvW, and proper WvW at that – the WvW titles like Yakslapper or Immovable Object are nice ones. That’s 3000 objectives defended and a couple thousand yaks killed to hinder enemy supplies so I kind of respect those ones more.
Most mesmers I encounter in small WvW skirmishes are either condi or some form of power shatter/mild lock down builds.
If you get focused in a fight on a relatively squishy mesmer build; power.. it’s not fun. From my experience I had quite the amusing time running full dire condi mesmer. It has the tank stats to survive but also whittles down your enemies due to condi stats in general being overwhelming for the most part.
I am also considering making a set of the new HoT stats… I think it is expertise? I’m not too sure, but it is more glass but should allow my conditions to last wayyyy longer.
Being one if the colour blind people what I would like to see is a tag that glows if its the one I am following. Similar to what it does when you cursor over it now except it doesn’t stop glowing.
That would make it super easy to spot always.
Guess what. The commander tag glows already. I swear it didn’t before. But all last night the tag I was following had a glow around it.
Way cooool.
Really? I’ll have to check this out… would be nice if it’s indeed the case. ALL the time I have to use CTRL + T on cmder just to keep track of them.
As for OP’s request – why not? The more colors the merrier. If it aids colorblind players then I think it only fair in this stone age of gaming; features in game to aid them.
someone who lived in eotm when it was 1 big ktrain
This, haha.
It’s true though; in the time I spent in there levelling alts up and farming karma for obby shards for more asc stuff you reap in all the wvw ranks, even if you don’t want them. WvW ranks mean absolutely nothing.
It’s not uncommon to see diamond prefixes. Mostly see them in big blob fests or organized GvG skirmishes. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if many have left the game due to the plethora of balance issues… slow update/progress for WvW game mode. I don’t blame them.
I think a lot of people have already answered your question above but I’ll add my opinion into the batch:
1. Condition dmg is indeed a one stat area; you only need that alone to deal your dmg as opposed to a power based build requiring most likely berserker’s or marauder/cav etc consisting of both precision and/or ferocity.
This alone allows a condi user to simply waltz around in dire gear aka toughness AND vitality whilst dishing out all their dmg via conditions.
2. Dying to a condi build often upsets people and they have it in their mindset ‘dying to a cheese build because that build takes no skill’ or even to the extent that they believe the build is OP due to the first statement I made. Condi builds make people cranky. Dying to DoT effects make people upset even though it’s a valid play style and widely used.
3. It’s considered ‘cheese’ due to various other elements; the passive gameplay. You can probably dump a lot of conditions on someone, run away jumping around, come back and do it again and eventually kill them without actively doing anything significant or entwine combo’s into the rotation. Low risk, high reward for some classes.
As someone above stated already; a power build could invest everything possible into condi-clears and still die from DoT effects inevitably because the condi user can be very annoying to catch/chase or they are baiting out all your clears.
You shouldn’t be ashamed of playing a particular play style you ENJOY.
If condition builds suit you better, play them. Who cares what other people think – may as well join the club considering a vast amount of other people out there are playing those builds, too.
It’s always good to experiment; most of my time is spent making my own little builds and taking them for a spin in WvW roaming about – both condi and power.
Yes condition builds are powerful, especially if you’re not playing smart against them. The same goes for power builds. You won’t win every fight. Just enjoy the game, play what you want!
It’s been asked for, for what feels like a million times – yes, we should get a wider variety of hair accessory colors to choose from but ANet is busy with other things and I don’t think they’ve ever answered whether or not they will or can add more hair accessory colors.
In favor of an option to always see players green health bars no matter the case.
Would help a tonne in wvw when initiating a spike heal for someone, or heals in general.
I’m in favor of alternate methods of in-game recruiting.
I’m thinking of a layout somewhat like the BLTC; another key added to the bar of UI buttons up the too where you could possibly choose options similar to PvE or WvW guild… Size of guild you’re looking for, what server it’s on and active timezone etc.
Something to really buckle down on the hassle of finding the right guild seeing as forums could lead to outdated info as someone stated.
It would be nice to choose all the options you want, under reasonable circumstances and have an array of guilds show up entailing details when you click on them.
Other games probably already have this feature implements – it’s time gw2 should have a system in place as well to benefit the community and any new comers alike.
I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have a little blurb in the loading screens about personal health.. Yes other games are known to inform players to take breaks.
To me it is common sense/knowledge and being situationally aware of your own usage/time spent. Just keep the local clock time on so you know how much you’ve been on… Set an alarm on your phone, too if it helps. I’ve done it. Easy, works wonders.
One of my favorite things to do in this game is play on my big chunky max size Charr with his massive black wings and stand in front of people whom are busy working on jumping puzzles etc, furthermore it pleases me when they ask me to move and I purposely keep hovering around them for zero reason at all.
All jokes aside….
I wouldn’t mind an option to enable/disable all player back pieces due to possible FPS increase and/or load times albeit I will admit it sounds a bit pedantic given the camera zoom options we have available in game anyway to work around obstructing things in our way.
I don’t think I’ve ever really had problems with people wearing back pieces in small, enclosed areas such as JP’s.. I will admit for the latter part, cosmetically speaking… The style/fad these days with “wings” is far overused and I’d love to see some real, proper ornamental back pieces available.
When mmo’s introduce cosmetic wings, and repeatedly.. You know they’re running out of ideas. Sad.
TLDR: I support the option of hiding player’s back pieces for the sake of dipping my toes back into a more immersive “good old days” mmo experience. Wings free!
OP prefers PvE?
1) Go to EOTM
2) Board the snooze-fest k-train
3) Eventually get your gift of battleIt’s basically PvE… sadly… that or PvDoor when the enemy is asleep. I still question how you can’t stand WvW. Big fights can take your mind off the actual lengthy wait of the reward track and you’ll be helping your server buddies out, too. Plus bagsssss!
Because not everybody is on a T1 or T2 server? When you spend week after week being outnumbered and getting zerg stomped you realize how entirely reliant on numbers WvW is. You also realize that zerg fights are 99% numbers and 1% placement.
I have to grind camps and dolyaks solo to keep up even partial participation and if a zerg spots me I am dead. Its a terrible gamemode that anet as refused to balance since day 1. In the early days of WvW it was pointed out that it was not balanced and anets response was to say that it wasn’t meant to be balanced. A lot of us took that for the cop out it most definitely was. Even so I continued to WvW for a few months. All of that WvW was worthless because anet has made the reward currency from then worthless with the badge change.
Then maybe it’s time to move servers or find a guild so you can make things easier for yourself? Afterwards, you can always transfer back.
If you are worried about participation I believe if you hit the max participation you can just wait it out somewhere; SMC for example and watch TV or something whilst it ticks away at 100% giving full participation. Lazy, yes, but it works.
You are right in a particular area – WvW has terrible balance, especially when it comes to population balance and numbers. It’s difficult to balance a game regarding coverage when it’s a global one played 24/7. Sometimes players need to shift around to help their own selves… it’s a shame it also leads to bandwagoning etc. Nothing is perfect, this is sad.
On HoT release I had a hunch Druids were in a ridiculous state of being practically immortal… months down the track, same state.. probably more annoying than ever because everyone and their mum’s brown dog seems to be running that irritating tanky-tickler build.
I’ve tried multiple times on various classes to take on the tanky/bruiser druids… they all end the same with them running away via staff skills when I get their HP low then spring back basically 100% HP from stealth all the while their pet eating away at me, which has a plethora of boons all over it and the druid themselves.
I cannot fathom how developers can cook up a class build with tankiness, sustain, dmg, heals altogether and call it balanced? Is it just a legit l2p issue on my behalf? I’ve tried so many things from condi to power based builds and these guys are just ludicrous to even bother chasing after.
OP prefers PvE?
1) Go to EOTM
2) Board the snooze-fest k-train
3) Eventually get your gift of battle

Yepp… been waiting weeks for them to fix this. I have 2 rings I wish to change stats… too bad one’s infused and the other attuned.
I wish ANet would crack down on this one, fast.
I’m a filthy min-maxer with these kinds of things.
I think the easiest solution would be to have WvW related items that we can either:
a) obtain from a reward track
b) implemented into the system via loot bags and/or certain NPC drops
…that we can then chuck into the MF with the ring to create dual-slot and tri-slot rings.
Yeah, it really sucks that WvW isn’t on even grounds with a lot of the other game mode’s rewards… the content similarly overlaps. Ascended gear is pretty much best in slot for Fractals, likewise with WvW battles which is mostly zerging/roaming.
People will argue to the ends of time whether or not those so-called minuscule extra stats are worth it but at the end of the day we want to play what we enjoy – that is WvW. I think is it too hard to ask ANet to implement ways to acquire infused/attuned gear related to WvW?
It would be nice if we could use Badges of Honour as a currency to buy some of the already existing item requirements (mists essence as a prime example) much like fractal relics are required to obtain them.
I use the primers for wvw but sometimes i if I am waiting on reset, crafting goods to open up storage space, standing in divinity’s reach, LA, pve etc… I tend to go afk and my primer (i think secretly) diminishes to nothing. If I could buy a wvw specific primer, that only ticks down in wvw that would fix the issue as well.
If you log off to character screen the timer freezes.
This is true.
As long as you are not logged into a character with the primer active, it won’t count down. This can be annoying if you’re outside of wvw crafting and/or doing other things. I like the idea of it only ticking down in WvW… we can’t have everything, though. Sigh.
Giant Flat Meadow for fighting. Done.
GIANT Colosseum with seating where you can sit and watch from high stands without getting killed from the ground targets inside the collosseum.
This.
ANet wants you to buy their food/utility primers… wink wink.
Tbh I wish that either the primers themselves were cheaper or food in general needs to last longer by maybe tweaking it to a standard 1 hour for regular food and 2 hours for feasts that you can place for others.
Not sure if that’s asking too much… but time does fly when you’re on the move and it sucks to miss out on the bonuses of food.
Getting a white screen after character select entering a map;
Network Error.
Please check your internet connection and try again.
(Code=1083:5:7:1595:101)Same for me too.
Turn it off and on again.
Game seems to be working fine now, no crashes yet.

I think we should be able to switch what commander tag color we have if we’re in the squad.
Currently we have to tag down and/or leave squad, tag up again and somehow rejoin the squad. How difficult this is I’m not too sure as I’ve never done it but from what I’ve seen it looks like such a time waster.
Will PvP pips also go back to what we had in the morning?
Despite not playing pvp at the time, I too, would like to know this.
Also – what about placing guild hall decorations/crafting them? I made around 100 guild catas plus a handful of other decorations which was painful to sit through whilst browsing & making TP purchases.

__________
Gonna’ suck if I have to craft 100 each of the Scribe crafting kits and all the TP purchases I made etc, but thanks for the info and good work on getting things back into shape.
It’s inconvenient we know this but it happens sometimes which is understandable, and thankfully if I recall correctly this is the first ever major rollback for Gw2?
Cheers ANet for adding in the green and orange commander tag options; definitely a big plus.
The green one is bright enough to not blend in with the typical droopy-green map terrain. Good stuff.
I think the Bladed Armor sets are the absolute worst armor sets I’ve seen in the game, period.
There are just so many immersion-breaking and flat out ridiculous and utterly USELESS adornments on the armor pieces that make you wonder how your character hasn’t killed themselves already just by walking around. I’m especially hinting at the heavy chestplate for Charr in particular.
The set in itself is cheesy, as others have mentioned, extremely distasteful in appearance and overall had the potential to be so wicked and intimidating… sadly it is not. It’s more like a cheap action figure set out of a cereal box with parts that don’t make sense at all.
I wish ANet hired REAL armor designers. Yepp.
I will admit a lot of the more recent armorsets have detail that just isn’t fluent throughout the entire set or overly obnoxious bits sticking out; especially to do with the shoulder pieces.
It’s a bug that the ring(s) cannot be infused.
(It’s not a bug about accessories — no accessories can be. And amulets no longer carry infusions of any kind.)
This.
Amulets now are enrichment only slots aka karma ‘infusion’ enrichment as an example.
I really want this back piece on my Charr but when I looked at a few Charrs who have the back piece I couldn’t help but die a little on the inside… It looks so wonky and weird when running like they’re about to fall in front of themselves due to the positioning of the wings.
In OP’s picture I think the wings when in combat stance should be more vertical, upright. Not splayed out like a dog’s breakfast in front of the player. That does look awkward.
Still happening, had thrice today a necro slide off clocktower onto the stairs and snap back a while later where he originally was downed. Then another necro on keep point sliding away…. and a guard albeit way off point between keep and blue side; just kept sliding. Very annoying. Please fix.
PROBLEM:
Bloodstone Capacitor (costs 100 Unbound magic) DOES NOT WORK on the following ascended Bloodstone trinkets if they have been:
a) Infused
b) Attuned
Can someone please fix this already? I’ve waited over a week now and this seems to have either been ignored or left to gather dust on the pile of a million other probably broken things that no one ever gets around to fixing. Ever.
I don’t mind getting a dishonour timeout when my PC crashes and I couldn’t get back into the game fast enough, not that ANet’s dishonour window was that generous in the first place, but I’m not okay when the actual PvP game client/UI bugs out and leaves me with a ridiculous dishonour timeout for APPARENTLY leaving the queue when:
a) I had already checked the box that I am ready
b) I had already chosen the map I would like to play
c) I was watching the screen the entire time ready to be met with the typical loading screen & play the darn pvp match already
It was stuck on match is about to begin and then left me with the above mentioned nonsense.
This has happened twice now over the course of the previous season and this one.
Is it just me that’s getting this annoying bug?
Nutshell for me in Emerald:
- Team mates who have zero idea what they are doing at all. Ever. Newbies?
- Ppl that class stack severely (4 thieves wtf why? Just. Whyyy?)
- Blow out matches (often 100-500)
- Pitted up against same enemies who just smashed us
- Team mates raging/QQing
- Team mates who have zero clue how to rez and/or stomp
- Pip system is like taking a step forward only to take 2 steps back thanks to certain matchmaking etc..
Adding friendly fire to all siege would prolly be healthy.
All siege? I can’t stop laughing imagining an enemy Zerg being rained on by ACs then your Zerg + CMD shows up into the fray all the while being pelt on by friendly fire ACs.
Don’t think it would be very fun.
Just out of curiosity and my (possibly unhealthy) interest in making ridiculous silly builds, what class out of Guardian/DH or Warrior/Berserker would last longer/tank better in a WvW fight wearing full Nomad gear?
I’m taking into consideration both classes’ ability to passively + actively heal via skills/traits/nourishment/boons etc.
Confirmed Bloodstone Capacitor not working on the new Bloodstone trinkets that have either been:
a) Infused
b) Attuned
Very disappointing, waste of new currency.
ANet please fix this.
