+25 Power OR +4% Damage? (Runes mix & match)

Golemancer runes are also worth looking at if precision runes interest you, though I wouldn’t use 6 under any circumstances. Those runes give a great benefit to both precision and ferocity, but the 6th rune’s golem is annoying.

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about precision too much. Use sigil of intelligence and you’ll crit times 3 every 9 seconds, assuming you’re switching kits at least that often.

Very interesting; I do switch switch kits constantly. Thank you~

+25 Power OR +4% Damage? (Runes mix & match)

Side-note: I originally posted this topic in Players Helping Players but regretted it pretty fast as that section looks quite dead so I posted it here in hopes of answers. Forgive me if this is in the wrong thread!

I’ve been running a full set of Ogre runes on most toons now and I’m over the Rock Dog thing and want to seek other options, this time mixing runes. Used this set a lot in WvW, EOTM and even PvP lately.

Description of full set:

Superior Rune of the Ogre (6/6)
(1): +25 Power
(2): +35 Ferocity
(3): +50 Power
(4): 25% chance when struck to summon a rock dog. (Cooldown: 90s)
(5): +100 Power
(6): +4% damage

The rock dog has it’s ups and downs I will admit, in some cases it helps by drawing aggro for a short duration but other times it dies within a few hits. The CD on it if it dies quickly is a waste, plus it relies solely on you being hit in the first place.

I’m thinking of mixing 5 Superior Runes of the Mesmer with 1 Superior Rune of the Ogre and here is what the outcome will be:

(1): +25 Power
(2): +35 Precision
(3): + 50 Power
(4): + 65 Precision
(5): + 100 Power
(6): +25 Power

I like the idea of that Precision instead of the Rock Dog spawning considering I will be running a full set of zerker gear/trinkets etc.

My first and foremost question(s) is where does the +4% Damage from the original set of Ogre runes go – on top of my Power? And if so, is that better than the +25 Power from this mix ‘n’ match set I’ve thought of?

I have the intention of using this mix ‘n’ match set on my full zerker Engi. I noticed the +25 Power with food + utility consumables totals to exactly 2,700 Power as opposed to the full set of Ogre runes as the +4% Damage is hidden(?) somewhere.

All in all, I’ve also considered the full set of Mesmer Runes seeing as ANet released this latest balance patch which now grants a 1 second Daze with “Launch Personal Battering Ram” for the Engi. The 6th slot thing with Mesmer Runes is an interesting +33% Daze duration.

So yeah, any thoughts/help/comments will be extremely appreciated~

Crafting also rewarded insanely heaps of exp, super fast during this double XP event. I myself managed to craft a toon to 80 with about 4-5 disciplines. Very fast~

Content Filler till Expansion?

Sometime long ago when the wardrobe update happened ANet said something along the lines of;

“We hope to make all/most skins available to players in some way or another”

Will have to go burying through old update notes for that but point being… I would REALLY like to be able to have those Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings as I missed out on Dragon Bash.

Same deal with LSS1 rewards. I recon they should add those ‘un-obtainable’ event skins to the laurel vendor at least if they can’t replay the event due to lore reasons.

But yeah I liked Queen’s Pavilion and the Zephyrite thing. Never bothered with SAB despite getting stuff like the continue coin so I’d love to experience that as content filler.

PvP Match Manipulation

in PvP

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

Zephyra.4709

The titles (e.g. Champion Paragon) are only acquired from playing Unranked/Ranked, which can’t be “fixed”.

Then again, it could also mean that said Champion Paragon has simply played lots of games and was lucky enough to get into 200 Unranked matches where his team was good enough to carry him.

End of the day, just watch the player in question and see if they’re actually any good. Titles and ranks are meaningless.

Okay, thank you for clearing that up. And yes I see how that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re skill levels are good just because of the title, now. I so often see people with ‘champion xxxx’ title and immediately presume they’re ‘good’ at it. Haha.

I don’t recall ever experiencing one of these double exp events before. Normally it’s merely been ‘bonus xp’ in WvW or PvP and so far I am really grateful ANet has given us this type of event.

I noticed Crafting to level alts is insanely fast this way since that’s the usual path I take to level them with. Thanks ANet for making it even more convenient for a while!

With all the buffs and stuff from boosters too this is a great time to get exp, WvW & Karma so I hope we get more of these events in the future.

Tell me, are YOU enjoying this double XP event and/or what are you using it to your advantage whilst it lasts?

I probably would’ve leveled the ‘normal’ way but I dislike how the new system works in regards to traits and stuff.

I’m torn on what to do first though haha.. Revenant or see these new Spec things with other classes.

75% sale new purchases, no DD Upgrade Sale?

For the simple reason that it’s on sale for REAL MONEY while the Gem Store one is available for Gold-to-Gem conversion, making it a no-sale for A.Net. So you’re asking them to discount the cost of ….nothing, for them to make more $0 sales? That makes no logical business sense.

The whole reason the game is on sale right now is because they announced the expansion of the game and want to get new customers to start up the game before the expansion hits sometime later this year. This way people find this the best time to join the game before getting caught behind everyone else in progress.

1+. Completely agreed with everything you’ve stated. Only makes logical sense this way.

Price ranges, if any applicable, do not bother me in the slightest.

Looking forward to everything mentioned in this expansion, especially the Revenant profession. Many juicy questions others have asked and I too am keen on answers.

Glimpsing at the new mordrem monsters in the trailer kind of sets off that AVATAR theme which is pretty awesome so I hope we get some minis at least of those cool creatures.

Hang gliding at first thought is.. Interesting and sounds very fun so I’m also keen to check that out. It makes me wonder though if we will get any lore on it – who made this invention? I assume most likely Asura or possibly Charr with their inventions and such.

Definite buy on my behalf.

Each to their own though. I will probably try and get a look going with these new skins, typically on a sylvari, no doubt. It only seems fitting. Ha.

Indeed, one use consumable that will teleport you to an utterly random place.. I bought 100 of these for no real purpose but I used them on freshly created toons to get a head start on map completion in random zones. What I did notice was that it mostly teleported me to Cursed Shore a lot and more frequently Brisban Wildlands or the asura starting zones.. Ridiculously expensive but it’s certainly interesting to use.

Would anyone like a way to reset WXP?

in WvW

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

Zephyra.4709

Let me tell you a story…

Once upon a time players could not reset their Trait points.. The only way to do so was to purchase a book/manual of sorts that allowed them to reset all Traits back to scratch. Yet one glorious day, ANet decided to implement a most generous feature for the player base that allowed them to add and remove Traits points at will, not necessarily back to scratch but it improved that particular feature vastly. Everyone lived happily ever after.

… If only ANet would be so kind as to implement a similar feature in regards to WvW ‘traits’; e.g – plus and minus buttons next to each respective option.. Arrow Cart Mastery etc.

I hope others grasp this concept idea or have similar like-minded thoughts/suggestions.

Dumb reasons why you can't play a class/race

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

Zephyra.4709

My 2 cents….

CLASSES:

- Necro. Sounds like fun but I’m just terrible at the class in general.. slowly giving it more time though.
- Elementalist. I have no idea what I am doing. Attunements are annoying to switch back and fourth with and I often click the wrong skill.

RACES:

- Human. Boring. Only have 1 human; female Warrior yet even that is just meh. So glad they removed some of the female human animations though.. looked so ditsy with their stretch animation on a heavy class of all things.

- Charr. My dislikes are towards the armor. It is unbearable to mix and match stuff on these guys… just take a look at the heavy Nightmare Court headgear on a Charr. Absolutely hideous. Zero effort. It’s extremely off-putting for such an interesting race.

- Asura. Similar reasons as the Charr.. lame armors/skins or purely for the fact that they are a small race it doesn’t show well for others.

- Sylvari. Like other(s) have stated already; the “Mary-Sue” of races. I will admit to having more Sylvari toons than any other race as they are intriguing and fun to make with such diverse options yet they’re constantly in the spot-light, especially with the whole LS thing… that and the male Sylvari’s. They seriously look so uncomfortable running around it’s almost hilarious.

That’s about it really. I just wish ANet would take more care in implementing armors etc to make them look decent on ALL races… coughpleasedon’tlookhorribleonCharrscough

Levelling Alt with Crafting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

Zephyra.4709

I use a specific crafting site to level my alts. I can confirm that 400 Chef gets me at least to level 16-ish fresh out of character creation.

I can also confirm that max levelling at least 6 or 7 crafting professions got me a toon to full 80 in a few hours. On my phone atm so can’t link the website but darn is it extremely handy; gives options for cheapest methods to using mats from heart quests or no quests (karma) at all.

If you got the gold, go craft-level some alts. Very easy.

Lately though I merely craft to about level 50 then use tombs for the rest.

I'm curious: why is WvW siege so primative?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

Zephyra.4709

I agree on the subject of primitive siege but in Grenth’s name let’s not forget boats. Seriously guys. I’m talking about every wooden boat/ship that exists in Tyria amongst so much more technilogically advanced machines and it is just baffling:

- Charr war machines
- Asuran lasers/golems/magical energies
- underwater labs consisting of crazy portals/heavy machinery
- those floating ships/Zephyrite/Pact airship balloons
- Scarlet Briar’s big kitten flippin’ Breach Maker drill for crying out loud
- Intricately detailed Watchwork monsters
- somewhat advanced looking Dredge machinery
- that one interesting Charr submarine

And then we still have/use wooden ships… Seriously. SERIOUSLY. No wonder you see half of then all ruined and washed up on shore.

I wanna see some heavy duty Charr-themed war ship made outta metals and stuff like you see amongst the Black Citadel!

Bank Tab Expansion(s)...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

Zephyra.4709

Every potential tab added requires server-space. Not much, but even 1 byte ends up being rather much when multiplied by millions.

I personally don’t need more bank space, but I wouldn’t be against them adding more if they figured it would earn them more than it would cost.

I never thought about that before; might be it does add up in the long run? I still find it odd that it would take up much space though. Thank you for that info.

There’s always the personal Guild banks. I finally made one not too long ago, and that frees up a lot of space. =)

I do indeed have a guild bank albeit it’s unfortunate you cannot store soul-bound/account-bound items in there as far as I’ve tried (e.g; ascended mats). I will agree it’s very handy in storing other things.

Bank Tab Expansion(s)...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

Zephyra.4709

Without a doubt, for whatever insane reason, I’m not the only one out there who’s out of bank space and no – I personally don’t hoard items.. well, maybe a few things…

Yes, I have quite the number of ‘banking toons’ purely for the purpose of holding stuff that won’t fit in my bank but it’s a little annoying to log in, switch stuff around and vice-versa.

So. The almighty Bank Tab Expansion:

Official item description:

  • “Double-click to consume.
Double-click to add an additional tab with 30 item slots to your bank.”

Guild Wars 2 Wikipedia expresses the following intriguing statement:

  • “Before the September 19th update, the maximum number of bank slots was limited to eight.”

If it was limited to eight before, of which I was never aware of until recently, then generously upgraded to what we can maximize now – 12, surely it’s possible to implement a further number of bank tabs we can have? For example: 15 (an extra 3 tabs). Even if it’s merely 3 extra tabs I would buy them in an instant.

What reason persists to be limited to 12?

I see no faults at hand if by chance ANet would kindly expand the number we can purchase and truth be told – more money for them, more bank space for us.

Feel free to discuss this topic amongst yourselves. Tell me – would you like more bank space? I know I do.

Dear ANet,

Many thanks for releasing these new skins!

They are by far the most detailed, beautiful weapons I have seen in quite some time. Not only that but they are in brief terms; standard practical weapons with little to no floating bits which is what many prior weapon sets seem to have been adorned with and it really feels like these Fleet ones are intact and actually look like they could hurt.. A LOT.

(Not that I don’t appreciate the more magical-themed ones.. I have merely been yearning for some actual standard-looking styles without all the floating bits etc)

The Moot, The Juggernaut, or Frostfang?

in Crafting

Posted by: Zephyra.4709

I got Frostfang first; love it. Gives off some cool effects especially when paired with Howler.

Just recently obtained a Juggernaut. Honestly it’s the most reasonable looking weapon for a hammer.. it really looks intact unlike other weapon series e.g; Dreamthistle, the new air/wind-looking themes etc. Anyway, the only thing I don’t like about this weapon is the effect it gives off when sheathing it back. Unsheathing gives off a nice burst of the metallic liquid but as soon as you put it away it is an immediate disappearance and feels off-putting. Still beautiful though.

The Moot. Let this legendary never see the light of day. I am afraid I’ve never used a mace before and this.. by far.. is the biggest abomination ever to grace the face of Tyria. There is a special place in the devil’s lair to whomever wields The Moot. Six save us all.

In regards to the wondrous adventures of breaking out of zones/maps…

Really nothing too drastic but there used to be a boulder roughly where my toon is placed that allowed you to get on top of the displayed building roof which then allowed you to reach the snowy ledge using the same technique leading to ‘breaking out’ of the zone/map of Hoelbrak.

When and more importantly why was it removed?

If anyone could clarify/resolve this for me.. is breaking out of zones/maps to explore out of curiosity with zero intent of personal gain in any way not allowed?

This leads me to believe other zones/maps may get tweaked to remove said objects/content that allows players to break out of them.

Sounds like another Southsun. Could do with a dungeon to spark some form of life instead of visiting good ole’ Karka Queen every once in a while.

But seriously though, there needs to be some form of content that would keep bringing players back into that zone/map if it were merely hearts/vistas etc.. Otherwise as the above poster already stated: another dead zone.

SUGGESTION: Southsun Revisisted

All I can think of is a new Dungeon. Perhaps some explorers/vigil soldiers came across it after some time? Honestly though, I was present at the time the map was released and rushed through it and left.. Only to return whenever KQ spawns. It’s sad to see all that effort into map design go to waste with such little events.. But I agree SS is OP. Those reef drakes.. Cray cray I tell you.
